My volunteering journey at Make A Difference has been heartwarming and one filled with a lot of learning and growth. There is a certain level of happiness you get when you see your children and youth achieving small small milestones and your fellow volunteers finding a community (read home) here. Also, here as much as you teach your children and youth, you learn a lot from them too.

The work Make a Difference (MAD) is doing is immense, but it is the small-small moments that motivate a volunteer to go back every week to teach the children. It could be the way their face lightens up when they see you, asking you if you had lunch, making sure you are comfortable, and many other such things, which makes you truly care for them. Believe me when I say this – after spending time with them, you will want to do everything in your capacity to make a difference in the lives of these children. This is my second year in Make a Difference, and I am part of a support vertical. So, my interactions with the children were very minimal. However, this year, being a fellow and with everything going on-ground, I got to interact with the children a lot more. I can say that more than me making an impact or making a difference in their lives, they are having a huge impact and making a difference in my life.

I joined Make A Difference in 2018 as an Academic Support Volunteer when I came across with one of my friend at work place.

I attended the recruitment workshop and came across the organisation road map and age transitions model which really inspired me to be a part of MAD.

Next week I experienced volunteer leadership circle which made me realise a sense of family and like minded people with full of non judgemental space!

In 2020 when Covid -19 hit hard all over the world, I wasn’t sure about my journey in MAD but I applied for fellowship and got selected as Finance Fellow.
It was a life changing journey for me to take the fellowship role.
I worked in Making MAD Digital project to provide online education to our children in child care institutions and continued providing support to our children in the era of pandemic.

In 2021, I applied for Fundraising Fellowship which totally changed my perspective of raising funds.
I really came out from comfort zone as Fundraising wasn’t my thing.
I have been really introvert person and wasn’t able to interact much with people when it comes asking money for donations. But Fundraising fellowship journey really provide me that space and skill set to work within community as a collective to raise funds for children and create awareness about cause and organisation.

I become more vocal about cause and I have learned how to build and manage a team and work as collective!

This year I am representing our city Lucknow as a City team lead and I am really grateful to be a part of Make A Difference which provide me a platform where I am able to put more value in the system and able to make a difference in lives of our children who genuinely need our support.

Make A Difference really shaped me as a person. Today I am more confident, kind and grateful in my life. Really happy to say that I am MAD enough to Make A Difference in society ❤️

- Regards
Mohammad Nadeem

Being a part of MAD is the best decision I've made. I joined this NGO hoping to teach children and help them cope with living in shelter homes. Though I started out doing just that, MAD has given me many opportunities to level up and grow as a person.

Initially, while teaching kids and getting to know the organization, it became clear to me that I wanted to play a bigger part in making a difference. Soon I got the opportunity to take up fellowship and the entire team was nothing but encouraging. All the fellows were invited to a 'Leadership Conference' which was a 3 day learning and an amazingly fun-filled event where we found ourselves opening up and lowering our shields to show our most vulnerable selves to our peers, who become our companions by the end of those 3 days.

As much as we see ourselves grow, we also get to see the growth in the children and youth that we support. We get to see them conquer their fears and take on new challenges. At the end of the day, the smile on their faces is enough to let us know that we are truly making a difference.

My journey at MAD started when my best friend told me that MAD was up to take new applicants and at that time it was just another non-profit for me. I applied nonetheless and then had my first telephonic interview taken during which I was amazed at how sweet the interviewer was to me, and this pattern seemed to continue throughout the Recruitment and all the Trainings. I realised I was in an ecosystem of such amazing people who cared enough to make a difference in a child’s life and also cared about each person around them who was doing the same. I had found my people! I went on to meet people from different cities, different backgrounds, and different stories. I’ve made friends that I’m sure I’m gonna keep for life. In the past 6 months, I’ve been enriched in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

I didn’t talk so much to strangers before, it had always been awkward for me and I didn’t feel confident enough. But being with MAD, I’ve stood up on a stage and spoken my heart out in front of complete strangers, which makes me proud in many ways.

A month back, we had our LC and I met my new teams, which I was told would stay with me through thick and thin, and I know it’s gonna sound like hyperbole at this point, but it feels like a close-knit family. We’ve known each other as no one else has known us. We’ve shared our highs and our lows, and been our most vulnerable selves with each other. And I’m so grateful for that. LC was an experience that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Just like MAD. Now I know why they said, Once a MADster, always a MADster♥️

One week ago, we finally had the opportunity to visit one of the shelters and meet the kids there, and nothing could have been more inspiring enough than to actually see the change we were making with our own eyes. I was on camera duty, so I was capturing all the memories, and seeing a different version of the people I had known for months turned even sweeter. Though I didn’t get to spend as much time with the kids as I’d have liked to, towards the end, one of the children that I had interacted with came up to me with a paper origami star that he had made right then and gave it to me, and I hadn’t been that happy in days. This is what MAD did for me, and though sharing something this personal isn’t something I usually do, I felt that MAD isn’t something I should keep to myself, it deserves to be shared with as many people as possible.

I was an extremely shy introvert who wanted to serve the society. I joined MAD because I saw it as one of the ways I could contribute. I had extreme stage fear at that time and I had a hard time making bonds with people.

I started my journey as an Academic Support Volunteer, I used to teach science to class 9th kids. They were so inspiring, I used to enjoy teaching them so much. We used talk about dreams, history and so many other things also. One day in an activity they wrote letters to me stating that they enjoy my classes and that they get inspired from the conversations that we have. That was the most emotional and happiest moment of my life. I got to know that I am really making a difference somewhere in their lives.
Now I am in my City Team.
I facilitate, I conduct activities, I am not afraid to talk to a huge crowd and most of all, I have found an another family in this community and I am so very grateful.

In MAD I contribute in creating a safe space for kids and MAD is a safe space for me. I truly believe that God gave me MAD when I needed it the most.

I started off with this NGO just because I was too free during my college time.
But being here and feeling the vibe everyday, I just wouldn’t ever think of leaving the great work that I do for the society through this NGO.
MAD is one of the NGOs that actually do what they claim to do and which is very well evident too through their annual reports.
I just love the happy vibe that flows through each and every level of this NGO. Also, a special mention to the founders who just feel so homely and warm ❤️

I am an volunteer of Make A Difference since 1 year. I was helping 3 children of std 9th with their Mathematics subject. When I went to take my first class I was very very nervous, but the children made it possible with their soothing smile. I feel really connected to the cause. I got to see gradual upgradation with the hold of Mathematics of children they were really well versed in Mathematics. Someday when I asked them about their goal and ambition, one child told me that she wants to be like me, her MAD Akka, a MADster who will help other children to learn with the subjects they are facing it as difficult. This is my MAD journey and I wish to see more and more successful children.

I have started of as Academic support volunteer and chose aftercare fellowship this year. It's been a wonderful journey so far.

Meeting like minded people who works towards a common cause, whether it is educating children through weekend sessions (Ed support - 1st to 10th std), guide, mentor the transistion stage children (11-12th) or provide care till they become independent ( Aftercare - 18-28yr; college to career) even after they joined college youth have the confidence to reach out to volunteers if they need help/guidance in any stage shows the trust they have in the system.

To do these volunteers have a support system through which they can resolve, raise queries/concerns and done through fulltime employees of NGO and strats ready with suggestions/solutions..That shows the training they would have gone through, sounds like a dream space right. That's how I felt through out these years.

It helped me to grow as well help me to see things in different perspective. Someone in the volunteering team rightly said through this volunteering more than we helped others this process helped us to become a better person too.

I joined Make a Difference in 2008.
Initially the perception was to give back to the underprivileged kids in our society.Later I realised the problem was a global one and its just the beginning. The figures of children in need of care and protection had blown my mind.

Through my entire journey , I received a lot more than what I could ever give. The values of Mad as an organisation, the work culture here, the whole idea of a care collective, the love and warmth I received from children of mad , the volunteers , fellows and the entire collective is immeasurable.

The different roles I portrayed helped me learn and unlearn skills as per the need which helped me excel in my professional career too. My journey of transformation made me more empathetic towards those around me.

Mad has always progressed as per time. When the pandemic hit , our dream of bringing in technology at our shelters turned into reality. Being a part of the evolution team , I realised that we could support our children and each other even in the toughest of times.

Today in 2022 , when I see our children flourish as responsible youth , our volunteers achieve more and their transformational journey ,I feel blessed to be a part of their journey and having made impact , difference in their lives.
My belief in equitable outcomes becoming a reality is even more stronger.
- A blissful and proud madster!

I have been working with the Org from past 4 years now and its been nothing less than amazing. We see our children grow and thrive in front of us. The Org works around keeping the children at the centre. We volunteers are all like minded and we always work towards the betterment of children. We enable each other and form a safety net not just for children but also for us. We help each other as we grow. We build network throughout the country and we make sure where ever our children end up being, they will have one support system in that city. This place has my heart.

MAD is the maddest decision i ever made.. Not from growing personally but becoming the person inside out,

We not pnly support the vulnerable children because of their background but also that they become our second family in such a small tenure.

They will also design and enhance your personality from the scratch to the best peak.
I cannot even explaine my 4years journey into words..from volunteer to fellow, and a project manager. you get to know more than a corporate world.

I have been volunteering with MAD since September 2021. Its been a great journey in this 1 year. When I joined things were online. I taught children on zoom. But even when I was teaching online, children were as enthusiastic as they can be in a physical class. I personally looked up to Sundays for my classes. The second best thing was when the whole community of MAD met onground and got to know each other. MAD is actually "making a difference" in the lives of these children by creating a safe space for them.

