Complaint Regarding Unfair & Unsafe Practices in Extended Foster Care Housing Program: Im writing regarding the Foster Care housing program in Solano County CA specifically detailing unsafe & unfair business practices & government violations that occurred during my placement from April 2020 to 2021 My experience exposes significant failures in the system which have had severe impacts on my mental & physical wellbeing I a former foster youth was placed in the program under First Place For Youth FPFY during the COVID19 pandemic My roommate & I both Afr. Amer. faced numerous violations of our rights & safety during this time in FPFY Unsafe Living Conditions: Throughout the entirety of my placement my RM experienced domestic violence perpetrated by her BF His frequent presence in our apt created a hostile & dangerous environment The abuse was severe including physical violence verbal threats & property destruction Tvs were smashed twice & the front door was broken so severely that I had to crawl through a window to leave the apt My bedroom door was also broken leaving me unable to lock it & in constant fear for my safety Neglect by Program Staff: Staff at FPFY, the County Program Manager, CEO and multiple Youth Advocates and Education Liaison were fully aware of the abuse occurring in the Apt Despite my numerous reports & requests for intervention no effective action was taken to address the situation or provide any meaningful assistance Impact of the COVID19 Pandemic: The stay at home orders during the pandemic exacerbated the situation The inability to leave the unsafe environment & the unavailability of alternative placements trapped us in a cycle of fear & abuse This also mirrored traumatic experiences I had before entering foster care at age 13 compounding my distress Psychological & Emotional Consequences: The prolonged exposure to violence fear & neglect led to severe emotional & psychological trauma In 2022 I was diagnosed with PTSD by my Dr directly resulting from the unresolved abuse & neglect at FPFY The constant state of fear & isolation has had a lasting impact on my mental health & overall wellbeing Concerns of Racial Bias & Discrimination: Its significant to note that while my RM & I both Afr. Amer. endured these conditions none of the staff who worked with us were black All staff were either white or Hispanic & there appeared to be a lack of empathy & concern for the safety & wellbeing of their clients of color This raises concerns of unconscious bias & discrimination as repeated pleas for help were ignored potentially due to a lack of cultural understanding & compassion Failed Attempts to Resolve Issues: From 2020 to 2024 I made multiple attempts to file complaints & seek legal action against FPFY & its staff through the following channels: Foster Care Ombudsman: County & State, Community Care Licensing, Depart. Of HHS, EEOC, Victim Compensation Program, Vacaville PD, Legal Aid: Bay Area Legal Aid, Advokids, etc. Conclusion: The actions & inactions of FPFY & the related oversight bodies constitute a gross violation of my rights & safety The failure to provide a safe living coupled with the neglect of my complaints has caused lasting harm I urge you to investigate these practices & take appropriate action to ensure that no other foster youth endure the same treatment & that FPFY receives legal charges for Violations of the Foster Care Bill of Rights & litigation that results in the proper resistution for the direct harm they have caused as well as a formal apology <br> <br> <br> <br> <br>

I can't remember how I first heard of Catholic Charities of the Easy Bay in Oakland. I am so used to hearing about resources and then trying to get help and being turned away. Honestly, I thought that is what would happen. I met someone at a Jamba Juice and she mentioned this organization and told me that I should give them a call, that they had helped her out. Again, I thought it would be a waste of my time. I didn't have time to waste. We were facing losing our place to live and we have small children at home. I thought I would give it a try. I prayed about this and had others praying as well. We were getting desperate, as there was a For Rent sign being put up in front of our place. Catholic Charities did help my family. The person helping us was very loving and caring and went out of her way. We were helped twice and they even gave us bicycles for our kids. Our little one had been asking for a bike for awhile. What a blessing this organization and the person that helped us has been. Thank you for treating us with dignity and respect and helping us when we didn't know how we would make it. God is so good!!! and so is this organization!!!! I would urge anyone looking to help a charity, to help Catholic Charities of the East Bay. Thank you guys again so very much and may God truly Bless you, as you have us.

My firm has been a supporter of FVLC for years, recognizing the incredible work that they do. I have had the fortune of serving on the board for the past year and my admiration and respect for these amazing people has grown even more. FVLC provides a vital service to our community, with direct services to clients, as well as work educating the community, including work within schools. Their effective pivot to remote operations during this pandemic could serve as model to us all. I am so grateful our community has FVLC as a resource.

Over the past several years, the increased focus on the programs, management and success of residents has had remarkable results. The leadership team has responded to the range of challenges, stability and growth needed to make the mission of Elizabeth House a reality. I look forward to continuing my involvement with Elizabeth House and am confident that it is on a path to extend and expand its services to help more families.

If not for providing 3 meals and a bed, I would leave immediately if I wasn’t in a wheelchair. The shelter manager has GREAT delusions that she is queen that gets dead cats delivered to her and the Respite Manager lies repeatedly so get ready to get your hopes down. Sort of adds more anxiety to being homeless and you wake up every morning thinking is this the day they put me out and I don’t have anywhere to go?

I LOVE this organization!!! They install solar panels for low-income homeowners with the help of volunteers and job trainees. This provides triple benefit: (1) Helping the environment by reducing greenhouse gases (2) Helping low-income homeowners by giving access to renewable energy to those who are often most impacted by pollution, (3) Helping people interested in the solar industry acquire skills and thus train them for future jobs. This organization has installations throughout the state of California. I volunteered with the Fresno office (Central Valley), the staff was wonderful, patient, and knowledgeable. Very diverse and fun bunch of volunteers, I enjoy every day installing with GRID Alternatives and always look forward to the next. I am helping my community and at the same time helping myself.

After jumping through all the hoops and then filling their instructions to a “T” to have no response is unacceptable. To then reach out several more times leave messages more then six times because you desperately need help. Again, no reponle is unacceptable. To then research to find other social media platforms to try to reach out to them to find out why they are refusing to respond to then have the CEO on Facebook stage they will help you to call her the next day just let her DM you and she doesn’t is beyond my worst nightmare. I think this is a front, to help the CEO travel the world. Not to help women escape battered and traumatic experiences. Because if they did they would have responded to me and my friend who needed help in leaving California!

Terrible Service. I am very disappointed with their service. If you have medical insurance, this is not the place for you. This is mostly for people who got their health care through Medicare or other social programs <br> <br>Terrible Servicio. Si tienes seguro medico, este no es un lugar para ti. Me parece que no saben como ayudarte si no tienes una tarjeta de Medicare u otro programa social. Gente muy desagradable y majadera. Te tratan como si les pidieras su servicios gratis...

Just Cause/Causa Justa does excellent work in social justice. They are leading the struggle for justice and peace in our communities.

Rebuilding Together literally brings together numerous local congregations, civic groups, businesses, and other volunteers to help members of the community who need significant home repairs that directly affect their comfort and safety. Many older residents lack the knowledge or resources to make these repairs, yet their home is their most valuable asset. Skilled team leaders plan the projects and insure that the work is done right and that volunteers (both skilled and unskilled) know their time was well-spent. As a volunteer coordinator for Kehilla Community Synagogue, it's been a pleasure to work in partnership with other congregations and to learn from our skilled team leaders.
