I was diagnosed with major depression and and general anxiety while still on active duty in the Army. I separated and went back to school. After graduation, I quickly burned through my savings and retirement fund while job searching, caught in the endless cycle of we need many years of experience for this entry level job but you can't get experience without having a job. I was on the verge of losing my apartment and all my bills were behind by several months. I was, of course, have a depressive episode and panic attacks. The FWSF stepped in and got bills up to date and paid my rent. I now have some breathing room to pull myself back up. I've had a couple of interviews and things are looking up. Thank you FWSF and thank you Dr. Phillips.

This charity is fantastic! They have helped me 2 times and the second time my wife is battling cancer and the bills are piling up, they stepped up and helped out, what a God send they are! I don't have the words to say how much I appreciate them. May God bless them and the Veterans they continue to help.

My wife and I had reached the end of our rope. We had stretched six months worth of “safety net” savings to over a year as we struggled to make ends meet. My own health was declining at a rate faster than our bank account and the VA had all but ignored our pleas. But a Saint of a social worker got us in touch with Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund, and immediately we saw a light in the abyss. Within 24 hours I had money to feed my family and within 48 hours I had assurance our bills that month would be taken care of. They never judged us for being lost in the darkness, they never had me recount, and thus relive, the “why” and “how” we got lost in the first place. With open arms, warm hearts, and endless empathy, they lit the path for us to climb from the abyss and grasp ahold of our lives again. We will be forever grateful, Forever indebted, and now, with feet firmly planted, forever out of the darkness.

This organization is my go-to as a counselor that works with veterans. They are always professional, responsive and I know that they save lives of veterans with the support and care they offer. I cannot express how valuable they are as a resource as a VA Counselor

I am so appreciative of your help. I ran into so many hurdles trying to get help with this matter and it seems that you and your organization were the only ones truly there for me. I am truly grateful for how fast you responded, and keeping me informed. I suffer from anxiety amongst other things, so you have relieved me from more than just a financial burden. I actually cried last night when I got your email because I didn't know where else to turn, and there you were. Thank you so much being for me and the countless other veterans who needed you.

Fallen And Wounded Soldier Fund has helped me get through a rough time period in my life by helping me to pay my rent and truck payments while I go into a Residential Program in Battle Creek at the VA. They have come through in the past to help me with my bills and rent before including my cell phone bill. If you are a Veteran and are seeking financial aid I would highly encourage those who need it to reach out and contact them! They do an excellent job coordinating funds to help those who need it most and I can't thank them enough for what they do! Thank you!

Allow me to share my story. I was in the business of providing Service members and their families with resources while they were in hardships. When my job was eliminated, my family and I fell into a hardship as well. Word of mouth through another Veteran steered me to FWSF. Had it not been for this group, My family and I would have lost everything. I / We were Blessed to find them when we were in Dire need. Many Thanks to Dr. Phillips / FWSF for making it possible for us to regain stability!

Hello to whom ever reads this. First off I gotta give a big thank you to this organization. You really came though for us in a time of need. We were financially stuck and at the worst possible time my truck broke down. I had to cancel various VA appointments and it was making life more difficult. I was put in touch with this organization and spoke to the kindest women who truly cares. I could tell she loved her job and helping us vets. She could see how in need we were of some help and she went right to work on it. A few days later just before the 4th of July she called to let me know that the TFAWSF was going to cover the costs to get my truck fixed. I am so grateful for the help I received and to those who donate to such a great organization. Now I'm back in my scheduled physical therapy and other appointments and things are turning around. God bless all of you and again thank you.

A thousand “thank-you(s)” aren’t enough for the help and support FWSF has given me. They truly distinguish themselves from the average Veterans’ assistance organization. I became homeless & was sleeping in my car, then my car needed repairs, so I reached out to FWSF for help. Dr Lynn Phillips is super-excellent. She gave me vital advice, additional contact information for Veterans assistance, and reassurance that things would turn out well; giving me a further sense of optimism that all would get better. I had phoned a lot of other agencies, with no success in finding help to pay for my car repairs, until finally FWSF came through for me. A large notable difference between FWSF and the other agencies, was their surety — no guessing at it, or being unsure about something, FWSF was clear and concise about everything. I’m going through the most hectic time of my life and I’m so glad FWSF was there to help me when I had no other place to turn. They’re a superb organization, with an honorable mission of assisting Vets in time of need. FWSF performs that mission far above and beyond their call of duty. I’m forever grateful for what they’ve done for me.

Thank you FWSF, and many blessings to you and your families.

The Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund has done for me what no one else could. They were there when I was down and out on my luck. I was in need, and had no one to help Dr. Lynn came to the rescue. Helped me not once but two times when my car broke down, they helped me with my bills, and even helped me gain much needed experience for my college education and my journey to become a social worker. The FWSF is like no other organization I have ever seen. They are committed to doing what is right. I wish there was more people in the world like those who make FWSF possible. FROM THE DEPTHS OF MY HEART THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME, AND ALL THE OTHER VETERANS AND OUR FAMILY'S!