M.A.D stands up for its name. It made a difference in lives of many kids..and it is even bringing up change in lives of many more kids. Changes the perspective of kids..it changes the way they see life..of all..it gives parental support to kids which can't be done so easily. Playing role of parent in a kids life isn't so easy and this is definitely a non-profit organization. Volunteers working there expect nothing..but the satisfaction one can get through this organization is amazing.. a volunteer or person who is closely related with M.A.D knows what life is like.. it takes a lot of courage and kind heart to be a M.A.D volunteer..its not as easy as we see it. I had joined MAD about four months back with the primary intention of not viling away my weekends. I signed up as a teacher, and from past stories from friends joining "similar"NGOs i had the perception of this being another vague, blurred attempt at giving some quality time and talk to the kids. But what really appealed to me, here at MAD, is the system. It's a carefully planned out lead up to the responsibility of being a teacher to such brilliant young minds. :) And the learning never ends, for every issue considered menial in an everyday classroom, is picked up as a challenge, scrutinized and solved with perfection. And this MAD obsession with perfection is what keeps us going, what makes us better ourselves with every "menial" task that we take up. The organised procedure itself makes one motivated enough to stick with the cause for a really long time. It's new, it's fantastic, it's MAD!, and I'm loving it! :D

i joined MAD with the thought of doing something for the society and what better than to do for the children at risk. MAD works with kids, teaching them, encouraging them to dream. We bring them in touch with the million paths from which they can choose one for themselves and dream their destination. we provide them with the language which will bridge the current gap between their vast abilities and the opportunities the world has in store for them. MAD is about believing in your dreams and working towards achieving them. The MAD teachers have to pass through the recruitment where every MAD value is carefully checked. MAD aims and does Make A Difference. MAD taught me to think above myself, the happiness achieve teaching those kids, knowing they look up to me, and i am helping them becoming a better person is unparallelled , especially when i realize that i am learning in the process as well..MAD does all it says.. It was a first time experience. Being in class, but at the other end (teacher's end). I was little worried if I can deliver, but my students knew exactly what they want from the teacher. Playing games that enhance their learning skills to writing on the practice writing scripts, they did it all. They needed a mentor, some one who can guide them. My most amazing experience was the day I realized two of my student's hidden interests. One of them, wants to become an actor and another girl loves reading poems. They all are very bright and enthusiastic, they lack little confidence, thats exactly what MAD volunteers help them gain. We learn from our students, they are one of the most important part of our lives. Its been great three months, every sunday put to better use, more fun and lot of jumping around and dancing along with the books :) :)

Make a difference, according to me is a great organisation that not only works towards giving its kids a bright career by teaching them English but also by teaching them life skills. What's even better is that we at make a difference also bring to light the various careers that the kids could take up, opening a whole world of opportunities for them! so far this has been a great experience for me, there's always a whole lot of activities for the kids that teach them so much! Its amazing how the bond grows between us and the kids, which only makes us work harder to make our kids realize their dreams! Personally, I think make a difference is doing a great job with all the kids and it keeps getting better as an organisation!

MAD is the essence of belief that even in the present day, people care, and people chose to make a difference, in their own little beautiful way. It's a place where individuals abundantly put in their time, talents, hopes and faith for the betterment of the society. The stepping stone towards anything big, great and whole is taking that first step and leading the way so that others may take theirs, and I believe I speak for the entire MAD family when I say that we are what we do. And what we do is who we are. I hope MAD grows in the years to come, and keeps touching life's as it has and inspiring the modern day youth, to come forward and be a part of the larger picture, and be the difference they hope to see in the world. Stay Lively. Stay Hungry. Stay MAD.

MAD is not just an organisation, its something that has become a part of me . Its a way of life. One in which you can actually SEE the difference you make, you see the children you meet growing up to be educated, powerful individuals. When you see the difference in their eyes, your pride will know no bounds. I have evolved as a person, learnt to deal with people and situations, MAD is definitely the best learning curve you could ask for. Leadership, team work and family values will soon be the very profound values you stand for.Its the experience of a lifetime. =)

MAD as an organization never stops short to continuously reinvent itself, be more relevant and meaningfully impact a child's life. By growing the volunteer and support network at a furious pace, MAD has successfully increased its resources vastly by finding and engaging talented, creative youth. With a model that allows almost anyone involved to benefit immensely, MAD is arguably one of the best organizations to volunteer time for.

The best thing about Make A Difference is that, here education is imparted in a child oriented way:) MAD does not limit to just teaching English to children, but also exposes them to the various opportunities they have after they step out of school. And along with the children i have also learnt a lot in this journey at MAD.

I joined Make A Difference (MAD) on Nov 1st 2009 with a short plan to help a few children till the end of that academic year (Apr 2010). However 3 years have passed and I'm still working big time with MAD, I never found a need to search for another organization, such is the satisfaction I got working with this organization. Just to name a few things that make me super-proud of MAD: 1) The quality of the child centric projects and the new standards that have been set 2) The evolution of the organizational structure to suit the existing projects and to accommodate more projects with scalability 3) The passion, vision and ground work that flows from the leadership team to the volunteers and back from volunteers to the leadership team. 4) MAD has become a platform for the youth to become leaders and champion various causes in the society through ownership. In my own circle, I've seen amazing leaders being made here. Thank you MAD for being an important part of my life and way to go MADsters!! :)

Its an awesome thing playing a role of a Volunteer aka English teacher . we not just made them learn but we also learnt many things like having patience , how to approach different people with different behaviors and we made our students to learn English in a MAD way.. It has succeeded in making difference in the society by not just making people learn English but also making children learn values. We had a great bond with students and these kids are taking all the chances to get the guidance from us. It is my great privilege to work in a youth driven non-governmental organisation which helps orphans to get the things which they miss from the individuals who have parents. -Guidance to their future is done by running the Placement Project - English project helps to make the kids learn the universal spoken English so that they can communicate fluently -Library project where we take kids to a place which is both innovative (you must have seen tara zamen par!!) yup this type of environment where kids become innovative.. coming to the english project MAD takes good steps by conducting BATS and other tests to assess the kids and these are valuable..!! So cheers MAD ..!! u r awesome!!

Little did I know Make A Difference would come to my college to recruit new volunteers, little did I know I'd have to go through an intensive recruitment, little did I know I'd get through, little did I know it would change me as a person so drastically. MAD hasn't just been an organization I volunteer for but a home where I found family, kids I would work day in and day out for, a discipline in life that I now strictly follow, patience that I possess, change that I strongly believe in, deeply embedded values and a new found hope and faith in giving. I have been a part of MAD for 2 years and it has been truly an eye opener. It has made me realize the potential in every child which could be truly enhanced if given the right opportunity, direction and a role-model and that's exactly what MAD looks into.

To say that Make a Difference is a life changing experience, is but an under-statement, to say that its a way of life would be, ever so slightly, closer to the mark. To say that it changed my perspective of life, is but stating the obvious... Make a Difference, is an organisation, founded to teach English to Children at risk, thus, improving their prospects for the future.. Its beautiful how, the very same MAD, makes students out of teachers, teaching them from simple yet bountiful lessons in a smile, a hop, a skip and a jump, teaching us to delve into our depths, improving each and every one of us forever..

Sunken faces, yellow eyes, malnutrition bodies are no big deals in India.
Even though people dying of hunger ad poverty is daily news, deep beneath us all we despise it and we want to end it but dont know how.
We blame it on politicians and corruption but deep inside we blame ourselves.
We question our luck for being born in a well off family and hide our helplessness with indifference.
Its not politics, food or money. Its us.

One day I got up with that realisation and got ready to Make A Difference. Ever since my life has never been the same. Never stop believing because Change begins with you!

How hard could teaching English to eight children possibly be?! Make A Difference has an intensive selection process, that ensures that they select the best teachers for their students and teachers who can be role models as well; something that all educational institutions to should consider doing, in order to realize the potential in every child! I've been teaching at MAD, for the past 2 years, and it's without a doubt the best thing that could ever have happened to me! The organization is in itself so well structured that it redefines what volunteerism is and ensures that every volunteer is driven and passionate about the cause. The fist time that I entered a shelter home and interacted with the children there, I knew I would never quit on this. Being in college did make it slightly challenging, to be able to balance both together, but the things I learn at MAD, I could quite possibly learn nowhere else and to be able to see the impact of my efforts on the children I teach is the best feeling in the world! :) Once MAD, always MAD!

Make a Difference concentrates mainly on providing English education to under-privileged children in orphanages. It is a very sound organisation at every level. Each and every person takes ownership and responsibility to make the difference his/herself. Every activity, every small change at each and every level is looked upon from one major angle -- WHAT IMPACT WILL THIS HAVE ON OUR KIDS ? Every mvoe is made to benefit them. Every small detail, every minute of this ngo is for the kids. I joined MAD in Aug-Sept 2012. MAD works at the core level...Kids. MAD is not a money-making organisation. Their main aim is to teach the kids and actually be with them. There are several organisations who claim to work towards similar causes but they fail to reach the core level, the very kids they are working for in such a skillful manner. Kids are benefiting in huge huge proportions with MAD. I am teaching Starters level kids and we discuss moral values and general chit-chat also. The kids are very bright and we teach each other. I am happy to find such a organisation. I wish more people would join hands in such a noble cause with such effective organisation.

