I started the Boys Village Truth Commission (BVTC) to expose how this happened so that it can not happen again. I found out about the lawsuit a couple weeks ago and the horror of what happened there is keeping me awake at night. Elders from that time need an opportunity to tell what they know. Victims are owed recompense or at the very least a public apology for the profound failure of the church to keep them safe. According to a news article I found, pedo Warren Connolly modeled BV after Father Flanagan's Boystown which we now know was trafficking teens. I want to know-- was BV trafficking these young children? WHY was it allowed to stay open when (according to the lawsuit) the assaults were clear on the police blotter? I live near there and know that if this history is erased, we as a community lose a valuable opportunity to learn from the terribly tragic mistakes of the past. I worked for this non profit. As a disabled, lgbtq person, I was bullied and discriminated against. When it was brought to the attention of the director of operations, he enabled more bullying and joined in. I addressed it all head on with HR, who proceeded to fire me when I directly named the manager. I also witnessed abuse of mentally disabled workers. If you're looking to donate, please don't give to this establishment. They need to be investigated and the disabled workers need help. They abuse and bully people with smiles on their faces. It's absolutely heartbreaking and they should not be on this list.

The Max Foundation is building health equity one patient at a time. They have done so for +25 years successfully!

The staff and volunteers at Cancer Pathways are unbelievably supportive and welcoming. They cheer you on, lend support when needed, and make you feel part of an amazing community. I feel so at home here!

They talk a good talk, but it's a horrible place internally. Out of 100 employees, more than half are managers/directors, with not enough people to actually do the work. Hourly employees are forced to work unpaid overtime off the clock every week, while managers take extended leave and disappear for months at a time. Extremely caustic inter-departmental relations. Employees here are forbidden from talking to HR about their managers, though HR is well aware of all of this.

The Director is a terrible power-hungry man that has no business running a nonprofit as he does not care about the people in the community he serves in my opinion. The president Joe is a really amazing human I just wish that his philosophies and work ethic were mirrored in the person that actually does the day-to-day running of this organization. The Director is a cruel person from my personal experience.

SCM is amazing. It gives me the chance to help load containers with medical equipment and supplies. I can bring my daughter to help load too -- and to teach her how to be a better citizen of the world. I know that SCM is getting every single supply and dollar donated to people who need it the most: to refugees in Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. I have known Rita, head of SCM, for 30 years, and no one has a bigger heart or a better ability to network and tap into everyone else's big hearts. She gets us donating supplies, she gets a truck driver to donate his time to bring his container and drive it to the port. She gets the container on a ship bound for Turkey. She gets someone to drive the container/truck to the border with Syria or to Lebanon or to Jordan. I don't how she does it, but she does. And I know people who have gone with her to the centers she has set up in Jordan ,and those people have helped to distribute the clothes and medical supplies and hand-knitted baby hats to the folks who need them and wear them. So I personally know that all the supplies I've loaded in Seattle have gone to people in need in the Middle East. No overhead, just the biggest hearts in the world. I love SCM.

Plymouth housing is a superb and efficient and compassionate organization . We’ve been donating since 2011. We seen money raised , buildings built And met tenants who came off the streets of Seattle . Paul Lambros CEO is a regional thought leader and expert . Wish they had 50 buildings and not 15. The constraint is not their model, it’s the lack of county and state funding to supply the care staff in the homes built and operated. The model is a superb private / public collaboration model. Proud to be a donor .

This organization has been key to bringing attention to and encouraging the visual art creativity by African American artists and artists of African descent from Seattle and other Pacific Northwest communities. Onyx boosts of having a network comprising over 350 artists and for having hosting the largest ever fine art exhibit in the Pacific Northwest for this category of artists. The Onyx organization operates a fine arts gallery, Gallery Onyx, downtown Seattle to showcase and offer for purchase current artistic creations to the public and serve as a cultural focus which provides evidence of the rich cultural diversity existent in the Pacific Northwest.

This Non-Profit does great work, especially its project with incarcerated women, bringing their stories to light, and light to their future.

My husband and I both donate financially and volunteer in Honduras almost every year. This organization works with PAG (Projecto Aldeo Global) Project Global village. This organization has an education portion supporting education expenses, tutoring, a for Christian spiritual formation and support. They also have micro-loan programs for business startup. There is also village development in areas though out this country. These projects include clean water projects, home construction, school and health service support. Very organized. Worthwhile to donate to this project to keep Hondurans happy and productive in their communities.