Earlier this year I received assistance from FSWF and had the absolute pleasure to work with Dr. Lynn Phillips. I just wanted to say Thank You to all of the donors, the volunteers and specifically Lynn Phillips. My transition after nearly 25 years of service has been plagued with many set backs and been an incredible challenge. I recently relocated from NY to Michigan and the assistance I have received helped me stay above water and ultimately provided me an opportunity to make a new life for myself and some new friends. I was referred to Odin's Outcasts and have once again been reminded that as a veteran you are never alone. People do care and FWSF is leading where others only talk. Thank you.

I contacted the fwsf to ask for assistance with my vehicle that I couldn't repair because of my current bill situation. It was getting dangerous to drive my kids and myself to school and work and was only a matter of time before something bad happened. I applied on a Saturday for help, the director, Linn had contacted me Sunday to gather information, the approval committee met Monday, and Tuesday I was approved to get my car fixed. I couldn't believe how fast this all happened and how much they were able to help. I highly recommend the fwsf for anyone who meets the criteria and needs help with something.

Lynn and her team have helped out so much this past year between helping with our bills and a car repair we were very blessed to have them by our side. Lynn was very supportive with me recovering from being injured while on duty and everything else tgat was happening in my life just knowing there was someone on the other end made the experience of having to ask for help that much more meaningful. My family and I thank you so much

Lynn and the members of Fallen and Wounded Soldiers were a huge blessing to our family during our time of need and crisis. Not only did she help us financially with a vehicle repair while my husband was away for military duty, she made sure that *I* was okay. Thank you so much, Fallen and Wounded Soldiers!

I am truly greatful for the help that the Fallen Wounded Soldier Fund organization has given me. I cannot imagine how I would have gotten through the tough times like I did if it weren't for them. Their organization has made me believe that there is good people in the world. They not only went above and beyond to help me with what I needed, they were quick to respond and compassionate. I cannot thank them enough for paying our electric bill right before it got shut off, helping us with groceries around Christmas when having none would have been particularly hard. They also helped again a few months later with 3 months of car insurance and registration. Without it, I would not have been able to finish school, or go to appointments. I found out today I got approved for a non-service connected pension and I will be honored to donate some of my retro-active pay back to them because they are a gift that keeps on giving. I cannot thank them enough. They are helping to make the best of our lives, for some us, we haven't seen good in a long time. I felt for once that I didn't have to starve. So grateful that they are taking care of the veterans.

I am so thankful for the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund. I contacted them when I needed help and they responded immediately with the willingness to help in some way.
I served nearly half of my 7 1/2 year army career in Iraq and Afghanistan and I am thankful for people and organizations such as this one who "care for those who have borne the battle." I have had a very hard time transitioning back into the civilian swing; to have an organization that can pick you up when you're down is a blessing.

Thank you Dr. Phillips!

We are so grateful for The Fallen and Wounded Soldier Fund. My husband is a vet suffering from ptsd. He has been going through a rough time and his physical health has been poor. He is the sole provider for our family and has been unable to work due to his poor health. We reached out after speaking with a social worker at the VA who recommended Fwsf to help get us by. After speaking with Dr Phillips to address our needs she got back to me, as promised, to inform us they would be helping us with some gift cards for daily living expenses. To us, this was an answered prayer and a huge weight lifted off my husband's shoulders. It's reassuring to know that there really are charities that help our vets!

My name is David branch. My wife daughter and her 4 children stay with me right now. I'm a disabled combat veteran that is currently in a PTSD program at the VA hospital in battle creek Michigan. Last month my electric and gas was shut off. I contacted this great organization for there help. With in a day they responded and was able to get my power restored. Following month we were getting ready to be evicted. And again I contacted them again for there help. They didn't hesitate one bit to help me and my family. They helped us pay past due amount and thanks to them my family is not homeless. I am 100 percent disabled and receive VA benefits but the pass 2 months I did not receive any due to over payment from many months prior. Now that that issue is resolved and my monthly benefits is back on I'll be able to provide for my family again. If it wasnt for the fallen soldier foundation this would not have happened. I thank Mrs Lynn for all her help in helping my family and I out with your assistance. From the bottom of my heart on behalf of my family and I we want to say thank you and God bless you all..... there is hope and help avaible to us....

It's hard to provide while I am away in treatment at the VA hospital in battle creek Michigan for my PTSD. Having 4 grand babies age 8, 4, 21/2 & 1 yr old living with my wife and daughter. Takijng my 8 yr old grandson back and forth to school. Going to doctor appointments and grocery store is impossible to do with out a vehicle. So again thanks to you and this foundation for blessing my family and I. May God Bless you and your family's as He did mine with you.....

I’ve had some struggles with working and recently had a seizure at work and lost my job because of it and trying to find work. I was told from my mental health provider at the VA about this foundation. I reached out and they immediately called and were able to help me with my rent for December after meeting with their committee. I was in tears and so thankful that I was able to get help. I hope to donate and give back once I get my feet on ground. It’s been a difficult transition coming home from Iraq and functioning in society and now I feel I know there are caring people that I know will help veterans in need. Very humbled that I was able to get assistance as many veterans out there are in need.

