I fell in love with a cat I saw in PetSmart, and I immediately emailed to let them know I'd be applying. They were extremely short with me, and seemed to not care. On the lengthy application, I was honest and said I had a 7 (almost 8) year old cat and puppy.
They called two days later -- from an Unknown number -- and asked the weirdest questions for 10 minutes. It felt like an interrogation. I felt judged by the cold man with whom I spoke as he found it shocking that I mixed dry and wet food and didn't just have bowls of food left out. His tone was very condescending.
He waited until the end of the arduous interrogation to tell me he didn't think the cat would be a good fit, as she didn't like to be around his other foster cats (which raises the question -- why would you foster?), and was hoping she'd be placed with an "older" cat. Seven is not old enough - he was thinking, he said, 12-14. He was quick to recommend other cats that were bonded, said he would text me that information, and never did.
You're better off going to HS or heck, even getting a breeder at that rate.
If anything, the cats there need to be rescued from the organization.

Please look at their Yelp reviews before considering adopting from them. There's a reason they don't do Google reviews. My family is still reeling from their customer service.

They are a rescue that truly cares about its animals. They go above and beyond to ensure all cats that come into their care are healthy and well cared for. Their adoption process is stringent - which I would expect no less from any rescue worth the name. I have had my kitty for 12 years now, and am grateful every day for 9 Lives and their efforts.

Worst non-profit I have ever seen. Truly horrific people who do not want to find homes for the cats. Would not recommend to anyone. This organization needs a major reinvention on how they run and operate.

9 Lives Rescue is now a very small cat rescue but over 25 years has had dog programs. Even rescued rabbits, Guinea pigs, and a donkey. Military wives and husbands were the first volunteers.
Rescue means taking desperate needy animals. Each year gets more difficult and expensive. Each year we get fewer volunteers and costs are higher. We pride ourselves on NOT selling but adopting these pets to the best matched homes. We love animals!

9 Lives Rescue has operated with volunteer members for 25 years now. Started by Military families since transferred. Volunteers are always needed to do office duties and fostering in private homes, or to be trained to work in the adoption center in PetSmart at 2965 New Center Pt. off Powers Blvd & Constitution St. Check out the comfortable and clean kitty kennels. The cats are well provided for and happy. They do not live in the store.

Cats/kittens are shown daily from 9a.m. to 7 p.m. Donations of money and cat supplies are always needed. Volunteers to feed homeless kitty colonies in evenings are needed. Any kind of dry or canned cat food is accepted to feed them and can be donated by calling 9 Lives Rescue hotline (719) 591-4640. Your donations are tax deductible since they are a licensed 501(c) non-profit charitable animal rescue. And, they need your help to pay veterinary bills for abandoned and older cats or kittens needing emergency medical care.

This small group of volunteers has worked daily for many years with too few people.
They do not sell the animals, but adhere to strict policies and criteria in adoptions. Sometimes their dedication to the "furry children" are not understood but 9 Lives volunteers are dedicated to finding the best safe and caring forever homes.