I found out about Make A Difference on the same day that I read about the lack of education in India and the necessity of teachers.M.A.D had come to college to make a recruitment presentation. What REALLY drew me to this organisation was how its volunteers managed to be excited and serious simultaneously. There was no mistaking the passion and commitment in the voice of the presenter who urged us to join. But it was also made clear that if we did join we would be expected to give our best! I've worked with M.A.D for over a year and a half now and there are several things that set it apart from other Non profits. The lessons are structured, the classes are taken seriously and the volunteers are trained for the work they do. M.A.D is constantly working at how to make their impact on the kids' lives and so they encourage volunteers who have innovative ideas. Personally, I know M.A.D has become a huge part of my life. I'm satisfied with the change I am creating and interested in working at creating more. I cherish being able to go around and tell people about how "my kids" are growing. Initially I was of the mindset that MAD is about teaching kids only. I hadn't gotten to the part of playing the role-model part...but one fine day this view underwent great change. I teach the girls children of the Muslim orphanage where MAD Lucknow provides support. The girl kids aren't allowed to step out there. They are taught , play and live within the four corners of the girls' quarter. But when they came to know that I was a Muslim and I do have the right to step out of my house and live a life of my own choosing, it was like a life-changing revelation for them and for me too, coz I didn't know of their state ! Soon we had a talk with the orphanage authorities and recently, we were able to convince and got the permission to take them out for various placement activity !! ... and I'm so proud that I could be a part of their first step towards freedom (in a sense) :) .. MAD is an organisation that is extremely professional in its working. The proceedings are immaculately planned. Since it is a youth organisation, the exuberance of the young make it more dynamic and proactive as compared to the others. The best part about MAD is its environment. It is like one big family. That drives you to work harder and work for the better. I have had an amazing experience with MAD.

There's nothing more gratifying than seeing the joy on the faces of the li'l ones, in whose lives I've made a difference. My extended family - MAD - has given me the platform to work for a social cause that has an impact on the young minds of our country. I believe, that MAD doesn't look at it's children as underprivileged. In fact, they strive to make sure that they receive the best education, incentives and exposure. I feel blessed to be a part of this altruistic organisation. It is for all those who dream big, wake up and make it happen!

I am a M.A.D teacher and I love to teach the kids who have an enthusiastic approach to studies! It is the most fulfilling job that I have done ever and it's even better because M.A.D is no money-making agenda but purely based on 'social service' and as the name suggests it's based entirely on giving and spreading smiles. Being in the M.A.D family is one of the awesomest things that has happened to me lately! =)

If u are a person who believe in giving back to society all love and happiness you received from it. Then MAD - Make a difference is the best place, where you will get that opportunity but a chance to redifne and re-discover yourself among the kids who are the future of this nation. Main agenda of MAD is to enable kids who are under-priviledged. MAD enables these children to be proficient in different walks of life, through its various projects like Placement, English Project, library project etc. Apart from this working along with people of same age group who are highly motivated, make the journey with MAD more interesting and knowledge sharing.

I have been working with Make A Difference in Delhi since last September 2012 and this is my second continuous term with them. I came to know about the organisation through the presentation they gave in my college. The best part about the organization, which won me over was the dedication of the volunteers. The work they pursue is not treated as charity but first priority basis, which in itself is a rarity. The selection criteria is one of the toughest I have come across and involves a lot of hard work. MAD targets kids who need education and motivation and makes them realize that they can achieve. The syllabus used for teaching is very structured and we are trained to overcome our problems. Guidance is always available (The National President himself taught in my class to help me when I faced problems) when asked for. MAD has helped me grow as a person, made me feel important part of the society and capable of making a difference. Every time a kid comes to me and speaks something in English, it makes me proud beyond belief. The NGO is being run by a bunch of truly motivated, selfless and intelligent individuals who am sure, will achieve their aims. :)

It was not a while back when i read somewhere "I am not telling you it is going to be easy, I’m just telling you it's going to be worth it!” Ever since, all those hazy mornings and dizzy evenings never could make me lazy and stop me from making a difference. I still remember a while back when i was all set to take on this path one of my closest friend/mentor mentioning it to me that “I know you from years and you have always been work hard party even harder kinda person and now you say u wanna redefine urself all over again ... phiz phizzz .. plzz snap back to reality" .. Today he just stares at me and says... " I am proud of you " and i feel wish why something like  was not part of my life earlier than it is ... It has definitely made a difference to my life for sure .. :)

Being the youngest one of my family, I am a guy who got everything without any struggle, so i never realized the pain and sufferings of poor and needy people and also i didn't had a sense of responsibility. Joining MAD has changed my life drastically because it made a responsible guy. The moment I started teaching my kids, i realized that there's nothing in this world which can give me so much of satisfaction. A satisfaction which cannot be defined in words, it has to be experienced. After spending first two hours with my kids at the center, I came to an inference that, this is what i wanted. Being part of real CHANGE, being part of a group which drives change is the best work a youngster can do. Even though we teach our kids but in real sense they taught me the lesson of life. Joining MAD has been the best decision of my life and will always be. That's why I proudly say "I dont crib anymore, I do, I MAD "

Kids cleaning floors in the train compartments...kids selling tea...kids mending shoes....a very very heartbreaking sight and unfortunately a common sight too.I am a normal engineering student..a normal citizen of India who used to look through the plight of such kids but do nothing. At one point I decide to get into the politics and make my self see what i actually want to see...but that was just for a moment. Finally, things came searching for me what i searched for...I became a MAD VOLUNTEER.Honestly, being a MAD volunteer I just focus on teaching kids in a most efficient way. Make A Difference(MAD) works for the upliftment of kids who fail to receive secondary education or who have received but could not make use of it.We make them aware that respectable jobs does not just mean being an engineer or a doctor but there are hundreds of jobs that they could opt for if they have sufficient communication skills. Our kids go to very good schools, they study well but are pretty weak at speaking english and we all know that in India if someone speaks english he or she is definetly at benefit and can easily get a decent job.MAD has been working really hard in different cities all over India teaching english to underprivileged kids and at the same time we expose them to the job opportunities in the outer world. We recently took them to radio station and to one of the McDonalds.Although, Iam not in politics, although Iam not able to contribute to a great extent...but being a MAD volunteer Iam satisfied that my efforts will bring a difference to a certain extent.

I have been volunteering for 'Make A Difference' for the past 2 years and I know now that this bond is going with me to my grave! The motive, the motto, the people, and the most important - the kids... are everything that one can seek inspiration from and that can drive one to take some real action against inequality and the gaps that one feels exist in the society. What I do is - take out undivided/regular time out of my weekly schedule (every Sunday) and meet about 10 kids for 2 hours - whom I teach English formally and some 100 others (before/after class) whom I do some random chat with, some Hi-fives, some listening to their stories and voila! difference has been made! They would much rather sit with me and watch a cartoon on the laptop than while away time or think about their problems. They would much rather ask me meanings of new words and ask me to tell them what i do n where i live than crib about things they dont get in the shelter home they live in. They forget their problems, and I forget mine, and we all learn from each other. And this in itself can be life changing! This is how I do my bit to make a difference and in turn MAD does a whole lot to make me who I am - A teacher :)

But when I started my MAD life, it was not what I prepared for, or what I expected... it was much more!! the effect it has on the kids we teach is just awesome... especially since our kids are specially abled, they need special attention and more love.... these kids taught me there will be always reasons to smile irrespective of how worse the situation appears to be...!!! Last six months I grew as a human being, and MAD enabled it... Each and every moment that i have spent with my 11 SMALL WONDERS has been super special, starting from the day when i met them for the first time. My happiest MAD moment was when during one of my classes, i was walking towards the classroom with my kids by my side, they stopped all their friends and didis who were passing us and proudly telling them "ye humari english ki ma'am hai…..hello bolo" with a smile that was little too big for their faces. i already adored them but that day i fell in love with my kids…. :D MAD did not just give me amazing memories...it gave me a new family, self confidence & the ability to bring about change... Make A Difference, it is not just an organization. It is a movement, a gradual process that happens to you and should happen to the world around. It lets you engage with on ground problems and come up with your own solutions. Make A Difference helps you realize your own participation in the process of change. I have been engaging with kids for over a year now. When I trace my path to the beginning, I see that change has already happened. My kids are getting better at being at par with the more privileged world. They do so more confidently, with more belief and a community which will never give up on them. On a more individual front, it has been life altering for me. I have grown as an individual, I have pushed my boundaries (boundaries which I did not even know existed) for my kids. If it weren't for MAD, I would be wasted.

Being a MADster is a proud feeling for me as I am part of a team that aims to brighten the future of millions of under privileged kids from the very beginning. MAD is not an organisation, it is one big FAMILY working together with a common objective- to bring about a change in the lives of people around us. MAD has helped me grow as an individual. The kids we teach are so attached to us that we do not feel as if we are being pushed to teach them; it all comes from within.

The truest testimony to MAD's effectiveness is the way in which it makes its objectives actionable at the grassroots. 1200 volunteers across India might, at first, seem a boast-worthy statistic, but managing such a large volunteer body does involve hierarchization, and an often overlooked challenge in any hierarchy is how the ultimate objective becomes less relevant at the lower levels. Keeping such a large volunteer base motivated and engaged would be extremely challenging if the honesty of MAD's vision wasn't apparent in everything it did. As a volunteer, I believe in what MAD does and that's what sets MAD apart from many other non-profits.

