When my husband passed suddenly and unexpectedly in June 2023, three weeks before our son's wedding and our 22nd anniversary, I was devastated. For five months, I struggled with the weight of overwhelming grief. Life as I knew it no longer existed. I knew I needed to find others who were on this grief journey and who knew the language of grief that only those who have lost someone close to them understand without explanation. I found out about My Grief Angels through social media and attended my first My Grief Angels meeting about six months after my husband died. From that first experience, I knew I'd found "my people" -- other members of a club no one wants to join but are so grateful to find once they qualify. In the last year, I also lost my brother-in-law and, three months later, my father. I do not know what I would have done without the kind, loving support, and lasting friendships I found in My Grief Angels.

Our family is deeply grateful to CKMC for the compassion, care, and generosity they showed us during the most difficult chapter of our lives. Near the end of our daughter’s journey with brain cancer, their support was a light in the darkness.They made it possible for her to experience the joy of holding a baby kangaroo, something that brought a genuine smile to her face and created memories we will cherish forever. They stood by us during her friendship ceremony, helping with appetizers and beautiful friendship bracelets, and also ensured we had lasting keepsakes by supporting her friendship vows with a photographer. During her time in hospice, they checked in with sincere offers of help, asking, “What can we do?” CKMC doesn’t just gift children experiences; they walk with families through the heartbreak and the beauty that come with the battle against childhood brain cancer.They showed up, they cared, and they continue to honor the memory of children like my daughter, Nova.Thank you!

Houston Rabbit Resource is such a special place! When I first lost a pet and stumbled into one of their community events, I felt so welcomed. They truly look after all the bunnies that come through their non-profit and go out of their way to help the community. <br><br>I ended up adopting a rabbit from Houston Rabbit Resource, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The staff and volunteers were incredibly patient and knowledgeable. <br><br>What sets Houston Rabbit Resource apart is their dedication to the well-being of every bunny in their care. From providing medical treatment to socializing rabbits for adoption, they give these animals the love and attention they deserve. They are more than just a rescue—they are a community of passionate individuals making a real difference for rabbits in need.<br><br>

10 years ago, I found myself with a four week old shelter puppy that I wanted to find a home for. Not having had my own dog in almost 40 years I had no idea where to start. Somebody told me about Operation Pets Alive. I reached out and they said if I was willing to foster the puppy, they would help me do everything else, including, finding her a home! . They provided guidance, support and encouragement in taking care of all of her basic needs, medical needs and most importantly, providing weekly adoption events so she could find her PERFECT home. Little did I know that beginning with that experience, Operation Pets Alive would guide me down a 10 year (and counting) path of finding my purpose, my calling, and my passion. I have been a volunteer and an adopter for this organization for 17 years. Our last 4 dogs came from BTRGH and I can't speak highly enough of this group's mission in rescuing and re-homing Boston Terriers. I am proud to be a volunteer for an organization that practices ethical and thorough adoption practices by carefully screening each applicant to make sure every dog gets into a perfect home. All of our volunteers are completely dedicated to the goals of this rescue group.

For 5 years I worked at a residential treatment center as a staff. I never understood why B2B Ministry would travel out the way to come to a facility that is almost 2 hours away but then I met Barbara and saw her passion and heart for the ministry. Not only does she help kids in foster care,shelters & lock down facilities but she builds a relationship with everybody and helps them in any way she can. Even after they leave care B2B Ministry continues to have relationship with everyone they come in contact with. Just recently I made a decision to leave the residential treatment center that I was working at and became a part of B2B Ministry. I have had the privilege of traveling to San Antonio,Austin,Bryan/College Station and all around Houston with B2B Ministry. Not only do we work with youth, we have families that we help also. There are time where some families may need clothes for there kids, a ride to work or even groceries or furniture for there apartments. When going to San Antonio and Austin we visit the homeless and provide care packaging & food. B2B Ministry does so many things to make sure no one feels left out. Every year B2B Ministry has a girls formal gala & a boys affirmation dinner for our youth in foster care. This takes a lot of time and patience as well as donations from the surrounding communities! This gives our youth the opportunity to enjoy an unforgettable night & a memory to take with them of how special they are to B2B. We also do birthday bashes every 3 months & give the youth small birthday gifts which mean a lot to them. B2B Ministry also does apartment outreaches in communities that many tend to forget about because of the crime rates. The ministry does all these things with little to no help at times. We have amazing volunteers who take time to give back in ways you could not imagine. Being a part of this ministry still allows me to do what I love which is working with our youth who are in the system but now it has open doors to do it in different locations. We all have been told negative things in our life’s but imagine what our youth have been told throughout the years. We encourage everyone to grow a relationship with God no matter what they have been through but to also never give up. With B2B we want to make sure no one ever feels alone & we let them know no matter where you are or where you go in life B2B Ministry will always be there for you!

Great opportunity to get the girls back outside and exercising and creating life long friends. Developing team work and communication skills. Girls softball league in south Montgomery county that has been hit twice by hurricanes that shut the fields down die to becoming the staging area for the debris. A non profit organization run by volunteers.

Singing Women of Texas (Southeast Chapter) is a group of supportive, caring, friendly Christian women. Being part of this talented and dedicated group has been an amazing experience. The songs we sing are inspiring to me as well as to our audiences. If you enjoy singing, want to expand your vocal skills. and desire to minister to others, I encourage you to become a member of Singing Women of Texas.

