Review for The Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund Inc, Canton, MI, USA
I served in the US Army as an Infantryman in Iraq from 11/07-01/09. I was twice wounded by roadside bombs in Baghdad an retired from service in 3/10. I’m 100% disabled and unemployable. I have a wife and stepson and a baby on-the-way. My disability check is our primary income and sometimes things are very tight for us financially. I had heard of the Fallen Warrior & Wounded Soldiers Fund from some of my fellow Veteran buddies, but I had never asked for any assistance before and thought I could figure out a way to make my ends meet. Worrying about money, on top of worrying about my ability to provide for my family on top of already struggles with PTSD, was too much for me. So I reached out to the organization on a Saturday, thinking that I’ll probably have to be worrying about this for a week before someone gets back to me. Well, not even 24 hours later on Sunday, Dr. Phillips had reached out to me and really made me feel at ease about asking for a little help. As soldiers, it can be hard sometimes asking for help because we tend to want to fight our way out ourselves. Dr.Phillips was so kind and easy to speak to, I really felt at ease opening up and sharing my struggles with her. I really want to encourage every vet out there that it’s ok to ask for help and there are people and organizations that care for you and your service to this great nation! God bless America and God bless the Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Organization and all its contributors!
