Looked around on petfinder.com for a pit or pit mix puppy and came across an ad stating they had puppies with no pictures. So I put in an application to see more about them and I received a text message the next day with pictures of the 3 dogs stating they would be up for adoption on Saturday at BarK Park in Saint Louis... so we decided why not go for Hera or Athena and whoever we like more, will come home with us. Well, we ended up with both girls and renamed Hera to Artemis. But that isn't the bad part... we got them home and they stank like a sewer, were coughing nonstop, and were getting over some sort of skin issue. We took them to the vet 3 days later only to find out they had 3 kinds of worms including hookworms, were malnourished for a prolonged period of time, Athena had damage to her cornea, and they had upper respiratory infections. I think those pups would have died had we not taken the 2 that we could. It cost us over 1k in vet bills to get them healthy with at least 3 different kinds of meds and several baths. They also have some sort of previous trauma that has caused a temperament issue with them and people. I am fully convinced these dogs were a used and I was not disclosed any info on their health or predisposition alike. They are healthy and happy now with 2 older sisters, I just can't help stay up at night thinking about the boy we left behind... we can't save them all but we can spread the word on a faulty non profit. I am calling it as I see it, please adopt don't shop and don't use this rescue
Beware of this agency adopting out cats with feline leukemia, which is highly contagious among cats and fatal. We had doubts about adopting from this agency, as the animals there seemed to be too skinny. We ignored the red flag and went ahead and adopted our kitten, hoping we could save her from a not so good situation and nurse her into a better condition. From day one, she struggled with diarrhea. When we took her to our vet, she tested positive for feline leukemia. In the days following, she steadily declined (weakness, not gaining weight, incontinence, etc) and we are now facing the decision to euthanize to save her more suffering from this ultimately fatal disease. Who knows how many other cats have been infected and are being adopted out to families without them knowing. Fortunately, we don’t have any other cats in our home to infect. But I would absolutely steer clear of adopting cats from this agency, especially if you already have other cats in your home.
Was interested in a litter of German Shepherd/Lab puppies and put in an application immediately after seeing them on Petfinder. Was then told that all the puppies were spoken for. She then told me I was a great applicant and they would be more than happy to accommodate me with another puppy from a different litter (different breed, etc). However, I saw one of the puppies back on Petfinder and immediately reached out to the lady who I assume was in charge of the whole rescue and she said the puppy was back up for adoption. I told her I was interested and she then gave me the number for the foster to reach out and set up a day to go pick him up. The foster told me I could come get him the next day and I was more than up for that. The foster then texted me a few hours before I was supposed to pick him up that the family who originally backed out “changed their minds” and that he was no longer available. I explained that it didn’t seem fair for them to tell me I could adopt AND pick him up the next day and then let the family who backed out in the first place to then reclaim him. I explained to both the foster AND “lady in charge” that it didn’t seem fair that they did this but ended up being ghosted by them both. Worst rescue I have ever dealt with.
We were looking on Petfinder for a cat that would get along with our 5 year old american shorthair Teller. We inquired through email, and were told very curtly that they were having an event at a Pet Supply Plus on a Saturday. We went and it was absolute chaos. The Humane Society doesn’t allow you in and is only by appointment during this time due to Covid. There were 4-5 workers and at least 30 people that came to see the dogs and kittens. There were no lines and it was first come first serve, everyone was in a small space, so the safety of the animals and people must have been of little concern. There was little time for people to spend with the dogs and kittens to get a feel for their personality, so we went by what little the staff told us, which was that this female cream tabby we got to hold would be great with another cat, and said she was 11 months old. This cat was very sweet and purred a lot, so we thought she’d be great. We filled out a short questionnaire, that they didn’t look at at all. As long as we paid the fee they said we were free to take her, which should have been a red flag. Another shelter my mother adopted a cat from cared about the cats’ well being, and made sure to do a thorough background check after you filled out the extensive amount of paperwork. It took about a week or two and THEN you were able to take the cat home. We wouldn’t have minded this, however, everything they told us about our cat was either a lie or a lie of omission. She does NOT get along with our cat at all, and we introduced them slowly, he is very easygoing too! They also didn’t train her AT ALL, despite saying she was in the system for a LONG time. I would be okay with training her, but they didn’t mention ANYTHING about her food aggression, and it turns out her paperwork says she is 2 years old (which I know that they just estimate if they find her off of the street, but the fact that the employee either didn’t know anything about our cat or was willing to lie about her age to get her adopted out speaks volumes). It seems their priority is the money and not the pets’ safety or if they have forever homes is incredibly disappointing. I know it is my fault for being impatient and not doing thorough research, but I hope whoever is intending to adopt a cat will be better prepared than I was. Terribly upset with their service and I am never adopting here again and and telling everyone I know not to also.
I asked about adopting a kitten through email. The woman did not answer any of my questions. She just told me the kittens would be at a Pet Supply Plus. If this organization Is truly trying to adopt out animals they would be more helpful, pleasant, and informative. This was my first and will be my last time trying to adopt an animal through All New Hope Rescue.
This lady is still operating out of the Brentwood Pets Mart, without a licence, still takes cash only money, and sells sick dogs. She needs to be stopped.
This rescue has been nothing but phenomenal in helping fur babies and getting them homes with the perfect matches. I would recommend them to everyone!! They have my 100% backing!!
