I stayed at the Dream Center Peoria, IL & they say they make miracles happen highly doubtful, Several incidents while I stayed there the 1st incident the day I walked in there to stay the 1st night spoke to a woman about staying there didn't show me anything just made me fill out this paper (intake form), she did show me the kitchen that's it, the same day this woman I choose to keep anonymous was telling all of us in our dorm(room staff called a dorm), well anyway this woman was telling all about her past job with the government but new shelter director Juan said she had dementia but for someone who sure dementia sure knew a lot about that place Juan says was not factual but upon further conversations with people that knew the Dream Center told me all about the same thing she said the place is infested with bed bugs, drugs, prostitution, & that's not all they make you eat with your hands & drink out of a bowl like a dog, The 2nd day there was another woman who said one of the guards sexually harassed her & again Juan said this was false upon further investigation it was accurate, that Juan swore was false, & threatened to sue her for slander but it was not slander this woman told the truth because I had doubts because of Juan's attitude & I investigated it myself & turned them into the FBI to one of my US Marshall friends because it just didn't sit well with me buy Juan's blunt denial of the incident, if you access Facebook on your phone they monitor it & if you tell something about them they delete the post, & they kick you out for it one of the girls that stayed @ The Dream Center accessed her Facebook page & wrote a review about the Dream Center & they kicked her out for a month. I posted about them & immediately got told about it 3 times one from Juan, One from the Shelter Director & 1 from the staff of Dream Center acting as though it was the worst thing I could've done by posting a review on Facebook. Mind you everything that was posted was factual.

The non-profit organization Friends of the Children of Haiti, and its founders, meant so much to me that I wrote a book called The House of Life about their work in Haiti to help bring health care and hope to the Haitian people. I spent 5 years volunteering with the organization, and I spent three years writing the story of how the founders came to build a medical clinic in Haiti sud-est department to bring awareness to the incredible work that they do. Friends of the Children of Haiti helps over 15,000 Haitian patients every year, and the founders, Dick and Barb Hammond starting going to Haiti in the early 1980s to support the needs of the people they met there.

It's worse this year. While there are plenty of scam organizations taking advantage of people to the tune of 80-90% of their income going to the fundraisers, in this case the firefighters actually LOST money because the fees were so high by the professional fundraiser scam artists.<br>

RRSC is an amazing organization dedicated to help stroke survivior and their caregivers to continue to live a active and happy life after the trauma of a stroke. Many survivors feel embarassed and isolated after a stroke. This organization brings together survivors and their caregivers for a weekend of fun and education. Survivors get to interact with others who have the same life difficulties, One camper can help another to overcome struggles they have conquered themselves. Caregiver learn from another ways to cope with the changes in their lives as well. I have volunteered with RRSC since their beginning in 2004. The founders are a stroke survivor and caregiver, so they understand and can empathize with all involved. A non-profit worthy of your support.

Quite frankly, I would never donate to this organization. Based on 2013 financial reports, Neighborhood House (Peoria, IL) spends a whopping 48% (+/-) in salaries with nearly 10% going to management! Either this charity it top heavy or the top is way over paid! This also tells me (and you) that they would much rather spend their funds on themselves than on people and programs for the community. <br> <br>PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU DONATE! THERE ARE BETTER CHOICES!

All churches have music, sermons, and programs, but sometimes fail to be meaningful regarding real-life issues. I had almost given up on going to church before finding Imago. I have a newfound belief that churches can be real, can make an actual difference in the community, can handle real questions, and can be a place that I'm proud to be part of. I feel at home here.

I have been affiliated with Goodwill for the past six years. This organization does great things to help the under-employed find better paying jobs. They have serveral free training classes from forklift training to enhancing your resume. Additionally, this Goodwill supports our veterans through free training and through providing a place to live at their veteran's home. This is a great organization.

My daughter who is now 16, has been receiving therapy here since she was 6 months old. This organization is truely a life saver. The physical/occupational/speech therapists are the best in Central Illinois. The ornganization is extremely well organized and no child is ever declined help sue to a lack of ability to pay. This is one of the top three social service agencies in central Illinois !

The organization is very well structured and does a great job.

The Hult Center is a fantastic resource for all ages. I visited the Hult Center as a child, and now my son visits with his school. I also learned that they provide free services to cancer patients and their caregivers, as well, which has helped my family and friends through tough times. Counseling, nutrition information, massage, exercise classes and much more, all free for those who need it most. The staff is amazingly great with kids. They aren't just teachers, they are performers! And my son talks about the Hult Center visit for weeks after going. It is truly a gem in our community.

I have been blessed to be a part of LLP and to see first hand how the generosity of the volunteer pilots has helped hundreds of children and adults reach their long distant medical appointments!

From the first time I helped this group rehab the home of an elderly cancer survivor, I was hooked! I am still amazed at the amount of home repairs this group can accomplish through sheer volunteerism with no paid staff and no cost to the homeowners. As a volunteer, I derive great personal satisfaction when I see a homeowner's face light up at the end of the work day, often with tears of appreciation. As aboard member, I am in awe of the numbers of volunteers mobilized each year, and am proud of the financial stewardship that limits administrative expense.

PFHOCS gives to the most needy people in the area. I think their service is one of a kind and their passion to provide is second to none.
