Mission: Since 1978, Family Violence Law Center (FVLC) has been working to create a safe environment and meaningful access to the justice system for families fleeing domestic violence in Alameda County. We believe that no person should be abused in any way, and that violence within a family has long-term damaging effects not only for victims and their children, but also for the community at large. To advance our mission of ending family violence in Alameda County, FVLC provides direct services to survivors and their children and advocates for change within the education, civil and criminal justice, and health care systems. We work closely with law enforcement, court staff, educators, health care workers, public agencies, and other community- and faith-based organizations to address gaps in the service-delivery system and ensure a coordinated community-wide response to family violence.

Target demographics: domestic violence and sexual assault survivors.

I have been privileged to be involved with FVLC for the past several years. They provide services to women at a critical point in their lives, when intervention and resources can make a world of difference. Domestic violence prevention and help is an area where there is a tremendous amount of need - and the staff at FVLC work above and beyond to provide services to thousands of women and children each year. The staff are a talented group, and I would recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone in need of assistance.
