Review for The Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund Inc, Canton, MI, USA
Hello. My name is Brian. I served in the Air Force from 2005-2016. Unfortunately, I did not handle some of life's difficulties that were thrown my way, especially concerning some of my military experiences. Some of these difficulties have manifested in mental health issues, which in turn have helped to create other problems that still adversely affect my life to this day. Things are better. There is hope for the future. However, one of the reasons why I can see such hope is because of organizations like The Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund!!!
I had unforeseen utility issues this past December and recently this month: My heat went out, and my washer broke, respectively. When my heat went out, I was devastated. I didn't know what to do or who to turn to. How was I going to heat my home? For myself and my two teenage boys? A mutual friend who knew of my plight told me about The Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund. I was reticent to reach out. I never thought I deserved assistance or help. However, given the dire situation I was in, I did end up reaching out. To my surprise and grateful astonishment, Dr. Phillips reached out immediately and deposited a sum of money that allowed me to fix my heat issue! There was concern and worry in her voice. You could quickly tell her feelings were altruistic. She truly cared and wanted to help. To help me and my boys. I was amazed by the experience. I could not believe someone like her and an organization like this existed. The people within the program are nothing short of miracle workers, for without them, I would not have had heat for the remainder of the winter. Their kindness, generosity, and desire to help saved me and my boys from further suffering. I will always and forever be in their debt and grateful that people like them exist in this world!
Moving forward to March, I am in a similar yet less dire position. My washer broke and flooded a large part of my basement. I did not have the money to replace it—not even close. Moreover, April is my boys' birthdays. They wouldn't be able to have one, as I now had to find a way to replace a washer, which I had no idea how to do.
Given how much assistance and help I recently received from The Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund, I was hesitant to reach out. If it were not for my sons' birthdays, I wouldn't have. In the end, I did, though, and once again, I experienced the same love, kindness, and consideration I received from Dr. Phillips and The Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund as I did the first time. My boys could have a small semblance of a birthday, after all! When Dr. Phillips called to tell me, I could barely put two words together as I was overwhelmed with joy, happiness, and gratitude.
Dr. Phillips and the other men and women at The Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund are an incredibly special breed of people. Their desire to help, assist, and ease the suffering of people like me is unmatched. I can honestly and truly say that without their help, I would be in a much worse position than I am today. They saved me and my sons simply because they are lovely and unique people who, honestly and altruistically, want to help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Dr. Phillips, and to everyone else at The Fallen & Wounded Soldiers Fund. You all are changing lives for the better!
