this has been a very very horrible experience for me and my child! from the beginning to now that my time is coming to and end! this has really been a very awful experience for my family! when you k lw you're being violated and your force to deal with things just to have a place to live! they take advantage of families situations! where they think they are helping they truly hurting and causing major set backs! so much concerns and safety of my family has been ignored for yes! where my family has qualified for curtain services, we have been denied or just shut out from! since I've been in keeping families together I get denied services from other places because we are in this program, yet when it comes to getting the rue service my family needs and not just what ppl sit a a table and discuss is the right decision for my family! we still in the same situation.program is due to end for my family this year and everything I say gets over looked! like today! my family is in need of food and personal items! I was given a 25 dollar gift card and the prices of food is very high! smh! I truly think that this program needs to be lolled into! because how is it that some families can get taken shopping for exact needs and I just have to take whatever er they thi k is fit for my family! not understanding how companies aren't held accountable

BPFNA-Bautistas por la Paz helped me connect with other activists and I was able to offer practices from my Buddhist tradition related to meditation and breathing to help these activists take care of themselves so they could do their important work in the world in a more grounded and sustainable manner. It is a great organization that helps people renew themselves and feel connected and supported. Thank you BPFNA????????????

I have met extraordinary people through CMM. These people work in the most difficult of circumstances bringing hope to others in the form of wells, food, clothing, education and also freedom to people who were enslaved by others. It’s been truly amazing.

My partner is fighting for custody of her son here in Clinton, NC. Her step mom and dad are homophobic. We are trying so hard to get funds just to get us back in court. If anyone can help. We did start a go fund me page but nothing. I am just the step parent but I love that little boy more that anything. Thank you for your time

The JCC used to be great and the most recent CEO has really made many poor decisions that has ruined the culture and the product. He spent most of his tenure absent and then decided to eliminate the one executive who knew the product, cared about the staff, community and the members. Now that he is gone you should bring her back and allow her and your CFO to make the JCC great again. Staff needs and wants her. No one else can jump in. Better hurry up and get her back because so much is lost and no one , absolutely not one “senior director” at the JCC can be a leader. Obviously alot of puppets and over promotion

I came upon Derek Prince teachings on You Tube. Derek Prince has opened my heart and soul to the healing and the beginning in my personal deliverance. Derek's guidance/ teachings are profound and timeless. I have had a profound experience through his prayers. Thank you. I pray that many more can find the peace and love I have found through Derek Prince ministries.

Founded in 1993, CHARLOTTE BLUES SOCIETY (CBS) is dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the American Blues tradition through the presentation of concerts, forums, and educational programs in Charlotte and the surrounding areas.<br><br>We held a "Blues in the Schools" Program at NW School of the Arts in Charlotte for students and staff featuring Lipbone Redding in 2019. Past artists participating in our "Blues in the Schools" in Charlotte include Joe Bonamassa and Keb' Mo'. More events are being planned for 2020. <br><br>We are sponsoring a Youth Blues Group to attend the International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis TN in January 2020. The group is "Crank Sinatra" , five young men ages 14-18 and really talented! They performed at the October Blues Band Challenge to the members and guests at the event and received rave reviews! A video of their October 2019 performance at the CBS event is below. <br><br>Representing CBS in 2020 at the IBC in the Band Challenge is a new local Charlotte blues group, Chad Harris and The Blue Herons. Their performance at the band challenge on October 6 2019 is below<br><br>Earlier this year, Jake Haldenvang represented CBS at the IBC in January 2019 in the solo/duo category. He won the Solo/Duo Challenge in 2018. In 2009 at the age of 12, he represented CBS in the Youth Group at the IBC. We have watched and supported his He is now on "The Voice" (Season 17) <br><br>CBS books local, regional, national and international artists for our monthly meetings/events, held the first Sunday of the month Jan-June & Aug-Dec. Events are currently held at The Rabbit Hole, a venue in Charlotte, NC in the eclectic Plaza-Midwood area. 1801 Commonwealth Avenue. <br><br>CBS also has quarterly open blues jam sessions for anyone interested in taking the stage.<br><br>The group has memberships available, for single and families as well as bands. Our family looked forward to taking my grandson to the local community pre-school We visited the complex 6/20. The executive director stated she would let us know if he was accepted by mid to late July. We tried calling, let NUMEROUS message the entire summer. No response from anyone and no notice if he was or was not accepted. We finally reached someone the third week of August to find out he was not on their roster. This was the most unorganized place administrative wise we've ever dealt with! Luckily my grandson was accepted else where which under their poor communication was probably the best thing for our family. If they not able to even communicate with their applicants, I can't imagine how poorly their classrooms are ran. Do yourself a favor and just apply somewhere else!

