In today’s world, teens need healthy adults to come along side them and help them navigate these formative years!

I worked at this non-profit for 6 years. The glass ceiling is in full effect at this place which prevented me from reaching advancement. I was empowered just enough to stay under the upper hand. I would not recommend employment here to anyone who aspires to reach true empowerment.

I have been a business partner with Project DREAM since it's inception several years ago. DREAM stands for Developing Resiliency through Education, the Arts and Mentoring, and serves youth in the Twin Rivers Unified School District geographic footprint. This tends to be a low income, under-served population with many financial needs, and lack of resources. I've learned so much through my involvment with the Project: about children that have never been outside their immediate neighborhoods, never having experienced the ocean; about parents without family photos because they can't afford them; about homeless kids trying to make it into college; about children without warm clothes in winter, or the basic school supplies etc. Project DREAM works hard to keep these kids in school, excite them about getting an education and dreaming about their futures. The best testimonial to the work of this group is the dedication of the board members - Advisory and Executive. Most work in the area, and then dedicate their personal time to continuing to improve the lives of the children in the community by active participation in Project DREAM, including personal donations. This group believes they can make a difference in these children's lives and put their put up their own sweat and financial resources to create change. It has been awesome to see the smiles on the kids faces when jumping over a wave for the first time, experiencing the Tolerance Museum,learning to play the violin, or simply getting to attend a camp outside of their neighborhood. After reading the book "Blind Side" I am convinced these experiences make a differenc in a child's ability to maneauver in today's world.
