i have heard a lot abt mad thru a fren of mine. i dnt stay in ny of the cities in whch mad is wrkin , i hope mad will come to chd. soon. so tht i can also wrk with them..
i think especially when we are young, all of us are filled with this desire to "make a difference"..do something revolutionary....blame it on fiery blood bursting with passion and energy..but ive always wanted to do something..leave my mark on this world..and this though has always been in my mind..but until now..ive either never had the time or just didnt have an outlet...now that im in collge..im on my own..ive kind of made time to pursue my ambition..when i first came across this organisation and people around me told me to join up..i wasnt sure if i was cut out for what they asked of me..my time..my commitment..but i did join..totally on impulse..and i dont regret my decision..not even for a second..its just been a few classes..but the experience has totally changed me..and i definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone..a lot of the times..im this "nobody" i dont prescribe to societal norms of "popular" and "the in crowd"....just like a normal teen, i have doubts and questions about my purpose in life..where i fit in..what is to become of me...im not saying all my gazillions of questions have been answered..but im getting there..MAD has given me a sense of purpose..i feel like i matter..every week, there are a bunch of kids out there.."my" kids who wait for me to come there and talk with them..sing and play and laugh with them..share my knowledge with them and they share theirs with me..when im done with my class for a week, they eagerly tell me to come back the following week...its a definite "feel good" source..i feel like im wanted..needed..people care about me..so yeah..MAD had made a difference in my life and im so damn grateful for that....
MAD has been a wonderful experience till date,it gives me solace after am back from the orphanage once I go to teach the kids and am ever indebted to MAD for giving me an opportunity to rediscover the humanity in me.MAD is a bunch of selfless youth who try to improve the lives of the innocent poor children in the society.indeed with MAD I can proudly say that "I HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE!!"
my neighbour took me one day with her to a home shelter and it was a gr8 feelin to spnd my sunday mrn, with mad kids and vol.. i neevr knew tht these kids wld actully want ppl to come n teach them.. also the way mad has a designed course was smthng i never expected ..
Though im not personally involved in it, i have many friends who actively participate in all MAD activities and its really cool that they are doing so much for the underprevileged...
my sister is workin with MAD delhi, and i have seen her gettin passionate abt it day by day.. the kids love these volunteers and the whole orgnaisation is absoultly gr8.. i wish mad all good luck..!
one of my frens wrk with mad and i see her passion for same. the whole structure of mad is amazing and am sure i will join in too
i went to one of the homeshelters. with a mad vol. n its gr8 to see how kids love them and wait to be taught.
Heard about this organization through a cousin of mine who was a volunteer in MAD. Been wanting to join this organization ever since then. Just wasn't practically possible since i had to travel between cities. Alotta my friends have already joined and hearing their stories and their experience with the kids really does hit the soft spot. The effort that they put into managing the volunteers and teaching the kids are well done and it gives me goosebumps when i hear that MAD is spreading around the country... i mean only a few are brave enough to get their hands dirty and this is definetly not a place for people who are looking to earn themselves nothing but a good rep...they only pick the most committed of the lot. Call me optimistic but i really think these group of youngsters actually have what it takes to go the distance and am crossing my fingers on being a part of it someday
I have found a very good way to spend my weekend with children, teaching them a few things and learning a lot more. The children are enthusiastic and always want to learn. We(MAD volunteers) prepare before hand for the class with study material as well as a few games to keep their interest till the end of the class. Those 2 hours every week brightens up the whole week for me with a feeling of satisfaction of doing something good.
i had attended a presentation about MAD in college though i could not join. these guys are doing a fabulous job and we should give them all the support that we can give.
My three daughters are volunteers for Make a difference and their accounts of what goes on is worth listening to...it makes me happy that they are involved in someting that is going to do a lot of good for children
my colleague has been working with MAD and i myself have visited his classes on a couple of occasions.. i have a few friends who are into social service, but the experience during those two classes with my colleague was very different.. i didnt know that the classes could be so much fun.. and i strongly endorse the space in which MAD is operating.. the underprivileged children really need to be competent with spoken english for them to take up white collar jobs.. i have already indicated my interest in becoming a part of MAD and am eagerly awaiting their next recruitment cycle..
I'm personally not involved with mad but some of my friends are. from what I read from an article that i read in the indian express, these guys are really making a difference.
my classmate is working with MAD and from what i hear from him, i can see that MAD is doing something truly inspirational and unique.
i first heard about mad through a family friend and after that i have been keeping track of their activities. i really wanted to join but couldnt find the time. but i'm glad to say that about 100 people did find the time and are doing a really good job.
I have heard about MAD from one of my friends.Tts a step towards educating the poor children so that they can earn and make a good living in the future.Though,I have not been a part of it,I really do appreciate the enthusiasm shown by the youngsters to uplift the life of the children who are the future of tomorrow. All the very best for all the endeavours of MAD.
through many of my friends i got to know about Make a Difference...educating the underprivileged children is the aim of this NGO..which not only teaches the children but also recruits them according to the child's preference which will definitely help them in their future...and it has also helped me to know about their lifestyle...which i was unaware of..and I'm proud to be a part of this organisation.
Make A Difference made a difference in my outlook towards life.Through MAD, i realized that not everyone is as fortunate as I am,even when considering simple things in life I've taken for granted, such as having a family or a decent home.i joined MAD a year ago not sure if i was capable enough to teach, as I've never had any teaching experience before. But here I am still going strong with my 12 little kids in our home called "pallu".It would be apt to say that each teaching experience would actually be a learning experience for me not only as a teacher but as a human being.I pray that more people will join us and help us grow so that we can not only educate but also provide these little things we've taken for granted for our children. I believe that MAD will one day reach all parts of the world lending a helping hand, not only to the kids, but also to the elderly so that we can all share our joys or sorrows together as one huge family unit.
I came to know about MAD through my cousin Amruta who is a part of the Nagpur chapter. Even though i am not at all actively involved and have been just a passive spectator of the activities my cousin and her team are involved in, i can definitely vouch that the the kids who they teach must be really indebted to the collective efforts of MAD. It goes on to prove how a simple gesture goes a great way in MAKING A DIFFERENCE!!!
I heard about MAD from my friend. MAD motivates, builds and develops a team of young people to give joy and happiness to lots of children and educate them. I would be more than happy if I could join MAD. Looking forward to become a MADDIE!!!!
i herd about MAD 4rm PR head tanmay n few of ma other frends...hav always wanted 2 do sumthing 4 orphans n MAD gave me a path 2 do it.....i hav learnt a lot 4rm MAD n i think even ma kids at MAD hav lernt a lot 4rm me....each time i go 2 teach ma kids smile broder thn b4....v both hav created n unspeakable attatchment with eachother.....wat i feel 4 thm cant even b expressed....they hav tought me more thn i hav...they hav changed ma view of looking at life....i can onli thank MAD 4 trusting me n giving me this opportunity 2 teach kids...
As an outsider and therefore hopefully an independent observer, I have seen and been impressed by the dedication of MAD volunteers. I have interacted with a few volunteers and have seen a genuine commitment to make a difference in the lives of children less fortunate than most. I honestly believe that the work MAD does among children will definitely go a long way in securing a bright future for these children.
MAD is a team that mobilises millions of people to dream and let their dreams live. I wish more and more volunteers come out to use their skills and experience to restore to Indian children their basic rights. Right way to go, MAD!!!!
I have been hearing about MAD from My Cousin... He is into MAD Managalore and his experience have been simply awesome... from the start till now.. they are going strong..Keep up the Noble work..Some day i would like to join him.. Alas.. Time doesn permit me at this time and he says.. Commitment and time is what i need to give... I will Some day.. Sooner or later... Till then I'll keep following up...
After teaching the kids and coming out of the centre, each time I feel as if I have achieved something great. I carry those "Thank you's", "Take Care","Come next week too BHAIYA" etc etc. home and these few words really make my day. I feel more confident after each class and get a feeling that I am playing my part towards society and helping a few young children shape their future. MAD has really Made a Difference in my Life. It has given me the opportunity to see the actual problem faced by our country and to know and understand how important role WE all need to play so that we can help Make a Difference in thousands of lives..Thank you MAD !!
I got to know about MAD from my close friend. India's future would be secure only when the younger generation is skilled enough to fill up the opportunities available. MAD is a step in the right direction - basic education for young minds. Hopefully others find inspiration from this and carry on the good work done by MAD. Way to go MAD!!
If you want a certain section of the youth to back a cause, something should be there to make them feel that 'this is the 'in' thing'.Some organizations do it by roping in celebs and getting them to say "I support so n so..do you?"..and indeed it shows..when you see hordes of teens lining up for a chance to do some 'cool' social service..well said and well done..and it doesn't matter at all..as long as it serves the cause..and that too,a noble one..but the abstinence from such a hype and publicity is exactly what makes MAD different.I didn't come to know of MAD from a superstar,my best friend introduced it to me instead...and if you decide to help out someone just because your favorite hero asked you to do so..its still good..but not something which is out of your want. From a startup by a group of college students 3 years ago,MAD has now grown to be an organization supported by people from different walks of life..and it might not have been easy to have come up the hard way.. Many a times..they might have been thrown the usual "What?!..Are you mad?!",when they say that they've decided to use their weekends for such an activity..to which they can proudly reply..'Yes..I am....MAD!' So..let me use this opportunity to salute all of those MAD people, who've decided to set aside some time for their brothers and sisters, when they are supposed to 'hang out' and do some cool stuff..i was not fortunate enough to be directly involved in MAD,but it is always a cause for which I've stood for..so..for those of who are still sleeping..its high time you asked yourself. ..'Am I sane enough to be MAD??'..
Well....am glad to be MAD. It would be too cliched to say that being with MAD changed my life...but well, it made me realise that I need to do other things in life. Mad is great 'coz it helps me hone my language skills and put them to the best use possible...educating others. The children are adorable...despite us shouting at them, the threats of punishment etc..they still eagerly look forward to us coming..take down our phone numbers, call us their sisters... All they need is someone to show them a little love and appreciation and they will be loyal to you after that...it's a great feeling. The one minus star is for the chaos that sometimes happens with the syllabus....but otherwise MAD is great...
I got to know about MAD through my colleague, where it educates children good spoken english and computer knowlegde which is a basic need for today's gneration. MAD sets a great example in serving people and does its best.
'Far and away the best prize life offers us is the chance to work hard at work worth doing' - Theodore Roosevelt. This is what I believe makes 'Make A Difference' truly exceptional. Acts of kindness come in all forms. From feeding a hungry person to helping a blind person cross the street. The biggest contribution an educated man can make to the society is imparting his knowledge and wisdom to anyone who asks for it. This philosophy is deeply rooted within every person associated in this organisation. The most satisfying experience is to see children dream about making a difference when they go out in the world.
i think MAKE A DIFFERENCE indeed bridges inequality by using a better resource : EDUCATION Best wishes from my side.
I attended a workshop conducted by mad where i came to know that MAD is a group of stUdents and working proffesional who take out time from the weekend to educate under priviliged children on English n computer. Their small effort will make a big diffrence in india's future.
Amazing... Just speechless about the effort these MADdies put... wow... I have been noticing since a long time, their struggle for Kids, struggle to survive the challange.. they have been struggling adn struggling and still continuing with SMILES...!! Hats off Team.. Hats off Maddies... Keep it going...!!!
hello everyone.. I have been a volunteer with MAD(pune) for almost 2yrs now. Its been a fulfilling experience and is a great way to contribute in a little way towards literacy... I dont see a reason to quit Making A Difference Aparna
I've been associated with MAD for over two years now. While searching for a non-profit to be associated with, I chose to support MAD because their work has very direct and discernible results. The focus on teaching English allows for the entire organisation to work towards only one thing, and the results are equally easy to see. Many non-profits have too many goals, and after a while the purpose gets lost. MAD's strength is the clear focus on one objective.
I heard about MAD through my cousin, and i feel they are doing some great work, in true sense ' Making A Difference'.
The graoup is doing a very good job by educating the needy. I am happy to learn that this org has taken the initiative to educate the children.
I have beenn hearing about MAD Mangalore from a long time from my frens who have sneaked some time out for the Kids.. No matter what they make it to the class and teach.. the kids are attached to them and they just love the classess
I am a journalist and it was during the course of my work for a city supplement that I learnt about MAD. I must say the commitment of these youngsters to the cause is amazing. I attended a video conference of MAD where they were discussing the possibilities of bringing laptops to underprivileged children. I was especially struck by how the college students on the team had interesting observations to offer. In fact, I am so inspired by the enthusiastic MAD team at Cochin that I am thinking of signing up as a volunteer.
I came to know to about MAD through one my friend Kiran.MAD is an initiative by group of people who dared to think differntly.I congragulate each and every volunteer for making THE difference.Wish them all success in their upcoming endeavors.
I was a member when mad was at the very beginning of its days.. sadly i wasn't a major contribute to this great cause.. Now it brings me joy to see the amount of change MAD has brought to society, kids, and to members of mad.. Changes are huge... Keep up the Good work.. Someday i could also contribute toward MAD.. Someday
It is so gratifying to see young citizens of India being passionate about the community and chipping in their little bit to improve the life od children in India. It is commendable especially considering the fact that elders with much more reach and monetary backing are turning a blind eye to this growing need..it is an example for the government to learn the fact that small deeds can make a huge difference. Paul K Jacob, Architect
Students of our age, studying in colleges, taking up the responsibility to bring up the under-privileged brothers and sisters is really appreciable. And being a part of that fraternity makes me proud too. This is the way how we can change the world. This is how the love can be spread across. Be a part and We can improve the lives of our little brothers and sisters.............
I have heard about MAD through some of my closest friends. These are a bunch of dedicated young people who are committed towards doing their little bit to the society. Education today is a basic need, and these guys are helping the unfortunate ones get this basic need. Its very touching to see this dedication from a bunch of young people come out to teach little children. Their tools are simple fun but gets the message across. All the best Guys keep up the good work
MAD About Something That Matters ! A tireless campaigner - MAD is a true lobbyist for children and change. The energy and passion with which the team at MAD works, be it fund-raising, be it motivating & supporting the under-privileged children with their enthusiasm & dedication they are truly exemplary ! The catalyst for change they are, educating & reinvigorating the children - the true inheritors ! I have been associated with this noble cause more as a donor assisting the frontline workers identify others. The amount of drive and determination that these workers move around with. They as individuals, their conduct, their cause, the team players they are, collaborative style of working with other organisations, the inspiration they are to their peers. They influence the youth around them - their peers in activities like these, to chanellise the 'energy of the youth' in productive & constructive channels. Such initiatives embibes a sense of service which further percolates only to enable them become a better citizen, an asset to the community & creative administrators. The innovative ideas they are to bome up with, the PR skills they need to project for the desired couple to make these 'cause champions' market compliant for the next career leap. They are dedicated to enriching the lives of others. The combination of business acumen and dedication to innovative social services is a rare blend that will serve our community well into the future. Would also like to make a mention of the on-line platform they put to use to remain in touch with the patrons, keeping them posted on all their initiatives adds to the transperancy in this sceptical, doubt-cast world. Their passion and vision for strengthening people, families and communities is apparent to everyone they meet. As a donor giving to charity or “prosocial spending” makes me happy. The so-called helper’s high.
I think MAD is doing great work in the field of educating young children who can't afford proper means of education. The members take out time religiously to spend hours with the kids and to give them a few moments of happiness.
"Of all the lovely things created by God..the most beautiful and divine are children.." say a quote..so making a difference in the lives of these divine creations of God are MADsters..members of MAD..a youth volunteer network..who teach english to underprivileged children for two hours a week..as everybody knows.. the English language is one of the most popular, recognised globally, complicated yet beautiful..it's a must to know english these days..so that's what the MADsters are trying to do..make a difference in the lives of these kids..and make them have a good future..so all the best MADDIES!!
Children are the future of our country..and helping the children to have a good future is MAD - Make A Difference - an NGO that comprises of individuals of all age groups, genders and all communities..all nationalities..basically people who are ready to give up two hours a week..to teach underprivileged children English..and make a difference in their lives..so best wishes to MAD..keep the message going and keep up the good work!!
One organisation which has changed my life!! Joined about 6 months back and have loved it since then! am a sunday teacher and the pleasure dat ive gained through mad is immeasurable!!
Have heard of MAD through a lot of friends. It is spread all over the country. The venture to help the poor children definitely is a noble cause.Request every reader to contribute in teh best possible way to MAD and help the less blessed to lead a happy life like us!
M.A.D is the best example of what you stand to gain by reaching out to the less privileged. Two hours on a Sunday morning, surrounded by kids with cherubic smiles, a yearning to learn and their hearts brimming with love - the best weekend one can ever have! Make a difference in your lives as you make one in theirs, 'coz M.A.D really gets you thinking about how much blessed we all are. As always, this review is dedicated to all the M.A.D kids!!
i was general public.my daughter works with MAD.i liked their objective of helping under privileged kids.My daughter keeps telling me about their activities..i am happy that even this generation has got something to do for people who are in need.I wish them all the luck
I recently joined the MAD foundation and I am very impressed with the commitment of the youth in India for bringing about positive changes in the lives of the underprivileged. This shows that we are no longer wanting to sit back and curse the darkness...instead we are lighting a lamp.
MAD - Make A difference - is a youth volunteer network comprising of kind hearted individuals who give up two hours a week to teach underprivileged children english to enable them to have a good future.Personally I am proud to be a part of this organisation as interaction with the innocent and loving children gives us so much of joy and it is a pleasure to do something to help them have a successful life ahead. So youngsters please come ahead and help to Make A Difference!!
MAD... came to know about it through.. a MADster... Visited to 2 children's homes .. and i really saw .. how those kids faces brightened up.. Its not only that ur helpin kids around..it gives you to a personal satisfaction and the joy on those kids face is infectious. MAd is doing a real gud job...
I know people who work for this organisation and it's heart-warming to see the difference they make in the lives of the children they teach.
MAD is testimony to the fact that each of us can truly make a difference in making things better for the underprivileged. It's truly enthusing to see the passion, energy and commitment that the MAD group of youngsters keep putting in to build on their initiative. The best part is that their contributions are very practical and make a high impact in genuinely improving the lives of the young children.
MAD is truly 'Making A Difference' in the most noble way by educating the future of the world. Its selflessly initiative to reach out to the under privileged children and trying to brighten their future. As the saying goes, 'Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.' and MAD is doing just that! Way to go MAD!!!
A great iniatitive by the driven youth of the country,MAD has showed helping the needy ones has no specific timeline to it.MAD by providing basic english and math skills to underpriviliged tots has proved to be a shining becons to thousands of children ensuring them a happier and brighter future.
i have been a mad volunteer for the past one and a half year. i teach computers at YMCA boys home, Ernakulam. to pass knowledge is something that immanence satisfaction, and when you can pass knowledge to the needy and under-privileged, its the best deal. to help the young ones with their doubts n queries, all so excited and enthusiastic to know more about the computer world. its never nonprofit, the profit is happiness and satisfaction.
I learnt about MAD two years back when a group of my friends were wanting to teach English at orphanages. MAD came across as a vibrant, energetic, young team with the vision to bridge the inequalities in society. They showed no hesitation to launch its second wing in my city, Chennai. Today, MAD has marked its presence in 10 other cities, making it evident that youngsters of today are focussed to make a difference. Hearty wishes to expand and reach out to as many underprivileged and possible.
I was new to MAD 6 months before but now i had every idea about MAD programs.I love kids very much so keeping that in mind my friend informed me about MAD.I didn't have any idea about MAD before and after recruitment i was totally gone mad by listening to their ideas of helping unprivileged people and i really got inspired by these enthusiastic MAD organizers.Coming to children they are so sweet that they treat us like their close people. As a part of this organization i am totally satisfied with their work and my work too.I had in my mind from my tenth standard to become a part of this type of organization and help people and my dream came true by joining MAD......and i will be with this organization for ever and teach children like this.
MAD is more than just another organization catering to teaching, It is immaculately structured and well run, making sure that the children we teach receive proper education that they enjoy and that will be of superb use to them in their lives. What MAD delivers is education that'll help these kids earn jobs that will be respectable and intellectually stimulating. Working with MAD has been a true learning as well as fun experience. Lets hope we achieve higher standards and keep the zest up!
MAD has given me the most wonderful experience of my life. it is great to work with an organisation like MAD. though it has been just about one and a half month since i became a part of MAD, but the sense of pleasure and happpiness that i get in teaching the under-priveleged children of the society is completely out of this world. i am teaching students of classes 6-8. the moment i reach the orphanage, these chidren greet me so affectionately. some people would find it hard to believe that these children actually want to study and that they actually wait for us to come and teach them.
