Mission: The KAETA Corporation exists to promote an entertaining and educational dialogue between older and younger generations of Americans through shared experiences in the arts.
Our vision is based upon the assertion that a community’s elders are its most precious resource, matched only by the unlimited potential of its children. Further, that there is a profound responsibility within every community to ensure that younger generations are stepping forward into the future with a deep understanding of community history and of those in society who have laid the cultural foundations upon which we stand.
Target demographics: School-aged children ("Kids") and Senior-citizens ("Elders")
Geographic areas served: Greater Sarasota area (Sarasota and Manatee Counties, where possible)
Programs: Retirement Center Show and Tell, Side-by-Side KAETA Choir, collaboration with JFCS (Sarasota)
In a time and place (Sarasota, FL) where there are a great many non-profits who are often searching for ways to be vital, unique, and meaningful, KAETA has distinguished itself for being truly one-of-a-kind and providing a simple yet powerful tool. The connection between those members of our society with years of experience and vast knowledge and young people who have generous hearts and boundless energy is exceptional. A model program which should be mimicked around the country.
There is a lot of heart that goes into Kaeta. What we are learning about bringing an older and younger generation together is the importance of meaningful connections between the generations. When Kaeta puts on a presentation, the elder and youth participants are already on their way to having formed meaningful relationships - then they share their experiences with the community as a further bonding experience for them and an entertaining and inspirational event for the larger community.
Volunteers and contributors to Kaeta can be assured we are experiencing and continue to measure tangible results from our efforts to bring the generations together through the arts.
The knowledge and experiences an elderly person can give to the youth is one of our most valuable commodities. In return an elderly person can
feel revived by the energy of our youth. It's what I think is missing from
our youth is the perspective an elderly person can give.
