I love everyone at MEALS ON WHEELS....they are the BEST PEOPLE EVER. I love getting my lunch everyday during the wk. My Nonney, when she was living use too get MEALS ON WHEELS ALSO. She also loved seeing the people who delivered her food too her, n' now I get my meals from them now. They are very caring, n' loving people....who deliver my meals too me...n' the people in the office are always super nice too me also. My wife and daughter brought our beloved dog Kura to this place hoping to provide a humane end to her life. Everyone agreed it was her time. Eleven years ago Kura showed up in our very rural backyard in the middle of the winter in very poor condition. It took five days to lure her into our home; it was obvious she did not trust people. After a few days we were able to get her to our veterinarian only to find out she had Lyme disease. That was the beginning of our long relationship with Kura. Fast forward to today. After someone had written up the order to euthanize Kura, another employee came out and said they were unable to provide the service because Kura had a chip imbedded inside of her. This was shocking and totally unexpected given her history. The beginning of her life became more of a mystery. The humane society cannot share the contact numbers on the chip, so they had to make the calls which were to OHIO. No answers and disconnected numbers. There is also an emergency contact. That person answered and said they no longer communicated with the primary contacts. In other words, there was no way to contact the people that registered the chip. The humane society then called our veterinarian whom confirmed we had cared for Kura for over 10 years. Even still, the humane society decided to do the most inhumane thing and deny her right to a humane passing. I am not an attorney for animal rights groups but I can say factually this was inhumane. I also do not know if responsibility lies in the hands of the chip providers or the humane society. I do know there needs to be change and I would like to know where to direct my anger, frustration, and influence for change.

What a wonderful group of individuals that pull together with parent volunteers to take a group of children and mold them into a touring troops of young acting professionals. It was a thoroughly worthwhile adventure for my son that pulled him out of his shyness and helped build his esteem. I highly recommend this organization for a child that enjoys the arts, as well as someone looking to help build this organization that started as a summer program with the Newington Parks and Rec and grew into a pretty wonderful black box theatre.

I have been a member of ECHO for more than 10 years. When I lost my husband, ECHO was a place I could go to get support, help with the many challenges and decisions I had to make and to feel loved and appreciated. All of the seniors are able to volunteer either as board members are committee members that help plan the activities. Working together and feeling valued as a senior and volunteer has helped me through many difficult times. We have fun, stay informed and take trips. All of the senior, volunteerss and staff there are energetic, loving and supportive of each other. ECHO is the place to be.

Judging a person is really successful, I think it should not only depend on his/her academic or career but also depend on voluntary contribution to his/her community. I have enjoyed various accomplishments in my studies and career and also suffered different failures. Whenever I got a hard/difficult time, I always recalled the old saying “Health is the biggest value to us”. Yes, I should thank for my healthy mental and physical that supported me to fight various difficulties and reach my various life goals. At this point, I realized there are a lot of disabilities need us to help them conquering their difficulties and reaching their goals. Having this thought, I started volunteering at Arc Mercer. Every Wednesday morning, I do some office support activities,such as data entry and clerical filing. I really enjoy working at Arc Mercer, because every person there is so nice to me. They always keep saying “Thank you” or “I appreciated your help”. Everyone needs love, everyone can give love, and that love is what everyone wants. That's a really important lesson to me. Making someone happy makes you happy, and they go on and make others happy and it's like a chain. Love is a chain of giving. <br> <br>Volunteering is so meaningful to me, that I am inspired to share my experiences with my friends and colleagues. <br>
