Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Autism, Disabilities, Health

Mission: The goal of ASDF is to support children with an autism spectrum disorder by providing information, education and financial assistance to their families and relevant community service organizations. Funds donated to ASDF will be used to address any and all kinds of issues in assisting children with autism and their families. By providing financial assistance to families and autism-specific organizations, together we are able to give autistic children and their families the resources they need to grow. In the past seven years, ASDF has provided direct financial assistance to over 2,150 families who have children on the autism spectrum. The financial assistance went for camp scholarships, iPads for children who are nonverbal, swimming lessons, horse therapy lessons and holiday gift cards. During the same period of time, we provided autism awareness information to approximately 2,478,000 new mothers across the United States through our autism awareness program.

Programs: The foundation educates the public about autism; provides families tools and educational materials to assist in the early detection of autism as well as tools to treat children suffering from autism; and provides families of people suffering from autism with information on programs available to assist them. The foundation provides financial assistance to the families and relevent community service organizations that help people suffering from autism.

Four years ago we had a family in our program come in danger of having to leave the program because their personal finances simply would not allow their son to continue receiving services. The Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation came through for this family by covering the cost of the program for that year. This young man has now been with us since 2013. This child who was barely talking and would not allow his har to be cut and had difficulty following simple directions has come so far in these five years. In December we determined he could be ready to go to sleepover camp for a week this summer with his typical peers. We spent months working on skills like washing his hair, changing his clothes, following a schedule, and communicating well with others. This month, when the time came for him to go to camp, we felt that his therapist needed to go with him this first time, in order to assure a successful experience and to facilitate communication with his peers. The Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation came through again to pay for his therapist to spend five days with him, helping him achieve success at this camp. He came through camp with flying colors and we were excited about the other groups who took note and realized that a child with autism could be successful at camp. It has been my joy to partner with the ASDF to meet the needs of many children across the years. They are an amazing organization that help so many others.

As a parent to a 3 year old with autism, I am beyond grateful to Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation Inc. They generously provided funds to our local Pensacola Autism Summer learning lab(camp) so that more and more families(like my own... ) had the financial means to afford to send our kiddos -to young adults to an amazing summer camp! This camp has all trained staff applying the principles of ABA to help each camper reach and exceed everyday, socially & individually important goals. It makes such a difference in their summers, and lives and their families lives and our community as a whole. Thank you so much for providing us the opportunity to learn and grow and be accepted & blossom.

My name is Erin and my son Hughston is 3 years old and has autism. We moved to the Pensacola, FL area earlier this year (2017) and found ourselves with lots of support, a great community, yet struggling to make ends meet financially. Thru a local group here we applied for help of a holiday gift card to help our family out and we were beyond blessed to be chosen as a recipient this year! I am not exaggerating when I say you made our season bright and we would not have been able to provide our family with a great meal and a special gift for our son without your generosity. Thank you for all the support you provide year round to these amazing, unique, special kids and adults and know you make a difference in our lives every Day. Thank you so much once again.

I wanted to send my son Aron, who was diagnosed with autism in camp, but the cost was just too expensive, and then I heard about this wonderful organization that helps fund camp. I contacted them, they where just so amazing, in no time a check was mailed out to this special need camp. My family is excited to get a little break, and my son will get an amazing camp experience with top notch therapy. thanks to this wonderful organization and thanks to all the wonderful donors.

We found Camp Odakota last year at a time my twelve year old niece needed it most. She had just started middle school and had discovered that the kids she once knew in elementary school as friends were suddenly strangers. She had never met another child with ASD and, was feeling alone. Excited was not a big enough word for how she felt when she learned that she would be camping with other kids that would finally "get" her. My sister is a single mom raising two kids on her own. She works very hard but never has enough for any "extras." Without the help from ASDF my niece would not have had the opportunity to finally attend a sleep away camp. She would not know the excitement of being reunited with old friends as well as knowing she will be making new ones. Camp is something all children should get to experience. Camp Odakota gives children with ASD more than a camp experience, for children like my niece, this is the one time out of the year she will feel as though she really fits in. Thank you ASDF for giving my sister the peace of mind knowing that she will not need worry about how she is going to send her daughter to camp this year!

My son has had the great opportunity to attend Camp Odakoda for several years now and it is mostly due to the very generous support of the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation. Without the Foundation's support we would not be able to afford camp, but their generosity has made this wonderful opportunity possible. The happiest and most excited I have ever seen my son is when I pick him up from Camp Odakoda. It is a place where he is not only completely accepted but he is celebrated! We cannot thank the people who put their hearts and souls into Camp enough - it is truly a wonderful gift you are giving these kids.

My son has ASD and has had the great opportunity to attend Camp Odakoda this past summer thanks to the generous donation of Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation. The financial aid you provided helped our family and made it possible for our son to go to this amazing camp for kids with autism spectrum disorder. It is a camp he looks forward every summer because he gets to be himself around kids just like him.

Camp Odakoda has been one of the only places my son has felt truly comfortable and understood. I would not have been able to send him to camp this year. Because of this wonderful organization, they have provided a scholarship to help him attend this year. This will make a world of difference for him! I can’t thank them enough!

My son with high functioning asd is so excited to go to summer camp at Camp Odakoda this year! He really loves making new friends and it is priceless knowing that his new friends will be able to understand him. He feels like an alien most everywhere he goes, but for four days he will be a native. This wonderful organization is helping making it possible. Thank you so much!

