I retired last year as a nurse (something I loved to be). I was looking for a place that could fulfill my need for service to others, and for socialization. I was also looking for a place where I could interact with the community and I found both, in the Tri-City Food Bank. I found new friends in my volunteer service; not just among the many volunteers, but also in the awesome and hardworking staff who made it all work.
It fulfills such a great need in the community for people who struggle to put food on the table every day. I am so proud to be a part this hardworking, dedicated, and positive-thinking organization. I work two days a week and I value every minute I am there. The staff greets all who come to give much-needed volunteers, with a welcoming and appreciative attitude. I welcome the camaraderie of working with like-minded people who are giving back to the community.

I was a retired nurse as of the middle of May. I was looking for a place to serve, socialize, and interact with the community. Various members of my church spoke highly of the Tri-City Food Bank. I couldn't have asked for a better place to volunteer. There is such a great need to bring food to the table for those who struggle to do so. The cost of living is high in our area and having to buy food comes at a price for those struggling to feed their families, maintain their health needs, and have a roof over their heads. Having the food graciously donated by those who can; makes all the difference for those who need it. I have made new friends and volunteer with the most awesome, hardworking, and dedicated people. I've even picked another day to volunteer.

No one gets turned away and people are supported with utmost respect and kindness. A great place to volunteer and get help.

I’ve volunteered at TCV for almost all of 2022. The program does everything it can to make the most amount of food available to the most number of people. What I admire most is the nonjudgmental to all our clients.
The full time staff are outstanding and give volunteers an enormous amount of support. TCV is the best social services agency I’ve ever been involved wit.

I have been volunteering at TCV for a little over a year. This food pantry is well organized. The staff is friendly and welcoming.

The shifts are 3 hours in length which is not a big demand on one's day.

The volunteers are provided for with (gloves, vests, water, break room, shade coverings) while working.
Ample parking provided next to the facility.

It feels good helping those in need.

I retired a couple of years ago and was looking for somewhere to volunteer my time. I found a home at Tri City Food Bank. The staff are friendly, helpful, and always available to answer any questions you might have. I volunteer on Tuesday and Thurs. mornings. We set up the food market and then greet the clients. We are very busy so the time goes by very quickly. They are always looking for new volunteers. Hopefully you’ll give it a try.

I am a retired preschool director and was looking for something to do a couple days a week. On my first day volunteering at the food bank they made me feel very welcome and put me to work. Everyone was very helpful and didn’t make me feel incompetent if I had a lot of questions. I have been volunteering for over a year now and look forward to seeing my volunteer family 2 days a week.

I have done 40+ volunteers with this organization, and it has truly been an amazing experience. All of the workers are welcoming, polite, and respectful. I was able to learn from Jim, Anju, Kelly, Bella, and so many others. Volunteering here has already taught me so much, and the best part is that this nonprofit makes a direct impact on hundreds of lives. Every day, they pack mobile orders, distribute food to low-income families, and provide meals for those in need. Being able to volunteer here made me feel like I truly did something useful with my time. I admire the effort and selflessness of every volunteer/worker here and will definitely continue to volunteer!

They are warm and welcoming to everyone. As a volunteer, I'm well-supported throughout my shift.

They are oriented toward honoring their clients and serving them as best they can. Client choice is highly emphasized, as the new market-style setup demonstrates.

This is a very multi-lingual community. Volunteers who are fluent in multiple languages may get to practice using their other languages with clients who don't speak much English, which I really enjoy because I can always use the practice. Clients are also understanding if you don't speak their language; we all do our best.

TCV serves the community by providing groceries to those in need. A mobile pantry delivers groceries to food service centers, snack packs and hygiene kits for those who are unhoused. TCV also hosts holiday events to bring a lot of joy to the community.

I absolutely love volunteering for Tri City Volunteers! I remember volunteering at this organization when I was completing primary and secondary school. After going away to college and moving back to the Bay Area, I decided to return to TCV and was incredibly proud to see how much the organization has evolved. Everyone is so kind, welcoming, and knowledgable. The staff makes volunteering so easy and enjoyable. Would highly recommended anyone who wants to enrich our surrounding communities to join TCV!