Make A Difference. This organization promises to exceed the expectations far beyond one's imagination. When I joined MAD, little did I imagine that the impact this organization makes is so immense. And this change is not only limited to the children, one sees oneself evolving. MAD is making a difference to a generation which is in desperate need for it, MAD is making a difference to the children who cherish it, MAD is making a difference to volunteers who contribute whole heartedly to the cause, who put cause above self. And above all, MAD is making a difference. With commendable organizational skills, MAD has various divisions- the Placement cell, the operation, the English project, the library project, Finance. All geared up to make a difference! Associating myself with MAD has given me a sense of responsibility and. commitment that I have for the society. It makes one realise that in the society we inhabit, one needs to give as much one takes, if not more. And MAD made me do that 'giving' bit. And the MAD family is one family that anybody would like to be associated with. If one is true to the cause, MAD is happy to help. :)

Make a Difference is not just about teaching english to kids. Its something more than that. It helps the children at risk in their overall growth as an individual. Its not just about reading books all the time. Its about the application of english in the real life with the help of fun based activities, career awareness programs. The basic idea of M.A.D. is to keep the light of enthusiasm burning in all the volunteers and thus they pass it on to the kids effectively. It makes you feel that you are having fun while actually you are making a LOT of difference. The satisfaction you get after teaching the kids or doing any activity for the kids, is unmatched. How do you make a nonprofit grow. By volunteering for it. That was the truth, I thought. But then, after joining MAD, I realised how it made me grow. From being just a teacher, I became a Placements Volunteer. And for what? The recommendations? No! Because I did not really need them. It was the smile in the children's eyes. It was you making a change, as you wanted, and you'd be heard. Even if you were the 'never on time' backbencher who never did a thing. I'm somehow able to schedule a slot in my busy exam time to celebrate Diwali/children's day with the kids! i'm surprised to see none of my fellow volunteers arrive. I walk in and The Kids are ALL HUGS. I"m getting Used to it with every passing day! but something miraculous happened that day. A child walked up to me holding a sweet in his hand. He Says "Happy Children's Day" and gives a part of the sweet in his hand to me! well you might think it just a sweet! I used to think the same Until That day! well what we enjoy regularly was actually a delicacy for them and he wanted to share with me! it was like a 4 year old handing his toy to someone else! unbelievable. I was moved by this incident! MAD doesn't just teach the kids English, It gives them Love which Is more important for the well being of a kid than just education. Being a MADster (i.e. a MAD Volunteer) is not a walk in the park... You are expected to work hard but it doesn't feel like it. What I feel is so awesome about MAD is that all of us are bonded over the same values and a passion for the cause we believe in. Whenever we visit our center it feels as if we have come home... the heart melting smiles of our kids, the way they look forward to see you week after week... That's what keeps me sane that's what makes all of us make sure that we are there for them day after day week after week.

one of the best decisions of my life was to join this really amazing family...the M.A.D( make a difference)family. here we teach the orphans english, boosting up their moral and strengthening their vocabulary and speaking skills so that later on in life they are able to face interviews and compete with the rest of the world and at no point feel helpless or held back. the kids at the centre are wonderful, full of energy, very enthusiastic and sweet. the feeling of making a difference in their life is inexplicable. thankyou so much m.a.d!!!

Who ever said joint families are extinct? Well, they should take a look at my M.A.D Family! My best moment with MAD was over the summer vacation. I suddenly received a text from John, one of the kids i had taught last year. He happily informed me that he was living with his parents again, but would miss me and all the other kids in the shelter home. We exchanged 5-10 random texts when suddenly it hit me - John was texting in near-perfect English. Excitedly, i re-read the texts, noticing how the J in John was a capital and how he'd remembered to use the apostrophe in "I'm". I was overwhelmed...yes, I had made a difference :)

I've come to know about MAD through my friends who are a part of it. MAD is indeed doing a noble task by spreading the light of knowledge to the less privileged, who forms the majority of our country. The activities undertaken by MAD has motivated me to participate in whatever way i can. I would encourage you to lend a hand in its endeavour to mould the future generation of India.

As an intern at make a difference, within 2 months i realised how important it is for an individual to know and play his role in the society, not only for the benefit of the under-privileged, but his self growth. For the first time in 18 years of my life i have been away from family on diwali. I was extremely depressed till the day came for our project to celebrate the festival with our kids at st. mary's school, bangalore! We released air lanterns and asked the kids to tie their wishes to each! They had simple wishes to be loved, recognized, have a family, visit a zoo, amusement park, etc. The smile that i saw on their faces, the warmth with which they wished me, made that the best day and the most awesome diwali i have ever had with my new extended family :)

Make A Difference aka MAD is a nation wide organization led by youngsters who share the passion of contributing towards the society by teaching under privileged children. The best part of MAD classes is the fact that it isn't the same monotonous way of teaching. The books are designed in a fun and interactive way, to ensure that MAD brings about an overall development in the child's character thus helping them to approach life in a positive way! Besides this, MAD has various other projects like the Placements Project which aims at exposing these children to several career opportunities around them. I came across MAD through a social networking site...and then came the recruitment drive and 'I became a volunteer' !! After every class that we take...the awesome feeling deep down your heart is something that just can't be explained in words...When I look back now, i feel that MAD is the BEST thing that has ever happened to me! Being a part of MAD has made me realize that I too can MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Make A Difference (popularly and fondly known as MAD) is a platform for youth empowerment. It is a youth based organisation which teaches English to underprivileged kids at their shelter homes(centers). It also has various placement activities and extra-curricular activities (such as an annual adventure camp). MAD functions on three values- 1. Family. 2. Leadership through ownership. 3. Cause above self. It is spread in 23 cities in India with over 1500+ volunteers teaching over 3500+ kids. I joined MAD this year in the month of July, and since then, it has become a very important part of my life. The entire week I look forward for the weekend when I get to meet my kids again, teach them, interact with them, listen to them as they give me details of how they spent their week with shouts of "Didi Didi" coming from every direction, to plan with my colleagues the various activities that can benefit the kids and help them broaden their horizons. Each and every volunteer at MAD is sincerely dedicated to the cause and the three MAD values and we all work really hard to give the best to our kids. Personally, MAD has provided me with a new family- the MAD family comprising of all the volunteers and our kids. Our monthly meets no longer feel like meetings, they're like a family getting together to discuss the month that went by and plan for the one that's coming. MAD has helped me develop my personality as well, it has shown me all that I can do when I try. All in all, MAD is making a huge difference, and helping others in making one too! :) :)

Life with MAD has been so much more exciting.. so much more fun and so much more inspiring. MAD gives you a chance to feel good about what you're doing. I never imagined that giving in time as little as 2 hrs could give me so much happiness. I still remember my first class, I was so nervous before entering and teaching. I would be lost in thought thinking Can I do this? Am I capable enough of catering 10 children. And when the day came, it was such a huge success. I loved every moment of it. I love teaching and spending time with these children. Every week I look forward to Saturday, to taking a class, to meeting my kids, to making a difference in their lives. There was this one incident in the centre where I teach, We had a placement activity for the kids called Career-O-Poly. After the activity when I was winding up, this little boy from my class comes up to me and says "Miss, Can I help you?" . After a year of working with him to teach him english, the feeling that I got when I heard him say this sentence in English. I mean it was so little for us , but it was a huge thing for me. I was so so proud of him that day. That finally he can converse in English, he's actually using the things we're teaching. That day I felt , Yes , I made a difference. Thank you MAD for giving me that feeling. Thank you for giving me a lot more in return. MAD is an awesome platform to help the children, and lets face it.. these children are the future of our country.

How is Make a Difference different from other NGOs? When you first join as a volunteer, things pretty much look the same. You go in with the intention of helping kids and teaching them every weekend. But once in MAD, you realize it's much more than that. MAD grows on you, and what was once a one day on a weekend thing now becomes an integral part of your everyday life. Through MAD I not only came across extremely bright and talented kids, I also have the privilege to meet brilliant and inspirational people. Whether it is the volunteers I work with- who are so dedicated and passionate towards the cause or the Sisters/Fathers/Caretakers at the orphanages we teach in- who have made it their mission in life to protect and nurture these angels. Everyday spent with these people lends hope and inspiration in my life. Make a Difference has lived up to it's name. I have seen the change it has brought out on the children we teach- smiles when we arrive, fighting for a mark when scores are announced, eagerly raised arms waiting for a chance to speak when asked what they want to be in life. This is the difference MAD has made and I'm glad that I've had a chance to contribute to this wonderful cause.

Whats absolutely remarkable about being a MADster is that you not only help the underprivileged grow but at the same time you become a better, socially responsible person too. Teaching kids helped me learn so many things about life ; To be happy with what I have, to dream and to love unconditionally. My kids who've begun with the alphabet can now converse in English with ease. They sometimes correct me too! Its been 2 years since I've been making a difference in their life(and them in mine) but I am waiting expectantly for the day when my kids come up to me and say "Akka. I am now a graduate."

Something around her was disturbing her very much. she tried not to see many alot of things. But every where she came across kids who are of the blooming age striving more than their abilities to earn a penny. She tried to do something but she didn't get any chance or platform to do any difference in any kid's life. One fine day a friend of her suggested to join a Make A Difference (MAD :D) which can really make her satisfied for the things she was missing in life. she happened to attend the interview and gotttttt alot inspired and luckily got recruited tooooooo. MAD is a platform for every person in it. It gives the volunteers their heart bursting satisfaction to deal with the kids who do not know anything about life by starting teaching them and also tooooo make them aware of this society and the careers they have futhur (through career awareness program). It really can Make A huge Difference in a very kid life...:D. I was in college one day when I saw this poster of kids smiling.. I went closer to see what it was and that poster touched me. That poster was the reason why I joined MAD in the first place. It got to me. Why MAD? There are so many other amazing and well reputed NGOs in hyderabad but I chose MAD because there is something special about it - about the people who volunteer, about the ambiance and once you're in MAD, you aren't just a part of an NGO, you're a part of a family. Make a difference is an organisation that shows the country how different they are just by doing what they do. I've learnt so much from MAD because they don't just teach kids English or give them hope that they will be able to be the future of the country one day, in lieu they give them a vision and a platform - two things children lack these days. MAD boosts kids to their potential making sure that kids with varied interests still have a chance to be who they want to be. MAD allows children to be themselves, to be loved and appreciated for who they are and that's what an institution must have. It must have the resources to make kids feel special, kids who don't feel special daily. That's what I believe everyone in the present day needs - everyone needs to feel special. It's when people feel special that they work at themselves as human beings and become better people, become good people.

