MAD to me was a shimmer. The warmth that accompanied that shimmer was what I was resting in. For extremely non-altruistic reasons sometimes, I have pressed on to be more and more engaged in the working of MAD. Maybe the reason developed into something inexplicable later and maybe a reason simply ceased to exist. The pleasure of knowing that one has successfully managed to channel at least one child in a group of 10-30 is what the MAD volunteers thrive on. There was something to look forward to at the end of the week after long sessions of boring lectures. Something that made us feel proud (not about our own selves but for the small achievements of our students), feel worthwhile (after hours of unproductive work, this was something we felt asked for what it was worth), and feel free (the freedom of going about the job was in the hands of the volunteers. Which meant: stick to basic rules and then practice your own thing. MAD is a chapter in each of those volunteers'; and one can be assured that it can never end.
