Mission: The Children's Fund of the Bay Area (CFBA)is a nonprofit public benefit corporation established in October of 1992 as the Fremont Foundation. The agency changed its name to Children's Fund of the Bay Area during the fiscal year ended June 30.1997. Services are provided through a subcontract with Tri-Cities Children's Centers, a local non-profit. Children's Fund of the Bay Area has become a wholely owned subsidiary of Tri-Cities Children's Centers (www.childrensservices.org). Mission Statement: Children's Fund of the Bay Area is dedicated to enhancing the availability and quality of services to children and families.
Programs: Children's Fund of the Bay Area provides child care and child development services to children from low-income families at a center in Hayward (Alameda County, CA). Services are provided through a subcontract with Tri-Cities Children's Centers, a local non-profit. the child development center is located at a low-income housing complex (Glen Berry Apartments), improving access for families. Families need affordable, quality child care so they may seek and maintain employment as they strive for economic self sufficiency. Families pay on a sliding scale, depending upon their household income. Breakfast, lunch, and two snacks are served each day as a part of the program. In 1999/2000, 32 children were provided full-time services and over 8,800 meals were served. Parents have the opportunity to participate in the Parent Advisory Council to provide input to their child's daily experiences. Parent Education Seminars are offered ten times each year.
