Causes: Art Museums, Arts & Culture
Mission: Emergent art space is a non-profit, international arts organization created to support art students and emerging artists around the world through a website that allows young artists an opportunity to contribute work to thematic, curated, and juried shows and to participate in an international social network. Emergent art space encourages young artists in school or under 26 years of age to submit their work. It will facilitate intercultural education and communication on the role of art and artists in global society.
Programs: Emergent art space ("eas") organized a live international exhibition on the theme "crossing borders" at somarts, san francisco, from june 8 through june 20, 2013. The exhibition consisted of 37 works by students and young artists from 20 different countries (including india, china, slovakia, and uganda. ) two events/receptions were held, with the participation of several hundred people. Several of the students came from as far as new york and mexico, and interacted with the viewers presenting and explaining their works. The feedback about the exhibition was extremely positive and encouraging. Many of the attendants underlined the uniqueness of an international exhibition of work by art students. Eas was invited to take the exhibition to tijuana, mexico, and seoul, south korea, furthering the mission of creating a dialogue among young artists from diffferent countries and cultures. Eas has started the preparation for these two new exhibitions.