MAD has truly evolved itself into one of the best youth movements ever to uplift life of the underprivileged children through education. I got opportunity to work with MAD Kochi for 6 months in 2009 and its been a wonderful experience. I worked as the Placement Coordinator for one of the centers in Kochi. With such a dedicated team which is growing daily, I am confident that this group will definitely bring about a great change in the lives of the poor and the needy in India
MAD has been successful in identifying the key factor that can take this nation from where it is to where it ought to be....."EDUCATION". Not only that, the organization has come forward to contribute to promoting the cause. What sets MAD apart is the true strength behind it, it's dedicated and committed volunteers who put their heart and soul into transforming MAD from an organization to a social movement. The opportunity MAD has given me to teach under priveleged kids has taught me more than i have taught the kids, something i had never contemplated. Joining MAD was a decision to give to society on my part, but i ended up receiving more than i could ever contemplate.
Heard about this organisation through a friend. Was very much impressed by their zeal to actually reach out to the underpriviled & impart to them the knowledge which they would never have imagined in their wildest dreams. Way to go people
I have been hearing about Mad Mangalore from my friends, and i feel that its an great initative to help the uderprevilaged kids. Taking time from busy sched. to make them smile is appriciated.
I recently came to know about MAD, which is a group of young people working amongst orphans and providing them a quality education. I really appreciate the way the team is conducting the innovative work shops like communication skills, computer classes etc. This is really a great initiative these team has taken and I wish the hard work to continue to build a strong foundation for those kids.
I teach 5th std kids computer basics as a MAD volunteer. The kids are fun and the teaching part is a joy. But the thing I didn't expect is that - I learned more than I taught.
As a well wisher and an Ocassional volunteer, I have enjoyed and like the concept of this organization. The team is putting their 100% to tranfer the best to the kids. The entire team is Brilliant and deserve all the support. I just hope the team is sucessfull in meeting their goals, Educating and opening new avenues to the under priveleged in the field of sports, Arts, Defense etc.... I wish them all the sucess and i hope to provide my srvices i every possible way. Keep rockin...keep it livley.
Recently I attended a workshop conducted by MAD to spread awareness about them, this is apart from the time I used to spend with MADDIES at my work place. This is a group of woking professionals and students who take out time from their hectic schedule. Its amazing to see them work together overcoming hurdles (monitary, language, logistics etc) to make a difference in a childs life .... soon they will make a differnce in million of underpriviliged children.
When one wonders as to why a group of individuals get MAD [enough to make a Difference]...when u ponder the motivational force behind this venture...u realize its quite simple actually...educating those children, providing them with the basic essentials to survive in these gruesome times....its like that single stroke of color in an otherwise gray life,a more perfect stage could not be asked for.....unlike the rigmarole of classrooms everywhere their syllabus is innovative and results speak for themselves.....these efforts put together certainly make the Difference!!! A Difference that'll take us to our righteous place under the sun!!!
I hear about MAD every single day, about things they do,things they plan and the way they work. And its simply awesome!!!!! I have been with MAD Mangalore from teh time of the Blue print, actively involved in talks advices, planning etc etc
ive bin involved wd mad 4 a coupla months nw..its nt js gud, its gr8..bein a part of it ws rly humbling..d pple r amazin, d kids even more so..way 2 go..maaad!!
Its been 8 months since i have been working with my Team (MAD)Mangalore, which has given me a opportunity to see a SMILE on faces of KIDS from St Aloysious childrens home. Only goal is to keep on working towards making that SMILE last forever and ever and ever..........
I came to know about mad from a friend and have been associated with it for a month now. This month has
Actually i don't have an experience... But heard a lot about your organization from my friend Nadheem... Its really good to know that there exists organizations like this... Three cheers :)
I heard about this Make a difference community from my long time friend Nadheem. Its quite appreciable fact that there are youngsters who actually came forward taking up this initiative. Congratulations to the team. Its really great to give some lights to the lives of the needy. And Make a Difference team has already did a great leap towards the same. I too go for similar activities as a part of my company’s goodwill. But MAD has a broader perspective towards the mission for helping the needy. All the best team towards your noble mission to make a difference…
MAD is a fantastic organisation... i was told abt it by a frn of mine who worked in there n sheaskd me whether i cud help her in that ... i jus said yes , n thats one 'yes' id never ever regret.....we r with u MAD
MAD is a young and energetic team commited to the society more than any thing else. The effort they took to educate the kids at st antony's boys home in Ullal is an eye opener for people who just preach service. The difference in those kids answers it all. This is what i learned by associating with MAD.." I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the something I can do." Kudos MAD!!
I was always looking for an opportunity to teach and I found the right platform in MAD. I believe MAD provides educated youth with a wonderful platform to contribute meaningfully to those who need help. Having taught a small class of 7 kids, I have realised the tremendous potential and talent in these kids which they are not able to nurture because of lack of opportunities. The feeling of happiness and satisfaction one gets after teaching a bunch of kids all eager to learn is amazing and great. I believe in the cause for which MAD works and that it truly provides youth a way to make a difference.
MAD is a very unique experience. it is really great to go out there and teach the kids. It gives great satisfaction and makes me feel that i am doing ma duty towards my society.
I first met the MAD group as a trainer- I did two years of teacher training and now, I have stayed on with them as a friend and possible resource person. When we first met in 2007, the group was looking for 'process-training'- how to teach the children in the orphanages so that it was different from school, fun, yet meaningful. In the past two years, they have moved towards working with EZ Vidya and developing a 'syllabus' and several other guides and support materials so that the young volunteers (average age: 19-22) can feel confident about teaching the children. Monitoring of volunteers, training, sharing experiences, blogging- all these are part of the MAD approach. Commitment from these youngsters (who could as easily find a million other things to do during the weekends) is what has kept the concept of teaching the less fortunate children alive. MAD now has a presence in several cities apart from Cochin, where it all began. And the results are there to see: happy children in the orphanages who enjoy the company of their weekend teachers, improved academic results and managements/committees who now request MAD volunteers to work with their children. I think that MAD has made great strides in doing what they set out to: giving the children in the orphanages a life by giving them competence in English. Ratan Gopinath Bangalore
well i had great fun everytime i had gone to teach those kids ...when i actually went for the first time and saw those kids i was amazed to see those kids with great potential and talent ..then i felt that our country is loosing out on soo much !! And Am really proud to be a part of this organisation , as it not only helps these kids but also our country to develop . More than it being like job its more like a learning experience ...we get to learn a lot during this entire process and it helps us to grow as a person .. in simple words ..MAD rocks :) :)
Had a lovely first day with the kids and the MAD group. I was initially apprenhensive about handling so many kids (I'm new to this!!), but the enthusiasm (MAD word!!) of the kids and the volunteers is really infectious! We seem to be making a significant difference in the lives of these and several other kids in the few hours of our volunteer work, and it's all down to MAD's vision and terrific support group. I have enjoyed the experience till now and it can only get better!! Go MAD!
well i always wanted to contribute something to the world but did not get the right path to follow.I thought mad is the best way through which I can contribute by teaching kids. After sometime they become a part of your life and you end doing anything and everything to make them successful in life. Hence i feel that every individual should contribute just somw time to make a difference in one's life and to make them also feel special.
Make a difference stands for change, change in the attitudes of the people and the general notions because here it is believed that an individual has the ablity to contribute in his capacity to the ever important cause of child education.Right from the day of the orientation for the interested volunteers through the subsequent discussion, brainstorming with like minded people i have always realised that true fulfilment can only be achieved by working for this cause. "A loving heart is the truest wisdom" Charles Dickens. it really gives me a sense of achievement when after my mad teaching session i recollect the faces of these children filled with enthusiasm. Not to forget that the lessons I take away from them have helped shaped my personality for the better. In all,by spending a couple of hours every week with the kids,i feel a sense of self worth and personal accomplishment. "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader" John Quincy Adams Being in mad has got me a great circle of friends,a great support system, and these are just a few of the things im thankful to the organisation for. "and miles to go before i sleep ... and miles to go before i sleep." Robert Frost ive taken my initial steps in this journey of life..much more needs to be done.being a member of MAD makes me believe sky is the limit if you really want to make a differene!
I have been a volunteer with MAD for about 3 years now and I would vouch for the impact they have had not only on the children they reach out too but also on me. My two children often accompanied me when I went for classes(to teach English) and they were influenced not only by the children but also by the volunteers at MAD into becoming more responsible- personally and socially. I am proud to be part of this organisation and hope to continue my association with them for as long as possible.
my dad always told me "wen u gt a opportunity to something good ,grab it!!!",and thats what i tried to do when i joined MAD,n i couldnt av made a better decision.it feels great 2 kno tat i am makein a differnce in a small yet significant way...:)
This is an organisation where i see a number of people who are intending to do something useful for the society in their valuable time gets togethor. MAD serves as the only platform which is so close to the college students and caters to the needy around us. Activities like taking classes for the orphans requires serious appreciation. The people in MAD are really committed to their work and hence a dedication and discipline is evident in their activities. People from all fields of life irrespective of age, but having a common intention to get to the common man make use of this extremely well. Am sure that what MAD is doing right now is some thing that nation builders of our country really wanted the youth of India to do.Their services will defenitely be rewarded by the LORD.
Am really proud 2b a Madster…!!! My valuable experience so far been g8t always in different way, its d best place for a youth 2prove one self as well as learn many things out of it… teaching different age group of kid’s with different mentality is not a easy task, but d best part is the way d syllabus is structured, lots of activities for teaching a particular topic includes more fun and quick learning… which make kid’s more easier to learn n with enthusiasm learn faster n participation. I always wait for that one day to spend in teaching with kids… only to get myself boosted by that innocent n charming SMILE’S on their faces… I FEEL SO BLESSED, being part of MAD…!!! And most importantly in MAD each n every single person are so caring, friendly, lovable, dedicated, hardworking who always busy MAKING DIFFERENCE.!!! Beleive me teaching kids gives you lots of happiness comparing to anything in world… I personally learned lot of things n still learning out of it… MAD changed my life n am really happy for it... ijust wanna say thank you very much MAD - you simply rock… n thanks to everyone out der..!!!
My introduction to MAD was through an old classmate and friend who is deeply involved with its work and its extremely passionate about it. Over the one weekend that I worked with MAD, I sensed immense passion in 20 somethings make a difference. It was great working with such a focussed group of people. I wish I could continue working with them for longer.
My name is Pranav and I am a standard 8th student of choice school in Cochin. The first I saw and heard of the members of MAD were when they came to our school to meet with the interact club. I noticed how quickly they could take our minds from other distractions and make us feel how previleged we were to be studying in such and school and also how many other children will be on the streets instead of studying. I don't know how many of them, but I wanted to be a member of MAD that second. Such was the power their words had and not only that. We were expecting old people to be giving us lectures, but instead we saw a bunch of students who were just some years elder than us. So we felt free to interact with them and talk to them. I really do think that they are going towards such a cause that may once result in them winning the Magsaysay or even a Nobel Prize. Always be MAD
actually i wondered how these youngsters r kind enough to spare a part of their time for the deserted kids in this mechanised life where we r running out of time.i was a happy spectator of the services lent by the volnteers of the organisation when i went with my volunteer friend.they reminded me that still there r lending hands n kind hearts enough to extend help at times of need in our modern society.this is a really good initiative which could go a long way in inspiring others n the government too.i am proud of my friends for their services.i forgot everything during the time spent with the kids enjoying the warmth love n affection shown by them
Its been five months since I have been associated with MAD and it has made some significant changes in my life and attitude towards life for sure. It has given me a new perspective, a more mature and compassionate outlook, I feel it has helped me to become a better human. They have given me a platform where I am living my childhood again and this time in a different and fun manner as the teaching techniques and methods provided by MAD to us are such that kids actually look forward to learn them without any pressure. The motto of MAD is to make a difference in the lives of not so fortunate children, however; in a way those kids have made a difference in my life as now I look at my life in a different way altogether. I am more happy, more patient and more enthusiastic for things now and its because of MAD, so a genuine thanks to all the MAD family members.
My daughter is a volunteer with make a difference and i see a marked difference in her behaviou nd thoughts about society and other people. This makes me happy! The selfless growth amongst teenage children is very satisfying to a mother. MAD has helped me in this!
I've joined MADD recently. Its been an amazing and an eye opening experience. It gave me an opportunity to fulfill one of my earnest desires that was to teach. The timings alotted are at my convinience, hence adding on to my satisfaction. The course structure given to us is both easy to understand and make our students understand. The system of working out a Substitution is the best part which doesnt compromise either on the teachers' or on the students' part. The complete set up and working of MADD is very transparent with easy accessibility to everyone involved with the organosation. It feels freat to be associated with an organisation of this kind. SHRADHA NAWAL
I have always wanted to make a difference To the world we live in I have always wanted to make a difference But just didn’t know how I have always wanted to make a difference And one day, as I was walking along the road I happened to see a MAD volunteer Patiently teach a child What is MAD, you may wonder! Well, I wondered too MAD is a volunteer network Of young people Who want to make a difference… I thought, “This is a good idea To actually Make a Difference” I asked the volunteer “How do I become MAD?” She told me, “If you are a dedicated, Enthusiastic, eager, and keen person, Who wants to do a little for this world of ours, Join up now!” Now I am MAD! I teach English To underprivileged kids I am Glad I joined MAD I finally Make a Difference To this world of ours…
my friendas a volunteer and i really appreciate this organisation for wat theyre doing i congragulate all for their wonderful work and hope you continue this great work
Life changing in all ways was my experience with MAD. Every day spent , every kid we touched upon , every milestone we set, every hour we spend for the cause , were an experience in itself . Most of all the smiles we saw in our kids face was the best of all, priceless to sum it up . No matter what ever targets i had set for my kids and classes , every step I had treaded towards it fills me with great pride n joy. Above all, the friendships I gained in this sojourn with fellow MADsters had been a gift for the lifetime. MAD for me is a group of people who are nothing short of great, who dares to think differenlty , who had ventured forward to make a difference and most of all believes they can achieve it Many a result of ours may be intangible or non-quantifiable , but the way it is benefitting our kids is the real reward.
MAD is a fantastic organisation which allows for those who are keen to help to actually get involved, in an easy and fun way. It looks at education from a more holistic perspective, and tailors its syllabus to be meaningful, fun and interactive i.e. REAL Learning and Life Skill Impartation for the kids. This I believe is what sets it apart from other NGO's. I truly believe that if we instill the MAD spirit in everyone, we can CHANGE India.
My association with MAD (Delhi) made a difference not only in the lives of those children but also in my life. It is challenging to get those kids from the ground to the classrooms, it is often difficult to make them concentrate even when playin games or singing songs in the class but what matters the most is when I see my students greet me with a "good morning" or when we have a good chat in english about criket or a movie. It is amaizing how talented the children are and I feel that it is our responsibility to give them the tools i.e. education to enhance those skills and show them to the world. My sundays are spent well just because of the time I spent having fun with those kids. I'm lucky to be associated with MAD and the day any of my student is earning his living I know I have contributed something in his life.
I had a great experience with MAD. These guys are simply great- finding time to help their fellow beings by sharing knowledge.
My experience so far has been great..I was honoured to be chosen as a volunteer in MAD and it's been a lovely experience teaching the children..seeing their happy faces that light up with joy when they see you..trying to pacify the naughty kids into sitting still in the class and learn english..their never-ending exuberance and liveliness..oh so great!!It's also been great meeting all kinds of people who give up two hours a week of their valuable time to make life better for the kids...MAD given us the youth a purpose..to make a difference and do something for our country..for children belong to the future and they will do something for our country in future and make it proud of them..so heres cheers for MAD..hip hip hurray!!!
what can i say about mad ...guys lemme tel you 1 thing this organization has altogether transformed me into a totally confident youngster who can face any hurdles of life bravely ...i would give a brief snapshot below about hw i was "before" joinin mad and "after" joinin mad hiee my name is shashank m into mah final year bcom at present "LYF BEFORE MAD"--FREINDS OUTINGS PARTIES GALS ORKUT FACEBOOK SMS CARS BYKES ...I WAZ CARELESS AND DIRECTIONLESS...LOL "LYF AFTER MAD"---CONFIDENT OUTSPOKEN TOUGH LEADER BRAVE CAPABLE OF FINDING SOLUTIONS 4 DIFFERENT KIND OF PROBLEMS ETC ETC... :-) AND NOW M WORKING TOWARDS DA SAME DIRECTION AND I WILL ENSURE DAT DA KIDS I TEACH WUD ALSO TRANSFORM THEMSELVES IN DA SAME WAY ...I WUD LIKE 2 CONCLUDE BY SAYIN DAT MAH XPERIENCE BEING IN 'MAD' ND WORKING AS A 'MADSTER' 4RM DA PAST 1 YEAR WAZ SIMPLY SUPERB ..MAD ROCKS
there's bin no better story to tell than my days wid MAD...the best experience evr...nvr bin more inspired or passionate bout netn as much as to have bin able to b of help to our kids...
Over the past 8 months I have grown to identify myself more with MAD than with anything else. It has become an integral part of my life and keeps me grounded to reality. The zest of all those involved in this selfless endeavour is directed by the sole motto of making a difference to the lives of not so fortunate sections of the society who being the legitimate children of time are deprived of what life today has to offer. Most of the decisions here are taken by asking one simple question "How do our children benefit from it?" and this very outlook makes the MAD experience truly addictive.
I have been teaching in MADD for the past 6 months and i feel that the journey till now has been amazing.according to me this is a give and take relationship, have learnt lot of new things during all the sessions.the end result of every class is total satisfaction and trust me thats the best feeling ever.Great to be a part of MADD family.
Have heard about MAD through one of my friend and came to know in deep about it. Its services goes for the welfare of the society, like teaching the poor and helping the needed one's. Volunteered by youngster's with managing capability of well matured Human's having the full josh to 'Make A Difference'. Whenever i hear about any organization similar to this i had the feeling that it wouldn't last for long. But MAD is an exception which has proved itself. The word MAD itself shouts out loud and clear - "Make a Difference". My Very best wishes to all the MAD teams...
Make a difference (MAD for short) is living proof that the youth of today still think about and work for the well-being of society. I came to know about MAD just as I started thinking that there was no good left in the world! And yea, I sure was wrong.. Lets put aside the positive energy and teamwork for awhile; its fun! Taking class every weekend is like an end of the week break. Apart from teaching, I've learnt a lot just by being a volunteer at MAD, facing stage fright and interacting with kids to name a few (I honestly never thought I could take care of children, having been away from my younger cousins as they grew up and all).. Glad to be a part of MAD :)
MAD , Make a Difference....Indeed the organization adheres to its name in every way... I've never seen such an organization in my entire life. Many organizations just tend to be active only for few months and then slip into the backstream.. But this organization is stillgoing strong, despite the lack of fund.Wishing it all the success possible in the coming years !!! Start Making.A.Difference now :)
i had been through the training of mad mangalore. and had taken up 2 classes till now. in such a short time seeing MAD grow was amazing. ive helped myself realise so many things and seeing children and teaching them english has been wonderful for me. not only for the children but i feel totally rejuvenated after the teaching session. its wonderful working with mad. what i enjoy most is the enthusiasm of the youngsters who have joined along with me. its amazing at how so many ppl devote their time for such causes. its few in number but atleast its sumthing. i love my mad mangalore team because they are doing an excellent job n m proud to be part of it.
Heard abt MAD thru ma frenz and not to mention, wut a solid initiative!!! A bunch of educated adults leadin the next generation for the good. Like the name suggests, yeah this is wut u call - 'makin a difference'; by sharing your knowledge and education with the little ones who may not have the kind of privileges and facilities that you had when u were at their age. This is the best wealth that we can donate to the upcoming generation - knowledge... Way to go MAD!!! ;)
I have been indirectly associated with a friend of mine who is involved with MAD. I have always admired the efforts that this organisation has put in to make a difference to the world we live in. Hats off to the team that makes it happen...
have been hearing about MAd for quite along time.it has been working for the goodness of society, the most attractive service of them being teaching the poor. I extend all my supports and wishes to this great initiative.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE (MAD) is a wonderful organisation. as far as i know them , it is a team of youngsters-confident and self reliant- who wanted to make a difference, a positive difference , in the society. it is really wonderful and it gives us hope. it gives us solace to see that youth can think of positve changes in the society. They have positve energy which they use to change the lives of less fortunate brothers and sisters in the society. This in turn will have multiple impacts as it helps to support many others whom they supports who in turn will develop us a positive citizen , and the chain continues to grow big. The present world is said to have lost all moral social values and we hear acts of terrorism and selfishness day by day. But here is a breeze of solace from the part of educated youth , who are committed to make a positve difference inthe world. learning from the experience of the collegues more and more youth are coming forward to join the team and they have a sense of belongingness, a sense of ownership and committment to their brethern and the world they build will definitely be a better world. let us support them, appreciate them , encourage them to grow really big , so that the different world they are making will defintely be a better world to live in peaceful harmony. All the best to you MAD!!!