Not many people can say that they have actually seen this program from beginning to current but I am proud to say that I have. Being the oldest son of the directors has nothing to do with it either. This program began from an idea that I had a long time ago. When I was 14, I was always helping friends study and help them with their homework. Most of my friends either didn't understand what the teacher's had taught or struggled to grasp the concepts because their was no one to help us get it. Because of the high standards that my mother set for me, by the time I was 14, I was already taking college level classes. I suggested one day that my mom and dad get some snacks for the people I was helping and my father offered to get some tables. The rest is history...

Incredible !!!!! I hawk came walking in my yard this morning with a broken wing. I called the Carolina Raptor Center to ask if there was something I could do. The man the answer the phone was very friendly and with 8 minutes a volunteer show it up at my door and drove the hawk to the hospital in Huntersville, NC. My respect do the this great organization and support volunteers. The world need more organizations like the Carolina Raptor Center.

My story starts out by me saying that I came here on behalf of my daughter passing away two-year ago. I stayed here for my other daughter she gotten custody of my grandchildren. So I decided to stay here IN Charlotte. But it's hard for me and my baby daughter to fine a apartment do to the fees u have to pay for each person. That's means ur not sure ur gonna get the apartment. We been homeless for the last two years. Living with other people. And trying to find a job and a place too rest our heads is very hard. So I'm just asking for a little help. Thanks and have a blessed day.

Dedicated musicians perform great music you cannot hear anywhere else in town. The Christmas concert in the historic St Mary's Chapel is a Charlotte tradition.

Over the top great humanitarian group that can always be counted on in so many ways impossible to count them all.

Recently I attended a JWCC business meeting which was very helpful in learning about this volunteer organization. My first impression of the club is they were very organized. I was greeted at their visitors table, given a packet of information and was warmly welcomed. The meeting itself was informative on upcoming projects, highlighted stories of recent accomplishments in the community and other information on upcoming volunteer opportunities. I liked how they also did a service project during the meeting in which we made toiletries goodie bags for the local battered woman’s shelter. My favorite part of the meeting was a guest speaker from Life Share of the Carolinas, a non-profit that specializes in organ donation awareness. I did not know many facts about organ donation and I found it very informative and appreciated the JWCC choice of speaker. Overall my experience was a positive one and I am looking forward to joining. C.W. - Charlotte, NC

My husband was sent to Carolina Rehab for a spine problem after surgery. I was at a loss where <br>to stay. I went to a hotel and it was expensive, noisy and I didn't even feel safe. A nurse told me <br>about the Hospitality House . I was blessed to be able to get in. I have stayed here three weeks. <br>Not only did I enjoy the safety and comfort of the Hospitality House but I was also able to save gas <br>money as I was able to walk right to the rehab center. <br>Often we had food donated by volunteers or someone working in the house. It was so nice to <br>come in and have a hot meal after staying at the hospital all day. <br>I would totally recommend the Hospitality House to anyone needing houses while staying with <br>someone in the hospital. <br>I am very thankful that I have had the opportunity to get to know the staff and people staying at <br>the Hospitality House. This organization has an interesting and select group of residents. Its Board of Directors is local and well known in the city of Charlotte. The social environment is high level . An increase in size and addition of a residential tower in 2004 has increased the population , brought more residents from areas outside of Charlotte and increased the cost of living in Southminster. It has close relationship, though not financial, to the Christ Church and Myers Park Baptist Church, the latter a leadership church with attention to social improvement and education. <br> <br>While Southminster has a general reputation for excellemt Health Care, it is actually behind contemporary care standards in facilities and approach. The Health Care Facility is the original one built in the 1970s. It is deficient in room size, private baths, and mixes dementia patients with Assisted Living and regular nursing care patients. It has had refurbishments over the years, but no renovation or updating. Southminster has a nursing service that provides outreach to residents in their apartment, which accomodates by service in the home for deficiencies in the Health Care facility.. <br> <br> <br>

BBN radio is a listener supported ministry of music and Bible messages that feed the soul. They squeeze every penny til it squeeks... :) The staff even help with the cleaning of the studios, etc. They are a caring group of men and women and I listen from the time I wake up until I go to bed. I'm not sure why you gave them such a low rating since they do not spend the money on themselves (low salaries - compared to the others I've checked) and most goes for the purpose for which given- to have radio stations around the world and on the internet. Free Bible Institute on line. Broadcasts in several languages. I would give them 5 stars!!!!! :)

This dance company is a great service to the community, both in teaching the arts and being faithful witnesses to Christ. Their programs are not only professional, but very entertaining and Christian-oriented. They work very hard to ensure quality of everything they teach and in all of their performances. I also understand they have outreach and volunteer at various churches and nursing homes throughout the area.

