There is something seriously wrong here. Perhaps everyone at Canine Castaways is just overwhelmed. Regardless, this organization is dysfunctional. They claim to "rehab" pets before adopting them out. This is not the case.*<br>When we came to pick up the dog, we were told he spent the last 8-9 months in a kennel (not with a foster family as their website said). They said he was in good health and shy. We brought our current dog with us and the two seemed to get along. However we have found since then this Canine Castaway reacts strongly to all other dogs and most people, even dogs and people he doesn't like on TV!<br>The description of the dog said he was "working on" housetraining. It's been 3 months since we adopted, and this dog continues to suffer from polydipsia and polyuria. After two long trips to the Castaways' vet** yielded NO RESULTS from all the tests they did (blood, urine, X-rays-- they either don't answer the phone, or say they will call me back and don't), I appealed to the volunteer to get me the test results***, and took them with the dog to my vet ($400). And we are still looking for a diagnosis. Oh, did I mention the dog bit my sister? She was not interacting with him at all, and turned to leave, when he charged and grabbed her ankle.<br>*I have adopted three other dogs from three other rehoming agencies over the years. All 3 adoptions have been successful and the pets long-lived.<br>**I never met the vet. The dog was handled by staff.<br>***There was only one document from when they first took him in that had clear, relevant information. There was no result for some of the recent tests they did.
