Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Autism, Disabilities, Health

Mission: The goal of ASDF is to support children with an autism spectrum disorder by providing information, education and financial assistance to their families and relevant community service organizations. Funds donated to ASDF will be used to address any and all kinds of issues in assisting children with autism and their families. By providing financial assistance to families and autism-specific organizations, together we are able to give autistic children and their families the resources they need to grow.

Programs: The foundation educates the public about autism; provides families with tools and educational materials to assist in the early detection of autism as well as tools to treat children suffering from autism; and provides families of people suffering from autism with information on programs available to assist them. The foundation provides financial assistance to the families and relevant community service organizations that help people suffering from autism. In the past 8 years, ASDF has provided financial assistance to approximately 2,740 families who have children on the autism spectrum. The financial assistance went for camp scholarships, swimming lessons, horse therapy lessons, iPads, gift cards, etc. During the same period of time, we provided autism awareness information to approximately 3,178,000 new mothers across the United States through our autism awareness program. Through our 2018 iPads for Kids Programs, we were able to send 103 iPads to children who are nonverbal. Our 2018 Holiday Gift Card Program provided 319 gift cards from Walmart and Target to families who needed assistance.

We feel so blessed and grateful! Been a single mother is difficult day by day not only just in terms of time but also in terms of economy, trying to provide my daughter with all that her condition of life needs, it’s a real challenge!
Fortunately, We been referred for another parents with the same situation then me, and I’m hopping my review can help you to realize that you’re not alone!
My daughter Nirvana, is 7 years old and enjoys swimming a lot, not just for fun also is helping her to relieve her tantrums and her sensory issues, after swimming you can notice that She seems calmer and more relaxed, and would not be possible without the help of people like Michael and Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation provide us!!

Thank you beyond words!

I am director of two organizations in the Atlanta, Georgia area. I am so very grateful for the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation. The School where I am Executive Director has relied repeatedly on this organization to fill the gap with students' families face unexpected crises that hit their budget hard. Because of this organization, I have been able to tell many families that their child can continue in school because we know where to seek help. Because of ASDF many students have been able to have the kind of summer services that allow them to continue to learn and grow and develop during the long summer months. The other organization that I direct has summer camps and respite services for families. Many children who do not have the means to pay for summer camps where they work on critical social, communication and life skills are able to attend. I am so proud to be associated with this organization. Again and again, they have stepped up for the families I serve and they have allowed me to be in a position to use all the resources available to them to help their children reach their full potential.

My daughter is 15 years old and has autism with ADHD and Bi-polar disorder. She is an only child and struggles with making friends. Since she is 15 there are not summer camp programs for her age. She was staying with a family member for the day who was not able to take her on outings during the summer. The Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation provided payment for her to attend a week of summer camp for kids on the spectrum. She was able to make friends and enjoy a fun filled week of activities. Due to our struggles of paying for her specialty treatments this would not have been possible.
She was able to gain self-confidence skills and feel totally normal for a full week of her life. She loved Camp Lakey Gap in Black Mountain, NC and has expressed returning next year if possible. She came home with a glow we had never seen before. At camp she felt able to be herself around other campers who struggled with the same issues.
When I say this was the happiest week of her life I really mean it because these were her exact words.
Children with Autism do not get to share many happy moments in their social lives because they view themselves as different and are often treated different by peers. When they are able to come together for fun events they enjoy each other and the time they spend together.
Thank you so much for this life changing event in our lives. We are beyond grateful.

I am so very grateful for Michael and the staff at the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation. They have made it possible for several families in our county to send their children to my non-profit organization for services. They have been able to attend my garden, cooking and art programs that they otherwise could not afford. To see the smile on these young adults' faces when they harvest a tomato and then learn how to cook with it is par to none

My family and I are very grateful to receive a camp grant for our daughter in Maryland. Camp has made a big impact on her life and ours. The counselors at the camp are from different countries and all show patience and empathy towards the campers. Special thanks to Mr Slutsky and Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation for making this experience happen and also extremely successful for our daughter. She returned home each day with many stories to tell, new friends made, and her adventures with nature. Thank you again!

