As a direct beneficiary of their many programs, I can give only one piece of advice: If you get the chance to become a GEM fellow - take it! How GEM helped me: 1. Access: Gained hands-on research experience at a national lab. 2. Tools: Used NSF I-Corps customer discovery techniques through GEM I-4. 3. Launch: Access to a network of industry and academic leaders that helped me launch my tech startup! Reflecting on my experience as a 2018 GEM fellow, it's clear the National GEM Consortium was the ace up my sleeve. Working with Oak Ridge National Laboratory was just the beginning of my journey. I was property manager at one of their properties in Wichita, KS and my experience was HORRIBLE. They do not take care of their tenants at all. There was black and green mold in apartments, a disgusting roach infestation, feces and boogers smeared all over your hallway walls in the buildings. I was actually fired because I was trying to help the tenants with these ongoing issues that have been ignored. I was fired because I was focused on helping the current tenants and refusing to rent out apartments that had roaches and mold in them. They prey on the low income and their section 8 because they know these people have very limited options on housing. Where does all this money go that is donated? I am 100% sure they are not using it to fix anything or help their current tenants. These people are money hungry. The property management company they hired to manage their properties are slumlords. It's disgusting. Please do your research before donating to these people. Read the reviews.

Janet Ayers, coordinator, coerces victims like Martin into sexual activities using bribes, promises, and threats of jail, abducting him to harm his girlfriend Julie, who has already been abused. Martin is in love with Julie, spends much time with her, and was seen with her last night. He id in love with Julie and fears for her life by Janet. He fears and hates Janet, finds her repulsive, ugly and knows she may abduct or blackmail him to harm Julie as before. Micah's case manager, lost her license due to misconduct. Supervisors Meghann Coother and Marjie cover up these crimes. Great Nonprofit must protect victims and expose Micah Ministry. Janet will only give apartment to Martin if he gets rid of Julie his girlfriend. Also she has kept his clothes in her house to force him to have sex with her. Martin is a degenerate vulnerable homeless who just came ou of jail

I've worked with MATHCOUNTS as a communications coordinator at the National Office and as a volunteer at the NoVa Chapter Competition for the last two years. My experience with this organization has been exceptional--the staff and volunteers care immensely about the students and giving them the best experience possible. The alumni I have interviewed share fond memories of their time as Mathletes and often credit the program for encouraging their love for math and pushing them to continue developing their math and critical-thinking skills into adulthood. I'm proud to be a part of the MATHCOUNTS community and hope to continue my involvement for years to come!

PIYUSH GUPTA, Secretary and Principal Executive Officer was recipient of USD2500 LEAD GRANT INDIA for 2023, 2024 on behalf of CANCER AID SOCIETY and jointly with NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PALLIATIVE CARE FOR AYUSH AND INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE we prepared the Palliative Care Declaration having for Advocacy and Awareness having Call for Action which was released by Her Excellency Smt. Anandiben Patel, Honourable Governor of Uttar Pradesh India. This was endorsed by thousands of Professionals as well as Institutions worth lakhs of people and many more Conferences, Workshops, Rallies, Lectures, Educational Programs etc. were organised across India. Our heart thanks to IAHPC and best wishes to continue the humane service of promoting Palliative Care Globally which is mostly missing.

This group of singers are extraordinary. There were over 100 performers who left us wanting more after two hours! There was a pianist, upright bass, drums and 100 singers! The beginning started with a "California Dreamin' medley." It was if it was the Mama's and the Papa's times 25! The harmonies were perfect. Hard to believe that it got better and better as the afternoon moved on. I believe no one was paid anything. This is a non-profit to support. I do not want to wait until Christmas to hear this greup again. Please schedule something sooner! ...How did the Music Director of this group do this!

I've been a donor and volunteer at Alexandria Tutoring for the last five years. The help teach K, First and Second graders in the Alexandria public school system to read. One thing I like as a donor is that they keep you up to date each year on how well the kids are doing. (Generally 85%+ make it to grade level.) They are also good about letting you know how much of your donations go to the program (~90%).<br><br>I can't recommend them more highly.

My sophmore daughter attended the CloseUp 2025 Inauguration Trip to Washington DC. What an unforgettable experience. I'm so happy this opportunity was made available to her high school (and her friend asked her to go!) . She loved every minute - from the beautful hotel, meeting new friends from around the country to visiting monuments, memorials and a private tour at the US Capitol, it was an amazing and unforgettable experience. I highly reccomend CloseUp and their list of tour guide educators. Only request would be to have a case of water in each hotel room, as my daughter probably spent $100 in water at the hotel gift shop. Trip of a lifetime!

