AWHC is a trusted, ethical, intelligent and strategic leader in the fight to keep our American wild horses and burros wild and free. They work tirelessly to educate the public and government(s) about the plight of our wild ones and how to best honor their history and preserve their freedoms with respect and humane care. They offer real solutions that will work for all involved, including the animals, and just need increased public support to continue the battles with litigation at the highest levels, scientific research, as well as boots on the ground with the horses and burros themselves. AWHC is an effective and proven leader in this space and I am so proud to be a donor, volunteer and all-around supporter of this great non-profit doing incredible work.

I love Yolo Diaper Bank. I have seen it grow from an idea to an organization providing diapers to families in need throughout Yolo County. Working with ComunniCare, Empower Yolo, and Woodland Personal Care Pantry to end diaper needs in Yolo County. Love their motto: Keeping Yolo County Dry One Bottom at a Time.

The WLFSA is a wonderful organization. I have been a fan of this non-profit since shortly after my husband had gastric bypass. The mission of this organization is to provide weight loss surgery to people who are morbidly obese at no cost, whether it is because they can’t afford it or their health insurance won’t pay for it. I have attended their conferences and volunteered for them and have seen firsthand the results of their efforts. An amazing group of caring individuals.

Davis Community Meals is open monday-friday, 8 am-12 pm. Sometimes they have donated bread or donuts past ira expiration date that cant be sold in stores. Stores donate expired food they cant sell for a tax deduction from the government. The food offered by Davis Community Meals is always expired. There are no actual meals, only packaged snacks and leftover plates from the shelter that have been uneaten for days or weeks. Sometimes the date on the container of cooked pasta says its 3 months old, so it may have been sitting in the fridge for months. One thing is for sure, staff cannot be trusted to behave morally. The staff do not care about the homeless and they often get in arguments and cause conflicts with the homeless guests. Staff are not kind, they pretend to be nice on the surface, but behind closed doors they gossip and insult the homeless. One of the paid staff members throws temper tantrums at the guests and threatens them and often bans them from services. They demand guests abide by their dictates made by fiat like an authoritarian or tyrant would, even when such demands are unreasonable. Staff never seems to amicably resolve issues but are eager to verbally and emotionally abuse homeless guests. The staff believes their institution comes before people and that the guests must serve the institution rather than the institution serving the people. There is no real community here, only low quality services and homeless people walking on eggshells hoping a staff member doesnt become irate and ban them from receiving any services. This day center is slightly better than nothing but not for the amount of donations and money they receive in funding. You can still eat expired food rather than nothing at all, which is a common theme at Davis Community Meals day center, take it or leave it, and I left it. They could be doing so much better with the donations they receive but they just dont care. They seem to only be there for their own paychecks. like many homeless service organizations in california, this is a business, those who give them funding are the customers and the homeless are the commodity to be used and sold to the government to benefit the program. This is also the reason why government spending billions of dollars doesnt end homelessness, because these organizations are more interested in serving themselves rather than the homeless and so the homeless dont receive real material help or advocacy.

Rescuing Mama will always be one of my life's most incredible and proudest moments. But her transition from living in the orchard to living with me at my home was difficult. Her whole world had been turned upside down, and she regressed. She was timid, shy, and very skeptical of humans. Although I had lots of experience rescuing dogs, I had no expertise in rehabilitating a dog with Mama's trust issues. But things began to improve once I connected with Julielani from Life Of Kai. Julie provided valuable insights into Mama's behavior and state of mind that I wouldn't have known or seen on my own. Mama spoke to me, and Life Of Kai taught me how to listen. Julie helped me see the world through Mama's eyes. Mama is happier now than she ever has been. The friendship between Mama and I continues to strengthen and grow, and Life Of Kai remains an essential of that process. I cannot thank Jul enough for playing such an important role in creating the unbreakable bond between Mama and me. <br> <br>-Danny

I have served on the board of Purple Tree Cafe since early 2019. I stay with it because Ilve seen first hand the positive effects it has had on its employees. The treats are delicious; the board and staff are friendly and hard working. I hope you will donate to support us.

This winter 40 individuals who would have been exposed to Covid-19 by being out in the weather, unhoused, are in apartments, with medical attention and hot food. One was widowed in October and lost her housing. Another a grandma, over 70, has diabetes and her insulin is delivered by a Communicare case manager. This is an excellent effort by the entire community to meet the needs of the underserved vulnerable members of Davis. I highly recommend this framework for other communities.

Myanmar is a truly mesmerizing emerging nation with so much potential to be unleashed. The children and youth of Myanmar play a significant role in building its future. I had an honor to travel to Myanmar recently and got to know the works of Myanmar Children's Foundation in the country. Truly a noble and impactful action in serving and ensuring children and youth pursue their goals in life.

I have worked with this non-profit for several years now. The work they do helping transitional foster youth move into independent living is not only unique, it is amazing! MIH provides the basic needs of youth transitioning from foster care to independent living. These needs include beds, linens, cookware, small appliances, dishes, glasses, silverware, even furniture! Things that most foster youth do not have, nor do they have the means to buy, often hindering their ability to transition successfully. I enthusiastically support this organization and encourage others to learn more about MIH and become involved in their activities!