All Border Collie Rescue is an amazing nonprofit that thoughtfully connects pups to forever homes. My partner and I adopted Cami in November of 2016 and are forever indebted to ABCR for rescuing our best friend and bringing her to us (to Houston from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area)! Cami is, without a doubt and completely without bias, of course, the best doggo in the world. She snuggles like a champ and also catches frisbees! We love taking her for long walks and curling up with her on the couch for movie nights. Supporting ABCR helps pups like Cami through this wonderful rescue program. We highly recommend ABCR for both people looking to adopt a border collie and those looking for a worthy cause to support.

I just read the Conroe News out of the Woodlands. The post was regarding the critical work The Phoenix Charities is doing. I am a facial Esthetician and I am currently looking at returning to school to learn Laser Tattoo Removal and other services to further my education and expand my knowledge in this industry. I have been contemplating this for over 3 years and could not articulate a huge reason "WHY" to expand into this knowledge base. The Phoenix Charities has thoroughly INSPIRED ME! I have always volunteered, donated & worked with non-profits and especially with indigent children, teens and adults to help them with their skin care issues. I have always felt better "paying it forward" than receiving in any area. I love the non profit industry and the work The Phoenix Charity does. It is so critical for at-risk local children, teens and families. God bless you. I pledge to donate my services, now and in the future, to help those in need. We can never out-give God. Thank you for sharing. Child/Human trafficking is very real. I was shocked and stunned when I saw it with my own eyes over 7 years ago. When I worked for a local non-profit I was approached by a young "Nanny" who enlisted my help. With the assistance of local law enforcement/authorities we extracted her from this situation. We were able to orchestrate her safe return to her home country and family. She had been living for over a year in bondage in a very prominent neighborhood in Southwest Houston. I was unaware until this incident that the struggle is real. It's certainly not make believe, it is out there and we must be vigilant. Again, thanks for sharing, you have touched my heart, and I am sure countless others. You have given me an added layer to "MY WHY" to move forward with training. Keep up the vital work. God is good.

Becoming part of this organization has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Seeing the sponsored divers excelling at their skills while enjoying the beauty and peace of the underwater world, along with the comradery on land, is extremely humbling. I am lucky to have gained new friends and really become part of a new family!

I have been a part of The Pangea Network since Nicole started her vision to help women live our their dreams. I have traveled to Kenya with Nicki several times and have seen the impact they are having with women that not only affects them but also their family and extends to the villages they live in. The Pangea Network is not your normal micro-lending non profit. The women are trained for months prior to lending to ensure they have greater understanding of business, human rights, and finances. The loan repay rate is higher than I have seen at any non-profit out there. Aside from the financing they do to help underwrite financial stability, there is nothing like seeing the woman find hope for their future! Those smiles and stories impact more than the women but extend to the overall wellbeing of our society. Im a huge fan and think you should be too!

I have been working with Puente for several years as an outside consultant and am continually wowed by their work and impact on the communites they partner with. I particularly enjoy the human and "convival" touch of the organization.

Working with our daughters, we serve our community to improve the lives of others. <br>Diverse opportunities to volunteer means there's a place for everyone to find a way to spend time mentoring their daughter while helping the less fortunate, as well as have fun at community events. <br>The best way to help our daughters grow is through example. What better way than serving our community!

I have been volunteering with Armor of God for about a year, When I found out about this group who serves our military family needs, I was completely blown away at the passion this group has in serving the needs of our military families.

Excellent organization, and perhaps the most needed ministry in America. This ministry helps Christians to clarify the Gospel--explain clearly and simply what people need to do in order to go to heaven when they die.

Arts in Motion is a non-profit company of dancers, ages 6 to 19, formed from the In Step Dance Company. The mission of these dancers is very simple. They are "kids working for kids". Every year, this group of young dancers reaches out to children all over the Houston area. They have brought performances to the children and families at the Ronald McDonald House at the Houston Medical Center each holiday season for the last four years, have performed at area Houston events, including receiving invitations from Houston Mayor White to perform at the Holiday Light Festival in Memorial Park and the Houston Rockets to provide dance entertainment and now going into our local Elementary and Jr. High schools educating the community on the Art and History of Dance. We are trying to keep the Arts alive in our Community. It is our goal to continue to reach out into the community to bring the performance arts to more children. Each year we hold a Dance Concert. This concert allows us to build our funds to continue our community outreach. It also allows us to provide scholarships to children that want to dance but cannot afford the opportunity. In 2007, we provided $5,000 in scholarship awards, including a scholarship for a new college student majoring in the arts. We hope to increase that amount dramatically in 2009 and in 2010. We want to continue to host Master Class are the studio location as well.

Two years ago my husband and I found ourselves at an informational meeting of this group and were drawn in by the dedication of the presenters. Since that time we have come to see what the word dedication means, in the tremendous numbers of wildlife that pass through this organization on their way back to the wild. We joined that journey to rehab with this particular group and have found their members to have a determined mission, to care for these abandoned and injured wildlife and to educate the public on co-existing with them. It amazes me daily how this group works together and accomplishes great things. Though smaller in members than some organizations, they are more than worthy of your consideration.