Hello my name is Nicole Jeanne cox. My son Zaveon has asd. And many different health issues, me as a single mother have problems providing all that he needed to be able to live at home. My son was being beaten and abused in a residential treatment facility and needed things to be able to come home out of the facility. I reached out everywhere and thought nope was lost. Then God showed me this organization full of the most kindhearted, sweet, loving people. They are making sure my son will no longer be abused and will be home with his 3 siblings. Thanks so much these donations can make or break a family. Please rise up and save a life of an emotionally damaged and broken child and family and bring them hope. We are beyond grateful for all they've done. And all the money donated to this cause you all are the real MVP's. God bless

Thank You

It would have been incredibly hard to pay for this camp this year if it wasn’t for you. Either way I cannot express my gratitude in just a small letter, but I can try to. Here we go! This camp means so much to me and to receive a scholarship to go there really makes my day! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the scholarship. I want you for know how thankful I am for the scholarship. Every year I look forward to going to this camp. The art club, the dogs, the computers. It is one of my favorite things in the year. After the month of May it is one of the few things i look forward to all year. (Alexander, age 13)

My thanks for you generously providing for my 11 year old son to attend Camp Odakoda East goes beyond these words. The experience of the camp itself and the after effects of learning social skills and peer support will be so impactful. My son loves camping, and now he will enjoy the special enriching experience of being able to camp with like minded friends, which will be a first. Thank you so much for the opportunity that we wouldn’t otherwise have, and for all the important work you do.

Thank you so much to the anonymous donor who made it possible for our 12 year old son to attend Camp Odakoda in Central Oregon! This is the first ever sleepover camp he’ll be able to attend due to his developmental disabilities and he is thrilled to pieces to spend time with kids similar to him. We weren’t sure how we were going to make it work until now; while we completely understand the cost, it is a big one for our family! Thank you again so so much!

This charity has helped to make my family's life change. It all started with a simple request for an iPad for my 4 year old autistic son. Many programs around my area and many others do not fund iPads for children on the autism spectrum, and we can't blame them. iPads get used for other purposes other then as a learning tool. I reached out to this charity and they blessed my family. My son, who is 4, is non verbal. He had maybe a vocabulary of 20 words. We needed an iPad to help him to talk, to learn how to talk. He uses one at therapy and it was starting to help. We wanted it a full time thing. We strictly agreed as parents just the LAMP app and that is all he will have access to, 5 months later and we have held our rule. And 5 months later he has told me for the first time how he has felt, that he loved me, and what makes him happy. We are beyond blessed for the gratitude of the donors to this charity. Without them my son would be able to finally tell me his wants and needs. So thank you. And please if you want to donate to a charity....this is the one. These children need these devices. It changes everything and brings many happy tears!!!

A very blessed and thankful family ❤️

Once again, ASDF has blessed those with autism in the greater Pensacola area!! As CEO of Autism Pensacola, I want to let you know how much we appreciate the donation you make to our Kids for Camp Summer Learning Lab! This generous grant will enable us to meet the needs of the most needy campers in our area. This camp provides ABA type teaching and training for teachers while allowing children with autism the opportunity to work on those priceless social skills. In fact, many typical teens volunteer at camp and decide to become teachers or therapists to work with our kids in their future! ALL of this is made possible through the generous donation of ASDF! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

What an amazing day it has been here at Autism Pensacola in Pensacola FL! We have been blessed to partner with ASDF for over 6 years now. They have provided scholarships for our summer camp as well as Holiday Gift Cards to us since 2011. As CEO of Autism Pensacola, the highlight of my holidays is when we get to distribute ASDF provided WalMart Gift Cards to our families in need to brighten their holidays. Today we have had many of the 37 families who qualified stopping by to receive their card. They are so grateful! We have seen many tears of joy and heard stories of the difference this gift will make for their children this Christmas. From the newly single mom who is struggling to make ends meet while meeting her kids' needs to the expecting mother who is on bed rest while trying to support her autistic 6 year old, everyone is so grateful. The icing on the cake is the support you sent beyond the gift card program to help a family who lost everything in a fire to get back on their feet in time for Christmas. This child who has been grieving for his favorite things that we lost will have so much joy when they are restored because of your gift!
Thank you so much for allowing Autism Pensacola to see the joy you provide for our neediest families. You truly make a difference for those living with autism! Thank you to everyone who supports ASDF! Your gifts enable us to be a blessing when it is so needed. Thank you! Thank you!!

I am director of two organizations in the Atlanta, Georgia area. I am so very grateful for the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation. The School where I am Executive Director has relied repeatedly on this organization to fill the gap with students' families face unexpected crises that hit their budget hard. Because of this organization, I have been able to tell many families that their child can continue in school because we know where to seek help. Because of ASDF many students have been able to have the kind of summer services that allow them to continue to learn and grow and develop during the long summer months. The other organization that I direct has summer camps and respite services for families. Many children who do not have the means to pay for summer camps where they work on critical social, communication and life skills are able to attend. I am so proud to be associated with this organization. Again and again, they have stepped up for the families I serve and they have allowed me to be in a position to use all the resources available to them to help their children reach their full potential.

We are so grateful for The Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation. Because of their generous grants and scholarships we have indivu all come to summer camp who could never afford it. In addition, this year they have supported one of our families at The Bridge of Georgia with tuition so that they can put him at our school. We are thankful for a foundation helping us that genuinely seems to understand the heart of the communities we serve.

Blessings!
