Getting out of the military has been one of the toughest life challenges I have yet to face. One hardship leads into the next, battling with PTSD and giving everything I have to be a good father. I have so many dreams and a ton of ambition, with everything going on in my life and the never ending struggle it has be tough to focus on myself and my personal goals. I have worked with plenty of different agencies for just any kind of assistance to get back on track, and honestly I lost faith. I lost faith that being a veteran even meant anything. Of course I am proud of what i did for our country, but that feeling that no one else "really" cares, or that what I did was just another average Joe in an average life doing average things really hurts. I don't remember exactly how or why I got into contact with "Dr. Lynn Phillips" and The Fallen and Wounded Soliders Fund, but since the first telephone call she was absolutely amazing. It is very difficult to fully express and explain how deep my gratitude runs. Not only did she assist me with getting into a new home, she was there for me. It was more than a few phone calls and connecting the dots. She went far beyond her job specifics, and made me feel like I was important again. This was the first time that an organization has truly cared, it was never about just getting me the assistance I needed and getting me off the phone. Throughout our entire time spent resolving my current hardship, she made me feel safe and secure. More than anything I feel like I gained a friend. Thank you so much Lynn and your organization. One day I am going to help veterans, and I will know exactly how I want to do that because of you.
