My Nonprofit Reviews

My name is Alex Szakacs and my wife is Becky Szakacs. We moved to Michigan back in 2014 and have been fighting with the Veterans Affairs ever since. I served in the U.S. Army in the infantry, was hurt while in Afghanistan, and then medically discharged. In late December 2015 my knee completely blew out (which was part of my service connected injuries) and I wasn't able to work anymore. I had my first spine surgery scheduled in March 2016 previously to this happening. The VA refused to pay me an increase in disability till after surgery is actually done. So for the first few months of 2016 we lost most of my income and started in a downward spiral. After having my surgery on my spine in March, my wife got into a car accident in June to which now she is out of work and possibly going to need a spine surgery too. Then in October I finally had my ACL replaced after months of struggling to have the VA send me outside as the VA doctors had continued to tell me I was not hurt. I now am having another spine surgery March 2017 because the first one was not successful.
So during all of this we had many issues finaicially and by the grace of God we found the Fallen And Wounded Soldier Fund. They have saved my family from
becoming homeless and losing everything!!! This is the best organization we have ever been a apart of. They are also the only group, organization of any sort, or program that was wiling to help us before losing everything. Most things that are out there are for after the damage is done and it's to late. Their are some major organizations out there that are very popular but are not willing to help at all.
Bottom line is we will be apart of this nonprofit organization for the rest of our lives, not only have they helped us financial but the people you will meet through the events are amazing. You meet other veterans and their families but also so many ther people. Some of these people are the volunteers that make all this possible which they do on their own time, on their own dollar to give back to people in need.