The first time i heard about MAD was from a friend who is very actively involved with the group and in my mind as she mentioned it in passing i thought of it as a bunch of youngsters try'n to do some good around them in a small way as and when they find time. But when i actually got a chance to interact with them on a one on one basis, i realised that the group was extremely professional in their outlook and approach, spirited and organised. Though they were lacking in funds that didn’t seem to dampen their spirit. In a country where we are constantly pointing fingers at the govt and authorities for not doing their job, its nice for someone to have taken on the onus of bringing about a change.
I was with MAD in the initial stages of its development. It has come a long way since then. I found the experience so overwhelming and felt it taught me to appreciate the things I have in life. It help me get myself grounded. I learnt that even kids who are less fortunate have big dreams just like us. It made me happy that MAD was in some way or the other encouraging them to achieve these dreams. Made me realise that we have it alot easier, we have everything handed to us on a plate. Enormous efforts are still being made by MAD today to try and spread the cause. Im really proud that it has branched to other cities as well. The 'MAD bug' is multiplying bringing more and more of the youth together to try and give back to society.
In my opinion MAD is the youth revolution of this century. As a volunteer i set out to make a difference in the lives of others only to discover i have made a difference in my own life. Its my 3rd year in MAD & I can vouch for one thing, its made a great difference in the life of the kids we teach and ya also mine in a bigger way...
I came to know about MAD at my college.I got very much inspired by d work being done by organisation.I have been in MAD for d last 4 months. When i first met the kids i thought they are really notoroius,as and when i started interacting with them my impression on them completely changed.I feel very satisfied teaching the kids. Its their enthusiasm which make me teach them better. After joining MAD i felt very proud of myself that i could do something for the kids.PROUD TO BE A MADSTER!!!
its goood to see our generation findin time frm their busy schedule and we can see how fast mad is growing....i reallly wish all tthe very best to all memebers...keep the goood work on...god blesss u alll !!!
There is little more fullfilling than working with the development of children and MAD offers individuals this opportunity, which makes a simple process of connecting and individuals passion to societal development happen! I have had an amazing time working with the organization and the children with MAD. It#s a fabuloud network of highly motivated individuals who collectively are making a big differnce to India!
Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire. And MAD is doing a phenomenal job in igniting a spark and bringing light into the lives of countless children who are less fortunate. I am glad to be associated with such an enthusiastic and a dedicated group of individuals and it is a life changing experience to be working for such a noble cause. I wish MAD great success in all their endevours and am confident that together we can MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
I know MAD through a very dear friend of mine who I know is very very committed to the cause of making a difference where it really matters. Thorough perssistence and hardwork of its people differentiates this organisation from the others. MAD's model of development not only provide basic education to the children but also through its progressive methods addresses intrinsice needs of a child while preparing them for the future. MAD REALLY MAKES A DIFFERENCE to our society by giving us good human beings.
WELL I GET GREAT PLEASURE AFTER TEACHING THEM ON WEEKENDS. NOW I GET A FEELING THAT I AM DOING SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE TOWARDS THE SOCIETY. I FEEL AWESOME.
I still remember MAD's humble beginnings and how my close friend was actively involved in it. I too felt my need and responsibility to contribute but never did I, but the sheer growth and success stories behind MAD will be one testimony to what I will/can do for others. I wish all the best to MAD and its members .
well after havin everydays hectic schedule ....while weekend goin to centers n spendin time wid kids n teachin dem to help dem to enhance their own future ..gives me great pleasure to be a part of mad...............................
I believe in miracles. I believe in MAD. A day with MADsters and kids is nothing short of life-changing. My Sunday started like any other. Lying in bed till the sun had stopped yawning.. Getting up and brushing my teeth till I had stopped yawning.. The hot, sunny afternoon hid the evening's miracles. I had a 'date' to keep with the kids. 'Rainbow Schools'. That was the name of the place that we went to. 50+ students and less than ten volunteers. This was going to be FUN! We had activities, games and a whole load of fun planned for the kids, but the one thing that I did not anticipate was the amazing energy levels of the kids. I had worked with a few other NGOs before, and none of them had had kids who were this active and awesome! The kids truly ranged from Violet to Red. Games and music were pushed into the background of our minds as the kids took over! Language was neither a barrier nor a glitch. All the conversations were from eye-to-eye and touch-to-touch. I could not but feel that a few hours here could revitalize my sordid days and breathe life into the dreary weeks. Suffice to say, I was mesmerized! The two hours that I spent as part of MAD this Sunday were the best two hours for me in the entire month. I hope I have the luck and the blessings to have many many more of these two hours. Life has truly taken a definite upward slope! Thank you MAD; For making me feel more alive!
MAD was its inception at Kochi when i moved out to bglr. Sadly even though i'v never been part of the activities directly, i have been a keen follower of MAD from its early stages. The kind of exposture it gives to both the have's and have not's is simply amazing. The kind of clarity in process and the transparency is the factor which makes me hold the MAD team in high regards. I'm sure the team will ensure the organiszation grows and helps each and every child who would love to learn n re-learn.
I came to know about MAD from my friends who are active members of the organisation and I should say I am really overwhelmed by the hard work and dedication they put towards this noble cause.
I had lots of fun in working for MAD. I appreciate the work taken up by MAD and the way they do it. They make everyone feel at home. The work taken up by MAD is very creditable and involving the youngsters in it makes spread more awareness about the society and helps in contributing in the good work. I enjoyed teaching the kids. Its my lifetime experience. Just too awesome to forget. I hope to work there forever. Thanks
I am a core team member with MAD in Delhi. Being associated with this organisation gives me a deep sense of satisfaction in terms of social service. I feel extremely proud to help MAD make a difference. Being a core team member ,Ialso get the opportunity to interact with the volunteers of the organisation who are well read and hail from different walks of life and have come together with a common purpose of empowering underprivileged children through education. It is a joy to be a member of the MAD family.
The experience has been great so far.. i always wanted to give back to the society whatever it has given to me..but never got the right opportunity. but after getting to know about MADD ,my problem was sorted. its been just one month that i am teaching in AA. And in this short span of time i felt that these are the kids who just need a chance to prove themselves. whenever i go there to teach, the response from the kids is so motivating that i feel like giving all my knowledge at one stroke. We often say that the young and the upcoming generation is the future of our country and i strongly feel that this organization provides them the chance as well as the resources so that they can be a part of human resource in a better way.
The reason i joined Make A Difference was not because I loved teaching or because i had a special affection towards kids, which i didn't, but because i thought it would look good on my CV (I'm being extremely honest). I enrolled myself in April this year, and sat through the comprehensive training programme that MAD offers, not knowing what to expect or whether I'd even continue teaching for a year. It's been six months now and i know I'll never stop. It's honestly been a great experience, thrilling, humbling and eye-opening. The kids make the organization what it is and really any credit for its success should go to them. They're extremely hardworking and have an insatiable hunger for knowledge. In my first teaching session i asked them if they wanted to play or study, and incredulously the unanimous response was "study!!". I will never forget it. It just shows that these kids are just like you and me. They have the same brains, the same passion to learn, its only circumstances that hold them back. They are the future of tomorrow, but they need our help. I cannot describe to you the elation i feel when the class recites a poem i taught them or when a usually reserved student answers a question with confidence. If you haven't felt that, you haven't accomplished anything in life. I truly mean that. Could i enjoy teaching as much at another organization? Probably. But with MAD, it's guaranteed. What makes MAD different is its volunteers. They're all great people who are really passionate about making a difference. The selection procedure is grueling which clearly shows how important the organization considers the education of its children. After that, the volunteers are groomed with the required skills to face the classroom and impart quality education. Every session is followed by a discussion by the volunteers either in person or online about the day's teaching, the syllabus covered etc. Also, the syllabus for the next class is also decided. A strict attendance system ensures that the volunteers are regular and a regular reviewing of their performance keeps them on their toes. The atmosphere is friendly and we truly consider ourselves a huge family. I'm so happy i discovered my joy of teaching through MAD and i urge all of you to take sometime off every weekend, and instead of watching that 2 hour movie, to come here and Make A Difference!
have been working for mad for almost 6 months now... the experience has been awesome... the sheer pleasure that i feel after teaching the kids is something i ll always cherish... hats of to mad.... cheers...
most of all it feels good to be a part of something that is going to make a difference to the society in reality, it may be as little as teaching the local kids who dont enjoy the same privileges but it feels good.
I am an excited soul aspring and searching do something which would give me immense satisfaction and my search is still on. i am glad that my sister is a volunteer in MAD..hyderabad. i would defnitly want to do my might in rendering help to this organisation.
I've known the founders and the MAD team for over 2 years and I'm extremely impressed with their enthusiasm and focus. I'm happy to see the progress they have made in this time.
More than 500 young professionals from different fields and the one intention binding them ' Purposeful education for the ones who need it most'. Our team became a part of this endeavor only because of the uncompromising stance taken by MAD towards enhancing the quality of service rendered. Offering service is commendable in itself but working towards continual improvement in the service rendered makes the service heart to heart igniting the passion in all who come close, the learner and the teacher learner too.
my experience at MAD has been an amazing one.i have been teaching english at a girls orphanage where the girls do not live in a very comfortable environment.however it is unimaginable to see the kind of eagerness my kids in this orphanage have to learn,to be something.they even put many of my classmates to shame whose parents spend lacs of rupees every year on their education.its a diffferent world behind these gates.the moment you enter these gates you yourself become an innocent kid unknown to the materialistic things in this world,a complete reverse of the bad & selfish person that you are in the outside world. i never knew that just 2 hours of my time could make such a huge difference.they can actually help someone answer all their questions that they have for their lifetime.they can give someone a parent,a support,a guide who will be there for them always.someone in this world who they patiently wait for the weekend to arrive,to teach them,to care for them.these 2 hours every week has indeed been my best investment ever made in life.the returns are in the form of unimaginable love and admiration.
Being a strong believer of the "world as a dark evil sphere where no good can prevail" in the past, MAD gave me a reason to prove my beliefs wrong. MAD made me realize the potential of goodness in each individual. The power of a single entity backed by efforts of a few brave souls, could instill a change in thousands of people around the nation. Well, MAD made a difference in just not me, but to a lot of people I have known and talked to about MAD. We all blame the system, but none`s ready to get their hands dirty. We don't encourage the street children when they come begging to us for money , but we also blindly refuse to interrogate deeper into their way of life. Why arethey doing this? What motivates them to surrender their sense of pride and ego in front of us, the so called " the blessed ones "? Our way of life is the choice our ancestors took. They chose not to have their children on the roads and begging for a living. Then, did these ,the so called unfortunate ones chose to live life this way? No,they never had a choice. This was their only way to survive because they never possessed the necessary skill-set to make them eligible for a job. Our president and few of his friends who started the organization, didn`t just think out of the box to find a solution to this predicament, they ripped it open and voila, MAD was born. I came to know about MAD through a friend of mine. I joined MAD in the summer of 2008, and had worked for approximately 4 months, too short when compared to a lot of people who had been working in MAD for years. I was enlisted as a volunteer in an Orphanage called Snehabhavan in Palluruthy,Cochin. Lot of our children were rescued from the streets, railway tracks, slums etc. Lot of these children had parents at home, who used to send their wards to beg in order to earn the family some money to survive. The Snehabhavan officials rescued some of the kids from the most depressing of circumstances and had adopted them. My first day at Snehabhavan is still and will always be one of the few days in my life I will never forget. My fellow MAD volunteers helped me realize how a simple smile from our faces and our loving touch could make a world for these kids, who craved for love in each passing moment. As soon as they saw me, some of the children came up to me asked me my name, some them threw the question at me in English. Some kids just stood really close to me, hoping I would run my hands though their hair. A small kid, came close to me and tugged my jeans ,gestured at me as if to pick him up. As soon as I picked him up, he raised his hands in joy and hugged me.It made me realize how lucky and fortunate we all are. These kids were craving to be loved by someone. We at MAD love our children. Being loved and cared give them a reason to stay in these homes because elsewhere they would be devoid of this affection. We teach our children to converse in English. Once they are equipped with the skill to handle a language i.e. English used by many around the world, it will make our children more confident in studying subjects being taught to them in school and will make them competent enough to compete with other students when appearing for competitive exams. We also introduced computer education for our children. Knowing how to work on computers will help them to secure better jobs. We, with the help of the authorities of the orphanages have set up computer labs in all our centers in Cochin. I had taught the 6th and the 7th grade children. Some of my children needed more attention as their proficiency in English were not encouraging. We used to play games with our children and innovation was the key to keep a class interested. The children get bored too fast if you play the same game all the time. MAD has a lot of creative people and innovating new games to keep the children interested had never been a hurdle. I have been part of many MAD sponsored celebrations conducted in our centers for our kids. We conducted a football match "the kids vs the MAD volunteers" on the eve of Christmas`08 which we lost by a rather big margin ;). Our kids are a talented lot and some have spectacular grasping powers in learning new things being taught to them. Some kids are also very innovative and help us in improvising the already existing word-games. The efforts taken by MAD volunteers for teaching our children are tremendous. These kids become bored too quickly and many fail to understand the importance of what they are learning. We, motivate our children to learn , make them realize that they have the ability to make the choice - a better life with a decent job or a return back to where they came from, the streets. We help them to come out of the trauma that haunts them in their sleeps. We lend them the hands they could hold onto, at times of despair. We are a part of their lives now. No, wait...they are a part of OUR lives. Each day we spend with them teaching English, they teach us a far more valuable lesson, the lesson of life. They have opened our eyes to a world where all the shades of color are dull and gray. They gave us a glimpse into their lives , a world where only shades of the dark exists. But MAD has empowered us with the ability to paint their world with bright colors. With great powers comes great responsibility, and we at MAD are responsible for the future`s of our kids. MAD, will always strive to make a better future for our kids. Thanks to everyone at MAD giving me a chance to be a part of MAD.
My experience with MAD has made me a learn a lot of things and has encouraged me to revert back to a few things that I was inclinced. MAD helped me to realise my potential of being, helpful, kind and being a good guide. It has also made be a lot more patient when dealing with others.
It's been nearly 4 months since i've been associated to MAD. Through this organization, I've been able to make a little difference in the lives of those innocent kids. It feels great when the kids learn and respond to what you teach. MAD is very organized and we, as volunteers go through mentor training sessions which help us 2 deal with our kids better. I'm honored to be a part of such a great organization, which has thought of such an innovative idea to Make A Difference !!! GO MAD !!!
Its been just few months since i joined MAD... and i had visited few centres with other volunteers and i was just amazed to see the kind of positive energy and enthusiasm that the volunteers and the kids are sharing among themselves...this youth organisation,is indeed a remarkable initiative ,bringing a difference in the lives of many children across the country.
I have been part of MAD only a month now,and i work with them as a volunteer teaching the kids. Its been a great experience, getting to know the children and interacting with them. They are a warm bunch and it feels good to be a part of their lives. Also,I think the way in which this non profit has organised itself, with the member structure, the syllabus planning, the training workshops, all of it reflects intelligence, responsibility and concern. There is scope for this to increase its scale to a great extent, and hopefully that shall happen someday.
I had an opportunity to visit a camp that MAD organized for some unprevileged children. I thought I would visit, and just return. But I was amazed by the way the event was organized, and the energy of the volunteers, the enthusiasm of the participants, etc. Above all, the smile and happiness of the children stopped me and I was not able to leave till the event was over.
It feels so awesome to just be a part of this organisation..It helps us n the kids develop as individuals..In turn , we are spreading the lil knowledge tht we possess which is indeed a nice thing to do ! I'm glad we are doin well..Here's hoping that this organisation reaches greater heights..Proud to be a MADDIE ! :)
i am deeply touched by the work carried out by this organization. I had d opportunity to visit a female orphanage and help the volunteers in teaching bright and untouched minds of young children
well.......my association with this organisation is just blossoming and the more i am being a part of this ,the more i get this feeling of being useful to someone.. getting used to this responsibility has been difficult and am sure it will bring out the dedicative best in me.. really, its been awesome will hope that it remains so and i dliver my goods..
College vacations was when i discovered MAD. I was bored and thought about joining some NGO and MAD just fit the bill. Only 2 hrs per week were required and it helped less-fortunate kids with their English and cOmputer skills... It was an enlightening experience in itself.
The passion with which the existing mad members conductied the presentation and the interviews that followed made me realise that there was something truly special about this organisation. After joining up my beliefs were strengthned!Being a volunteer has given me immense satisfaction and instilled in me a sense of pride!
I am new to this organization,i got to know about it from one of my friends.I found it very interesting & challenging.Taking part in the activties of the organization makes you feel that you have achieved something in your life.So come on everybody, lets do it,we can Make A Difference..
My association with MAD began a year and a half ago. From then, this organization has brought in such a big change into my life. The only thing that i do sicerely in my life, right now is working with MAD. It was a realization that whenever you try to make a diference somewhere, it makes your life different... Now MAD is a part of my life which has taught me to find happiness among all those sorrows...ALL the best for this great institution!!!
Been in cochin and having seen the exponential growth of this NGO within a span of few years is truly worth commenting... Even though been a student's initiative..it has never shown a lack of professionalism in performing its duties!!! My prayers and support will always be with Team MAD....keep up the good work!!!
A team of such diverse and highly skilled people working towards a noble cause.... i guess all youth should take a page from this... amazing spirit... great team work... had a nice experience....KUDOS MAD!!!
i had a great experience spending time with innocent kids when i went with my friend who was a volunteer there.i am happy to say that the warmth n affection i received from them moved me.they r really craving for some love n affection n dont expect much more than that t.i decided at once that i should in some way be helpful to these deserted kids who have a bright future.
I was in Cochin last year where I had the opportunity to spend a weekend watching the MAD team at work. I was really impressed with the commitment, ownership and enthusiasm shown by the entire team to ready for the class. I was also touched by mutual fondness that the children and volunteers shared…cracking jokes and pulling each other’s legs. The classroom experience was a fun one and , to my mind, that is critical for the project’s success. The MAD team earned my sincere respect for the way they run the organization- dedicating every free second to its operations and happily sacrificing weekend-after-weekend for its cause. What’s more is that it is a fun place to work.
Because of MAD ...i have something to feel good about myself...before i go to sleep i can say "yes i make a difference ".."i contribute to society"
MAD, as the name suggests, is absolutely crazy! if I had to describe this unconventional organization in one word, it would be "passionate".. dedicated and devoted are very humble adjectives for this group of people who are so driven towards their goal to spread knowledge among the lesser privileged that it is inspirational. I've never seen a more well-organised and determined NGO. I feel honoured to be a part of this and I'm truly obliged that I was a given a chance to Make A Difference ;-)
MAD: A young blood initiative, a true service to the society one lives in. To part knowledge to the needy, to do it with an open mind and to find peace in it, kudos to the entire team. I have been there just a couple of times when my friend used to volunteer, and the effort each one of these people put in is truly admirable and has been an eye-opener. I personally am looking forward to be a part of the MAD-FAD soon.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!!at first the name captured my interest but later i understood that the deeds speak more.....it's been over 6 months since i joined MAD and since then i feel that my life is meaningful..its wonderful to spend time with the kids every week and teach them what i can......the kids make you feel so important that you feel that there is nothing more important in your life.....I'm really proud to be a part of this wonderful family.....:)
MAD has truly made a difference to my life.. The joy of being with those kids for two hours of the week is amazing !!
Helping small children to be competitive in the society is not just a social activity. MAD takes it as a real responsibility to do it. All the Best
I am interested in being a volunteer for MAD but due to other commitments I am unable to join. I have friends who are Volunteers and I am updated with the activites conducted by MAD.I had participated in fund raising with my friends.
I take photographs for MAD camps and events. When i go for theses events, the joy the kids when they see us and the enthusiasm and the hard work the volunteers put in for keeping the camp going with lots of educational and team building activities. Simple things like icebreaker sessions brings the kids together of same centers giving them a sense of belonging and friendship instead of being another face in theirs difficult life is what i feel.
