Our family has been visiting the sanctuary for years. We always stay at one of the cabins which are always so clean and well kept, we love all the fun little extras like games available, and sunset around the fire listening to the howls is a must!! The tours are so informative and you can really tell how much the people care about the animals, and vise versa ?????? I adopted a BLM mustang from Ruby Ranch several years ago. I was looking for a horse to do casual trail riding and had been looking for some time. I actually went previously to see a different horse, but Pat and Roger were more interested about matching the right person with the right horse than just adopting one out to get rid of it. It turned out we were not a good match for the first horse we looked at and kept searching until we found Freddie ( now Ajax). They were very honest about what they did and did not know about this horse and it's abilities. After spending time working in their round pen with Ajax, we felt that this gelding was a better match and adopted him. Their contract was straight forward and they stressed how they wanted to make sure that the horses they adopt out have forever homes and that if anything were to happen in the future where we could not take care of him, we were to return him to their care and possession. I have had many other contacts with RRHR over the years since we adopted Ajax ( who we still have) and they are very committed to their cause and doing what is best for the horse, even when that means making difficult decisions. Please consider checking them out if you are looking for a horse. Even if you are not looking to purchase a horse, they are in great need of donations and I try and donate to them when I can. I am thankful that Pat and Roger put themselves out into the sometime thankless world to help animals who cannot speak for themselves.
