Review for All New Hope Animal Rescue Llc, Saint Louis, MO, USA
We were looking on Petfinder for a cat that would get along with our 5 year old american shorthair Teller. We inquired through email, and were told very curtly that they were having an event at a Pet Supply Plus on a Saturday. We went and it was absolute chaos. The Humane Society doesn’t allow you in and is only by appointment during this time due to Covid. There were 4-5 workers and at least 30 people that came to see the dogs and kittens. There were no lines and it was first come first serve, everyone was in a small space, so the safety of the animals and people must have been of little concern. There was little time for people to spend with the dogs and kittens to get a feel for their personality, so we went by what little the staff told us, which was that this female cream tabby we got to hold would be great with another cat, and said she was 11 months old. This cat was very sweet and purred a lot, so we thought she’d be great. We filled out a short questionnaire, that they didn’t look at at all. As long as we paid the fee they said we were free to take her, which should have been a red flag. Another shelter my mother adopted a cat from cared about the cats’ well being, and made sure to do a thorough background check after you filled out the extensive amount of paperwork. It took about a week or two and THEN you were able to take the cat home. We wouldn’t have minded this, however, everything they told us about our cat was either a lie or a lie of omission. She does NOT get along with our cat at all, and we introduced them slowly, he is very easygoing too! They also didn’t train her AT ALL, despite saying she was in the system for a LONG time. I would be okay with training her, but they didn’t mention ANYTHING about her food aggression, and it turns out her paperwork says she is 2 years old (which I know that they just estimate if they find her off of the street, but the fact that the employee either didn’t know anything about our cat or was willing to lie about her age to get her adopted out speaks volumes). It seems their priority is the money and not the pets’ safety or if they have forever homes is incredibly disappointing. I know it is my fault for being impatient and not doing thorough research, but I hope whoever is intending to adopt a cat will be better prepared than I was. Terribly upset with their service and I am never adopting here again and and telling everyone I know not to also.
