Mission: Asphalt green, inc. ("asphalt green") is a new york city not-for-profit organization dedicated to assisting individuals of all ages and backgrounds to achieve health through a lifetime of sports and fitness. Asphalt green has two campuses in new york city (the "city"): one on the upper east side ("ag") and the other in battery park city ("agbpc"). The ag campus includes the george and annette murphy center; the aqua center (which houses the city's first indoor, olympic-sized pool open to the community at large); a superturf playing field; dekovats park; and sundial plaza. Formed in 1972, asphalt green converted an abandoned municipal asphalt plant into a sports and arts center with two gymnasiums, basketball courts, and an indoor running track. Programs for young people are designed to challenge the intellectual, creative and physical abilities of the participants.