Lynn Phillips and the people who help are absolutely wonderful people. My family and I were in a really bad spot after just moving when plans fell through. Both vehicles needed work to find employment and we fell behind on bills just before the cold weather hit. My family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts Lynn.

I had fallen on hard financial times i.e. job transition, new bills, past due bills...you name it and I was experiencing it. Most importantly at the time, my car was repossessed a week before the start of my new position. Literally, one of the most depressing times I've had, not being able to provide for myself. I reached out to "supposed" avenues that were supposed to help veterans in a fast manner. None of them were willing to move fast or understand my situation, except for FWSF. I simply was able to talk with Lynn Phillips and while she was on her way to a charity event, she immediately started helping me. Three days later I was picking up my car. That type of care and dedication is what I believe every veteran put into their service, so to have it returned was more calming than the monetary assistance. I have worked for and with A LOT of veteran charities and FWSF is head and shoulders above them all. If you can donate, you will have the piece of mind knowing that they are doing EXACTLY what they tell you and what their mission states.

We cannot begin to show our appreciation for The Fallen And Wounded Soldier Fund!
My husband was injured in Afghanistan in 2009. He suffered a fall resulting in a TBI, PTSD and back injury. He was medically separated in 2014; 3 years shy of his full retirement.
My husband suffers from long and short term memory loss and he requires care intermittently.
I am a full time nurse also taking care of veterans.
This past year has been a struggle for us as his care has increased, his main care is at a medical center 3 hours away. I have been on FMLA since June for his recent back surgery requiring me to be home full time and the loss of my income.
This has a placed a huge burden on us financially and I was at a loss of what to do.
We became late on bills, shut off notices, etc.
I called for help at our local VA and I was given many resources. These resources however, did not give me the help we needed.. lengthy applications, copies of everything and very time consuming.
I called The VA in Lansing and was given another list of resources. The first one I called was The Fallen Wounded Soldier Fund and was called back almost immediately.
The process was seamless and personal. We were able to get caught up and all with just a few documents and easy access from our local library to get the information to this non profit organization.
We cannot begin to even say how helpful and swift our burdens became almost elimated by the ease and care from this organization.
We will forever be greatful and blessed to have organizations that are willing to help perfect strangers for the sake of those that gave so much to our country.
Thank-you is just never enough when your prayers have been answered.

Well, I am a medically retired/ Permanently disabled U.S Army Veteran. I have served three combat tours in Iraq, and numerous missions to the continent of Africa. I had almost 16 years in before the injuries I had sustained from an I.E.D, rendered me no longer useful to my U.S. Army. It's been a difficult transition, a transition I still haven't succeeded in. With financial woes starting to get the best of me, and my vehicle continuously getting worse. I had no clue what I was going to do. I don't have the financial means to fix my vehicle, and no family that could help or loan me the money to correct the problem. So, I started to surf the web through my phone and came up on the website, which is and was a Godsend! The Fallen and Wounded Soldier Fund website. I am not a soldier who likes to ask for help but what could I do in this situation? So, I called the phone number and spoke with Dr. Lynn Phillips , executive director of the Fallen and Wounded Soldier Fund (FWSF). She was understanding and caring. The shame I was feeling for having to swallow my pride and ask for assistance quickly dissipated as she spoke to me and put me at ease with my situation. I can tell you that Dr. Lynn Phillips, the Board Members and all the local businesses and volunteers that help and donate to the foundation are kind and generous people. They gave me the financial assistance to fix my vehicle, they handed me a life line right when I needed it the most. I honestly can't begin to express how appreciative I feel and how grateful I am to and for the FWSF. Thank you and I pray that our Lord may continue to bless the FWSF and help my brothers and sisters in-arms who come to seek assistance from the FWSF.

Respectfully,

Alex

Getting out of the military has been one of the toughest life challenges I have yet to face. One hardship leads into the next, battling with PTSD and giving everything I have to be a good father. I have so many dreams and a ton of ambition, with everything going on in my life and the never ending struggle it has be tough to focus on myself and my personal goals. I have worked with plenty of different agencies for just any kind of assistance to get back on track, and honestly I lost faith. I lost faith that being a veteran even meant anything. Of course I am proud of what i did for our country, but that feeling that no one else "really" cares, or that what I did was just another average Joe in an average life doing average things really hurts. I don't remember exactly how or why I got into contact with "Dr. Lynn Phillips" and The Fallen and Wounded Soliders Fund, but since the first telephone call she was absolutely amazing. It is very difficult to fully express and explain how deep my gratitude runs. Not only did she assist me with getting into a new home, she was there for me. It was more than a few phone calls and connecting the dots. She went far beyond her job specifics, and made me feel like I was important again. This was the first time that an organization has truly cared, it was never about just getting me the assistance I needed and getting me off the phone. Throughout our entire time spent resolving my current hardship, she made me feel safe and secure. More than anything I feel like I gained a friend. Thank you so much Lynn and your organization. One day I am going to help veterans, and I will know exactly how I want to do that because of you.