The idea behind this organization is a good one, local governmental watch dog reporting. However, considering the organization is an information gathering and journalistic endeavor, there are major problems with the leadership in the organization. There is one major editor, who receives no oversight. In addition, articles written by interns are plagiarized, without their consent, knowledge, or attribution, and then used as op-ed pieces by the editor. This diminishes any informational integrity of the organization and its offerings--turning the entire operation into one man's blog, turned nonprofit.

Explorit Science Center is an amazing resource for families, schools, community groups and science lovers of all ages! From field trip programs for schools, to Girl Scout badge days and Family Science Nights, they've got a program for every group. Plus, their interactive museum exhibits showcased in a historic home encourage free thinking, problem solving, and multigenerational interaction. This place is wonderful!

I was a part of UCC's college group "Catalyst" for a long time. No matter what I did I was never good enough for the group. During my time at Catalyst I saw a lot of things I did not agree with. I did not approve with Matt Robbins promoting to college men how many women there are at Catalyst. I found this to be most inappropriate. Robins gave me a list of things I had to do to change myself. I did all that was asked. In the end I was still never good enough. I was even physically assaulted by another member of Catalyst. The Catalyst member who assaulted me was later on made a leader.

Faces of Tomorrow’s mission is to provide medical and surgical services to children with facial deformities around the world. This amazing group of volunteers is culturally responsive and compassionate to the patients, their families, and the communities in which the mission serves. <br> <br>Faces of Tomorrow utilizes a team of volunteer health professionals and skilled individuals to keep costs down and devote as much as 90 percent of all donations and funding to our patients. <br> <br>Because Faces of Tomorrow is small and unencumbered by a large bureaucracy they are able to perform surgeries for about $250 a patient. It is amazing to think that is takes so little to literally transform a life. When you repair a facial deformity you are giving the patient back their life. They are no longer an outcast instead they have the opportunity to lead a full life filled with smiles.

One member of leadership team claims affiliation with federal government, state government, hospitals, and higher education organizations. Their demeanor and attitude representing her place of business is poor and condescending. If you identify yourself as a professional from your place of business, you should always act accordingly! You are no longer you if you add in your professional status, but the organization in which you represent. If you claim affiliation with the government, hospitals you collaborate with and universities, then, please act as such.

I am now retired as the Founding Artistic Director of Acme Theatre Company. From the moment that a group of high school students gathered with me in my classroom to talk about founding a theatre company, there has always been one important goal: to empower youth through doing theatre together. For more than thirty years, this unique organization has served thousands of young people, giving them confidence through performing all the necessary tasks to take a full-scale theatre production from conception to production. Moreover, the company has had a long commitment to producing works by important playwrights from the Greeks to Shakespeare to Oscar Wilde to Bertolt Brecht toArthur Miller to moder playwrights such as Mary Zimmerman, Arthur Giron, Moises Kaufman, Sarah Ruhl, and Stephen Deitz. Every task, from acting to set construction to costuming to publicity, to front of the house activities are performed by young people of high school age. The older, more experienced members mentor the younger members so that the institutional memory is passed down from year to year and from decade to decade. The only adults involved are the non-profit board of directors, the artistic director, and the director of the production. Occasionally adult mentors, many of them graduates of the company, will provide instruction in such things as set and costume construction, playwriting, fight and dance choreography and so forth. It is also important to note that Acme has a history of producing high quality theatre, comparable to that of adult community and professional theatre. This is an organization run both for and by young people, my idea of a perfect youth empowerment model. If you read by through the reviews of the young people themselves, you will find that there is another aspect that is very important. For many of them, Acme provided a place where they could meet and come to know people with like interests. Many of the alumni will tell you that their Acme experience was the most important formative experience of their high school career, and this from young people who attended one of the top-rated high schools in California. Finally, Acme alumni are making their mark in many fields, and only of few of those are fields related to theatre. We do have our theatrical success stories: a member of the Blue Man Group, an award-winning playwright and director, the founder of the San Francisco Sketch Fest, a television producer and former executive vice president at Disney Pictures, a professional fight choreographer in New York, and so forth. However, in other fields, there are equally successful Acme alumni, who give great credit to the self-confidence that their experience with the company built in them. Among these are a Legislative Director with the California State Legislature, a Vice-President of Energy Solutions, a sustainable energy consulting firm, The Special Projects Manager at American Museum of Natural History, a free-lance designer of Museum exhibits around the world, the co-founder of several health/medical companies, a published children's book author, and many doctors, teachers, lawyers, business people, and so forth. Add to that that many of our alumni are building happy families with young children, some of them now in Acme, and you have a youth-empowerment organization with history and longevity that continues to make a mark on our community and on the world. I am indeed proud to have been a part of Acme Theatre Company.

NorCal Boxer Rescue is an all volunteer Boxer rescue group that operates in Northern California and in Texes. They have created a network of volunteers that are spread out throughout the region using foster homes. They locate, assess adoptability and rescue Boxers from shelters, especially from rural facilities with high kill rates; as well as providing a resource for current Boxer owners who can no longer provide a home for their pet. NCBR provides medical care (including spay and neuter), microchipping, temperment testing, basic training and continued support and advise to clients who adopt. Volunteers transport dogs between medical facilitlies, provide care and foster them until they find their forever loving homes. Almost all of the their donations pays for medical care. <br> <br>NCBR makes a lifetime commitment to each Boxer rescued. I have developed a love for the breed and started as a financial donor to the organization. NCBR's commitment to their mission and their integrity as a volunteer run organization has also motivated me to become a volunteer foster family and surely somday a client.
