I have seen Fuzion artists perform in various occasions and have also participated in some of their projects as teacher and dancer. My experience with them has always been very professional, organized and conscientious. This group is an absolute pleasure to work with and to watch perform. The artistic directors Leymis Bolanos and Rachael Inman have huge hearts and passion for dance, art, and their community. They present work that is inclusive of and accessible to the community. The dancers are coached and directed very professionally while allowed to bring in their own artistic voices. You can always count on Fuzion to bring you a special show, different, fiery, full of heart and passion. Isa Garcia-Rose Dancer and Teacher
Whole Foods Market Sarasota has hired Fuzion Dance Artists for numerous events over the years. They are so professional, tallented and kind and most importantly a real draw for any event. It's been a pleasure having them here and I look forward to a long partnership. Nikki Heil, Marketing Director
The Fuzion Dance Artists were hired for a photo shoot for a national ad campaign. As we could not find a stage that was available, we needed to do the shoot in a racquetball court. The dancers were absolutely amazing, quickly re-orienting to the space and were able to create some beautiful lifts and holds for our photographer. They even came up with a great idea of using light sticks which we ended up using for one of the final shots. I highly recommend Fuzion Dance for their talent, professionalism and grace. They are wonderful crowned jewels in our community!
The first time I attended a dance program by Fuzion Dance, I didn't expect too much having seen some major companies in large cosmopolitan areas. I was, however, pleasantly surprised. The choreography was top-class and the dancing beautiful. Since then, I have seen them a few more times, once during the opening of an outdoor scupture show where they danced with each piece in a style unique to each sculpture. Another time, they were teaching a crowd of people (young and old) how to do the "Thriller" Dance for a Halloween happening. The director and the dancers are very accessible and friendly and a definate asset to the Sarasota area.
I have been involved with Fuzion since its inception. What makes the company unique is its commitment to community outreach and its diverse blend of artistic input. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the company develop.
As an audience participant for many Fuzion activities and performances I have found the company's Artistic contributions stimulating and diverse. Fuzion's ability to bring Dance and the Arts to a variety of public settings proves their commitment to the field and investment in their community. In that I believe Fuzion provides an invaluable educational, cultural and artistic service to Sarasota and Manatee counties.
Fuzion Dance Artists adds such a unique aspect to the arts community in the area. They are a contemporary dance group with groundbreaking performances that are of the highest caliber. They elevate the arts community in our city. I am so inspired by their performances. They are a must see and get involved with group.
I have watched Fuzion Dance Artists Inc grow and become an integral part of Sarasota County.I have attended workshops, watched performances, and have had the privilege of having them as guest artists in my school.Their work is always innovative, thought provoking, high quality and professional
Fuzion Dance Artists performs outstanding professional shows. But in addition, an unusual and greatly appreciated (or maybe underappreciated) aspect of the company is the amount of effort and work its members put into outreach programs: making dance as an art form more accessible to the general public, using art for social change, diversifiying and refusing typical dance stereotypes, the list goes on... Working with children and adults of all ages, abilities, and socioeconomic status, Fuzion has the willingness and drive to bring dance to anyone. I've heard participants describe their classes in ways from "a great break from the daily grind" to "therapeutic". At New College of Florida, dancers (typically with no formal training) did projects such as site-specific dancing throughout the community and choreographing "self-portraits," which not only developed a better understanding of body movement, but allowed for soul-searching and exploration of self. It's exciting to consider how much they can grow with our community's support.
As a professor at Florida State University, I was invited to set a work of mine on the Fuzion Dance Company. I was impressed not only by the talent and energy of the dancers, but also by the degree of engagement the company has maintained with the community. The level of creativity and commitment from these artists is quite extraordinary. I admire their interest in collaboration, their ability to continually find new ways to develop outreach programs and their wonderful good will and enthusiasm.
Fuzion Dance Artists are a wonderful addition to the Sarasota arts scene, bringing fresh perspective and a diverse voice through the art of dance. I am always impressed by their high level of professionalism whether they are producing their annual performance at the Historic Asolo Theater, making dance appearances at Sarasota events or dancing in the streets for site specific work. Leymis Bolanos Wilmott, the artistic director, is a high energy "go getter" with unique and diverse creative vision. Fuzion Dance Artists need the support of the community to prosper and realize the full benefits that the artistic director along with the collaboration of the dancers can give the community.
Fuzion Dance Artists Inc is a dream come true to the diverse community of artist's and audiences in this country. Led by a tenacious woman of color with unlimited vision, this company will continue to fill our communities and stages with work that represents human spirit.
As a board member these last few years I have seen Fuzion Dance Artist grow as a Modern Dance company not only in performance excellence but also as an outreach program encouraging public and school children to use dance as a tool of communication. The Saturday programs at the Berlin YMCA have reached a wide variety of enthusiastic dancers and the partnership with the Sarasota School District has been a great help to teachers and students alike. This years program, "Dream Series" at the Asolo Theater on Mach 27-28 promises to be an outstanding experience.
A wonderful organization committed to community outreach and growth of the dance world audience! Fuzion Dance Artists performs in all types of venues, from their formal annual concert, to community events throughout the year. The mix of dance styles is refreshing and their community outreach is admirable.
As a person with a background in dance and recognizing a need for a professional contemporary dance company in the Sarasota area, I consented to become a founding board member of Fuzion Dance Artists a little over 4 years ago. With each successive performance of an amazing new piece, I came to the realization that this was not just another addition to the local arts scene but one with outstandingly creative artistic directors. As a testimony to this, Artistic Director Leymis Bolanos Wilmott was recognized in the the November 2009 issue of SARASOTA MAGAZINE as one of 8 "fire powers" and "bright young lights and visionaries." In addition to performaning, the company has always contributed to the schools and the community through their outreach programs.