I have been with MAD from the time it strted in Trivandrum,Kerala, ever since bud, MElvin whowed me wat MAD is all about, how we are literally making a differce in our kids lives, educating them as well guiding them in the path thts meant for them..I attended my first ever Trainign session in Kochin with al the MADdies in and around Kochi and was so thrilled to be working with a bunch of really amazing people..I have my class assigned to the KG kids, and trust me when i say my KG kids are th best ever..we teach them, we play with them, we dance , we all have loads fun together..one thing i feel, th time me and my friends spent with them is never enough.. Th teaching part is the best of experiences, you become a kid yourself when we are with our kids..thts th best part.. if all people could understand the true potential of these kids and help them in whatever ways and methods possible, tht would be awesomely great..i mean there are kids who are sharp and bright, who have really raw, untapped talents..waiting to spring up.. love my kids..love MAD..proud to be a MADdy.. \MAD/
MAD...a foundation initiated by young blood...I came to knowm about this foundation from a magazine a few months back and I was so inspired by it...ryt now I have a friend of mine working with MAD...for all those young bloods who want to serve the society and for all those who want to make a difference, I must say MAD is a proper channel...On this eve let me take this opportunity to wish them all the very success!!!
m jus a fresher who have joint recently n awaiting a training progrma... but so fa i feel mad's doing a great job... n m really happy to be a part of it... :-)
I was a volunteer in MAD-cochin for two years.Interacting with these kids has been a very fulfilling experience. It gave me the satisfaction of doing my bit for the society. I think MAD is a wonderful concept and its being carried forward effectively too....so go MAD indeed!
MAD has not only been doing great work with the children, they've also promoted the right culture among volunteers and about themselves well to the outside world very well. There's a lot to learn about these things by other organisations.
the people who started it really had a vision in mind which they have achieved and they are now striving hard to spread it all around India... with the help of the volunteers and every other person related to the ngo of course!!! I'll always cherish every moment I've spent as a volunteer in the Pune branch of MAD. It feels good to know that even a lil effort on our part for these children can really make a difference in their lives. According to me, all it needs now is an improvised syllabus!!
Working with Make A Difference organization is really a wonderful experience for me. The time we spent with children to teach them is my dream which become true only because of M.A.D. They(children) are very innocent as well as active during classes. For e.g. In one of my class as i completed the teaching portion of that day, before i say to pack-up all the students of my batch said "Mam please give us the home work". I really feel that they are very much interested to learn. I can say that i learned very much from these kids. So, lastly i would like to say that i always count these moments which i spent with these kids are one of the best memories of my life.Really Make A Difference make me M.A.D in a true sense.
Im a MAD volunteer from Nagpur.First time i read about MAD was on my college notice board. They were here to tell us about the organisation. Being a regular class bunker and got nothing to do,i went off to the audi to attend the meeting. After hearing about it and there efforts of genuinely making a differnece i thought of becoming a part of the team too and became a regular volunteer. This way i utilised my time in doing something good instead of wasting it. The 1st day of teaching was overwhelming....i realised at tht moment seeing the kids that how lucky i am! The first day was an ice breaker session between the kids and us, the volunteers. Regular classes are conducted on weekends for kids of different grades. The experience is simply fun and exhausting. The entire MAD team is dedicated towards there work and me being a part of it feel the same sense of responsilbilty too. Its awesome to be looked upto and being followed by the kids. They expect so much from you and want to be like you. MAD has helped me realise what little more of my efforts to these kids can make a huge differnce in there lives and indirectly in the lives of many.
i am not a part of MAD..But I have known about MAD through friends who are a part of this organisation. I also wrote an article on MAD in Westside Plus, supplement of the Times Of India and so I am well-updated regarding the activities of MAD.. I think MAD is doing something really worthwhile..Imparting education to the underprivileged ones is indeed a noble task which they are carrying out efficiently.. They epitomize the fact that the youth is a constructive force that can really MAKE A DIFFERENCE.. cheers to MAD!They really making us ponder on how we should and how we can do our bit for other..
Make a Difference is a truly inspirational paradigm of how anyone with will and determination can change the world. I have worked with the MAD folks on several occasions and their enthusiasm and belief in the children they teach are what keep them going. From a small volunteer group, they have grown tremendously and are now in 9 cities across India - building skills in thousands of low-income children. MAD is at the core of the volunteer revolution in India - over 2000 volunteers - mostly students, form the backbone of the organization. These volunteers have learned to give back to their communities - they have learned to make a difference. Their story must be told. - Prathima Rodrigues
I am not a part of the oragnization and i have put myself in the general public category.I have seen the growth of this oraganization during the past few years and the remarkable impact they have made in the life of some kids who have been immensely helped by the activities of MAD.The change they are making is an invaluable one and by just devoting a minimum time period of 2 hours in a week the organization has been able to teach the kids basic social skills such as speaking english properly and learing to use computers. Truly amazing vision and making it happen.
Make A Difference is something that Truly Makes a Difference for YOU and ME . I was lucky to be part of MAD right from the days when it was spreading its wings to serve the underprivileged. The choice of flexible hours for rendering service as well as inculcating the sense of helping our dear little brothers and sisters who await the 2 hours we spend with them each day was a rewarding experience. I still cherish the good days i served with MAD and equally proud of the new and vastly spreading volunteers who are ready to "Make a Difference".Keep up the good work . Wishing MAD the very best.
"If someone feels that they never had made a mistake in their life, then it means they had never tried new thing in their life".Thats the spirit of "MAKE A DIFFERENCE".Come join and recoganize yourself.Don't ever say that you failed in your life, but believe you dicovered a way that can cause failure. My dears, its your time, everybody come forward and first lead yourself and lead the nation
I have been seeing MAD's work in trying to help out the underprivileged children for some time. If there is a Selfless group of people who are working for the better of the others MAD is that set of people. They go out of their way to help out the others. Christmas celebrations, classes, interactions with people...etc it goes on.
Just one class old :) and the positive vibes i personally got from the children has made me even more enthusiastic of this beautiful concept called M A D. Just one emotion to express- Thanks M A D for making me a part of this noble cause. It brings with it a lot of satisfaction ath the end of everything as you are able to impart something that you have studied or aquired over the years to children who are in real need of it, let it be in a small manner or in a huge way...we sure would Make A Difference at the end of he day :)
Its been just over 4 months since i joined MAD and looking back, joining MAD has been one of the best decisions that i have made. Spending time with the kids every week has become an integral part of my life. By giving them the "power of education", MAD is assuring them of a good future ahead. Interacting with the kids has given me a lot of joy. Being the fortunate ones in the society i believe that we have a a moral responsibility to give something back to the society and MAD has gone a long way in doing it.
in a world where you are nominated for the nicest person in the world for offering someone a seat in the bus..you guys are doing a fantastic job in redefining what people perceive as nice..hopefully you will redefine excellence and achievements as well...kudos to all of you...
Being with MAD has been a two way experience for me...i have been able to teach...which i always wanted to....AND it has taught me the virtue of being grateful...seeing these girls learn and look up to us is a great morale booster..i hope i can contribute to their lives and am so damn proud to be a part of this organization..MAD Rocks!!!
I Love What the NGO stands for and Its an amazing experience to be part of such an amazing cause and it doesn't just change the society and makes it a better place to grow, i feel it made me a better person and there is so much i personally learn every time i am there.
Its an amazin xperience 1 can get.....spendin tym with those wonderful kids n gtn 2 knw dem is sumthn which makes u feel so btr.....iam hpy 2 b a part of MAD....tryin 2 mke sum difference.....
Joining MAD was one of the most enriching decisions of my life. Being with the kids made us realise that we too could make a world of difference to the lives of other people. Another facet about MAD was that it helped encourage a lot of people into social service, and made it a "cool" thing for youngsters to do. Personally, MAD helped me make a difference, and made a difference for me in the process too.
MAD is really making a difference, not just in the lives of the children but that of volunteers too as it gave us a chance to do something meaningful.Education is an asset for a lifetime and i am proud as well as fortunate to be a part of group which is really passionate in the mission of spreading the light of know;ledge..the time i spent with the children is definitely the most fruitful part of my life.lets stop cursing the darkness around us. . lets light the candle. . n really MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
my experience has been very enriching...gng to teach the kids once a week is one of the high points of my week...cz its nt jus teaching...the kids n i sing together, play together, discuss various things..so all in all its a very fun filled two hours!
mad is an organization which works with a cause....it follows its principle 'make a difference'.....i'm sure they will work towards their goal........... wishing them the very best.....
MADD is a great place to be, very organised and extremely clear in its motives and goals. It involves teaching english to underprivileged kids with a well prescribed syllabus aimed at fun n interactive learning for two hours a week. It aims at making these kids employable, self reliant and confident. The compulsory monthly meetings help the volunteers share their experiences, problems amd confusions and gives them an opportunity to learn from the varied experiences of others. This organisation aims at productive work with a student teacher ratio of one teacher per five kids making sure that the volunteers develop a good rapport with their set of kids and the kids get individual attention for better learning.
What Make a Difference does by touching the lives of each of those little ones who have no home and no real support to lean on is beyond brilliant. That there is such an organization that is sincere and dedicated in its cause is amazing and to be a part of it makes me feel complete. :)
Being a person closely watching the activities of MAD, I am more than happy with the commitment and dedication of the volunteers, and their meticulous planning and impeccable execution of the programmes for a CAUSE. Their contribution for the development of the underprevilaged will be suitably rewarded by Time. I am sure they are going to MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Joining MAD has indeed made a huge difference to me and I have learnt a lot apart from the new poems n nursery rhymes that my kids teach me :) Every Sunday is an exhilarating experience for me and I end up gaining a lot more than what I put in which for me is a mere 2 hours. I really appreciate the efforts and energy put in by the organization and all its members. The kids surely love what’s being taught and have so much fun. I am glad I have got a chance to be a child once again. Right from the first class that I took the response from the children has been so positive and encouraging that you end up feeling good about yourself and the work you’re doing. The bond that’s formed with everyone in class from the toddlers to the grown up’s is unique. I feel really proud to be a MAD volunteer and do my bit for the lovely children who have an unfathomable desire to learn and do big in life.
Just love this organisation!!! though never had any afinity to teaching, wen i heard that they help orphanage kids, it interested me. So joined and i ve enjoyed the experience. Its become a part of m life. Every sat night ans sun morning is dedicated to my kids, tryin to find sum way 2 keep them interested. After every class i feel like as if ive at least tried my best to inflence another person s life!!!
very good to what it does.....there no other group which does work like it .....it actually makes a diffrence in the society it work's........
MAD is an awesome organisation...the work they do is commendable.....and needs to be rewarded.... teaching kids is not an easy job at all...and i've seen the active involvement of college students also.... hope this organisation reaches great heights in the future....go for it~!!!and make this world a better place for our future generations also.....
They say knowledge is the best thing you can give a person....because its value is much more than any amount of money. I came across MAD from a friend of mine when they won the changemakers international award a while ago....and they follow the proverb to its roots with its interesting and socially motivated team. I found their team structure to be the most interesting with the right reporting hierarchy and each of their member knows his/her responsibilities well and executes them well too. It goes to show how professional they are in this movement and the output is good too.
Cheers to the exuberant volunteers and the innovative approaches you guys take to Make a Difference for children. I work for an NGO in Bangalore and I’ve heard about your initiatives through word of mouth. You guys are setting a wonderful example and may aid and support come to you from all avenues. Kudos
MAD is a very genuine and sincere organisation which is working for the development and well being of the under priviliged,selflessly..
i fall short of words if i've 2 write abt my exp as a mad volunteer ..its wonderful . the kidz r so loving n make u feel so wanted n they r so warm n a pleasure 2 b wid . i look 4ward every sat 2 b wid them jus like they do . its not only abt teaching them 2 speak english butt its also abt so many other issues dat they discuss wid me ...d ultimate compliment being ur like a mother 2 us ...dat indeed floored me . i share a close bond wid every child dere . my commitment love n d luv 4 teaching is paying of gradually . they r so happy all d time n dere's a smile on every child's face which teaches us a lot .no matter wht n where they r u can always c dat smile on theircute chirpy faces which makes my day . i've learned 2 count my blessings all d more .i'm v happy dat i'm a part of MAD n through this great organisation i'm trying 2 make a little difference if not a huge 1 . thanks 2 MAD dat i can interact wid these kidz .i'm happy 2b wid d kidz n vice versa.
It has been close to one year since I have become a member of this awesome family. One of the memories about Make A Difference(MAD) which will never fade away is the summer camp we conducted for the kids from a street shelter called "Thara". I remember the enthusiasm of the volunteers right from the planning phase. Each and everyone of us wanted to make those three days the best ever the kids have had till that day, and it turned to be so. There were sessions for Yoga, Art of Living, personality development, science workshop etc. In addition, kids had a great time in adventure activities such as river crossing, rock climbing, zorbig etc which helped to build confidence in them. Though I don't teach these kids I meet them once in every two months to cherish those wonderful time they have given me.
I love the work they do @ MAD..right frm d strict and well planned and executed recruitment drive for volunteer teachers to the actual execution of teaching the children MAD is top class..I thank mad for giving me a chance to make a difference not in some1's life but in my own by making me feel good by doing my bit..thanx 4 d opportunity.. I am also very impressed by MAD's professionalism and the dept. head's commitment to the activities..Even d syllabus is so well structured and planned.. Cheers to MAD !!
I found out about MAD through a friend who is a volunteer......the work they are doing is without doubt pretty incredible..keep up the good work MAD!
From the amount of work that the volunteers of MAD put forth and their dedication, I feel they can make a change to generations to come. The beneficiaries of their efforts will develop such bright futures for themselves tomorrow that the rest of the world can only look at envy at. Hats off to you people for taking time off to pass on the greater message that humanity still exists
MAD plays a very admirable role in service activities like teaching English in orphanages and developing the student's talents and self esteem. The dedicated and well trained volunteers are doing a selfless job that really deserve appreciation.
Well i am not a member of MAD but i have seen my friends work for it and its really fantastic..What else can be spirituality than touching a child's heart with knowledge and making them one day a better person to live. The life of man is not in seeing visions and seeing dreams but in active and willing service and this is what each and every member is doing.Keep up the good work and i am waiting to be a part of it very soon. And for every person who really can make a difference please me a part of it and remember this "If i am not for myself, who will be for me?if i am not for others, what am i?and if not now than when?" keep up the good job!!
I joined MAD last year because I wanted to change at least one person's life for the better. I'm not sure whether I have achieved that goal, but I sure do hope so. Spending time with the kids have made me realized how to appreciate the little things in life. The kids are some of the most affectionate, smartest and funniest kids I've seen, and I consider myself lucky to be a part of their lives.
I have not worked with MAD closely, but as an observer,I can say that it is doing an excellent job of helping the under-priveleged students of the society. The organization is unique in the way it identifies and recruits teachers and also trains them to teach. It gives the youth, who think they can do more than their usual work, a chance to contribute. Besides, it has spread quite an awareness in a short time, through its volunteers. It will be good to have MAD operate in more than the no. of locations it is in now - places in the North & the East of India sure need it.
I am new to this organization and so far the journey has simply been "awesome". The two hours we spend with the children are simply undefinable. Added to this the well planned meetings, teachers training camps, brainstorming discussions lays a great platform to approach the disadvantaged in a proper way. The perfect blend of the youth with the best syllabus at hand gives us a great tool to engineer their lives for good[:)]
I Have been voluntering since a month and the experience has been divine.... MAD is making diffrence because its just not about giving money for the cause its much more beyond that. everytime i teach kids i have the satisfaction that my skills have been used for a great cause and as youth I m not wasting all my time chilling out with friends and all. m helping a child to acieve its dream... m making my nation an Achiever :-))
MAD has given a new meaning to the existence of a lot of people. The children, because it has helped them dream big, and know they are capable of doing things like every other kid. The volunteers, because it has changed the way we look at the meaning of life.I finally think I have put my education to good use. The people who fund MAD, because this is one cause that truly makes a difference. Moreover, and I can say this for every MADster, that being a part of MAD has made us better people. The love the children shower on us is so overwhelming and unconditional. It has changed our lives forever, and not being a part of MAD is something I can't think of doing. I will be a part of it always because I'm proud to be mad. :)
Charities that donate cash to the needy are plenty. Proving food clothing and shelter is not enough. Empowering people to provide for themselves...now that's true motivation. If you want to motivate someone to live give them a chance to help themselves! Many countries have tried working on a welfare scheme basis for the unemployed but it has always failed cause that motivates laziness...when you get money for doing nothing it doesn't encourage you to live better!Isn't that why communism failed too?No motivation to take initiative? Charities need to take a page out of history and change their outlook...and that's where MAD comes in! Educating under privilaged children is giving them a chance to live and not just survive!!! I was not able to teach the kids myself due to frequent travel but I learnt about it from a friend and had to help spread the word! Empowering the youth of today is the only way to save our future.
I consider myself lucky to be a part of MAD.For me its a means to contribute whatever little i can to the society and making even the slightest difference in the lives of these children means a lot to me.Its a very humbling experience to watch their dedication and enthusiasm...it keeps me grounded.I believe that there is no deed which is more noble than that of parting knowledge.....after all when you give a man a fish you feed him for a day.Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.Putting my heart and soul into a good cause like this has given a new meaning to my life.
The work that the members of MAD have done for helping poor students get good education is something to be admired. It is also helping the youth of our society by attracting them to do good to the society. As a member of the public I really appreciate the good motives of this organization. We must support it, so that it will get the much deserved recognition.
I have joined MAD this year only. It is the best platform as you get chance to meet many people as well as know them and yourself. :)
MAD is learning not only for the underprivilrdged kids but also for the volunteers.. after bein in MAD for 2 yrs, i hve learnt a lot from the kids as they have learnt from me.. i am sure v can surely make a difference in every child.. cheers..
although iam not directly involved as yet ,MAD has alwys caught my attention. its a wonderful service, that this organisation is doing to the society, and the beauty of it all, is that the youth are involves, and they sure are a committed lot. will soon be interacting with them directly, to join as a volunteer. i hope that the MAD does well, and my best wishes to them always/
“To Bridge the inequality in society through education” Your vision says it all. I am not a member, but I love you guys for your mission. All the best. God Bless You All.
A group of super-enthusiastic kids...a bunch of motivated young volunteers and an agenda for learning, laughter and fun. The result is MADDening!!! Make A Difference has been a part of my life for the last few months and it has been an amazing experience...The organisation and its activities are conducted with utmost seriousness and integrity. At its very core, is a group of extremely dedicated volunteers teaching underprivileged kids to live better and dream big....May the madness never stop...
I simply love spending time with the kids and helping them learn English. Its one of the best things i have done in life.I feel I have done something useful in life till now.
One often wonders, what difference could one individual make, and conveniently carries on with one's own life, chasing dreams,careers..oblivious to the world around..I too was one such person..But MAKE A DIFFERENCE really opened my eyes!..i joined MAD 4 months ago as a placement volunteer, indeed after a rigorous interview!..When i went to the orphanage, that is when it really struck me..i saw these innocent faces with a glitter in their eyes!when u teach them, they just pick up with an astonishing pace..it made me realise that it was just the lack of opportunities that didn't make them one among us..we organised a few field trips to engineering college, hotel etc and camps too...the kids are like jewels to us..precious!..MAD is an awesome organisation full of ppl with zest.u hardly find any discrimination as 'junior-senior',a very well organised organisation. It has the potential to go even further... MAD indeed touches a thousand lives..realising thousands of dreams!!GO MAD!! ;)
it's been a wonderful experience interacting with MAD.. learning a lot, caring a lot, teaching a lot and by this way truely making a difference(hope so)..
I'm a MAD volunteer teaching 7th grade students at Snehabhavan, Palluruthy, Cochin, Kerala. I joined MAD with an intention of imparting quality education to the under-privileged section of the society so that the gap between the haves and have-nots is bridged. Students come from multifarious backgrounds. All students are proficient in one/many aspect(s). MAD has been a platform where these students are filtered on their adeptness and individual attention is given wherever warranted. I have been necessitated to keep the students entertained throughout the class hours. This has instilled in me the ability of "On the Spot" thinking. At times, I feel that I'm having a Déjà vu, for I find many of my childhood instances concurring with theirs. Childhood is undoubtedly the best-part of Life. So I try to imbibe in them, all that I know in the best possible way. Proud to be a MAD Volunteer! :)
I was in the 11th grade when I met a boy who is a son of a servant who worked at our home, who hails from Tamil Nadu. The boy is in the kindergarten and because of their poor financial background they decided to cancel his schooling including his elder brother's. Understanding the nature of the boy, who was so curious to know about lots of things, I decided and told his mother that I would teach him whatever I have learnt in my years of schooling. Though language was a barrier between two of us, I tried to get over with it somehow and I successfully taught numbers and a few alphabets and words. But before I could teach him any further his family decided to shift back to their hometown as they could not afford the rent they were paying for the house they were living in and his mother's income which she received from my mother was not helping much. I recollect a time when I was teaching this boy he accidently saw my wallet and he was demanding the money in it. He could have stolen the money, but he did not. Seeing this innocent act, I was able to see how much his family was suffering and how much that suffering has influenced his attitude towards money. He didn't know why he did it but he knew his family badly wanted it. When he and his family left, from that moment onwards I started fantasizing about a community that provides me a platform to educate such (I prefer not to use the term 'underprivileged') children. After about four years, I met this girl with whom I became an instant friend at a competition in which we both were participating. After a month or two, she called me to let me know about a community called Make A Difference, lovingly called MAD in which she was a volunteer. She insisted that I should join and promised me that it would be a wonderful experience. Without any second thoughts I attended the recruitment session and they interviewed me and later called me that I was selected and that I am a Maddy. I didn't know then that my friend was actually fulfilling my wish to become a teacher. Its been almost six months now and I am teaching English to eight sweet and smart girls who aspire to do great things and become great human beings. With effective training session conducted every once or twice a month it helps me to explore better ways of teaching. And for all this I have to thank that girl whom I met in the competition and last but never the least, MAD. MAD is not only a platform for us to educate such children, but it also provides a platform for those children who wants to be other than doctors and engineers; about the endless options and opportunities that are available once you have finished schooling. And more than that it gives an answer to the problem of the vicious cycle our country is suffering from for years: illiteracy, poverty and unemployment. MAD is a place where no one complains but everybody in it, acts responsibly and dutifully. With a syllabus that is easy to follow provided by EZ Vidya, I am now spending two happy hours with my children every week teaching them communicative English through lots of games and activities suitable for all age groups. I feel immensely fortunate to have been a part of this venture. It not only provided an opportunity to make a difference in such children's lives but it also made a difference in my life as well. Join MAD, and I promise you, that it will be one of the most wonderful experiences in your life.
