Mission: Northern Lights Alternatives is committed to improving the quality of life for children and their families who are infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS by providing social and emotional support through volunteer-based programs. Founded in 1987, NLA is the second oldest HIV organization in New York City, touching the lives of some 1,000 youngsters each year. Volunteers serve as buddies/mentors, visit children in hospitals and clinics, host parties and outings, and serve as special summer camp counselors. We are continually seeking new volunteers, donations of goods and services, as well as financial contributions, always with the goal of reaching more needy youngsters who rely on us in their darkest hours.