I am Deepa from Pune. I work as a PR intern since July 2012 with Make a Difference. As the name states, we work towards making a difference in as many lives as possible. The main motive is to help the unprivileged children get better opportunities in life by empowering them with English language. Yes, our volunteers go to observatory / shelter homes and teach young children English through books prescribed by Cambridge Press. In this way, youngsters too learn their role in the society. The other aspects of MAD include placement activities after these children grow, fundraising events and leadership development arenas for the youth. My experience so far with MAD has been full of learning, meeting new passionate volunteers, organizing events for kids as well as others and gaining a platform to give something to the society.

Make a Difference is definitely the organization that I was looking for from many years. Providing education to the under-privileged all across the country is not a simple task. But it is wonderfully being undertaken by the youth of the country under this banner of MAD. This organization not only helps the needy but also equips the youth of the country in becoming the rightful citizens in the future. Make A difference has changed me into an entire new person. I have learned a lot myself after becoming a part of this organization. I have learned to be a leader, I have learned to speak openly in public, I am now much more confident about myself than ever before. And the happiness that you feel after you return home finishing the weekly MAD class is just mind blowing. It's the kind of feeling you get when you know that you have done something great, something that could change one's life forever. Everything in MAD seems to be running so smoothly and quietly but all this is due to the awesome core team that each city has. And the core team in my city is awesome. Everyone feels responsible, and everyone is always easily approachable. Whatsoever problems the volunteers or the kids or the center has, the core teams always knows exactly what to do to put it back into the right place. So in my opinion, MAD is the best nonprofit organization ever. If you don't believe me, just hop into my boots and feel the experience that MAD provides you, and i promise, it will be an everlasting impact on your heart.

Make A Difference. I am in 12th standard and I have worked with Nonprofits since the age of 15 and Make A Difference is by far the BEST I have been associated with. It's ability to ACTUALLY make a change, a difference in the life of EVERY person it associates with is heart warming. It's not ONLY about teaching children, it's about helping them grow as human beings, it EMPOWERS the children and treats everyone who is a part of it, in ANY way as a family. Every Sunday when i go to class, it's a joy knowing I am teaching the children in the best possible way as I have been provided training by the organisation, teaching the children from the best possible English curriculum ( the Cambridge one to be specific) and most importantly knowing that if I am faced with a problem, I have a family, I have mentors to look up to. Being associated with MAD has been a privilege because it is not just focused on teaching English but also empowering the VOLUNTEER as well. It's given me a WHOLE new perspective towards life and I will be ever so grateful. I have found a whole new family not only in my fellow volunteers but also in the kids I teach.thank you MAD

On weekends I go there to teach the kids, I see how many brilliant minds are kept away ."The soul is healed by being with children" by Fyodor Dostoyevsky , is true. The very idea of MAD to change current position of our country by educating the kids is Awesome. MAD is like a school which I dreamed of when I was a kid, like getting to do extra curricular activities while studying etc.. Make A Difference, for me started out as journey where I gave back to the society I belong. That hasn't changed much since I started with them, but this unbelievable satisfaction you get, when kids in your class recite an English poem, you taught them, will great confidence, is just a feeling that can never be taken from me! More than 1 year into the organisation, a whole lot of things and processes have changed, its become a very structured organisation but that satisfaction I got when I started out still is the same. It has changed me as a person, I rather care about the unconditional love I get when I teach my kids than about the materialistic approach to life.

Proud to be a member of the Make A Difference family since September 2012! Been working with the MAD chapter, Bangalore and trust me, my life has only been getting better ever since. MAD pushes you to be your best. It is more like a way of life. More than the change we drive in the community and the kids, there’s more change the kids and the organisation help us drive within ourselves. MAD is a platform that helped me sharpen my professional and leadership skills. SATISFACTION! Yes, the satisfaction you gain at the end of the day by putting cause above self, is incomparable. It makes your day thinking of the smiles your work brings onto the numerous children you reach out to in the Country! No feeling would ever beat that! GO MAD!!! You are the best thing that ever happened to me.

Make A Difference has been the best thing that happened to me in 2012. It isnt just an organisation its a way to life, an involvement and attachment with the kids that i havent seen else where. every class that i teach i dont just help the kids but i myself evolve and grow as a person. what amazed me the most was how beautifully structured and how well planned every event is. if i have to choose an organisation to work with it will be MAD over and over again. the smiles of our kids, the love of our fellow volunteers and the joy of teaching makes Make A difference not just an organisation but a BIG MAD family.

I have been a part of Make A Difference from the past 3 months. And just in that short span of time, I have realized what amazing work is going on nationally to bring about the change in a child's life. With being more than in 23 cities all around India, MAD is one of the best youth volunteer network with an amazing impact on the kids. If I were to describe Make A Difference in one word, "Life" would suffice. We as a society have so much to do for the others and MAD gives you all of the opportunities and all the platform to bring about a lasting change in someone's life.

An organization in a country where the energy of the youth is untapped and lies dormant throughout for a really long time is smart. MAD for me is exactly that. It has changed my life, in the literal sense. A feeling of thorough and complete happiness is what I have now. MAD has given me a chance to see what is wrong with the country's education and has helped me do something about it. Like its often said at MAD, its a YOUTH EMPOWERMENT organization that helps the young people to become CHANGE leaders and drive positive social changes! Its all that and much more. You never stop in Make a Difference. Its a mutating evolving process which is effervescent and progressing towards a phenomenon that I'm sure will not just stop at Educating!

Bringing change is possible only when education is made available to each and everyone in the country. Because government is not able to organise it properly ,we youth leaders took the responsibility of bringing the change by education children at risk. Besides education ,we even provide them career awareness, and scholarships for their further education. Each and every part of the organisation is properly planned and well organised. We grow exponentially and we create a very great impact in the coming years.I can see no other non profit organisation works for bringing a very good change in the country like we do.So i've rated it a 5star.

MAD addresses the root cause of the problems that currently India is facing, ie. lack of education, to be precise lack of quality education. Problems such as poverty, crimes are some of the examples which are caused due to lack of education,. This lets the poor remains poor and some times pushing the poor youth into wrong doings. MAD exactly attacks this concern and efforts are made to provide the quality education to the kids at risk. Also majority of MAD volunteers are young people (< 30 yrs of age), who are packed with high energy and the hunger to give best whatever they do. They do the difference themselves rather than waiting for some-one else to do something for a change. Also in terms of volunteer satisfaction, this is one of the best way of giving back to society, because the donations made in kinds (ie money, food, clothes ) all will be temporary but the education that the children get in MAD is for their life time and these kids themselves can help the poor once they reach to good positions.

Teaching underprivileged kids and organizing constructive activities for kids is something that many Non Profits do. Yes, Make a Difference(MAD) does that too and does it well! But MAD is much more than that. I have been working for Infosys from the past 3 years. But the work I have been doing simultaneously at Make a Difference over the last one year has totally changed me as a person. I was a very shy and reserved person when I joined the organization. But now, I lead the city operations and interact with numerous volunteers to make sure that the city is running the way it should. I know for a fact that MAD has pulled out the best in me. If I have any good leadership qualities now, then its all because MAD believed in me.

I have been a volunteer with Make A Difference for over three years now. I joined MAD in Sept 2009 because I had a lot of free time and I love to teach English. Two hours of class every week. But even in those few hours, I realised I was making a tangible difference in the lives of the kids I taught. And suddenly MAD became much more than just a feel-good way to spend my weekend. It gave a sense of responsibility to me. I felt responsible for those kids and since then there has been no looking back.

Alright! MAD came in unexpected since I had randomly signed for the recruitment process. With my first class, it was a life changing experience, how kids who have never met you before look upon you and confide things to you, how spending hours with them just excites you. This organisation is different from others since here we look upon not only bridging the gap in their English speaking abilities but also give them exposure to the career options that they can look upon and which are practical. But most importantly along with teaching them things and lessons you learn lessons of life, which is having everything is not what counts, but knowing the worth of it does! It is very exciting to see how these kids don't want to let go even a single MAD class, since we don't indulge in conventional teaching methods, but come up with activity oriented classes which they like! On the whole, this is good to see an organization making a difference in about 5000 kid's life across the country.

I had Parents who took care of me when i was growing up, they sent me to school, they took me to movies, they bought me clothes, they bought me candies and sweets, took care of my health and were always there supporting me, well most of it i didn't understand growing up - And probably would not understand how important this is in one's life until i met the children of MAD. They didn't get most of it, some not at all....MAD volunteers across the country strive to empower the children with English(To bridge communication inability). The placements project gives children the exposure for career options and guides them towards achieving it. We Cant give what a parent can or what they have lost, but we at MAD want to make sure their future is safe, secure and if not better in equal with rest of us. One of the most beautiful experiences of my life has been working with Make A Difference a.k.a MAD. I always believed that a single individual has the strength within to be a change agent and create magic; MAD is the living proof. Each child, each volunteer and each story makes me a firm believer of the cause.
My father would often repeat the story of his struggles and his success during dinner time. He would always conclude with "Education is the only key to achieve all your dreams". The MAD cause is very personal to me. Hence, every week when I go to teach and see the change we are bringing, it brings a lot of satisfaction. Lots of hope too, for the amount of stress MAD pays to the quality of education and support it provides is quite astounding.
For me, in the end it is all about the smiles. That's the only proof I have that we are going in the right direction and MAD has its heart in the right place.