Our family is so incredibly thankful to the Autism Spectrum Foundation for their assistance. I am the single mom of two amazing little boys, both of whom happen to have multiple medical needs. My older son has an autism diagnosis as well as multiple medical issues. He has been referred for many therapies including speech/language, OT, PT and equine therapies. Many of his medical expenses are not fully covered by insurance, and we have a lot of expenses due to having to travel, sometimes hundreds of miles, to his specialists appointments. My son relates well with animals and benefits immensely from equine therapy. I am not able to continue paying out of pocket for this very beneficial therapy. We were blessed to receive a grant from Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation, Inc. to cover his equine assisted therapy services and have seen so much progress through these services, progress that I do not believe we would have seen otherwise. Thank you.

My daughter attends camp over the summer through Aaron’s Acres. They provide a excellent program for children and young adults with special needs. We are able to attend this program with the help of financial support. The scholarship money received from the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation has allowed our daughter to have a great summer experience through camp at Aaron’s Acres. We are forever grateful for the support that is provided as camp is her favorite part of her summer. It also allows us as parents the peace of mind to know she is having a good time and in great hands.

Finding ways to create typical experiences can seem a hurdle too high sometimes. However, with assistance from ASDF our son is able to attend his first overnight camp. He has spoken nonstop of his excitement in being able emulate what he sees on tv. We are ecstatic that he will be creating lifelong memories; socializing and building confidence. We could not have done this without ASDF, we are so grateful.

I am a Migrant Advocate at the Migrant Farmworkers Assistance Fund and want to thank Michael Slutsky and ASDF for their partnership with our organization. The financial assistance one of our families received this summer allowed their son, Fabi, to attend Camp Encourage. Camp Encourage is an overnight summer camp in Linwood KS, specifically for kids diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Thanks to the assistance from ASDF, Fabi was able to attend Camp Encourage and had a wonderful time! One of his goals while at camp was to ride a horse – and he did! On behalf of the family and our organization, thank you for helping create such great memories for Fabi!

The Migrant Farmworkers Assistance Fund is a non-profit organization based in Kansas City, Missouri that seeks to serve and empower migrant and seasonal farmworkers. Our organization provides ongoing assistance to many migrant farmworkers and their families; helping navigate healthcare, education, legal and other necessary services.

Aaron's Acres is a non-profit organization that provides year round recreational programs to children and young adults, ages 5-21 with developmental disabilities. For this summer (2019), we received an extremely generous donation from ASDF to support families who wished to send their children to the camp program, but needed financial assistance. Helping these families financially allowed these families to register their children for our program and not experience additional stress regarding how they would pay for it. Too often our families face numerous stressors as they raise children with varying challenges. For this summer, the families who received this type of support were able to relax a bit and know that their children were in a safe, supportive, therapeutic setting, focusing on building and strengthening socialization and communication skills. Thank you to ASDF!

I am the Executive Director of Aaron's Acres. We are a non-profit organization that provides year round recreational programs to children and young adults, ages 5-21 with developmental disabilities. During the summer, we have a camp program that serves over 200 children. As a result of receiving a grant from the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation, eight families who were facing financial difficulties were able to register their children (diagnosed with having autism) for camp. One of the campers on the first day of camp said, "I see my friend, Matt". Mom shared that her son never said the words "my friend". Thank you to this Foundation for supporting these families and for helping to create wonderful memories! Role: Professional with expertise in this field

The assistance from ASDF has led to a meaningful life for my son. His funding was for job and cognitive coaching so he could learn the skills to participate on a job search for potential employment. This must be taught by a provider that understands individuals on the autism spectrum and their language and soft skill challenges. This finding assistance will enable my son to b come part of his community which he deserves th right to. Meaningful inclusion is very important to our children’s well being, self esteem and mental health. Leaning does not end when school ends. Thank you ASDF for providing the desperately needed funding.

The Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation has been incredibly helpful in providing funding to cover my 4 year old's private swim lessons! I have been so worried about how to teach my Autistic son to swim, I thought it would never happen until I reached out to the foundation! They were so nice, and the entire process was simple! I wish to thank them as well as the donors involved, if it wasn't for the compassion of others, many people like myself would find very few options! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
