Mission: To improve the quality of life and create a healthier tomorrow for new yorkers with special needs in the hispanic and broader communities by providing culturally competent health and human services and a continuum of affordable and supportive housing.
Programs: Comunilife provided approximately 438 units of permanent housing along with a range of social services for persons living with hiv/aids.
comunilife provided scatter-site supportive housing and case management services to approximately 615 chronically mentally ill adults and operates 20 community residence units for persons with serious and persistent mental illness.
comunilife provided transitional safe haven housing for approximately 108 homeless people at a time.
the vida guidance center provides approximately 18,800 units of mental health counseling each year. Life is precious, operated out of the vida guidance center, is a suicide prevention program for latina adolescents, who have the highest suicide attempt rates in the nation. Clients rent, development and management fees from the partnerships. Comunilife's medical and social respite program provides temporary housing for hospital patients who are medically cleared for discharge but do not have a home in which to recuperate. As part of their stay patients receive case management services including assistance securing permanent housing. Life is precious is comunilife's unique suicide prevention program for at-risk latina teens ages 12 to 17. Located in three centers in new york city, this non-clinical program provides activities after-school and on saturdays which include creative arts therapy, academic support, wellness activities and concrete family services. All services help abate the issues that led to the at-risk behavior.