MAD- make a difference . I have no words to explain the scope of this organisation or rather this family . Huge numbers of volunteers spread all over the country working for a single cause and the best part is when i became a member of this family . When i joined this organisation i was of the opinion that it was a group of volunteers who join hands and teach english to kids at shelter homes . But after joining only i realised that it was way beyond my thinking . For many of my friends who watch me go to teach every weekend it looks like a simple time pass and a charity but least do they know that i go there to be myself and learn how to live and be happy . I still remember the day when one of the kid walked up to me and said "i wanna talk in english like you" and that was the moment when i promised myself that i would give in my best to make a difference in their life . MAD for outsiders is any non-profit organisation helping little children at risk secure their future. This is precisely what we do, yes! But along the way, MAD gives us an opportunity to witness, participate in so many important events and episodes in those little kids' life that it changes you as a person, changes you from the inside. Celebrating a little girl's birthday with her friends and teachers, making little cards for them during festivals, celebrating Diwali, Holi, Christmas et al; might seem small and trivial to us! But the smiles this small effort brings on their faces is to die for. And I am more that glad that I get a chance to be a part of this. Their happiness makes you happy. And when everyone is happy, we are living in a better place than before.

MAD, Make a Difference is one organisation that really stands up to it's name. When I came to know about it through a phone call by a friend, the name was one of the reasons I said yes. I thought to myself, I always wanted to do something nice for a cause and here is the chance and I did not want to wait till my mind could make excuses. So I went to the recruitment right away. As time went on and the teaching program started I was something more than just a volunteer or a core team member. I was family. The team, our teachers and our kids. One big family. There is tangible change happening every moment as the classes go on. Our kids, who could barely speak in English, started writing us thank you letters with impeccable spelling and grammar. While they used to while their time away sitting around idle, we now have kids come up to us and ask what they should be studying if they want to become doctors and police. They are much more confident than the day I met them. Just like me. I was a mere student from a college when I started being a part of MAD. But the wonderful way, professional almost in which we work, has inspired me beyond anything I can describe. Every little detail is looked after, with careful precision. The way the whole system operates, be it the syllabus, the very strict recruitment for our teachers settling for nothing but the best, this defines the concern with which MAD wants to deliver the best for these children. In fact it has made me a more responsible person, helping around the house, making my projects on time, making my mom wonder what has gotten into me. All I can say is, this is the best way to Make A Difference. :)

Having mentioned the aesthetics, MAD is a social entrepreneurship which allows the youth to take leadership through ownership to novel heights, after the set up of it's newest division called Friends Of MAD (FOM). FOM it MAD's own fundraising organization which engages every individual donor involved in the fundraising events conducted by MAD. MAD has pushed my efficiency to new levels, but more importantly, MAD has helped build a kingdom of good samaritans, willing to help MAKE A DIFFERENCE, waiting to be expanded. =)

MAD is a place where they nurture talent. Talent that in-turn affects thousands of children at risk. Apparently it does not stop there, does it ? The lives that MAD touches does not restrict to children at risk. it defines and changes as volunteers and leaders of the MAD cities. I owe it big to MAD for me being where i am today!

Make A Difference has been the best thing that has happened to me since 2010. It's been a great platform for me to give back to the society. MAD gave me a platform to develop my leadership skills and gave me an opportunity to work with like minded people to take this organization forward. Love their entrepreneurial program for young people and also admire the way MAD redefines innovation. The impact it has created in the lives of 4000 children in India is commendable.

I have volunteered with MAD for a month, and more than anything else, it was fun sprinkled with oodles of satisfaction. Attending MAD's tuition sessions were optional for the students. But this bunch looked forward to their activities like it was playtime. The volunteers managed to teach the kids and engaged them in interactive sessions like games and songs. MAD has given these students a room for ambition at the right stage in their lives. Their volunteers know how to deal with each child and tackle their problems with ease. The children don't look up to them as teachers, but as family. I'm glad I was a part of the organisation, though for a short period.

In all association has taught me that I am not what I am because I am intelligent..I am ME because I was blessed with right education and opportunities..we need to extend the same education and opportunities to the needy kids..so that they become better than ME..Thanks MAD

"Full many a gem of purest ray serene The dark unfathom'd caves of ocean bear: Full many a flower is born to blush unseen, And waste its sweetness on the desert air. Some village-Hampden, that with dauntless breast The little tyrant of his fields withstood, Some mute inglorious Milton here may rest, Some Cromwell, guiltless of his country's blood.", lamented Thomas Gray in his poem 'Elegy Written in A Country Churchyard'. True, lack of opportunities and exposure often nip ones talent in the bud which account for the birth of MAD. As the name suggests, 'Make A Difference'(MAD) is yet another NGO in the country which works for the same generic and rhetoric cause - 'child education'. But what makes MAD stand out from other thousands of its clones are its 'different strategies, idealistics and above all, the passion to bring about the difference 'effectively'.

being a part of MAD is a pleasnt heavenly experience in itself.i came To know about MAD from few of my seniors in college.we had this huge recruitment ceremony where we were judged on our talents to cope with people n our dedication towards helping others.it was a fun experience.then we were alloted our respective centres.i got the observation house in nanapet which is all girls observation house.all the girls there are under judicial coustody.as i m alloted to teach grade 2 students it requires a lot of patience on my part to deal with them.i go for classes once a week n that hour of the day becomes the best memorable hour.the cutness of those little kids sways my heart away.the most funninest thing is they begin the class with all vigour n enthusiasm but after half n hour they losse all interest n spaceout.so it becomes our sole duty to keep there concentraion intact by incorporating diffrent types of games which can keep them joyful and in the meanwhile can provide them with some basic knowledge.overall the experience of being a MAD volunteer is itself MAD

They have eagerness to learn and standout in the cut throat competition of present scenario.Apart from education various celebrations like children's day , Diwali, Christmas day which are held for them helps them to be the part of the society and enjoy them to the fullest which in time was not possible for them.Along with MAKING A DIFFERENCE in others life it has MADE A DIFFERENCE in my life. My association with M.A.D has been very recent. But within this span of 3 months, the kids have warmly accepted me in their lives. The smiles on their faces each week as they greet us are probably among the most pleasant and gratifying things on earth. They treat us more like friends than teachers- fuss with us, complain about things they don't like, joke n fool around, ask us about what they can be in the future, study- basically, just be kids! Its just wonderful how M.A.D has brought us students together for a noble cause. We all want to give back to society, do something meaningful with our lives, something we can be proud of- M.A.D has given us that medium.. Everyone has a benevolent side to themselves and a desire to do something for those who are less fortunate, but not everyone is as lucky to have an organisation like M.A.D, that helps them to achieve the same..

I always wanted to join an NGO,but like those promises we take up with great zest and zeal ,and then forget by sweeping them silently under the carpet of our mind ;and letting them lie there.Where they then turn to those much dreaded "empty promises" .I pretty much let my "NGO PROMISE" suffer the same fate . Its not that i hadn't tried.I had looked up different NGO's but I just didn't feel confident enough to join ,nor did i feel i could whole heartedly support the various causes that they stood for .Its not that these NGO's weren't good .But I just couldn't see myself joining any one of them. Its like trying on a pair of jeans , the one's that fit your friend , aren't necessarily going to fit you ,no matter how perfect they look on your friend . Time had passed, and i joined college, life as i knew it became more hectic and demanding .I had almost given up hope on my "NGO promise" , when an old school friend of mine told me about "MAKE A DIFFERENCE(MAD)" . I loved the idead instantly when i heard it - teach underprivledged kids "english" ,two hours a week. All that "MAD" as a organization asked for was your time and dedication , nothing else. It seemed perfect , just the right thing to fit smoothly into my schedule and as I loved teaching and especially working with kids it seemed like the "perfect NGO fit !" .The children that MAD targets ,already receive primary education, which might be in english or in the local regional language .But sadly even then we all know that in today's world ENGLISH is not a necessity but a wanted requirment to survive.MAD focusses on teaching ENGLISH , to kids ,so that these children can get good jobs ,and have a brighter future,be it any career they choose. In the weeks that followed I was interviewd by MAD , and when the call came for my conformation as a "MAD VOLENTEER" I was estatic. Its one of those moments I will always remember because for once ,I was not going to be chosen for my educational qualifications but for my personal qualities and dedication to a cause . After being choosen,I was then given my centre and the class of kids that I would be teaching , I like to call them "my kids" ,for the simple fact that they feel like family and my responsibility.I was even given a syallabus , containing the curriculum of the course we were supposed to teach . After the initial ice breaking session , classes started full swing . Now roughly 3 months from the time I was officially christianed a "MAD VOLUNTEER" the experience so far has been extremly 'life-changing' .Yes , I know it sounds like too dramatic word and exprience , and yet I can'nt think of any other word .I joined MAD thinking that I would be 'making a difference' in the lives that I touched , but its the other way round. Being with these kids has taught be so much about life and about myself. I feel blessed to lead the life that I have lead till now , the education that I have received and the family and friends that I have around me .Athought till recently I would cribb about my life and the pangs and aches of my world. Being at MAD has taught me to be thankful and to enjoy the small joy's of life .That everything does not have to be necessicarily large scale to enjoy and that to just be fortunate and grateful for the way things are . The children whome I teach ,have taught me how to get in touch with my inner 'kid' and how to have 'fun' again playing small make- believe games and running around each other. They have reminded me of yesteryears old school memories , which come in suprising flashes bringing back waves of nostalgia and bitter-sweet memories. But most importantly they have taught me to be grateful for the teachers that I have had and the dedication that they had.Which I never had fully acknowledged for now I have relealized what a huge task "teaching" is.How much effort and concentration is required to teach a class ,and to try and get the best out of them even when they are not interested! Also , i find myself using the methods ,my teachers once taught me with and I think thats the best tribute that I can give them in my own small way and thus MAKING A BIG DIFFERENCE!!