I'm not a member but I've heard and read alot about this organisation. They are doing a 'wonderful' job around here. We need more dedicated organisations like these cause small steps lead to Big changes...
it is awesum to teach those poor kids..i fell so proud afta doing this...whn 1st tym i went i was so in to thm.. i jus simply luvd it.. i wish i cud hve started it a lil early...THX a loT MAD. i m makin a difference. :-D
Am a great admirer of MAD. . these madsters r really making a difference to the lives of lot of children. . giving knowledge to some one is the greatest help one can do as knowledge is an asset for a lifetime ...
i joined MAD a year back and the whole experience has been awesome!seeing the bright smiles on your kids' faces can make your day.their eagerness to learn and their enthusiasm is commendable.i've seen the kids grow with every class and that's when i realize how important a role MAD plays in their lives.being a MAD volunteer has indeed been a pleasant experience for me.
I am not a volunteer of MAD. But some of MAD's volunteers are my frends. Even though i am not a Volunteer i have experienced the value of programs conducted by it. Its a great feeling to know that there are organisation who care for others, who tries to make a great differance in people mind. To be frank this organisation has entered into the hearts of many people including me.
There are millions of charity organisations in this world, a 100+ can be even found in Cochin alone! If MAD was also one like that, I wont have given a 2nd look. What inspired me is their uniqueness in helping people, theres a statement in their website “Giving money alone in name of charity will not help people instead it might kill. We do direct the needy children through the right path to unleash their potential, to achieve their goals,to make them understand what life is all about!” This sentence caught my attention as I am having the same idea for a long time! Giving or throwing some money at the poor may give you a fake satisfaction-a feel you have done something for the poor-for the sake of someone-might be for a showup in the society? Ofcourse! Its a great thing, giving money & helping others is great but what if the boy who gets your 1000 rupees dont know what to do with it? What if he dont know how to utilise it effectively? What happens is, he will simply waste the amount by eating, playing, doing all unnecessary stuffs! Instead of creating potential humans out of the poor, we will create 1000’s of smart beggers by giving them money & not teaching them how to use it!? Here comes the importance of MAD - they are different like their name, they teach people how to grow, how to turn the stones thrown @ people to milestones, how to think ambitiously, how to achieve!
I have always wanted to do something when I see children who are exceptionally intelligent but don't do well in life only because they've not been given the opportunities we have gotten. When MAD came to my college for a recruitment drive, I knew this is my time to make use of my time which I'd other wise vile away watching movies or so. And more than anything else seeing my kids(16) smile and so eager to learn fills me with happiness which nothing can compare, not even a win in a million dollar lottery.
i am not a member...i am general public..and i admire the work MAD does for children and their objectives..they give inspiration to many people and encourage literacy.
I came across MAD through a friend and I really appreciate the work they do to help kids have a better future.
To say tht my experience with MAD Trivandrum is awesome would b an understatement coz it was stupendous! Got to know wat i was missing out all these yrs ,the joy of giving n spreading happiness,n of course the delight in bringing a smile to a child's face .Knowledge is the greatest asset tht u can giv someone n thts exactly wat we give the kids thro MAD.Proud to b a madster :-)
I am not a volunteer of MAD but a big admirer. To begin with the main reason why my attention was drawn by MAD was because of its objectives. If major part of India is illiterate its not because of financial crisis or social obligations but its because of lack of 'QUALITY" education being provided at grass root level. Also the sentence "India is a developing country" is thrown around quite frequently these days. But development would mean nothing if people din't use it to the fullest.Food, clothing and shelter aren't the basic needs anymore. Education has grabbed the top spot when it comes to basic needs. MAD has taken the initiative to make a change. It is amazing to see a group of people come together and work towards educating the needful. Its objective is simple and straight forward. Its network is huge and its members are fantastic. Doing the work MAD does isn't a great thing. But doing it absolutely for no rewards is a thing to be proud of. It deserves a better place in this society. All the members, volunteers, founders and anyone associated with this organisation should be proud of themselves and most importantly the people who receive knowledge from these people should be super proud of themselves.
I joined MAD recently and i must say the experience was awesome.Being with the kids and teaching them is the best thing that has happened to me.After you come out of the shelter homes, you feel so glad and so satisfied that you feel that you have made a difference.Joining MAD is the best choice that i made in my entire life and i don't regret it at all...'coz two hours a week is worth it!I would give anything to see the gleam in the kid's eyes and the warm smile that welcomes us every week.
what i like about MAD is - professionalism. They work for the noble mission in a well planned manner and full of energy. Everything they do, creates a new history Kudos to all volunteers who spend their time and energy to bring smile on the innocent faces.
i got to know of MAD through a friend who was passionately committed to it. I was witness to the way MAD completely changed her life- gave her a purpose beyond the small concerns of an individual life and made her a part of something much larger. I have been associated with MAD in a very small way, but i see how the commitment of a few people have made a huge difference in the life of so many young children. Just by giving these kids an opportunity, just by believing in them MAD has opened a whole new world for them. To me MAD is special because every individual associated with it, genuinely cares about the kids MAD supports. To the volunteers for MAD, this is not a job, this is not a step to something higher. It is what defines them.
make a difference made me realise wat every individual could do to save lives..by teaching them...2 hours of a week made fruitful...
we constantly crib about what others cld do to make this world better but seldom do something ourselves. I think MAD takes that step and geting youth involved is the best thing one could do. The passion and dedication they have towards achiev'n thier objective is truly remarkable.
i came to know abt mad thru my frnds who r mad volunteers.they r all so dedicated and are truly enjoyin their activities. hats off to u guys.... u r doin a really grt job!
I was a student when I joined MAD an year ago.At that time I was thinking about helping someone, but I was no in a condition to donate money because I was just a student. But MAD has given the opportunity to serve people using my knowledge and I am working together with the most talented and committed people in the world.
I have had the good fortune of having been part of the evolution of this group of youngtsers over the past three years. Their committment to their Mission to enhance quality of life of underprivelged children iw worth emulation by the NGO's in this segment. The fact that the vision of a few, has been transformed into the Mission of a few hundred needs to be specially commended. I believe that the likes of Jithin, Sujith,Gloria and Sanjana come by ever so rarely. I wish them and all associated with them the very best in their endeavors and assure them of my involvement in this their committment as long as they feel the need to have me around.
It was a nice experience withthe members of MAD. MAD needed funds from Vidarbha Cricket Association to overcome their annual expenses. Unfortunately VCA couldnt give funds as VCA itself is a Trust, but the behaviour of the members of MAD was awesome. I am proud to say that MAD nas made Nagpur proud.
MAD is a platform where i find myelf doing something which i can look back later in my life. Its something I do which everyone doesn't. I teach. I try to Make A Difference. My first day at the center was of nervousness and curiousness. How will the kids be? Will they accept me? Will they get bored? Will they remember what ill try n teach? These are questions which everyone finds an answer for on their day. The class started and on the 3rd minute i thought i am loosing grip. The kids were looking what others are teaching. And gave expressions like "Wo didi to kitte maze kara rahi hai" and " wo bhaiya to games khilare, ye kitta paka raha hai". It places you in the position of our physics teacher in 12th. "KOI TO MERA SUNO!!". But then as we proseeded i thaught them simple questions like "what is your name?" and "How are you?", which are generally the first things taught by us. After the class I was so sure ke agle class me Ill have to teach everything again. But the next class was a surprise! they knew everything i taught them. May be it was revised well by my teaching partner. But anyway, they knew it all! That was a confidence booster! It made me realize that the kids really want to learn. Only if this could have done a bit earlier.
I was awestruck by the dedication and passion with which the young volunteers carry out their tasks. It has been a humbling experience watching their enthusiasm, commitment and organisational skills.I am indeed proud to b part of this fantabulous team and supports MAD madly and wholeheartedly.
Through every charitable endeavour we get closer to putting smiles on the faces of the individuals we touch, but I got the privilege of realising the smiles myself. Every effort that I put in serves more than just cash donations or contributions but a personal interactions with the very people I help. The feeling is very rewarding and paraphrasing Gandhi, has seen me to be the change I want to see in the world. This is a different experience and I hope you choose to see what its all about. So go MAD.
i always had doubts about an individual making any kind of difference anywhere but MAKE A DIFFERENCE made me realise the power of individual effort.I realised that how 2 hours of my week can answer all the questions of a person for the next 20 years...GO MAD!!!
Been with Jithu for a long time, and i saw him bring this up the way he wanted. The Volunteers for this organisation has been the driving force behind all the efforts to expand to other cities, run the camps at different places and ofcourse the duty to the kids. The Bond that the folks develop is so spectacular that on seeing the way the kids interact with them is a sight to see. The way people take just a few hours from their free time and convert it to such good use by educating these children is nothing but extraordinary
I have been working for MAD, Delhi since September so it hasnt been very long. But the journey so far has been amazaing. Some of the children really do want to learn and they try to grasp as much as they can within the 2 hours we spend with them. love to see their happy faces whenever i go for my class. they are also very enthusiastic and try to incorporate those teachings in their day to day life. when they do that it seems it was all worth it!
working with MAD, has been the best thing that has ever happened to me....love it and totally worth the experience...proud to be a part of MAD....
Mad has been working around the country to connect underprivileged children to youth who have been luckier in their lives. Providing them with educational opportunities especially for communications skills and an opportunity to explore various vocations which they wouldn't get an opportunity to be exposed to. I am proud to be associated with MAD as a donor.
i had once paid a visit to one of the centers in which MAD operates and got to see for myself what these volunteers are doing there. i could see that the children there were looking forward to these classes and the volunteers were really prepared and enthusiastic.
hey guys m working in MAD nagpur n am a part of this org 4 more than a 6 months now.As an individual i have always sought for ways dat help me in giving back in one way or other. It gives me great pleasure to say that MAD has proved to be one such very effective way. The amt of dedication and a will to learn dat i hv seen in some of the centres wer i teach has really boosted ma resolution to work harder. Mad has become one of da few imp priorities of mine n m sure that we'l be able to build a better future 4 dese kids if we are sincere honest n hardworking towards our jobs..!!
Despite commendable mental preparedness, my first day at Bal Sahyog, where I teach the kids for MAD,was like being shaken out of a delusive reverie. There was more about those kids than the expected inarticulateness in speech and seemingly rowdy manners. Some were loud and some, contrarily, adorably shy. However, the thing that hits one as a slap is their innocence, their being genuinely happy. Each one has a story which is certainly not very sweet or extraordinary and when they show themselves through those unpretentious smiles or laughs, one tends to realise all things that they are unaware of and untouched by. If the thoughts are extended, one cannot ignore the devastations that the deprivation can lead to tomorrow. Being a part of an agency for change, however little may the role be, does more than just give the feel-good magic. Its acquiring a new point of view. There's certainly more in store, but awareness is definitely one of the major things that's come to me after becoming a MAD volunteer.
I loved workin with MAD.....ACTUALLY IT BENEFITS CHILDREN ALOT......and i loved it coz of the efforts they hav taken....it was gr8 workin with MAD
MAD is been there in my life for the past 2 years, and I have been part of MAD for the past one year. It's been a great journey in terms of me making a difference in our children's lives.I am a part of MAD-Hyderabad since its inception here. MAD started 3 years back in Cochin and now is spread across in 10 different cities with a set of highly motivated and talented volunteers. I teach in a girl's orphanage in Hyderabad. Even if it is a holiday or there is an exam, they want MAD to come and take class. I guess that should speak on the impact of MAD :)
Before i can 'make a difference' to a kids life whom we teach as volunteers of MAD...i have to say that MAD has 'made a difference' in my life helping me grow as a person by providing me with an opportunity to work with it.My experience has just got better and better with each class with my students and interaction with the other team members. The sunday mornings i used to look forward to to grab on some extra sleep,i no longer long for, instead i want to get up early every sunday morning now to get ready and meet and teach my kids. Also the amount of hardwork and dedication that i've seen in the team members for the organisation-keeping a check whether the classes are going upto date or not;volunteer and student attendance is upto mark or not;coming up with better ideas each day for the smooth and better functioning of the organisation;how to get the best for the students and n no. of other things-gives me the required motivation each day to work harder for better results. Kudos to MAD for all that its doing and will do in the times to cum and THANKU.
i have to admit i was a little reluctant to join this organisation because i didnt have a clue waht the experience would be like.i had no prior teaching experience. so i have no idea how i could do it or how the kids would react to it. but i decided to join anyway, because i wanted to make a difference and i like taking risks. i am saying from the bottom of my heart, the xperience is just amazing. we have a strict syllabus which tells us exactly what to do, fellow voulanteers really friendly and MAD pun intended. and kids really want us to be with them and teach them and i thank the founders of this wonderful organisation from the bottom of my heart for giving me a chance to make a difference in the lives of these wonderful kids and thats not the only thing im doing, im also having a lot of FUN thank you
My experience with MADD has been one of a lifetime. I have had only four classes with the class 5 students at arya anathalaya so far but I have already developed a fairly strong bond with the kids I teach. Every Monday, I find myself eagerly awaiting saturdays so that I can meet them again. The syllabus is designed in such a way so as to make it easier for them to understand the basic nuances and grasp the concepts of English easily while enjoying themselves thoroughly. Not only do we teach them english, we educate them and mould them in the best possible way so that they can be MOULTED as good human beings and resposible citizens. In this way they can, in the future, not only earn their own livelihood but also stand at par with the rest of the society with full dignity and self respect. I am also amazed by the level of dedication and commitment my co volunteers show and am impressed by the passion of the youth. Within MAD, the professionalism they show is incredible. Their stress on punctuality is also worth mentioning. The seniors are very very appreciative which inspires us to work even harder and remain focussed. It gives me a great sense of gratification seeing wide smiles light up the faces of the kids when we go there and spend time with them. At the end of the day I am proud of contributing and MAKING A DIFFERENCE towards the society. I am a proud and devoted member of MAD and wish it great success in the years ahead....:)
MAD is one of the best things that ever happened to me! I was one of those people who always wanted to do something for "society" but never knew how to do it in a way that would both be beneficial to society and convenient to be carried on with my life as a student... and MAD showed me that way!!
I was associated with Make A Difference (MAD), India until last month. Currently I am doing my MBA at Durham University, UK. Apart from my hectic work schedules and travelling I wanted to give back my society a part of my free times. After a lot of research on NGOs in India (and online volunteering programmes) and studying their Organisational goals and achievements, I decided to join MAD (Cochin) as Placement Volunteer. The reasons to join MAD India and not any other well-known; famous NGOs were many. Unlike any other NGO, MAD requires volunteer’s time as the prime input. Hence I was assured to get involved directly with the children and play a vital role in all the activities. MAD consist more of young crowd , aged 18-24, and hence they have a lot of energy to achieve and to work towards a common goal. Over the time-bound study weeks of theirs, I found that the MAD volunteers invested at least 2 hours in a week to teach and interact with children of their assigned centres. As a part of placement team, I was involved in organizing Universities and field-study trips, English language and vocational trainings, and also guest-lectures involving national celebrities and successful entrepreneurs. The last assignments in which I was involved was, taking children to an Engineering college and hotel industry visits and giving them a brief on the job opportunities available in the Engineering and hospitality industry. Few schools were also taken to Navy and Judicial departments of Government of India. The constant feedback I receive from the children after taking them for these trips were that, they didn’t know about such opportunities which they could opt for after their studies. Children find these activities organized by MAD as inspiring and motivating to complete their studies on time with highest scores. I believe those feedbacks were my fuel to invest more of my time on MAD over all the weekends till I was in India. MAD and its volunteers deserve appreciation and motivation for all the efforts that they have taken and still continuing to do. These are young bloods working towards a common goal, and that is to Make A Difference in the lives of children from different social welfare organizations and orphanages. The awards like InDiya I believe will surely act as a ladder and support for MAD to achieve new heights. Cheers!
Make a Difference actually rocks!! I remember my first class of MAD. I can’t call tat actually a class but a sweet and nice meet with young kids who had twinkle in their eyes.It feels nice to help them learn and lern things from them. Fun and frolic are part of a mad calss ïŠ By being a volunteer in MAD I feel that um doing my bit of contribution to the betterment of society. A smile on their face and seeing them learning English brings all the positivity and I can feel that MAD actually empowers the little orphanage kid to have better career opportunities. All my best wishes for the Organisation. hope it builds better future.
Make a Difference provides platform to each and every one to give back some thing to the society we have been receiving all this time. Its nice feeling to see some one benefited, but it is far more satisfying to be a part of it.
My name is meenakshi ajith . I joined M.A.D about 3 months ago. It really changed my life. I came to know about M.A.D during a national intergration camp. I was really intrested in joining the organisation sincs then. After I cleared the interview for a few weeks I worked as an intern.Yet it changed my life rapidly, teaching gave me more confidence, patience and interacting with children makes me feel happy and gives me a feeling that M.A.D is really making a difference to the fututre of India. Now the children gets more knowledge about English , computer and is getting more exposure. The children actually learn through games and are really intersted and look forward for the classes.Iam sure that this group of educated, smart young children can stay and lead india into the new milleneum as a global power. GO M.A.D!
my friend has been working for MAD for a while and i have been with him to MAD classes and i am glad i can see the difference they have made. i wish them all the very best in future
MAD is all about making a difference for our kids! I've been with MAD for a few months now, initially i did like the idea of teaching kids, though i got the jest of how important MAD is later for all the little things we do, it's focused mainly on development and education of the kids. MAD is full of energy and one of the best things I've got into!! :D
I joined Make A Difference expecting to teach kids english and thats it.However, Make A Difference turned out to be a lot more than that. Now the entire week I wait for the weekend when I shall go and teach my kids. The time I spend with these kids not only allows me to teach them but its also a learning experience for me.I think MAD is doing a great job and Im really proud to be a part of it.
MAD has given me the perfect opportunity to spend my gap year 'making a difference' in childrens lives as well as mine :)!
Mad has helped me to be a better person. Its a great feeling to know that you are making difference in the lives of people.
Its been only three weeks since I joined MAD and its given my life a whole new meaning. My life suddenly seems more productive, meaningful because I know that I am making a difference. The smiles , the admiration , the love and respect you get from those kids is making this experience so wonderful and memorable. Cheers to MAD for having such a great vision and doing such great work. Priyanka Khemka
I was kind of person who really care about what happens around me once. Once my friend took me to of the orphanage and showed all the kids ..I was shaken to c the young kids of age 1-10 playing.Only one thought came into my mind if in case these kids are your cousins or your relatives you will spend any amount of money to c them smiling...but who is there for these kids .Now i will say i am there and MAD is there for you all.............
MAD- well i joined dis organisation hoping that i wud be able to make a litle difference in the little hearts, teaching them, passing on d little information u hav to others ,it was an awesome experience.the love u get bac pays for it all.taking classes twicw in a week, organising extra curricular activities, conducting seminars,workshops..twas great being a part of d organisation, and now i truly miss bein a part of it.it has helped me to grow as well to learn a lot of things from those little kids.get goin.MAD rockz!
MAD... Its all about Making a difference in those kids life... And along with that, its making some differences our life too... By teaching those kids..by being a part of their happiness... When we see a smile on the our kids face, that's going to be the most valuable gift gained in our Life....
