My wife had polio in 1946. Gillette Hospital was the only hospital to admit her. If it was not for this hospital my wife would never have survived. I am going to start donating to them in her honor.

I've been working in capacity development for many years and share some of the common goals that Educate Tanzania does - help the people. The work that they have been doing to establish a processing facility to produce value-added products from commodities that are locally grown is remarkable. This will allow these commodities to be preserved and consumed in the local market beyond what can be consumed fresh. In addition, there is potential for these products to be exported beyond Tanzania which can bring money back to the local communities. It's efforts like this that truly impact change in developing areas and I'm hoping Purdue Food Science can be a part of their exciting initiatives. I've always been impressed with Jan and Steve Hansen and their dedication to improving the lives and capacity building efforts in this area of Tanzania.

Emma Norton stated in 2023 that they were a harm-reduction setting, but, alas this seems to be in name only without really understanding the premise of Harm Reduction which is that people recover at their own pace and so individual recovery cannot be forced, enforced, or be apart of the "Gotcha" tactics that Emma Norton employed with me when I was a resident there. They had stated that marijuana was to be treated just like cigarettes since it had been decriminalized in MN. In my case, however, they chose to put me out on the street for offering another resident part of marjuana cigarette that I had found on the train. They stated that I was selling drugs and pushing drugs on other residents, which simply was not the case. I told them the truth about my drug use outside of the program, in confidence, with their peer recovery coach, this "evidence" was then used against me in order to justify them following me around the building, accusing me of selling drugs, and simply making assumptions about what I was doing. In the end, I was cursed and yelled at by their "lead" peer recovery coach which caused me to need to file a Vulnerable Adult abuse report as she had no right to personalize the situation so much that she literally got out of hand and was threatening towards me. They put me out on the street with nowhere to go that day. It was a very sad situation, to be kicked out for lies, rumors, and a marijuana cigarette. Poorly played Emma Norton. By the way, when I tried to bring this to the CEOs attention, I got 2 emails back and then nothing, no apolgy, no action. Some organizations use "Harm Reduction" and "Evidenced-Based practices" as these buzz words get the new funding, but in practice it's the same old, same old. Then we wonder why these programs don't seem to be working.

The Boys & Girls Club of the Twin Cities has played a pivotal role in shaping me into the young adult I am today. Through their unwavering support and commitment to my personal growth, they provided me with a safe space to learn, explore, and discover my potential. The mentorship I received taught me valuable life skills, such as leadership, resilience, and time management, which have become the foundation of my success. The programs offered—ranging from academic support to career readiness—helped me not only stay focused on my goals but also encouraged me to dream bigger and aim higher. The relationships I built with staff and peers created a community of trust and encouragement that empowered me to overcome challenges and embrace new opportunities. <br> <br>From high school to college, the Boys & Girls Club of the Twin Cities stood by my side every step of the way. They provided the guidance I needed to navigate the complexities of preparing for college, including application assistance, financial aid resources, and scholarship opportunities. Once I transitioned to college, they continued to check in and support me, reminding me of the importance of perseverance and hard work. Their belief in me never wavered, and their constant encouragement inspired me to stay motivated even during difficult times. Thanks to their influence, I’ve developed a strong sense of confidence and determination, and I’m proud to represent the values and lessons I’ve learned through this incredible organization.

When the crisis pregnancy center bought the building PP was selling because they could not make an obscene amount of money off the demise of the unborn baby and it was not located in a neighborhood where they could prey upon minorities they left us a present. We found 2506 confidential patient files in boxes in a closet in a gross violation of HIPPA. This happened again that year with 500 files in a nearby town where they again sold a building to a crisis pregnancy center. It took the government HHS/OCR a mere 5 years to investigate and instead of a penalty for this heinous recidivist violation of PRIVACY they got a slap on the wrist. By the way the clinic I worked with bought a building where PP claimed the did not do abortions but every exam room had a suction machine - and the most devastating thing was the lab sink had an industrial model garbage disposal. These are sick, demented people.