Growing up in the Pacific NW, winters were all about heading to the mountains to hit the ski slopes with friends and family. After all, the saving grace of endless days of rain and a childhood mantra was, "at least it's snowing in the mountains!" Enjoying all that the PNW offers at our fingertips always been a priority, but I wanted to find a way to give back and share that love of the outdoors with others.<br /><br />I discovered Outdoors for All about five years ago, and in the time since then, they have become one of the nearest and dearest nonprofits in my life. Their mission is to enrich the quality of life for children and adults with disability through outdoor recreation, and since their founding in 1979 have become a national leader in delivering adaptive and therapeutic recreation. Beyond skiing, they offer a wide variety of programs to over 2,400 children and adults with disabilities per year thanks to their amazing network of over 700 volunteers. Whether volunteering, hitting the slopes, or giving to their foundation each year, Outdoors for All feels like family and their success stories are simply incredible! That's why this #GivingTuesday, I'll be supporting @outdoorsforall.<br />

This food bank and emergency services center is a HUGE community asset! The staff are working their tails off to make sure that the food banks are welcoming, well stocked, and as accessible as possible. 10/10 will volunteer and donate again.

COLAGE is the oldest and largest national organization for people with at least one or more LGBT parents in the country. For over 25 years, COLAGE has delivered highly impactful and quality programming nationwide (including Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Seattle, South Florida, and with a recent expansion in the South!), developed strong networks and a sense of community, and has activated a generation of young people who have become social agents that will change the world. I've known COLAGE for 7 years and have worked with this organization for nearly 5 and I couldn't be prouder of its work as the current Board President.

I got involved with Chief Seattle Club six years ago as a board member and it was an easy choice for me to make. There are a lot of different causes that are important to me though building community falls at the top of my list. Chief Seattle Club serves American Indian and Alaska Native people to provide hearty meals, clothing, healthcare and social services, showers, and laundry services on site. The Club also offers programs for members from computer training to art studio space. For many of our members, CSC is the only roof over their heads that they&rsquo;ll have for the day. This may sound similar to other day shelters you&rsquo;re familiar with, but beyond these (fantastic!) programs, Chief Seattle Club shines as a home away from home for the Native community. The services and programs and layout of the Club itself are designed to foster and honor Native culture and spirit. Our members represent more than 200 tribes from across the US and Canada, so family can be VERY far away. Many have shared that the collective membership at Chief Seattle Club feels like home. My family is a couple of hours away from Seattle and I really appreciate the comfort and familiarity I feel when I step in the doors of the Club. I&rsquo;m really proud to be involved with an organization that not only meets basic needs but takes the next step to provide a sense of home, belonging, and unity for Urban Native people. When we first learned about the Cuernavaca Children's Mission and the conditions the children in Mexico were facing and of the opportunity for us to be a part of the Sisters of St. Francis' ministry there, we felt inspired to help. By donating gifts that God has provided to us through His grace, we receive so much more in return. It brings us great joy to know that we are helping young people in Cuernavaca pursue an education that will open doors for them to follow their dreams. <br><br>Throughout this experience, the children we sponsor have sent us letters and photographs. To see their smiling faces and to hear of the successes they've had with the ministry is humbling to us. We are moved by the way these children show such motivation and are able to achieve so much despite having so few resources. It is clear to us that God's hand is at work when we see how fruitful this ministry has been. <br><br>As Catholics, we strive to live as Christ lived, and to answer His call to love one another. Self-sacrifice is at the heart of our faith, and it allows us to love others as Jesus loves us. This ministry has strengthened our personal mission to help those in need, and we are also able to pass on the value of charity to our children as a part of their faith education.

I have been involved with BBBS of Puget Sound for 8 years. I have enjoyed the support from the organization. I have had the pleasure of watching my "little" go from a shy 8 year old into a beautiful 16 year old. She has changed my life more than I have changed hers, but I am secretly going to take a little credit when she goes off to college, because "It takes a village" and I was lucky enough to be in her village thanks to Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

Chief Seattle Council discriminates against LGBT people in its hiring practices and service delivery, as widely reported in the news in the past couple years. It's public facing website is not current and its operations are currently below national standards for transparency.

Attended this camp during several summers in the mid 90's and was awesome. They held big events and provided fun coarses to take.I remeber in 97 a bunch of the councelors were caught smoking pot after hours and had to leave so this may have been one of the things that contributed to its demise. Was an amazing and important experience and is unfortunate it couldnt continue.

An amazing organization. My son has been in Cascades for 4 years now, every year gets better. I love the positive influences that surround him. After he ages out, he plans to volunteer at least a week every summer to help out. <br>The dedication, passion and spirit everyone (kids, staff, instructors) is inspiring.