But in MAD, i usually take part in how they utilize it for the kids. Every time they hold a camp, which is basically a get together between children from different schools, there's a lot and lot of work, so I involve in helping them out with all that work. So all the effort placed into it, can be visualized and be made worth it by just seeing the smiles on their faces. All the activities organized, you see how it can help them. Every time, our efforts are mainly monetary but this time, its both, and you working yourself through is any day better than any cash contribution can make you feel. This organization was concieved by Jithin and two of his friends, which initiated with a humble begining. Unlike other college goers these guys used to devote their spare time and money in teachings and helping the little kids at orphanages in the locality. The organiztion took on lead with the active volunteering of other motivated youngsters who wanted to make a difference in the society. And thus the evolvement of 'MAD'. I have had the opportunity to interact with officials, volunteers and the students of the 'Make A Difference' family. I believe it is a great movement. It is the focus on education which took America ahead in the 20th century and I am sure emphasis on education can alter India significantly. The manner in which MAD has gone about this is very very professional - identifying a floating volunteer population who are really committed to the cause - the systems works very well. The volunteers are giving their time and knowledge for a cause, they are actually in the process of enabling the less privileged without looking for anything in return - to put in place a system like this and considering that this has been done by the young generation without any brand or money power backing them speaks volumes for MAD. The volunteers also benefit in the long run getting the opportunity to understand the social dynamics of the less privileged and get the big picture of the society clearer and better. The society at large also benefits considerably from this linkage between different socio-economic groups of youth as this would help the country and society move on an inclusive and peaceful development ahead. A great concept implemented in an excellent manner. Best wishes to 'MAD' Commander R Madhusoodanan, Corporate Trainer

I interact with members of MAD on a daily basis and have volunteered a few times in orphanages in Hyderabad(India). Make A Difference (MAD) doesn't provide funds to the underprivileged nor infrastructure for the homeless. It focuses on the core reason for long term development - Education. MAD does much more than just teach. It empowers! A MAD volunteer does not just impart subject knowledge but inculcates values, manners that go a long way in ensuring holistic development. Teaching kids in orphanages a simple "Please", "Thank you" in addition to computers and the internet is a start at forming a good personality. MAD's focus is simplistic and devoid of tall claims and unrealistic goals. They focus on what they do best - teach! and channel all their energy in this one area which in turn impacts a hundred others. The high energy atmosphere and whacky ideas during a MAD class session is infectious and inspiring. It brings out talent, creativity and a sense of self worth among the children not to mention the inexplicable satisfaction among us volunteers. Games, role-play interspersed with lessons on manners, etiquette and informative lessons on various subjects forms such a strong base for the development of a solid citizen. I find MAD's goals far reaching, their vision simple and their execution dynamic with a personal touch to it. They can be trusted and have a spotless record thanks to their foolproof system of accountability. "Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish, you feed him for life". MAD does exactly this.

Not a lame lie, but this organisation really hits the nail on the head. organised by young leaders maximum age of 20, their main aim is to teach children and that's what they do. every week 2 days for 2 hours orphan children are taught with a prescribed syllabus and training of the best sorts. run mainly by college students, the organisation is nothing to be taken lightly. Whatever the reason, the passion they possess is worth a salute. A passion to spread the knowledge they possess. Something maybe the most knowledgable fail to do.

I have been working with MAD for the last 6 months or so. The best thing about this organization is that the whole process it follows to provide education to underprivileged children is totally focussed on the children as such. Every need is looked upon through the eyes of the child. And another important thing is that the process followed by this organization is very streamlined and organized.

Although I have not worked personally as a volunteer, I have seen the dedication, enthusiasm and energy of the young people who volunteer to teach English to the poor students. MAD has filled a void for young people who would like to volunteer their services to helping the needy. It is important to help such an organization to grow so that more youth can participate in such activities in a society where we do not have many of these activities.

If you wish to change something ... start from the baseline ... get a grip from the ground level ... and then start implementing your plans ... from roots to the tips !!! People associated with M.A.D are doing just the same thing ... the right thing . They have taken stands to understand the requirements first and then start with their actions, providing a strong baseline support for the cause. The training sessions provides a strong understanding of the requirements for the kids and hence makes volunteers to work in a well directed manner. A very well managed organisation .... with insufficient funds for the cause !!!

My first interaction with MAD started when they were starting out their chapter in Hyderabad, AP, India. I was asked to help out with recruiting volunteers who could lead the effort in this city. Having done several interviews for the company I work for, I was pleasantly surprised to see the guidelines laid out by the organization when selecting the candidates. This was one organization which had no qualms in going without volunteers rather than recruiting a bunch of non-committed ones (a rare sight for an NGO, coz most of them are trying to increase just their volunteer base). The quality volunteers (most of them young eager guns !!) is what makes this organization stand out among others. I salute the spirit of these volunteers and with MAD in their hand/head/hearts, this organization future looks bright and ready to scale new heights :). These people are completely MAD about making a true difference in the society.

They certainly are making a huge difference not only in the lives of those whom they help, but also difference is seen in the lives of those who help them- by way of their experience(s). The not only help the child in their study but recognize their strong points outside the book syllabus and then help them in that field, so that they excel in things they love doing and thus helping them better at those things.

Their goals r very specific and impliments them with precision so that not only the target group but also the volunteers r also benifited.........In nut shell "Giving back a little to the society what we have taken from it" No doubt years to come the MAD will crave out a distinct place in the history of the youths of this counrty.......

Make a difference is an organization which is one of a kind....This few lines that i'm writin won't b enough to express the novel cause dat MAD stands for.. MAD has changed the lives of not only the children it helps out... but also the volunteers themselves... Children who we meet every week look upto us but the truth is dat even the volunteers have reasons to look upto these children which had made us realize the responsibility that hangs over the shoulder of each n every volunteer... One incident dat comes to mind is when we distributed pens as prizes to the children for a particular game the first thing that the wanted to b written with the pen was the volunteers name and phone number.... Surely MAD has MADE A BIG BIG BIG DIFFERENCE

the thing about MAD unlike any other organisation is that they are full of youth. and thats what every NGO needs. and they aint short of any enthusiasm... i heard bout MAD last year from a friend at work. later this year MAD had already landed in my city and there were kids piling all over the auditions in trivandrum. honestly i joined up coz i basically had nothing more important to do with my life. i went to the audition hoping to waste another boring weekend. but one thing led to another and next thing i knew i was working as a MAD volunteer in a childrens home surrounded by uncontrollable children to whom i seemed like the giant who wanted to invade jack's beanstalk. trust me i hated that day. but as days went by i grew attached to these kids, everytime they learnt a word in english or learnt somthing new i had this huge sense of satisfaction that i have achieved somthing meaningful in my life. these children have a lotta passion and commitment in their lives that i just realised what are the things i am looking for in life. the experience so far here has been amazing. i have been through a lotta bad stuff in my life and i nearly gave up hope in life. but these kids have made me change to a whole new perspective of life.so if u ask me is i can make a diff with MAD.... u bet i can!

I have been a volunteer/teacher with MAD in Mumbai. The two hours I spent with the kids in my first and only class were certainly one the most moving and happiest times in my life. A child's touch and smile certainly moves one's inner soul. In a country where more than 40% of the population are illiterate; most of this comprising of children - MAD gives the children hope and a chance to lead a bright future. The children that MAD teaches are spread over in 9 towns (2 more coming up), in mostly schools aligned with orphanages. The teaching follows a structured course prepared by Ez Vidya divided into four modules. To end this piece, I would like to say that MAD is an organization unique in its own right. I MAD - "I Make A Difference" (www.MakeADiff.in) This is my email signature. I've been MAD for sometime now. What I really love about MAD is that the people are very young. And, young minds are Making A Difference with fresh thoughts each day. The volunteers would age between 17 and 24. I've not seen many kids of that age in my society, so enthusiastic about making a difference. MAD makes it very easy for them - they don't need to be donors to be volunteers. All they give is two hours of their time every week to share the knowledge they have received, the knowledge that they could afford to pay and learn from school but the children in our orphanage homes couldn't. Also, when you're young, the common idea is that you're not rich or powerful enough to go help the world. MAD is changing the situation around and provides youngsters an avenue to stretch a helping hand. It's true - "It's good to make someone smile, and it's even better to be the reason for that smile." Make someone smile and Make A Difference!

When the members of the core team of madd came to my college for thier screening i thought that i could join such an organisation. My goal being, just joining anything at that moment because college did not seem to be so interesting. I filled the form, went for my personal interation with the core team and finally got selected. When i went for my first class and interacted with those children i realised how wonderful it is that nobody needs to wait for a single moment before starting to improve the world. The happiness of teaching, the satisfaction that i got after taking my very own class was an experience in itself. i realised i was never so content in life. I strongly believe that this is the true joy in life - being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; being a force of nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. MADD has not only changed my thinking but also made me a different person alltogether. The bottom line lies in the fact that the difference between a helping hand and an outstretched palm is a twist of the wrist, so i would like to thank the madd famaily who taught me how i could actually make a difference.

WE HAVE TO JUST TEACH THE BASICS OF ENGLISH...ALPHABETS...SENTENCE FORMING...ETC.....BUT AFTER THE FIRST CLASS I REALISED THAT TEACHING IS MORE DIFFICULT THAN LEARNING….!!!!I ALSO REALISED THE SIGNIFICANT OF A TEACHER. WHAT MAD HAS GIVEN TO ME IS MUCH MORE THAN WHAT I HAVE GIVEN TO MAD…. I AM REALLY HAPPY THAT I AM ALSO “MAKING A DIFFERENCE”…….