Make A Difference happened to me when one of my seniors from college asked me to join MAD. I had always wanted to contribute to the society in someway and when opportunity struck the doors i grabbed it happily. Education is the pillar for development of any country and MAD surely helps in building on the basic knowledge of english and computers. Its indeed an honor to work with MAD
Wow these guys are really making a difference. I love the way they love the children. A great cheers to these guys for spending their precious time in this busy world to do this big favour. -William
I started to know MAD through its volunteers. Those dedicated (and admittedly crazy) bunch of people who truly feel happiness in seeing kids smile. Everyday i would see as they routinely gave up sleep and relaxation to work with the children, to teach them and assure them that they too are capable of achieving whatever their tender hearts desire. This organisation works tirelessly and most innovatively as well, they don't force you to join and they have very flexible hours. All they require is your dedication and love. I feel proud that my friends are a part of something that touches children's hearts on an everyday basis and encourages them to follow their dreams.
i dnont thnk evryone gets a chance to MAKE A DIFFERENCE for this world even though every one dreams of makeing one.am happy that i got a wonderful chance to serve this socity and to help those poor kids who r in need of it, finaly to make a difference of my own.it gives me so much of relif whn i thnk abt my role in the socity..atlest i got the privlege to help 10 kids who r in need.the world has given us so much and its high time we pay them back.am happy with myself,am helping some people with the resources i carry:) . AM NO MORE A WASTE FOR THIS SOCIETY.me too got a chance to do somethng for someone:) .over all this i got a chance to meet many madies who has been helping the socity more efficiently than me :)KEEP ROCKN :):)
I was always waiting for a chance to do some thing for the poor helpless kids. And MAD...., it really showed me the most fruitful way to help these kids.I am greatly thankful for this innovative idea and professional way at which it functions. I always believe that he who teach fishing and provides a net to fish is greater than one who donate fish for a poor hungry man. That's what we exactly do at MAD.. Provide with fishing nets and teach the kids to fish the golden fishes from the ocean of opportunities ,which was deprived of them just because of lack of knowledge .
Have been a volunteer of MAD for about a year now...have seen a lot of determined and smart youngsters who are actually on a mission to make a difference in our society. A one of its kind initiative :)
everythin i needed to be maself.reiteratin in words of barney stinson legen......wait for it........dary. and i love bein a mado
Damm the !st day wit MAD was so fun..cant forget jus Kids they so affectionate and heart touching..u people should go and hang out wit them! m in so love wit them :) Hugs to one and all and Cheers to all the NEWbies Regards Kireeti
I have been with MAD for 2 years now.. I feel amazing being a part of it and the things MAD does for those certain underpriveledged children is seriously something that deserves a lot of appreciation.. Seriously feeling happy being a part of it nd yeah.. Keep up the good work mates! cheers vijay
I was involved with MAD as a volunteer and the experience of being able to touch the lives of under privileged kids has been the most satisfying periods of my life. Great to see a bunch of college going kids and young professionals bringing so much selflessness, enthusiasm and professionalism into this organisation . Fantastic work done !! please keep up the good work!!
I have been involved in MAD for about 1 year, and started teaching the MAD kids 6 months before..... Mad in my city(Trivandrum,Kerala) started functioning in June 2009 and we have about 35 volunteers working in 3 shelter homes, teaching English... Now MAD has become one of the best things in my life...... I have MAD-English class once in every week and the feeling I get when I see the young bright faces is just inexpressible........
well....i came 2 know about MAD through a friend in college....and soon after all the initial procedures became a volunteer and i really dont think i can express how much i love being a part of this awesome organisation....!!!...my first class was at d orphanage really touched me....the amount of love and care the children have to offer and their bright warm smiles as soon as they see us entering the classes gave us all the confidence we needed to MAKE A DIFFERENCE in their lives....and let me tell u...more than what they learn i have personally learnt a lot being with the kids which would definitely make me a better person and am sure all the wonderful volunteers out there who share this passion will surely make a big big difference in the lives of many...!!!
If you can bring a smile on the face of others ,that is one of the biggest things ever. Ever since I 've joined MAD , frankly speaking I havent ever got any sort of materialistic personal gain .... and that is not what MAD is meant to be..... But once a week when you can illuminate the life of some other children ,it brings a dint of self satisfaction and we wouldnt like to miss a day with them because the people who were meant to be there for them left them and we wouldnt like to repeat the same .......
i got to hear about mad from a few friends of mine who have already been associated with it.i always wondered what i could do for the betterment of the future of our country.here was the answer.what better than providing education to underprivileged children who are going to be the future.i think mad is doing a wonderful job.the people associated and all the volunteers know exactly what they are supposed to do and why they are doing it.the best of being associated with mad is that the kids involved are more than enthusiastic about learning than we are.its a privilege to be a part of mad.i thank it for just being there..
having worked with make a difference for more than a year, i think it's one organization, that has grown SOLELY through the hard work its team members have put it in and their unmatched dedication towards their cause.. hope to see it growing and crossing all limitations in the years to come.. go mad!
If you believe that you are obliged to give something back to the society, that the only way to bridge the inequalities in society is through education, then MAD is your perfect platform.MAD made all the difference in my life, changed the way i look at things and made me realise that there is such a lot that we can do,if only we care.
i was a volunteer in the organization a year back. leaving MAD was one of the hardest things that i had to do. the time i spend with the kids and the volunteers there were really memorable. i'm glad that i was able to touch the lives of some of those kids through MAD.
I came to know of MAD as a few friends in Mangalore are involved with it. Since then, having followed MAD's activities online, I'm proud to note that they're different from most groups in that they get down and work - and believe in bringing about change from the grassroots level, as opposed to moving legislative and political heavyweights. They are unique in that they monitor their students and work actively to retain the ones they have drafted - contributing to progress, and not just one off incidents. They're undoubtedly helping the children they edcucate, but they also ensure that the educated youth of the country do not metamorphasise into an inane, disgruntled lot as a result of their efforts and advances to bring about social development being chronically spurned by red tape. By involving us, they connect us to the true needs of society, bring enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and most contemporary methods of education and a rapport with the children that adults do not have. Being a predominantly part-time, volunteer based, student organisation, however, means that a predominant weakness is in finances, scale of activities, and clout. Funding will no doubt help, but further backing from a bigger NGO / corporate bodies (strictly backing and not interference) would greatly help.
I worked as a volunteer for almost 2 years. I saw MAD growing into the behemoth tht it has become today... Selfless college going and young professionals, take out 2 hours each week to teach the kids english and/or computers. The kids are runaways, or are from broken families or are orphans. MAD takes them under its wings, gives them the courage to dream higher and helps them in all ways possible to achieve their dreams.
my sister is working with MAD and that is my relationship with mad. working with MAD has had a really good effect on her. the people working for mad deserve a lot of credit for the work that they have already done.
I am a professional with research interests in upliftments of social sectors. i know MAD through many common friends who are involved in this organization. I find MAD to be doing really great work in upliftement and education of the underpriveleged section of society. Children are the future of our country and if they are educated enough then the future is bright for any country. By doing such a task at the grass root level, MAD is indeed doing tremendous work and i feel proud to see their work in this sector. Great work Keep it up!
I got to know about Make A Difference(MAD) when MAD was recruiting volunteers. I was very impressed by the work Mad is doing. So i wasted no time in joining Mad and doing my small part for it. I teach kids english in an orphanage every sunday. Before being a part of MAD i always wanted to do "something" when i saw kids on the streets..but never knew what! But now i know, thought it might be a small effort, i can bring some positive change in the life of these kids. I'm proud to be part of MAD.
i read about MAD through an article that came in the magazine 'vanitha'. it was truly inspiring and shows that the youth today can achieve a lot.
a lot of my buddies from college work here so that's how I came to know about MAD. from the kind of people who work here, I can see that MAD is a place where actions speak louder than words. they are doing a wonderful job!
I know about MAD through a friend who is a volunteer there. one thing that I can say is they are definitely serious about what they do. My friend spends more time preparing for his class than he does preparing for his exams. keep up the god work guys!
Life has more meaning and purpose when one is part of a solution to many a problem faced by the society.Make A Difference is a great solution and am proud to be a part of it.
A team of dedicated ,disciplined, well meaning youngsters. My daughter is a part of the organisation and so I know how involved and committed they are to their cause. They have achieved so much in such short time. They have definitely made a difference to a lot of children. They will surely go a long way and my wishes to them to continue their good work.
mad was a great forum for me to actually do something rather than talk about doing it. the main reason why i joined mad was that i could see that everyone here was really committed to the cause. now, I know that I'm making a difference in these children's lives every time i walk in to the classroom.
MADD..experience till now after attending four sessions appears to be interesting and the best part innovative. As far as the organisational level is concerned..the hardwork and the dedication of all the associated members demands a commendable applause. The most impressive part is the importance of punctuality and ofcourse a respectable level of professionalism. Being very honest.teaching kids at ARYAANTHALAYA..initially appeared to be very tiring but slowly and gradually the bond established between kids and me somewhere boosted loads of energy in me while teaching that now it becomes difficult for me to leave the kids after teaching them..entering in the class makes me feel really proud and lands me in a very different world where while teaching kids , i myself learn a lot from these tiny tots..However as a responsible member it is my duty to highlight some grey areas which i personally feel should be taken into account.. (1) ThE syllabus designed should apart from english poems and stuff should also include small brief hindi poems. (2) Despite being responded regarding the suggestion of introduction of moral based stories. i again would like the members to think about it or atleast have a wider audience opinion!! I hope my reviews cater no offence against anyone...with full dedication and commitment i wish MADD a great success !!
i've been associated with MAD because of my brother who happens to be one of the board members in Nagpur. initially, i wasn't quite aware about the things they did but when i came to know about it, i was more than amazed to see the enthusiasm and the determination with which they serve the have-nots of the society... i appreciate their efforts and believe in the organization and their motto “To bridge the inequality in society through education.” MAKE A DIFFERENCE IS DEFINITELY MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
A youth-run organization, for students bu students, Make A Difference certainly lives up to its name. Its made a difference to hundreds of children across India, as well as the olunteers, organisors and teachers.
I have been working with MAD for more than a year now and this is one place where we actually do something rather than talking about it. at the end of the day, I know that I'm making a difference in the lives of my kids.
The volunteers strive hard and well for what MAD aims. It feels nice to see people still care about what matters most. Make A Difference inspires even the strong hearted. Kudos. :-)
I have known many MAD volunteers, their life changed a lot thru this. Its like their life is before MAD and after MAD like BC & AD..Actually it is such a great organisation which helps to make difference in orphan people and the volunteers...then the nation. I feel that fund raising is a serious hindrance in their progress...
I have known a no. of MAD volunteers...i really think they are a dedicated group that infuses knowledge in the little ones, making this non-profit organisation a success...the topics taught to the children are made simpler by the volunteers who also give self-made worksheets and the classroom sessions are made lively by some innovative games which involves learning the subject too. this is an evidence of the systematic and efficient ways of working of this Non-Profit Organisation
my experience with MADD has been great and a little different with positive results from the students in the past few months of my teaching at MADD.they have shown keen interest in learning something new everytime i go there.the children stay like a family and inside class they work on the principle of"The Best Way To Learn Is To Teach" and this has helped them in improving their language as well as the others.overall its been a good experience joining MADD.
There are a lotta problem with what we see around.. a lot of 'em are really bad and needs correction,seriously..but rather than mourn about them, we decided to change them ..that is what MAD is about. THE CHANGE ...its easy to comment and read reports about the ""BLACK SPOTS" of our society.... but its real hard and requires a lotta determination to pull out a plan and start DOING something..mad is all about the doing rather than the talking..and it gives you a sense of participation and involvement in the solution..i belive in the principles of MAD and feel proud to be part of it..the absence of any hierarchy gives you a feeling of equality and makes you feel like every one in the team. i dont really see that in any other NGO.and the comfort at the end of every week that you along with a rest of the volunteers are DOING something for the nation .i salute all volunteers ...
I am a volunteer who teaches english at Snehabhavan Palluruthy and i teach very small kids and its really fun to be with them. I think its a great time for them as well. Being a college student i might not be good enough in english or so bad but what ever it is ..we teach and we learn as well. In MAD its not all about the learning but its all about the style in which we teach and i can assure you that this is entirely different from every teaching style.. we play we sing, we dance, we learn, we share..all these things happens in MAD and that makes it special and different from everything else. These kids makes us so special for them and its a great thing in our life being so important for some one who needs more care ..more love ..MakeA Difference is an organisation with a energetic youth who loves to see a future for those kids who never dream of it and we make them to dream and we help them to build their dreams. Thats all i got say now..because i have lots of things in ma mind but the problem im not so good with writing anyways a big salute to the founders who made each and everyone of us to think about the future of lil kids in our neighbourhood
Joined MAD about 2 and half years ago and i've loved every second of it.Its the "bestestestest" and then some more. Its given me some of my best memories and shown me some awesome people and honestly i beleive everybody in MAD is a hero, inspiring the kids, others and most importantly themselves. Really, no matter what my day has been like two hours with my kids and am grinning like a maniac on a glee high. I know they say pride comes before a fall, but this is something i am SUPER proud of, that i"ll take the free fall anyday.. GO MAD..!!
Make a Difference brought a lot of light into the lives of many li'l kids and everyone knows that! But what most people don't know is that its made as much of a difference to the volunteers as it has to the kids! I'm for one sure that M.A.D has allowed me to become a better person- kinder, nicer, more social and determined to make the best of what I have...I owe M.A.D for a (better!) personality make-over and am sure its been that way for a lot of other volunteers...and for that reason alone, I see M.A.D not as another NGO; rather its a movement among the youth and a testament to their potential! :)
I joined MAD on a recommendation of a friend in September 2009 and I have come to enjoy being a part of this family ever since. The first experience at the orphanage, the training we received, the way everyone is always ready to help and listen to others and the sheer excitement and enthusiasm that is shared by everyone in the group; it feels great to be a part of all this. The way MAD lays focus on individual development of each child is what makes all the difference in teaching. A more understanding and compassionate people i am yet to work with. They understand if there is a private emergency and their system of substitution and helping each other out keeps us all connected =) I remember how Sonam and Samarth are always ready to help, as is everyone else. Every weekend spent at the orphanage is a good weekend and it is this feeling of being a part of a greater change that drives us. Go MAD!
I"ve been MAD (he he ) for more than 3 years now.It is beyond doubt the best anything i"ve done or ever been associated with. Its just A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.. I love being with the kids and honestly, in the end, its just all about them. Believe me when i say that there are very few things as fulfillng as taking a class and seeing their smiles.
We in MAD try to bring in a change.. a PROMISING CHANGE.... We in MAD teach orphans English and Computer skills to give them a new dimension so that they become responsible citizens of this great nation... Well speaking about my experience in MAD... I'm having the best moments of my life till date... Every child has a story to tell and every story is heart touching... What these children want is not sympathy but a little Love and care ... this is what we do at MAD... Every Sunday spending 2 hours of time with these kids who are full of spirits is a life time experience which cannot be described in words.... Also MAD is a very organized ngo... everything is planned.. syllabus, camps to be organised etc ... they have recruitment drives to include people into this holy task of educating the orphans... I'm really proud to be a MADster.... LONG LIVE MAD......
It has been 6 months since I joined MAD and I am proud I took this decision. With the future ( I mean all the underprivileged kids here ) of India struggling for means to make their dreams come true I believe its an incredible job by the youngsters of the country coming forward a helping hand to the kids and help them realize their dreams. As a volunteer the first thing I got to do was to be a mentor for a group of kids in a summer camp organized for them. This was the first summer camp organized for the kids in Hyderabad and they were so excited. The bonding between the kids and the volunteers and the fun they had together is something which cannot be expressed in words. Now, I teach English and I love teaching them. It feels so good every time we go to the center and the little ones come running to say " Good morning, how are you? " " I am fine, thank you." Every time they learn new words, they use it in communicating with us the next time. Commitment, trust, our vision and of course the fun with the kids is what keeps all the Members going. Started in Cochin 4 yrs back and still going strong in 8 other cities, MAD is surely something which cannot be prevented from making news at every opportunity it gets. 6 months of experience is something which cannot be expressed in words because its definitely something which should only be experienced. Hope I have done justice to what I have experienced.
Make a difference is truly a unique organization. As a MAD teacher, i had the opportunity to pass on my knowledge and experiences to lot of children. Apart from teaching, we also make sure that spend some quality time with each one of them. I am sure MAD will reach great heights. I will always be a MAD volunteer!
I have known MAD and its activities for the past four years. I have seen the organisation grow from a very humbling start, with less than twenty volunteers, to this amazing organisation, that has today spread its wings all over india. Many of my close friends work for it. The success of the organisation entirely emanates from the sincerity and dedication of its volunteers. I happily and proudly vouch my support and encouragement for all endeavours MAD takes part in.
I am just one of those other people who has been inspired by the MAD volunteers we meet in our lives.I've seen my friends who are active members of this organisation talk with passion about the work they do and diligently prepare for every class. The goals of this Non profit and the sheer energy and commitment surrounding it bear testimony to the heights to which this organisation can rise.
This is my fourth year with MAD and i cant but be amazed at the growth we as an organiation we are making ( not necessarily in terms of size but the number of lives we have touched - volunteers' and children's). Besides 'bridging the inequality in the society through education', mad is also unawarely creating a generation of responsible, socially aware, committed and able group of young leaders. We started off with teaching only communicative english with self styled syllabuses. But now we have moved a long way, to engaging professionals to make the syllabus and training volunteers, making available computer facilities to all our kids and acquainting them with basic computer applications, widening their horizons through general and subject specific awareness and exposure by professionals on a regular basis, arts - culture-personality development camps etc. Growth is inevitable and when your aim to is to touch as many young lives in as many ways possible, the growth is limitless as well. The impact that all this has created cannot merely be expressed through a written review, but is a one of a kind experience. The change that we see in our children in terms of awareness, confidence and body language and overall development is something that I can say with full conviction as my best experience so far. And i know that in this part of my life, best will only keep getting better. In my personal life MAD has provided everything I could ever ask for - starting from making myself useful and having a lot of goals, objectives and aspirations for the first time in my life, to knowing and interacting with many wonderful people and making friends who i am sure will last a lifetime and most importantly, realizing what a lot of difference we unknowingly make through small gestures and acts in others people's lives and the potential most of us possess to make a whole world of difference by just applying some thought and intellect. Cheers to the organisation that made me realise nothing is impossible. (Each and every word is meant to its deepest meaning)
i am with make a difference for the past 2 yrs now.i joined as a teaching personnel and later went on to becoming the orphanage head of one of the orpahnages we managed.besides the contribution we have been able to make in the life of the children i would have to say that by being involved in make a difference it definetaly was a eye opener towards what i wanted to do and also realised what i wanted to pursue in life.i later went on to work with the rotarians in personality devlopment for the visually challenged and associating with other ngos in the city.at present i am pursuing my masters in human rights and international development law and ultimately serve chilren in need.make a difference has made a huge impact in my life and i dedicate this change solely to this youth group.
I've been lucky to be associated with Make A Difference, Poona chapter for years now. Even though I haven't played an intricate role in its day-to-day activities, I find myself counting my blessings when I know there are a bunch of selfless volunteers out there, trying to inspire a smile, gift a better life to the ones not as privileged as we are, and directing them towards a better future. There is no better gift than Education, and the dedication of the MADmen is truly applause-worthy. When different people come together for such a vital cause, making a real difference becomes that tad bit easier... Wish you every luck!
A organization, as the name states, set to Make A Difference by its set goals and precise thinking, each volunteers involvement, dedication and commitment.A well defined goal statement and mission to accomplish the same has made the organisation one of the best in its own way. Operation across the country despite all challanges and hurdles has made its way to everyones heart...A question each one has after joining MAD is, I have made a difference by being a part of it.. Have YOU???
A young organization that displays high levls of professionalism and oodles of youthful energy, MAD made an impression on me at every stage of interaction. The levels of commitment and hardwork that ever member displays stands testimony to the proper channelling of energy by the leadership and HR-team @ MAD.
Make a difference is a great initiative which can bring good changes in the society. The best way you can help one is by sharing knowledge.MAD's effort to teach spoken English and computer to underprivileged students is worth mentioning. Spending your free time with underprivileged childern sharing knowledge is one of the best thing you can do in your life
MAD is one of the finest things that happened to me.Its made up of dedicated and motivated youngsters who've really understood and utilized themselves for something better. Am just really glad to be part of it. MAD is about people with a purpose not prestige. "What is the world without a little Madness?"
Simply put, becoming a part of MAD has been one of the best decisions I've made. The most interesting thing about MAD is its child-centric approach. All our actions, and activities are geared towards making sure that the kids get the best shot at making their lives better. :) The experiences I've had while interacting with these kids have been eye-opening. I could see that lack of opportunities was the only road-block, and I'm glad that MAD has taken the first steps towards making sure these kids get an equal opportunity at making a better life.