We've been involved with The Barnabas Center in various ways throughout the last 15 years. I say with great assurance that our marriage, our family, and the lives our our friends have been significantly shaped by this unique group of folks. In a world that promises quick fixes and 10 steps to a better everything, The Barnabas Center offers a deeper hope. A hope that is not dependent on changed situations... a hope that cannot be taken away. I consider it a great honor to support this ministry, and frequently refer others to both the proactive (training) and reactive (counseling) divisions.

My Husband and I are adoptive Parents. We chose Another Choice Adoption Agency because a co-worker spoke very highly of them. When we attended the information session, we made a real connection with Ms. Ruth Amerson and her staff right away. You see we had thought of adopting for a few years. This meeting provided us the details of the adoption process and the children waiting for families. We felt comfortable with the staff, they shared and answered all of our questions thoroughly. We signed up for the MAPP classes on that day. These classes are taught by highly qualified and skilled personnel. The curriculum is organized, helpful and gives you a reality check in understanding special needs children,their challenges and knowledge of how to deal with and get through it successfully. The Another Choice program is a hands on approach. About half way through the MAPP classes, we were so ready to adopt, but knew we had to complete the entire process which also included the required background checks, finger printing, home visits, personal references, etc.. The staff was encouraging throughout this process and followed up with us to make sure we completed everything within a timeline so as not to delay paper work processing, so that we could move forward and get closer to adopting our child. As we were going through the MAPP classes, the agency had us working on our family book and looking at profiles of "Waiting Children". We had already been looking at the NC Kids website frequently too. My Husband and I graduated the MAPP class and now we were waiting as the agency searched for a child for us. They continued to be supportive to us as we waited anxiously and had questions. They treated us like family even though we did not have a child yet, and again that hands on approach was beneficial. The day came when the agency notified us that they have identified a sibling group for of three for us. Yes, I said "siblings". Our plan was to adopt one child. The staff and Ms. Amerson always told us, "If you ask for one child you may get two, you ask for two, you may get 3, 4, 5. Ms. Amerson told us over the phone that these are our children and she knows that we are the parents they need. She felt very very sure that we would become a family. Even though she knew of our hesitation when I said, "but you said three children". She told us to come to the agency right away. I happened to be out of the country working at the time. Three days later my plane landed back home and we went to the agency. We had a few days to get our heads around this, talked about it and were open to looking into this because we trusted Ms. Amerson's experience, integrity, knowledge and passion for children and families. We went to the office and looked at the children's profiles. What an excellent match they had done for us. My Husband and I fell in love when we looked at their picture before we even read their profile, we knew that these were our kids. As we read their profile it became even more evident that yes, these are our kids. A visit was arranged for us to visit them in their foster home. We all made a connection pretty instant, spent a weekend together and cried when we had to leave. We assured the children that we would see them again soon and that we wanted to be their forever parents. Another Choice (Ms. Ruth) called us to hear how things went and to see if we had questions or concerns. Our only question was, "how soon can we get them home"? Another visit was arranged for the kids to come to our home. We had did the things suggested by the agency to help them feel comfortable in coming to see their new home; bedrooms setup, family outing planned, other family members to come meet them, etc.. The kids felt comfortable and safe too. We just loved them right away. In the coming months we fostered to adopt them. The adoption decree was granted and we became a permanent family. Another Choice Adoption Agency has continued to be very supportive and reaching out to our family. Even when we needed to reach out to them as a resource. They provide both pre and post adoptive services. This agency truly believes in finding loving families for children in foster care and they care about the family unit. Their post adoptive programs are very helpful; Kids Night Out Program has helped my kids feel normal (because they are), boosted their self esteem, helped them feel the permanency, develop social skills with other kids in their age group, reinforces to consistently follow rules given by adults, healthy competition and more; Girlz Talk where they along with others girls sit and talk with a licensed Therapist about girl stuff which helped them develop mentally and they gained positive social skills and feedback in a comfortable forum; Teen Program has helped my teen tremendously by showing her that she is worthy and to act appropriately rather than exibit unacceptable behaviors just to fit in with what she thought were popular clicks or groups; Sister to Sister is a program for Moms. We talk about things like balancing work and family, challenges with our kids and share experiences on how to deal with it. We go out to the movies, dinner, etc.. to treat ourselves, have fun and talk about stuff. This is a positive sisterhood resource provided by the agency. There are other post adoption programs like, DADS which my Husband has participated. We adopted 7 years ago and have been a happy family ever since. God has truly blessed us all with each other. I can't thank Another Choice Adoption Agency and Ms. Amerson enough for their professionalism, integrity, support and loyalty all these years. I highly recommend this agency if you are looking to adopt older, African American, or special needs children. May God continue to bless Another Choice in all the good work that they do to find families for the many children in foster care that are waiting.