First time host parent here. And last time hosting with Nacel. This place is a nightmare. They care about the money. Not the kids period. In one conversation with Kimberly Morvig she talked trash about my host student, broke HIPPA 4 times about 4 other students and gave my personal information out to a former host family. <br>Erin asked us to do our face to face meeting at the airport at 6 am. I said no. So the meeting never happened violating DOS guidelines. I rarely got a monthly check in as they “forgot” to do it. I learned about a student that had an access and was in the er. So if that was your child… I hope he’s ok. And about a girl that got her period in school and was embarrassed. All things I should not know. Stay away. The school say nacek was the worst exchange program they had ever dealt with. I would agree. Find a different one.

Foster Together has been amazing. They have helped me more times than I can count. It could be dropping essentials off at night when I get a placement or sending me a personalized gift when a kiddo leaves my home. They have paid for trainings I am interested in, given me advice and supported me every step of the way. If it wasn't for Foster Together I wouldn't be fostering now.

This is a dysfunctional non-profit that was started as a franchise of a non-profit organization started and established in Seattle. The Executive Director's level of education is a high school degree. She runs the non-profit such that gossip and cliques abound. She is a nice person, but has the emotional maturity of an insecure adolescent. Because of this, there is no unity, only factions. This place is hopeless, unless a properly qualified and emotionally healthy individual is selected to run it. Without a qualified Executive Director, problems will continue to be dealt with in an inappropriate manner, that harms the vulnerable population of individuals who seek help from this franchise business.

Women of Nation have a handful of dedicated,caring,loving hard working employees that try help But the so called social worker is not knowledgeable of her duties she's a busy body that can care less .The director on the few times seems nice the childcare staff seems irrational & creepy I would not leave her to supervise anybody let alone the meetings there are not necessary because they are not helpful I believe there is a lot of favoritism and that while I was there I felt & seen what I felt were. plenty of African American staff & clients treated unfairly & not given extended help Overall it's the worst food , unhealthy,more subjected abuse not helpful at all in the situation or concerns of your self care or life the person they allow permission to supervise is very unprofessional & uses her power abusively they give no reason or answer to not offering you the help you need & get upset at you questioning their excuses or reasons it's horrible leading people backwards to possibly suffer worse abuse they are rude disrespectful & acts as the clients are children instead of adults I don't recommend going here for help I believe unless they can get more money or they like you or your kids they will exit you without reasons

Wingspan is awesome! They provide services to adults with disabilities and do it with heart and caring and humanity. We love to volunteer and support them!

Wingspan is a special organization. My brother is a resident living in a group home owned and operated by this amazing group of skilled and caring staff. The support and vigilance for the health and safety of each resident during the pandemic gave me such comfort. Since then, even with the staffing shortages, the Executive Director and Board of Directors have increased salaries and made sure staff are compensated for their dedication and hard work. The integrity of everyone involved with Wingspan has surpassed my wildest dreams of a safe and loving home for my brother Johnny. Thank you to everyone. Taree Leach-Junkersfeld

Filled complaint with BBB, Attorney genreal and looking into legal as they left us homeless after backing out 4 days before we where too move and after we signed the lease. Do not recommended, might be because we are a minority family? But they are not reliable. Look into options for people who want to help veterans who served there country.

I have been a volunteer with FNVW for over five years. This organization has a long history of working to create peaceful interactions among individuals and communities. The people I have met have left me in awe of the power of community-building and the commitment of individuals to build bridges and listen with care and compassion. I am currently a board member and volunteer actively involved in working with the Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP).

I attempted to adopt a dog from this organization, upon first attempt at contact I received a rather snarky message from them (one person in particular but I am not aware of her position or title) I ignored it and went through all the steps even though they were never clearly stated or explained, however I persisted. I paid for the trainer assessment as required only to have the employee from Pits Sake to not only shut the adoption down without explanation, then when I attempted to understand the next steps or reason she did this, I received only "My decision has been made" again without clarification. I have had dogs all my life, including the 2 I currently have, my dogs are well taken care of and loved. All I wanted to do was to provide that to another dog, only to be thwarted by someone on a power trip. I will not do business with this group again and would recommend others to do the same. All she did was prevent a puppy from finding her forever home. It had nothing to do with the dogs safety, it was an ego trip from someone with her own agenda.