MAD primarily focuses on imparting spoken English and computer skills to underpriveleged children. This is apart from the various educational activities such as field trips, camps, motivational talks by eminent personalities etc regulary organised to help the children become better informed regarding careers for their future. I joined M.A.D (Make A Difference) 6 months ago. Each class or every moment spent has been a wonderful experience. I always wanted to do or give something back to the society and MAD was the perfect platform. Being with the innocent kids and trying to MAKE A DIFFERENCE in their lives is truly a divine feeling. The happiest moments in my life now are when the kids I teach, speak to me in English. So we truly re MAKING A DIFFERENCE !!!! And hats off to all the volunteers who are so committed and energetic. Cheers and stay MAD !!!
Quality Education is the main factor that marks the difference between people in todays society.. I'm attracted by MAD's vision "To bridge the inequality in society through education". I had chances to interact with lot of MAD volunteers and i'm a well wisher of MAD too. I consider the effort they put in to provide quality education for those who cant afford it as on of the most sacred deeds a human can do. I pray for the success of MAD and wish to be part of their activities as much as possible.
Well..i have been working as a volunteer for MAD(mumbai)..for 6 months now..and it has been an amazing learning experience for me..! it is an organisation that is incredibly living upto its name n is actually making a difference! together we put in efforts to give these underprivileged children..every bit of education that they are deprived off!
Making a difference in a person's life is not an easy task to do consciously. But that's what changes when we're part of this network. Everyone is endowed a sense of responsibility educating kids who through no fault of theirs were subjected to the harsher conditions of life.Working for almost two years, i've understood the value of how a small task can go big in a kid's life. At an age when they've got no one to look up to, MAD volunteers have stepped in and have been doing a selfless task even since.
Working with Make A Difference was an eye opener for me. Never before had I seen such a coordinated effort by a group of motivated youngsters to bring about a change in society. Of course the added joy of being able to effect change in the lives of the children we teach everyday is priceless. I was able to be a part of a movement that stood up against a problem, offered a solution for it and implemented it effectively.
My involvement with MAD dates back to three years and more.it had begun as trying to do some good for society but along the path i have realized that my contribution to the kids life hasnt been as much as they have contributed to mine!! their innocence and warmth swept away the fear i had of dealing with kids and the experience has helped me understand that even i can have a great rapo with kids and that they are the easiest to get along with. the faith and reliance each of us placed on the other has built bonds that will last a lifetime.
The best thing that has happened to me in college life is..... MAD!!! Not only does it give me immense satisfation to contribute in a small way to make better citizens for tomorrow.... but also.... it has made me realise the value for everything I have and given an opportunity to make amazing friends!! kudos to this initiative.....and long live MAD!!!
learning- There is so much I learn when I teach kids every week from their curious and innocent doubts. satisfying- makes me feel good if I'm able to communicate to them through my teaching and seeing them switch from their mother tongue to broken English when they try to communicate with me has been highly satisfying. challenging- working on innovative ways to keep the class from running away to play or to amalgamate learning and playing to help them learn. Being a board member adds more interesting things to my MAD life with ways to recruit genuine volunteers, spread the word about MAD,convince donors to fund the initiatives, generate results, I'm doing my bit in joining lots of loose threads and making MAD one strong organisation :)
MAD is an organization which aims at making a significant change in the lives of the children. And as far as i am concerned, it has made a difference me too. MAD’s work with the children has made them realise that it isn’t impossible to achieve anything! The volunteers at MAD have worked tirelessly to see their results bear fruit. Working with MAD has made me realise that opening their minds to a whole new avenue is the greatest satisfaction one can get. Initially when i met with the lively bunch of girls at holy ghost i could see that they faced a lot of incongruence regarding their ideal and real selves. And gradually, this started to disappear. I was only more than happy to be a part of this cause!
MAD-Inimitable organization teaching spoken English to the unfortunate kids of the society. Well i joined MAD (Make A Difference) almost 6 months ago and till now it has been a astonishing experience. I was amongst one of them who started MAD in Nagpur and the support we got from the youth here was simply mind boggling, in last 5-6 months of MAD being in action we have more than 70 volunteers with us. Every volunteer looks forward to every weekend to teach these wonderful kids with enormous zeal and fervor. The thing that ignited me to go ahead with Make A Difference was that this organization knew where it was going and what is its aim . We know what we are doing and what will be the results be and how much time it will take. Not only the volunteers but also the kids are keen in learning and encourages all of us to give our 110%. The way MAD is going ahead is truly commendable as we have set of syllabus designed with the help of professionals we have special mentor training sessions to craft out new scheme of teaching and managing administrative part. Well when every volunteer is done with their respective classes the smiles we have on the faces of these kids tells us that YES we are indeed trying to MAKE A DIFFERENCE. GO MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Personally, I think joining MAD(Make A Difference) was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. I've always wanted to contribute to the society in some way, and MAD gave me the channel to transform my efforts into something material. Its truly one of the best things in the world to see the joy on the children's faces! It just comes to show that you can learn by having fun as well!
Basically,Had no idea what i was getting into...MAD turned out to be one of the most pleasant surprises ever :)....This is one org which believes in total action...No questions asked...No gyaan given...Just go out there and Make A Difference!!!!
Being a part novice to MAD, i have already learned and enlightened myself to the sole cause that MAD aims at maintaining and campaigning, education. From the very few experiences that i have had which spans over a little more than a month, now i am here to Make A Difference.
Working with MAD has been one of the greatest choices I ever made. It came at a time when I needed it the most too. I am testament to the fact that as much as it has made a difference in the lives of the kids, it has also made huge differences in the lives of anyone associated with it in any way, no matter how big or small.
2 1/2 years with MAD and I see my life divided into two eras, pre-MAD and post-MAD. Simply putting it, my whole life revolves around it now, be it volunteer work, fundraising or just chatting with friends. And with me are the rest of the hundreds of MAD volunteers
I have interacted with a couple of MAD volunteers. I have found them to be a group of individuals who are passionate about removing inequity in the society by educating those who don't get a chance normally. This is specially commendable as most people do this apart from their everyday jobs. MAD also has found creative ways of recruiting the right people and retaining them by staying true to its mission. I believe this sets them apart and gives everybody a chance to make a difference.
MAD to me was a shimmer. The warmth that accompanied that shimmer was what I was resting in. For extremely non-altruistic reasons sometimes, I have pressed on to be more and more engaged in the working of MAD. Maybe the reason developed into something inexplicable later and maybe a reason simply ceased to exist. The pleasure of knowing that one has successfully managed to channel at least one child in a group of 10-30 is what the MAD volunteers thrive on. There was something to look forward to at the end of the week after long sessions of boring lectures. Something that made us feel proud (not about our own selves but for the small achievements of our students), feel worthwhile (after hours of unproductive work, this was something we felt asked for what it was worth), and feel free (the freedom of going about the job was in the hands of the volunteers. Which meant: stick to basic rules and then practice your own thing. MAD is a chapter in each of those volunteers'; and one can be assured that it can never end.
Been with Mad for over a year.... Its an experience like none else... I guess we learn more than we teach!!!
The USP and success of MAD is that it's run by the young. The enthusiasm and zest that the volunteers show is unmatched. Their functioning is very systematic and organized, and their dedication unquestionable. I've happened to know quite a few volunteers and have closely followed their work over the past one and a half years, and can truly say that they are committed to the and driven by true passion towards the cause.
M.A.D has already made a difference in my life, all the areas of my life.I teach at Snehabhavan,Palluruthy-a kid's centre. The kid's here love all volunteers very much, as though we are their own. They started loving me so much right from the begining I hadn't done much for them but they didn;t stop loving. They taught me a new lesson in love, unconditional love. Once i was asked to explain to the kids on the need to study English.I am a public speaker but here i fell short of words.I cudn't think of anything simple that the kids would understand so that they learn english.I spoke just a couple of sentences. This incident changed my approach towards my studies.Eah topic I come across I question myself on the need to study this topic and its applications. I need to be very simple when I talk with kids. This helped me during the seminars i take.It helped me to present complex topics in simple format. I greatly respect the M.A.D rule thet you shouldn't hit the students or be rude to them. This helped in building my patience as I just couldn't be angry infront of the kids and set a bad example. Just a few months in M.A.D and I feel I have been here for long, making the difference and moving the difference.
As simple as it may sound, 'Make a Difference'(aka MAD), a youth and educational NGO started two years back and with a presence in more than 10 cities in the country, has been doing just what the title suggests... MAD primarily focuses on imparting spoken English and computer skills to underpriveleged children. This is apart from the various educational activities such as field trips, camps etc regulary organised to help the children become better informed reagrding careers for their future. It is very heartening to observe the levels of passion and commitment shown by its volunteers, most of them being college students. As I had read somewhere, 'while we teach children all about life, children teach us what life is all about', MAD has opened a two way forum for its children and volunteers to learn from each other. For more insights, please do visit www.makeadiff.in.
I have been totally awestruck to see the volunteers' devotion to helping out kids. They interact with kids just like they do to their loved ones. My interaction with the core volunteers also revealed the fact that, contrary to my belief, there are a large number of students/youngsters willing to "Make A Difference". MAD has grown to satiate exactly their passion. I would attribute the growth of this devoted community of volunteers to the stringent recruitment processes of MAD. Wishing MAD the very best.....
Hi, I have not been a part of mad , but though i have seen the kind of effort what they put in making a difference in life of the children, I have volunteered once for the program and the number of people who have joined mad to help is totaly unbelievable. I feel MAD is the best.
I joined MAD because I harboured abstract notions about meritocracy and equality in society, and the absence of both was a cause of severe disillusionment. MAD's vision of bridging the inequality in society through education was perfectly in tune with what I had in mind. But more than anything else, I was pure and plain sick - of wanting to change things and not actually doing anything about it. Over the last many months, I have grown to fall in love with the kids that I get to teach and I now look forward to the time I spend with them. From the greeting 'hello' from my kids when I walk into class to the parting good-bye wave, it is just one MAD experience. MAD is not just about providing underprivileged children better opportunities in life. In my view, MAD also helps in providing a platform to the youngsters like me who geuninely want to bring about change, but are clueless as to how to go about it. MAD has also succeeded in bringing into contact people from two largely different sections of the society. The kids get to meet law students and lawyers, engineering students and engineers, all of whom come to teach them in the capacity of volunteers. The kids who never had dreams beyond working in a petrol pump now aspire to be lawyers and engineers. For the volunteers, on the other hand, it is a humbling experience. A gentle reminder of the incredible opportunities that have been presented to them, and quite unfairly been taken away from many others.
I have been part of Make A Difference for over a year now. I signed up because I thought helping kids realize their dreams was a cause worth working for . When I was a kid , I was educated and taught to speak in english because I had a family who believed in me and sent me to school so that I could turn into a better person in life. What about the kids who dont have parents ? Dont they have the right to dream ? What we at MAD ( Make a Difference ) do is simple. We help them realise their dreams. We also teach them to dream big.! I spend twp hours a week going to SnehaBhavan , a home for kids.! I teach them how to communicate in English. We follow a standard syllabus that is provided by EEzVidya . The best part about being a volunteer is when you get to see results. Every time a kid tries to speak in English , the amount of joy and satisfaction that I get is un-measurable. ! These kids want to learn , a little push from behind and guidance in the right path will make them better people , men and women who will be able to survive in the competitive world...! After all , that is what education is all about. !
I have been volunteering with MAD for over a year. MAD I believe is revolutionary because it makes social service so approachable and convenient for the youth. Each volunteer just spends two hours every week at an orphanage thereby not hampering his personal life while at the same time providing friendship and much needed guidance to the kids at these centers.I believe it also initiates volunteers to social service-something they would never have thought about in a fun and appealing way. Hats off to the people behind this movement..
It's great to be a part of an organisation that's full of young people. The kids we teach are so enthusiastic that they make our day. And it feels good to know we're making a difference in their lives. The MAD syllabus teaches them to communicate in English which will come in useful when they finish their schooling. And in the process, they also have fun. :)
I've been working in MAD fr the past one year and its been a great experience.. Getting to know children from different cultural and social backgrounds, their ambitions and dreams.. helping them shed their inhibitions and overcome their fears..giving them hope for a bright future.. truly making a Difference in their lives..its been the most fulfilling endeavour in my life..
One year of tying to "Make A Difference" and i know for sure this is the best thing i've ever done the whole of my life. Seeing the smile on my girls faces, seeing them really try to speak in English, seeing them run upto me and hug me.. MAD surely stands out from the rest of the lot with respect to the amount of progress we make in a kid's life each year and the amount of satisfaction each of the volunteers get out of merely the 2 hours per week we spend with the kids.
I quit my job in feb 09 to spend sometime with my family before heading for higher studies to the UK.I've spent a lil time with Make a Diiference and have seen them work, up close.I must say amongst all the charities I have worked with, make a difference is surely the best. Unlike other NGOs I have toch based with..MAD somehow manages to interweave into my existence..It has a culture which enables one to work with them without disturbing much else in their life. This quality is beneficial in it that it helps a lot of people sign up for their programmes...
i have seen MAD Mangalore team work only through picture...and through the words of on of their volunteer. The way he explains what they did and the things in see on pics make me feel even i should be part of such a team.. who spend their little free time to get a smile on many faces... hats off to them... thought i'm a little far i would always wanna be a part of this org which is doing such a wonderful job. keep up the good work and i wish MAD great success in what ever they do.
Make a difference. I first heard about it from a friend at a dance class I used to go to. Me being the useless kid I am thought of giving it a shot, a short in the dark. Got all psyched up got prepared to go for the training and the interview! When I got there, I couldn’t judge if this was something far beyond me or if I was just wasting my time. An amazing presentation and introduction by the president of my city! Towards the interview, which was one-on-one and intimidating my nerves caught up to me and watching the others do crazy things like screaming that they’r gay and singing, I was wondering what I would be made to do! The interview went pretty good, exactly the opposite of what I expected it to be like, and the interview was’t the only thing that went that way. Got a call back and I was a MAD volunteer! The people I was with were all to-be lawyers, big surprise! Funny, enthusiastic, focused and energetic! I was a kid to them, I am, but they never made me feel that way! They all treated me with respect and gave me responsibility which I loved and depended on me, which being the unproductive girl I am, I was’t used to! Felt great, and I was determined to deliver! MAD, MAD, MAD! :D The first class that I took was so scary! All these new faces with a shine in their eyes, all pointed towards me, waiting to know how I sounded like. Screaming and clapping, gathering around me like I was a celebrity, wanting to know my name and everything possible! After I got to know a little about them as well, on a fresh day I took my first attempt to teach them English. The class was chaotic, I did’t know what the hell I was doing and, yes , it was a total mess. Later on as I got a hang of it and myself, I was able to get through to them, even if it was for that day, what I was told to teach them. Simple things like having a conversation with someone, which came naturally to people like me. It was tricky to teach them but I had co-volunteers which were wonderful and wonderful. I felt like I made a difference that one day, that one hour! It was the best feeling ever, to know that you are helping kids get to their dreams and stand up on their feet and make their parents proud. I had good classes, worst classes and overly amazing classes as well. By now, I knew each and every one of my girls by name and how they are! I loved substituting for anyone, anytime! What I want to say is, I started loving them! Their character, their desire to learn! MAD made me mad! The last class I took was the one before their diwali holidays, where we just had a heart to heart session with them, told them inspirational stories, stories about people we knew and ourselves! There was crying and hugging and everything mushy! They were MY girls. Strong, happy and roaring to be someone and prove themselves. Ashwini, a 5th grader came up to me and asked me if I would come back after the holidays were over? I assured her that I’m not going anywhere anytime soon! I came back home and cried like a baby for the fate they were given and how they without knowing rise up and fight. MAD not only thought me values, I could learn from 5th and 6th graders but also made me stronger and focused, for I was the partial role model for 30 girls after Kareena Kapoor and 20 other names! I was Making a Difference, and so were they. Mad is the best thing that happened to me, and I’m glad I have 30 amazing faces to know and love.
Joining MAD was the best things I have done in the past few months. i have now been with MAD for nearly a year. The sense of achievement that i feel when I hear my students speak English is beyond words. I have loved every minute that I have spent with my students. They are always brimming with energy and enthusiasm to learn more. I look forward to making more difference in each child's life.
I just joined MAD a few months back and i have to say that during that short period of time i've grown to love and admire the work we are doing. It truly comes upto its name and do Make a Difference in many people's life. Not only in the lives of those we teach but even in our own lives. I used to be one of those people who actually talked about making a difference but never really did it until before i joined MAD. It takes 'making a difference' to an all new level by just doing a simple work such as teaching a few kids english or computer and yet it makes u feel like you are doing something really important and making a big difference in a little kid's life. It is a truly great feeling and i am glad i got the oppurtunity to work towards a better future through MAD! GO MAD! =)
I had been a volunteer English Teacher at Make A Difference, Cochin for 3 months, and I can tell you that it has been one of my most rewarding experiences! The first thing that I noticed was the incredible diversity among the volunteers and the passion that they exhuberated. We had volunteers from different faiths and social backgrounds but we shared a common goal; Make a Difference in the lives of our less fortunate brothers and sisters from the streets and orphanages. When it comes to community / social service / charity, most people would just donate money and be done with it......but we, at Make A Difference devoted something even more valuable; our time. Our core mission is to give an edge to underprivileged children through English Education because we believe that a good command in the English Language can get you noticed.....can get you heard! And that's what we want to do: We want to give the kids a voice that can reach out to all corners of the globe and we want them to assert themselves and rightfully claimt the best that life has to offer. I had to leave MAD for my full time job and now for my post graduation studies.....but ever so often, I think about my time at MAD and hope and pray that one day I can do more than I think I can for MAD and our cause. MAD is an inspiration!
There are so many organisations which claim they do work but this one stands out. Why? Simply because they believe that promises are made to be kept. I've seen the commitment of the members to the organisation and it left me speechless. And still does, to this very day. And they don't do it because they have to. They do it because they WANT to. Its amazing.. And feels so great to know that there are people out there who are doing their bit. Maybe they can't save the world, but they're helping children and in turn saving them. That's way more than some of us have ever done! Great going guys, keep up the good work!
Make a Difference has truly been making a difference in the lives of many of the kids who live in child homes. The difference it brings along is large. Today, we all live in a world where english is being used as the global language in this era of globalization and it is because of an organization such as MAD, english is being taught even to children who cannot afford to study in an english medium school. Besides offering english classes, MAD greatly provides for the over all personality development of these kids and is giving them a life which involves a lot of love and attention. The class control techniques followed by the trained volunteers involves more of a 1 to 1 relationship and brings about a lot of security in the lives of the kids who are taught by MAD.
Everybody talks about making a difference, its a fashionable thing to say.But only a very few actually makes a difference even if its in a feeble way.MAD as I know is one such who believes in the power of education and what a world of change it can bring to the less fortunate and the more needy. The spirit of each maddie is infectious and the goodwill is spreading like a virus, albeit even that extra mile is sometimes not enough to cleanup the mess we are in, so keep going strong to stronger and keep up the MAD work.God Bless!
Make A Difference is an initiative to nurture the lives of the underprivileged kids. Sending one's kid to school and paying for his education does not give him all the support that he may need. There are still some problems that are too challenging for his age. Without some amount of personal attention and guidance these problems could prove overwhelming for the young minds. And whatever be the amount of sunlight, nourishment or irrigation provided to a sapling, it can never grow beyond the boundaries set by the pot the sapling is planted in. What we need to do is to repot the sapling in a bigger pot, to be that parent to these kids that even their parents can not be even if they wish to be. The motive is to give these kids an environment common in the celebrated schools of the city, to give dreams to the eyes that have forgotten the very process of dreaming and to instill confidence in the souls that have lost faith in their very being. The initiative is not just about teaching language and computer skills. There is much more to it. MAD is my new way of living..It has transformed me too...
Having just graduated from grad school i was still finding it hard to answer the persistent questions posed by my parents and family "what next?". I did not bother about answering that question at all. I had questions of my own what s the purpose of my life? What i can do to this life which has given me so much? I was more on giving back to the society and trying to give joy to people who needed it most. That s when my friend told me about MAD-make a difference. I was enthralled by the idea. I loved kids and was happy to know that i would be helping them in a great deal. Now whenever my relatives or family ask me what am i upto these days, whether am still wasting time? I tell them proudly No! I am volunteering in MAD i teach kids and i am using my time for a worthy cause. Am proud in helping the kids learn the power of a language of which i have been taking for granted.
Well, MAD is one of a kind organisation. The enthusiam of kids and the passion/spririt of volunteers make it a once in a lifetime experience for all involved. The noval idea in itself, to have the kids(underprivilaged ones) dream, to empower them with better education speaks for the NGO. Also being a volunteer, though for a short period of 6mnths, has made a diff in me too... such tht I see myself returning to being an active member in MAD...
