Mission: Planning for Elders in the Central City (PECC) provides the leadership and advocacy necessary to bring together seniors, service providers, government agencies, and other stakeholders to solve problems and to design new programs to improve the quality of life for seniors, persons with disabilities and their caregivers. PECC is currently helping launch the Community Living Campaign as a new non-profit organization whose purpose PECC supports.
Programs: Planning for Elders in the Central City programs include training projects like Senior Survival School, a program designed to teach seniors about services available in their community, and Empower U!, a similar training program designed specifically for persons with disabilities. Our Digital Bridge project aims to help seniors, persons with disabilities, and homecare workers to learn computer skills for self-advocacy and empowerment. Healthcare Action Team(HAT) is a coalition of community groups, consumers, and other interested persons that work together to solve healthcare and hospital issues. The IHSS task force brings togehter all the stakeholders in the IHSS program to solve problems, while the Homecare worker Empowerment Research and Organizing Project (HERO) works to improve issues that affect caregivers.
