Causes: Federated Giving Programs, Philanthropy
Mission: Coda is an organization that focuses on hearing children of deaf adults. Membership is primarily, but not exclusively, composed of hearing children of deaf parents. Coda addresses our bi-cultural experiences through conferences, support groups, and resource development.
Programs: Conferences - annual international-conference that brings together members from around the globe. In 2016, our conference was held in austin, tx, with attendance of approximately 200 members. Out attention in planning our conference around, and in close-proximity to, deaf events, including deaf way and the world federation of the deaf, allows us to increase our international focus and participation. Grants are given to qualifying individuals to help defray the costs to attend our international conference. (activity reported on schedule g)
scholarships - annual scholarships awarded to hearing children of deaf adults to help them pursue their education. The scholarship can be used for undergraduate or graduate study. On average, two $3,000 scholarships are offered annually. These are one-time scholarships, but can be applied for each year.
outreach - our outreach efforts are coordinated by an outreach committee chaired by a member of our board of directors. Outreach members are of both domestic and international origin. The following comprises our outreach tools; coda international, inc. , website, brochures, presence at deaf events all over the country, and coda entertainment venues and local retreats.
koda camp - a summer camp for kids of deaf adults. We provide the camp with funds to use for those recipients who do not have the ability to pay for koda camp.