I joined MAD to work on my social project as part of a course I was doing. The project ended, but my experience with MAD didn't.I was an active member in MAD for more than a year. And the kind of feel it has left in me is evergreen.MAD is all about doing our small bits for the society and a better future. Its no small thing and you will definitely have something worthwhile to remember in your latter days.GO MAD!
i've been part of the Make difference team for the past 2 years.I love my kids and i look forward to see them every week.i feel proud that i could make difference in their lives just by sharing what we all probably take for granted. MAD for life!
Make a Difference has not only helped me evolve as a person but at the same time instill a sense of purpose to my life. teaching these under privileged children has definitely made a major difference to my life and to theirs More of the youth ashould come out and join hands in bridging the gap in our society. what make a difference is doing is the first step towards it .
My experience with MAD has been really good so far...Being with the children is just awesome...and knowing that I make a difference makes me feel really good...
Make A Difference (MAD) has taught me the real meaning of being mad and has given me the confidence to dream for something which people often tend to forget. I have been a part of this NGO for almost 6 months or so and yea I have no doubts about the effort put in by the so called MADdies. The level of professionalism shown by the volunteers and the teams in different cities all over the country is simply commendable. My experience of being among the kids has been among the most satisfying and its true nothing can replace the happiness derived through teaching and being with these kids ever. My kids whenever I meet them are really happy and are more confident in meeting new people than they were before we started our classes for them. People believe me the feeling of being a MAD volunteer is something no one can estimate unless they themselves join this amazing organization.
"Science is the changing face of mankind" I opine it. What a man desires -he can develop through science. It's not which happens in laboratories is called science, science is everywhere in our every interaction. Science is learning & teaching in it's highest order which can be understood by all. i do this duty holistically to eradicate social evils from our society. I teach my children English. I consider it as God's premeditated decision that i should help for the betterment of the underprivileged. I want to see my children in much better position from what know they are:more knowledgeable, more decisive, more wisdom, much strength to stop the swirling currents of ignorance. Here i request the reader to search through & through mentally to see THE TRUTH in it's form. The Truth about the abysmal conditions & necessities. And by requesting so i shall leave my writing's here. My Commitment to Humanity- For every hand in need, i will sow a seed. A seed of strength, hope & love, untouched by the weed. I shall stay in the line, in every rain & shine. And watch it grow a life divine. A Child's Voice- Sitting in your lap, i begin to clap. The world will tap, seeing my purple cap. To the world's end, have my worries lend. I see no end, when you're my friend. ---- When the door of knowledge is ajar. I see the bridges not too far.
I Have heard about Make a difference and it does great work , always wanted to be a volunteer but never worked out, this is the least I can do
My experience with Make A Difference has been simply fabulous! Just to be with those kids and sharing valuable time and knowledge and just the fact that they looked up to you for inspiration was a humbling experience. It made me realise that Money doesnt buy everything. Time, education, values, moral insights, life skills- They all contribute. My experience at the St. Teresa's Children's Home just humbled me. If I could do my bit and help mould the futures of these kids, then with a combined effort we wouldn't have young children losing out on their childhood. They can live to their full-potential and be on par with the privileged lot even when it comes to job opportunities. They are making the Youth more responsible and giving these young minds a future. I recall the incident when a group of these kida at the orphanage were sitting around keenly and asking me what I studied. They were brimming with curiosity and eager to go out and explore. Make A Difference is really creating a difference. I wish them all the very best for the good work they are doing.
everytime I give up and look anxiously at todays generation...I remember these volunteers of MAD.Youngsters who not only make such a huge difference in the life of scores of unprivilaged children...they make a difference in my life. They remind my responsibility to perform better and make a difference everytime.
Being one of the early volunteers in MAD .. I found it very heartening to see it grow in front of my eyes .. I have seen the growth and i am happy that MAD has a strong foundation to support this growth .. It started with a noble thought and continues it as the ultimate aim ... "Providing education and competency in spoken English for the less fortunate children" has been the thought behind MAD .. With the way MAD has achieved their goals and the way MAD plans to achieve further goals, I am sure it can certainly Make A Difference..
The kids, the people, the places, the experiences becomes simply addictive... MAD is like a way of life. It is an NGO that puts its children first and goes far & wide to build their future and help them dream. Being a part of this youth volunteer network brings a lot of purpose, joy & unforgettable experiences to everyone who's a part of it. Go MAD!! ;)
Make a difference - as the name suggests, means instilling a change. Education is not yet considered a fundamental right in India. I still ruminate over days when I struggled to achieve excellence in education. Make a difference helps people like me who have dearth of opportunities to explore one's potential. To ensure that the youth understand the unexplored segment of the nation, I began with make a difference in Delhi. After 8 months in Delhi, the shelter home authorities have expressed gratiutde towards our team of volunteers for taking the first step towards educational liberty. Make a difference is undoubtedly the largest and most committed youth network of India. As Agha Khan states, In a world that is very rich, there are many who are very poor. MAD is about reaching these poor and help them achieve development in its true meaning. It is a change brought by the youth of today for the youth of tomorrow.
I could not have thought of a more apt name for the organisation which actually believes in making a difference to the society right from the grassroots. It has been 2 months since i have worked with the organisation and the level of commitment of the children, the volunteers and the management is just outstanding. The organisation is young and has the zeal to excel at the issue we are involved with - the education of underprivileged children. The organisation works very professionaly right from having the responsiblities of each volunteer clearly marked out to having a clear cut curriculum for the children. The look on the childrens faces when you go to meet them every week makes you feel so special and gives you the motivation to work harder. The experience working with MAD has been great and their is still a long way to go and a lot of difference to be made.
The importance of any Non Profit is Characterized by its Uniqueness of purpose and its ability to distinguish itself amongst the whole genre of Non profits , and above all the specific value chain it creates and how well it overlaps with the society value chain. I have an opportunity to work with this NGO for last 1 year, MAD was always making an difference but the thing that fascinate every one about is the impact an NGO creates. I PAT is the lettering of a formula put forward to describe the impact of human activity on the environment.Lets see it in our context. I=PAT. P stands for Population,I feel the most deserving and sought after Population(Its an metaphor here) for any NGO is under-privileged & dependent one. Here we hit the Bull's eye by focusing upon Kids of Children's home. They need it most. Then A stands for Affluence, Here we stands apart in the field Of Intellectual Affluence. We are having a rigorous recruitment team, prudent mentoring team, Sophisticated placement bunch & cornucopia of skilled volunteers who knows their job well sans the individual ego. This intellectual affluence is further catalyzed by the effect of youth reagent. Then come T,Technology; And yes we are equipped with State of art Technologies; like we have computer education for kids, we have evolved a elite teaching methodology in unison with Ezeevidya, our volunteers uses creative tools like Flash cards,ParaZumbles,Learning games(Like King Solomon etc.), we have build a rigorous networking amongst us by making use of biggest discovery of 21st century i.e. Internet. We have feedback forums, suggestion buckets, Idea generation sacks. The individuality of an volunteer is appreciated and nurtured, which in tern get assimilated into kids. We mix learning with fun by organizing out borne tripe for our kids, like summer camp. We are aware that we have to make their small world bigger by providing them magnifying glasses of better focal length. Spending 3 whole days with them at summer camp strength our's bonding. We have educational programs there like Art of Living, Memory Building exercises, You can move too workshops, sports , dancing classes; We make sure that we will color at least three days of their life with the colors of rainbows. And the difference is imminent after these three days. Regarding our Future plans , Yes we are evolving learning at phenomenal speed; We have our sly buss working on it; then we have to strengthen our Placement big; Work prudently on volunteer incentives; And yes soon we will get sly buss from Cambridge University; We will provide computers at all Orphanages,Will start full fletched computer learning for kids, list is end-less but there is no paucity of capability and execution.
It is not everyday that you get a chance to truly Make A Difference. I am speaking for all those who have gone through that phase- "I want to help those less privileged." All those who have pondered over a way to help the society, a viable method to try and restore equilibrium between the rich and the poor. All those who have in their most fantastic dreams, imagined themselves as a savior; a beacon of light to help fulfill the dreams of other, less fortunate individuals. All those who have spent hours at trendy cafes discussing the good and the bad, the oughts and ought-nots, passing judgments, and lamenting at the lack of education among the children of India. If you can identify with any of these above things, then stop talking. Stop talking now. Do something. Join MAD. Even the most cynical person would be forced to acknowledge that the guys who run MAD are true servants of the society. And professional, tech-savvy, organized servants, with a clear goal. I am bowled over by their commitment to MAD, and have been infected by the same fervor too. It is not every day that you get a chance to truly Make a Difference. Don't lose it.
Honestly, when i was called for an interview for the MAD recruitment, i had my fingers crossed. MAD has certain guidelines which keeps u hooked, it makes u realise your responsiility. I know I am lucky to be what I am but i find myself my luckier & complete with MAD.
To begin with teaching children is something i really enjoyed doing right from when i was much younger, with MAD this ambition has not only become a reality but in turn i realise that I'm able to reach out to so many kids and help them acquire a skill that can easily become their bridge to the global scenario. Anyway that's about how i joined and reacted to the initiative. When i actually started going to teach i found it hard, it was tough trying to make 50 highly energetic minds concentrate on something that obviously seemed less interesting than the next person's new sharpner. I was thoroughly exhausted on the first day and pleased at the same time because the kids responded to us really warmly, it seemed like the wanted to learn and that was what i wanted to catch on as an attitude for the class to function. As the classes proceeded things became easier, I knew what games to play in order to break the monotony or what wisecrack would ease an awkward student who was just inhibited to give an answer she knew. The kids too started absorbing well and three classes down the line we were on a roll, we had established an excellent mutual relationship wherein everyone would have fun and learn at the same time which is the priority at all times. Now even if i miss a class i think of all the kids and hope they're practicing and waiting for the next week as excitedly as i am. I hope i can continue the madness for a really long time. Cheers! Aparajita
Thinkin about Make a Difference i must say that it has been an experience that i shall treasure as well as marvel at!!! From being the most mischievious kid in class to trying to manage a classful of them.... nut the feeling of looking a clasful of children educated by u and who are able to successfully execute wat u taught them is a joy like no other..!!! having sucha deep ooted cause its the most fun organization i have been in...the kids are amazing and your peers n seniors show a wild and crazy side u mite never see...this organization has grown rapidly not only for the concept but with continual growth of efficiency of each and everyone of its members!! This organization has reformed me in many ways....patience(which used to be impossible) for one....social awareness, taking a stand and making a difference to the future of many..
MAD is definitely the place to be. Make a difference is an organisation that is inspirational to those who strive to bring about a change in the society. A network of young minds who struggle to make a difference to the orphan kids. MAD has given me the platform to reach out to the kids and help them cope with their lives, that i always wished for . I may not bring about a great change into the lives of these kids but a smile and a confident gesture keeps me moving forward to become a supportive latch to all these kids. PROUD TO BE A MADSTER !!
Had always wanted to make a difference to a person/society/country at the "Grassroot" level. But I was not able to figure out how that can be done. Monetary help to an individual or for a cause would certainly help, but I was not in a position to make a substantial donation for the same. That is when i came across MAD. MAD aims at invigorating the most essential element of a person - that of being independent through education. And that most comforting factor was the group was formed by peers with a passion. And they were open to suggestions being themselves exploring various options at imparting education, one that will be handy for kids in future. The course designed is very much different from the education methods used upon us. Being kids, they would always love to have fun. Thats what MADster does - learning through fun. May sound cliched but i have no other words to describe what we do. It gives immense pleasure to know how eagerly kids await for those 2 hours we spend with them. Their eagerness to learn, communicate with us inspires you all the more to immerse yourself at working this grassroot level. Though we are all young - both by age and experience in this field, we are passionate and confident that in the long term, these kids will definitely put to good use what we impart to them today.

My experience at mad was wonderful. Its not just about teaching orphans kids but also about knowing their psychology, multiple intelligence skills etc. The syllabus is designed in such a way that makes classes a play room rather a drab tuition room. And this is what turns me on. Also the work shops are lively and enthuse a lot of fun and energy with which we can conduct our classes better. You get to learn something and can satisfy your need for social service as well. So its a perfect package
MAD is possibly the best Serendipity that has happened to be till now.A MADster by accident,I am now totally mad about MAD. I'll always be thankful to MAD for providing me with the platform to reach out and actually make a difference to people's life. Interacting with kids belonging to Orphanages and Street Shelters and realizing that they are as intelligent and smart as us, if not more, has in itself been a revelation. And the fact that by just devoting 2 hours every week, one can actually bring about a difference in the lives of these very kids. The people in MAD, the values..Its all been fantastic till now and am sure it would be the same always. Proud to be MAD.
Whnever I used to see these young kids on street , I just felt very uncomfortable knowing that theres something I can def. do.. its just that I didn’t knw wat and how to do it.. The urge to be with these kids and make them see what they can become came across through MADD. From my first day with MADD and till date I have felt so satisfied because the way this organization work came as a complete surprise.. seeing the youth feeling for the cause and workin in a much organized way trying to make every small difference they can .. The course is so very well designed tht you can relate to the kids at home shelter , moreover I will alwys be thankful to MADD cos I am getting to live my childhood again and this time tryin to shape it in a more brighter way.. MADD journey is a long one, and I am all geared for it.. because MADD lets u know that there is an invisible connection between you and those special kids, who could also live a life like you..!!
I had worked with a few non profit organizations before i found out about Make a Difference, Delhi (MADD) through Facebook. My trouble with all organisations that i had worked with before was that, as a volunteer, I was never directly involved with the cause that they were working for. But MADD came as a pleasant surprise! As a volunteer with MADD, I was doing exactly what the people at the organizational level were doing. I was involved with the kids at the orphanage impacting their lives directly. Being a youth organization, they respect our opinions and ideas and not make us feel inexperienced. Another surprise was the level of professionalism within a youth non profit organization. its amazing to see how organized these guys are with the organizational team striving to bring in a well defined structure and processes within the organization. The curriculum is followed strictly in the classrooms to maintain the quality of teaching and the uniformity across classes in terms of what the students gain.I have been with MADD for 3 months now and enjoyed every moment of it. Working for an NGO has never been so engaging before.
hi!!!!!i came to know about MAD at my college....i found it very much interesting to educate under-privileged children....i feel very lucky to be a part of this organisation to help such kinda kids mold themselves so dat they will be able to face today's competitive world......my best wishes to MAD...... I AM FULLY MAAAAAADDDDDDD!!!!!
I came to know about MAD in a session conducted by the MAD volunteers in my company. The idea of teaching the under-privileged students interested me a lot. Since then I was contemplating joining MAD and participate in this noble task. I have joined MAD now and feel so excited about working for it. The volunteers of MAD are educated young guns, bubbling with energy and enthusiasm along with commitment towards the work. I wish all success to MAD and wish we grow by leaps and bounds. Feeling ecstatic going MAD !!
I just joined MAD..but the recruitment day was great! The kids there are so cute and so sweet! And I must tell it is because of the MADsters that these kids are the way they are! Way to go MADsters...looking forward to have fun! :)
MAD...I've been working with it for a year and a half now..and its already an inseparable part of my life!!! I can't imagine a week without meeting my kids, learning with them and yes, teaching them! The smile that bubbles on to the kids, who are waiting to see the bhaiyyas and didis troop in, bringing with them, news from the outside world, is invaluable! Moreover, the satisfaction that you get after teaching them is something i really can't explain in words...its like a happy feeling, and i feel like i've done something good that day! MAD has contributed immensely in moulding my personality..It taught me the importance of the human touch, few words of praise and affection, and that it can help erase bad memories forever! I love being a part of this cool organisation, and would want to continue working for it as long as i can... GO MAD!!!!!!!!
I had a great time being in MAD.. being wid the kids spending time with them and helpin them as much as i could n also learning a lot from them has been really a pleasure fr me...
A person like me who really loves spending time with kids feels that mad is the best place to be. I have a worked with quite a few ngos teaching kids but have never come accross 1 which is as active and organised as madd. The time commitment madd requires is also suitable for most of us(2hours a week).I feel this is my first step towards making a difference and the results show. I can feel the kids love us ,they like to be taught by us and look forward to the classes with us.I was extremely touched when one of my students actually came and touched my feet which shows how much they respect us. The best part about mad is the way the syllabus is structured , different activities for teaching a particular topic so that its more of fun and learning and quick learning. As a result the students dont get bored and are able to learn faster. The classes require some amount of preparation but its nice to see your work and effort getting good results. What builds and strengthens an organisation is its members which is a plus point madd has. everybody is extremely dedicated and friendly and in case of any problem which rarely happens we have a core committee which is extremely helpful, always available for us and friendly as well).Through madd i got to interact with a lot of new people and it definitely made me more outgoing considering the kind of introvert i was. i was also a bit confused about teaching as a career but now after working with madd i am sure i want to take this further. trust me teaching some1 gives you a lot of happiness and its better than any other happiness in the world.i really look forward to that 1 special day in the week which has changed my life!!!
The Trivandrum branch of Make A Difference came into being in the first half of this year and I've been with it almost right from its inception. Nearly all the volunteers are college students and everything is done by them. A student myself, perhaps this is why I don't feel so out of place at MAD. We learn from each other, we learn with each other. I have been teaching at the SH Jyothi Bhavan at Nalanchira for the past four months. The eagerness of the girls to learn and the enthusiasm with which they welcome us humbles me every time. I think I'm becoming a better person because of them.
The thought of giving back to the society had been bothering me for long.. but how?? and what?? there were so many options available.. but somehow wasnt able to identify with a lot of them.. until i heard of MAD.. why MAD?? 1. the space that the organisation operates in. if we really want to uplift the underprivileged children from their current surroundings, then basic employable skills such as English, computers and personality development is necessary.. otherwise, despite being educated, they will continue to stay within the confines of similar reality 2. professionalism with which they are going about the job.. even a not-for-profit initiative requires a professional approach to make it effective.. the syllabus designed, the feedback mechanism, teacher training, workshops enable us to carry out our tasks effectively.. 3. scalability - i think the scalability of this operating model is huge.. all we require is a motivated volunteer base, and we are ready to start in a new shelter home, in a new city, in a new state.. there are no geogrpahic constraints in the scalability of MAD 4. youth - i truly believe in the power of youth to bring about changes.. and MAD is just that.. providing a platform to the youth to make a difference.. i could go on and on about it..
Happy that iam getting a platform to express my experience and joy in joining this organization.MAD is in simple terms ultimate fun.Building tomorrows assets today. For any firm/nation,its the people who are considered to be the most valuable asset. If we can make the youth powerful in knowledge and skills, then we can see the future shine in glory.Thats what MAD does.Bridging the inequality in society through education. The rich has options, but what does the underprivileged has?The middle class has life, but the street kids wish for one.The growing has ways to measure that, but the poor has none to look after its growth.MAD works among these future assets of the country, teach them english and computers.Guide them with placement activities, career awareness and guidance, opening the eyes of an orphan to see a whole new world that he would not even have imagined. The organization follows the'young lead the young' strategy, hence sure of never dying spirit for change. All volunteers are so enthusiastic and involved, that they many times postpone or cancel their personal works and go to the centers to teach the kids.Over the last few years of MAD's activities,we have seen unmatched progress in the life of each kid associated with us.They now understand care, love and affection. They understand that they too can lead a normal life than any other.Above all they do believe that they proudly can say anywhere and to anyone that 'indeed life is blessed, and its in our hands to define our destiny',that too in pure english. Thanks to MAD that these kid's future is valued.
I have been a M.A.D volunteer for about one and a half years now. I joined having a very vague idea of what they did. I didn't want to change the world, and I certainly didn't think I could teach all that well. But the people there and the kids you get to teach change you overtime. I learned a lot from the folds of MAD volunteers. The kids and volunteers both are like family to me, as is the case with lots of MAD volunteers. There are kids who passed out and still keep in touch with me. Talking with them and checking up on their progress makes my day. MAD is driven by the youth, and as such it runs on the inexhaustible resource of youth initiative. MAD harnesses this potential to address a valid social cause of plugging the holes in the education system that underprivileged children are exposed to. Now, not only do I want to change the world, I'm convinced that education is the most powerful tool to do so.
I have been with Make A Difference for the past 7 months and each moment has been challenging as well as gratifying to say the least. From forming a new team in Mumbai, to finding like minded people to increase the stability of the services and above all, going each week to teach an eager group of children, it has been one experience I shall always cherish. The part I love the most about MAD is the confidence of each volunteer in its core belief. The ideology is simple. Education is the key to solving the problems that our society faces. The method is simple too - Lets teach. A plan is chalked out. A syllabus provided. Each volunteer is trained to make maximum use of the syllabus to reach the goal i.e a fluent English speak group of children. Not only have I become a part of MAD but now, MAD has become a part of me. MAD has helped me stabilise and motivated me to be the best person I can be.