This nonprofit assists local citizens with needed food. They provide market style groceries at their location and through mobile pantries to low income and Senior sites. In addition to food, TCV provides clients with food for their pets. Homeless citizens are assisted with daily food bags.

Volunteers are able to use an automated system to sign up for a variety of tasks and in a very easy and flexible manner.

I've been volunteering for nearly 2 years and have met the greatest people! I've gone from packing bags to packing pantries and now drive one of the trucks to deliver the food to a pantry site. I enjoy knowing I'm helping in a small way to end hunger and love meeting and interacting with the recipients. Try-City Food Bank cares about people and has a staff of creative, energetic people working together to get food to those who need it most.

Whether you're talking human affairs or animal ones, TCV Food Bank + Mobile Pantry truly delivers on its mantra of "reaching hunger where it lives." Their distributions and deliveries are run by folks who genuinely care for the communities that they serve, and the community partners who depend on them day in, day out to extend the reach of their own services. For some in the community, pets are a vital part of their lives. When you're not making ends meet easily, people should not have to choose between feeding themselves and their animals. But the honest truth is that many in need would often choose to feed their animals over themselves or even remain unsheltered so that they can remain with their companion animals. We at Ohlone Humane Society as an animal welfare nonprofit find TCV to be compassionate, collaborative, and universal in its approach to helping alleviate need and providing choice.

I have been a volunteer at Tri-City Volunteers (TCV) for three years. During this time I have watched TCV move beyond just being a food pantry. The mobile pantry program started with just two sites and in less than 18 months is now serving 20 sites twice a month. I have also served has the coordinator for a High School Social Issue Project that is graduation requirement for all seniors at Irvington High School. TCV has helped students with their research in Food Waste, Food Insecurity and Homelessness. Over the past three years TCV has helped over 100 students with their projects.
With the onset of the pandemic, TCV had to revamp their entire food distribution process focusing on the safety of volunteers and clients. The new distribution process has allowed TCV to serve more clients while maintaining all the Alameda County Health Department safety protocols.

I have worked with Tri-City Volunteers since the mid-80's I think. First in my role at Cargill as a Community Affairs Representative, and now as a retiree.
Before the pandemic I helped out working with food distribution at a site in Newark. Since the pandemic, I have been sheltering - which has given me much time to make masks for several non-profits - including right now for TCV. I have always been proud to work with them, but even more so now. Their volunteers are enthusiastic. When the pandemic hit, they quickly modified and expanded their services to better reach those in need. They work with other non-profits to ensure the health and safety of the tri-cities folks.
I am proud to be a TriCity donor and volunteer.

They help many people and their families. They maintain a good amount of decent food and give out genoursly. Many folks would go with out food if it wasn't for TCV Food Bank. The volunteers are helpful with folks who are English as a second language.
They have helped many get back on their feet. GREAT PLACE!

I have been volunteering at Tri City Volunteers for the last two years. They are a dedicated group of people who are focused on providing food directly to the local community while keeping a positive attitude and having fun.
TCV has adapted to the new Covid requirements and is providing record levels of food through their mobile pantries and curbside drive through.
I highly recommend this group to anyone who wants to contribute to the Tri City community.

Despite operating in a pandemic, TCV has continued to provide nutritious fruit and vegetables to those in need. Over the last few months, they have adapted their model to ensure the safety of the volunteers while managing to serve more and more clients each month.

TCV makes it easy to volunteer, being able to adapt your schedule and to try new things. It has been extremely gratifying to feel like we are in a small way making a difference in our community.

I've volunteered at Tri-City Volunteers for over 4 months now, and it has been an incredible experience. The staff and volunteers are all hard working, and our executive director has a clear vision that we all wish to see realized. I've always wanted to give back to my community, and through this organization I feel like I've truly made a difference.