I heard about MAD from my friend who works as a volunteer in this organisation. Basically it is a group of volunteers teaching English to kids in orphanages. Most of the volunteers are young professionals and students. The first thing that came to my mind when I heard about MAD was the much used but hardly practised proverb ‘Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime’. Unlike most of us who donate money to charity these young people are giving something more precious and lasting like education. Apart from teaching kids get role models and the opportunity to interact with people who have a different outlook towards learning. MAD has brought a big change in my friend’s life. Working with kids has made her appreciate the things which she had taken for granted. Both the volunteers and children are benefitting from this initiative. There are so many problems facing our world. Environmental changes to food scarcity the list is endless. We need to find creative ways to find solution to these problems. I think MAD has found such a solution.

Have you watched 'Yes Man'? Awesome movie aint it? Well, i so loved the concept behind the movie, that from that day onwards, i began saying yes to things i was 51% interested in. Thats when MAD happened to me. I really liked the idea of teaching good english to the under priviliged, but i didn't know if i'd be able to handle them, somehow my 'Yes' side, thanks to Jim Carrey, convinced myself into committing myself towards the cause. After having spent 5 sessions with the kids, its been pretty fun. To be honest, i joined MAD primarily to teach good english to the under proviliged and secondarily to spend time with kids. And its nice to say that to some extent i've achieved both. The children do enjoy our company and the teaching, but they can be extremely naughty and it does get irritating at times, but i know one day they'll all turn into angels and till then i'll keep teaching and keep making compromises (hopefully not much!)

You realize how much they are actually missing only when you get to know them. The fact that i am helping them learn makes me happy as well.I would be wrong if I say that this has been only about giving. I have learned and gained so much from them and the NGO. Make a Difference or MAD should I say. I don't know all the people associated with it, but the ones I know, are amazing. And they truly are working hard to make MAD huge and successful. When they work with little kids, you have to give them credit. How beautifully have they devoted their time and space without expecting anything in return. It isn't just a normal "NGO". Its more that that. Beyond that. I'd often see photos of their workshops. They truly give you the feeling that yes, it is something which I want to do. MAD, not only, is helping poor and underprivileged kids, but also driving awareness amongst people to do for people who aren't that blessed. But who have special talent which needs to be taken care of. GO MAD!!!!

My experience with MAD was lived through a good friend. After an initial lack of understanding I realised that they did what was actually basic & necessary, i.e educate. It made me curious about the ways I could help,& sustained my interest in the activities. What with the innovative ways & the informal but systematic imparting of knowledge, it is definitely going in the right direction. The targets being belligerent children & the targetters being equally head-strong volunteers, the stories of paper rockets flying in between classes & even human missiles roaring around the room & a mammoth effort to get them back in place makes interesting listening. The one thing that this organisation is doing is teaching them how to fish instead of buying them fish. It's easy to see why the results will take some time, after all, there's a saying about fruitful patience isn't there? Cheers to you guys !!

i learnt about M.A.D through a friend who teaches in it.She ha this hectic work schedule as she works in this corporate firm.what amazes me is the fact that in amidst all this she goes and teaches in this NGO and actually enjoys it-so i realized that there must be something about it that keeps her and many like her coming every week without fail-to the extent that many even give up there valuable weekends for it.so finally i decided since im still in college and have enough time at hand i might as well join it.After all one hour a WEEK is hardly anything. The day i joined M.A.D was the day my life changed.Teaching these children has been the MOST rewarding and empowering moment of my life. The fact that i am able to teach these kids and in that process become their friend and actually influence them in some form or the other has truly been the most humbling experience of my life.Helping these children maked everything else-job,money,career etc seem secondary. Since this is a complete student run organization it makes it all the more special-to see young college people so involved in social work. The one thing that truly appeals to me is the fact that M.A.D only focuses on educating these under-privileged kids and that i think is the most important thing a child needs today. We all keep talking about how there are all these people in india who are poor and illiterate, and how we keep blaming our goverment and politicians etc for it.Well M.A.D gave me a chance to take things in my own hands.even if 1 child out of all these children is able to get a proper education 10 years from now-it will mean the world to me.

But most of them end up in automobile workshops, do ITI or even end their studies by tenth. Enhancing communication skills, improving verbal intelligence, mentoring, dispelling the English-o-phobia, are the ways we chose to "Make a difference". "It may be those who dream most, do most" MAD is all about a dream.Being best friends with some of the spear-heads of this dream, has driven me MAD! And I dont regret it. The personal involvement of each volunteer, the heart warming stories they share of individual children they have come across in the program and the sheer passion with which they go about making a difference talks about MAD's commitment to that dream. Starting with a bunch of college kids, how this organisation has spread allover India and in such a short time is a testament to their vision. What I like best is their superb organisational hierarchy and management skills with which they ensure maximum efficiency and productivity from their volunteers. Making a difference is a serious business! They also make it easy for absolutely anyone to pitch in,no matter which corner of the world they are sitting in. If MAD warms your heart, you can help! Kudos to their entire team, Hope they can shine the light of knowledge in a lotmore childrens' lives.

Though i have not directly worked with MAD, many of my friends and acquaintances are. It is highly commendable that youngsters (mostly college going students) actually take so much of time off and working with absolute determination for a cause such as this. These youngsters have achieved and will achieve a lot. Education is the key to our country's future. MAD is going to go places, achieve a lot and strengthen our nation's future.

A vibrant team of youngsters with a social mission. Nothing can dilute their enthusiasm and passion to serve the lesser gods of their generation. Had been to a camp organised for the children of MAD's associate orphanages. Was truly humbled to see how all of them laughed, interacted and had a great evening. Touched by the display of love and affection the children shared with every member of MAD. Sure it wasn't just about being grateful for providing a great evening. It was surely about a life-long relationship, an intense feeling, for enabling their lives to face the world outside of their orphanages. The team has all qualities required to take MAD to greater heights. However they badly require funding to support their dreams. But they are also against crass commercialisation of this noble endeavour exploiting the children. The team is very protective of the childrens' dignity. To me it gives all the more reason for any genuine individual/corporate who wants to support a real cause, not being bothered about any donor publicity. Perhaps it is also the reason why MAD is still unable to find a suitable donor. I'm convinced to become a member of MAD, don't know when. Not sure if I can match the commitment and dedication they demand from a MAD member.

I have never bothered much to hear what MAD is all about until my sister joined it and all she could talk about was MAD and when i finally learnt what they did and stood for, i was awed. I joined Make A Difference when i was in 11th standard. Truly speaking, my experience with MAD was really an eye-opener. Born in all luxuries, many of us fail to see what the outer world really is. The world beyond our sweet little home, the world where other kids of our age have to struggle to reach somewhere in life. It was shocking to see that many of them are deprived of opportunities merely because of the lack of knowledge of a language - English. But MAD is more than just english teaching. I would describe it as an organisation "by the youth and for the youth".

For eg, training programs for volunteers, database, and specific duties all chalked out... it runs like a corporate organization... everything well executed and planned. In midst of all the organizing, its hard to blv that there is so much time for fun. The volunteers bring in so much to their classes, and their dedication to students outshines any school i know. I think MAD is an awesome place to start with if you want to change the world...all the best!

This great, noble & social venture of educating the under-previliged childern ,undertaken by . Even in this period, where India as a republic is becoming prominent among other world nations, still majority of the children are under-previliged & are unable to taste the fruits of education. It is high time for us, the educated youth to provide something fruitful ,in return to the society, who made us what we are now. I really apperciate the noble hands behind MAD programme, & for the many good services already undertaken by them. I wish the MAD programme all the very best for their futute programmes....

I came to know about M.A.D through Hindu Metro Plus last year, when the team bagged an award for social entrepreneurship. I felt it is really a wonderful initiative from the young generation, which enables the less fortunate people to dream big! Most of the kids that M.A.D. teach are educated in regional languages till Class X and their skills in English are really bad. This results them in ending up doing menial jobs. This is where the need for skills in English comes in, and M.A.D comes in to the picture and a whole new world is opened to these kids with more wonderful options! Long Live M. A. D. !!! :)

A few people are bold enough to take the step to Make a Difference. My association with MAD started with a passion to work for the betterment of the society and the organizations passion was in line with mine. Right from the very first day, MAD’s activities have managed to create a pool of talented young volunteers with a clear vision and task. This has helped them narrow in on the requirements of the various groups and cater to their needs. Thanks to MAD’s initiatives, those of us willing to work for the society now have an organization that can show us the right path and the right attitude. Here’s wishing everyone at MAD – a heartfelt gratitude for Making a Difference.

I'm Center Head of Matru Seva Sangh, Nagpur, which has 55 physically disabled kids. About 25 volunteers come to teach on weekends. It amazing to see how these kids defy odds. Teaching these kids is a big challenge. Because these kids are physically disable, we cannot use conventional techniques like class room games to make teaching interesting. We have to take care that these kids do not shy away or feel insulted while teaching. We try to keep our techniques as simple as possible.

If one really wants to give back to the society and lend a helping hand, then please be a part of this well thought and operated youth organisation where we teach the underprivilege children English and computers in the most innovative way possible within a time frame. Being with Make A Difference ( one of the best decisions of my life ) has been truly enriching. The thought of meeting the kids, playing with them, helping them out, teaching them new things excites me........and today I can say I AM MAKING A DIFFERENCE..WE ARE MAD..We need self motivated volunteers who can take this to another level.