This incredible nonprofit helps raise money and school supplies for kids and teachers. It is honoring the legacy of a young man who cared so much about education and the kids he taught. They have an annual 5k and a gold plate dinner. In addition to the school supplies, they offer scholarships for high school students who want to pursue teaching careers. What an amazing way to honor George.

Went to be a manager with habitat for humanity at a restore. Hoping to make a difference.<br>After being there for a short time and offering up many ways to make additional profit and being told by upper management no it became frustrating.<br>I went to management with those complaints also complaints about volunteers hearing other volunteers brag how they were in prison for murder and another for Rape. The management said they don't do background checks to expensive.<br>I said every major retailer does for the safety of customers and staff they just didn't care.<br>I then went to Hr told them the issues instead of helping they told management and those individuals than threatened staff and ignored the volunteers.<br>To make things even worse they would play favoritism with staff if friends. Like with donations even though there was a list of items they would not take they would take them and not care even though they cost money to get rid of. <br>And donations would lie about taking g donations from large colleges or even businesses if they didn't like the people.<br>And when OSHA investigated them regarding unsafe work condition in store they lied and said a staff member never was injured or volunteers even though we had a broken arm, broke heal, broken toe, hammer to a head.<br>And if staff or volunteers complained to CEO or board of directors it was blown off.<br>And majority of the issues were from one manager who should of been terminated but wasn't even though there was tons of emails sent in on himppp

This is Winston. He spent several years never knowing the freedom outside the bars of his cage. Everyone was too scared of him to take him out. When he arrived at MAARs a few months ago, boy did everyone think we had our work cut out for us. Today he climbed down from his perch and up on my lap and took a snack nice. He is a shadow of his former upset, sad, frustrated self. Seeing the changes in him is why I LOVE MAARs and spend my time volunteering there. Parrots are complex creatures and they bite HARD, working with them isn’t always easy. This group of compassionate, persevering, patient, kind volunteers is literally unmatched anywhere. This is rehabilitation at its finest. This is MAARS.❤️

Career Pathways has shown me that in a complex world with many different people of all backgrounds and experiences that people can come together for one cause: helping students learn! The students at Career Pathways learn much more than academics. They learn so many social and emotional skills that prepare them for the world they live in now and for the future and all it holds. The students want to learn and the staff care about the whole student. We teach students first at Career Pathways not content.

I became aware of Project Zawadi several years ago through my friend Ian Keith. Ian has been volunteering through PZ in the Tenda Teacher program for several years. His enthusiasm for PZ, Director Brian Singer, the board, coordinator Adrian Maganga and the Tanzanian teachers was contagious! I was thinking about retiring from my position as school administrator and committed to volunteer as well. Fall of 2018 Ian called me and said we need you to go be the first volunteers for the English Bridge Program. The program is 7 week intensive English instruction to prepare secondary students for the upcoming school year in the Mara region of northern Tanzania. The experience was life changing for me. I had not taught for 15 years and the children were so loving and eager to learn, amazing! The teachers and staff especially Coordinator Adrian were welcoming and made me feel like I was at home. The co-teaching model really benefited the students; as they went from shy learners to active participants in their learning. <br>I asked my family and friends to sponsor students through PZ and am thrilled they took me up on it.<br>I will definitely return to volunteer as I have left a piece of my heart in Tanzania!<br>I can not say enough positive things about Project Zawadi, phenomenal organization with all funds directly benefiting children and their communities!

I have been involved in fundraising for the Clubs for going on 3 years now. Every time I am able to spend time in the Clubs with the kids, I am amazed by the energy and the values being instilled in them from the club directors and staffs. The Clubs serve a valuable purpose for these kids where some of our other institutions have failed. Every kid deserves a chance and these clubs are giving it to them.
