Heaven on earth! Such a beautiful, serene sanctuary for these precious equines. I've had the pleasure of a tour with Mary Adams a few years ago and it thoroughly did my heart good. <br>May any bad memories fade away as they sun and run and graze and laze the rest of their lives in the quietude and peace of such a beautiful place. <br>Thank you Mary and the staff and volunteers for all that you do for these sweet souls in giving them a calm and a safe space. <br> <br>Sincerely, <br>Whitney Ward

I would like to thank the Foothill’s Humane Society and their amazing, knowledgeable staff. Last week I called to see if I could foster a dog for 5 days while my 12 year old granddaughter was visiting with me. I wanted to teach my granddaughter a few lessons and with the help of the staff at Foothill’s it worked out amazing. They showed us several puppies and dogs that would match up well with our needs. My granddaughter chose Pamela an 8 month old Labrador mix. Beautiful girl, gentle, house trained, no barking, great with children and other dogs. ( I really wish we could have kept her!) I was able to use the puppy to teach my granddaughter lessons that she could apply to her life but in a fun way. Example of one of the lessons: She wanted the puppy to go into the doggie crate to sleep for the night ( crate was supplied by the Foothill’s Humane Society, plus food, blanket, collar, leash and toys). She was frustrated because the puppy wanted to stay outside of the cage with her and she wanted to put the puppy to bed for the night and be safe in the crate. Lesson #1 I told her that is how her parents feel when they are trying to keep her safe and doing what is best for her and that she should appreciate that she is so loved and cared for ( and shouldn’t talk back to her parents). I asked her how she could solve this problem and she said “ I’m going into the crate with her” so she did and the puppy happily followed. After the puppy relaxed in the crate my granddaughter crawled out. She felt good that she had solved the problem and hopefully learned something too! It was a wonderful 5 day’s with the dog and we are so thankful for the Humane Society to allow us this opportunity. The puppy, Pamela, had a great time ( tail was always wagging! We called her wiggle butt) and my granddaughter loved the experience! I would truly recommend that people foster a dog for any amount of time that they can it will bless your own heart and the dog as well ?????? Thank you so much Foothill’s ! You are Fabulous!! ❤️

Wonderful group to work with! They all go above and beyond to help people who need a safe place to go.

The Laurel Lake Music Society supports music education and scholarships for high school students in the local area. It also provides grants to local high school music teachers for their supplies. Additionally, it provides entertainment for the residents of Tryon Estates Retirement Life Community and is totally supported through donations by those residents. Scholarships are provided so high school students who qualify may attend the Cannon Music Camp in Boone, NC each summer. Those students who have attended, and their teachers, have praised the scholarship program and the quality of instruction offered at the Cannon Music Camp. All officers and Board Members of the Laurel Lake Music Society are unpaid volunteers.