As someone with a family history of diabetes, and knowing children born with this challenging condition, I'm deeply grateful for the work of organizations like the American Diabetes Association (ADA). It's truly heartwarming to know there's a dedicated group working tirelessly towards a cure while also providing crucial support and resources to those living with diabetes every day. <br> <br>Diabetes is a complex disease that affects millions, and seeing children diagnosed at such a young age is particularly difficult. Knowing that the ADA is actively pursuing research for a cure gives me hope for a future where no one has to suffer from this condition. <br> <br>Beyond the search for a cure, the ADA plays a vital role in providing education, resources, and support to individuals and families affected by diabetes. This includes everything from information on managing blood sugar levels and healthy eating to support groups and advocacy efforts. This comprehensive approach is essential for empowering individuals to live healthier lives despite their diagnosis. <br> <br>The ADA's commitment to both research and support makes them an invaluable resource for the diabetes community. Their dedication to finding a cure while simultaneously improving the lives of those currently living with the disease is truly commendable. It gives me and my family comfort knowing that there's an organization working so hard to make a difference.

Alice's Kids is just what it says... a charity to help kids in need to experience the joy of having a pair of new shoes for school, a prom dress, joining a sport, a new coat or clothes, and so much more.<br> Alice's Kids has brought happiness to many kids thru their compassion and care for kids.<br>

ZERO provides mentoring for newly diagnosed men, hosts 5k races that encourages fitness, provides info booths, and PSA testing. They have an Annual Summit in DC for PCa victims and caregivers with info sessions, a get together party, and a trip to get support for PCa funds and legislation on the Hill. I've raised $1000s for them via the 5ks and 4 NYC marathons that I completed. I won a Bold for Blue award for my PCa advocacy. I have been volunteering with Volunteer Alexandria for ten years in different capacities. The one event that they host that I try to never miss is the annual Toy Drive. This event supports the underserved families in our city by collecting and distributing toys during the holidays. This event will support hundreds of families and their children this year as they have in past years. VolAlx recruits businesses, organizations and individuals to collect toys and then has volunteers gather the toys, sort them and present them to the families who shop for the toys for their families.

Code of Support Foundation has been immensely helpful for the families I have referred for services over the past 10 years. Their case coordination program and peer navigators are skilled at assessing the needs of veterans and families and leveraging resources to address those needs. This relationship is maintainted beyond the immediate need to provide ongoing support until the family is stabilized and prepared for success. The PATRIOTlink network database provides vetted resources for a variety of services and supports. PATRIOTlink is searchable by topics and categories relevant to the military and veteran community in their communities and across the nation. Code of Support Foundation is my number 1 recommendation to military and veteran families.

I hope this organization continues to provide services to the needful people of society for a greater positive cause.

Starting the adoption process was incredibly complicated and even frightening at first. We didn't want to make the wrong choices, and we really didn't want to be unprepared. NCFA has been an amazing guide, meeting us with compassion and helping us to truly understand what we were taking on. We couldn't have formed our family without them.

I was discharged from the navy as Honorable/disabled in 1965, but for some unknown reason they rated my disability as a 0% I had suffered a brain injury. Due to the way they wrote up my discharge, I was denied all VA benefits. However, The Blinded Veterans took up my case a few years ago and today I am rated at 95% disabled an have full medical and disability funding! They took my case even though it was very complicated and has taken many claims and claim reviews.. in fact they are still working to get me at !00%<br>This is special because every other lawyer and group had refused to help me due to the complexity of my case. In addition, because of their efforts my spouse will be better cared for if I die. they are awesome.

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) is the essential part of the Alexandria community’s efforts to help animals in need. Whether it is finding 1500+ animals a loving home each year, collecting over 26 tons of donated pet food and supplies, seeing animals receive needed vaccines and microchips, supporting thousands of animals through the Community pet pantry, or engaging hundreds of volunteers to provide thousands of hours of their time, AWLA works tirelessly to help animals in our Community. Alexandria is fortunate to have AWLA and its dedicated staff and volunteers to help make us Humans worthy of the dogs, cats, and “Smams” in their care.<br><br>

I've adopted 4 cats over the past 20 years through King Street Cats! Their volunteers are the most dedicated and awesome group of people. They go above and beyond for the cats in their care and to make sure they get the very best possible homes.
