I have been dealing with Prairie State on an eviction case. The person I talked to said she was an attorney on one call and told me she was an intake person on another. She was extremely rude and non sympathetic each time I spoke to her. I also received the incorrect Legal advice from her, so I was blinded-sided when I actually went into court to represent myself. They told me I made too much money for a lawyer from them. I literally make 1415.00/ mo which is BELOW poverty level. When I told this unnamed woman I was a student going back to school, she said let's hope it's not for Economics...it was very hurtful. As you can imagine I asked to be switched to a different attorney/intake person and she hung up on me. Before she hung up she told me her supervisor is Melissa Fuechtmann. She would not give me her name or a number to call. Very strange and misleading. Hours wasted.

Greyhounds Only is a MAGNIFICENT 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization located in the Chicago area. My family and I have volunteered, fostered and adopted many glorious retired racing greyhounds over the years and can tell you first hand this is a truly wonderful group comprised of hundreds of dedicated and selfless people. It is through the generosity of our donors and volunteers (we are an all-volunteer run organization) that we are able to find homes for as many retired racing greyhounds as possible. These fast dogs retire from their professional racing careers and come to us from not only our great nation, but from several other countries in need of loving homes around the world. Our rehoming process ensures they will all spend the rest of their retired lives as cherished pets. 100% of each donation goes into fulfilling our mission whether it's providing medical care and space in our kennels or foster homes and by supporting education and outreach to raise awareness about these wonderful dogs. This non-profit is absolutely amazing! They do incredible work to help keep our children safe. I am truly amazed by how many levels they do this work on such as, advocacy, education, research, and development. They are truly inspiring and I cannot wait to see more great work from them!

Lullalee is an amazing program that fosters the sense of efficiency in children through books and the message of 'finding your special gift!' Seems simple but in fact is a wonderful palpable thing to ponder that may ebb and flow in your spirit at any point in your journey of life...whether it is at their carnival themed literacy events or general overall community advocacy where countless books and inspiring educational tools have been donated...Lullalee is a very unique and special organization I'd love to see the presence of all over the world!

Caters to wealthy families of neurotypical children in my low income neighborhood. Playground rarely used. I don’t know why this is a non profit when they charge thousands in tuition but offer very little in the way of scholarships.

EAC is a one-of-a-kind place that Central IL is fortunate to have. They are focused on the word Ecology: the relationship of people to their environment. It worked in the 1970's and it still works today. This definition allows them to go many directions and yet stay true to their purpose. They work to educate, train and involve the community. They start young by taking their message direct to the schools. They are always open to discussion about new directions to go. Their amazingly small staff cover so many bases it is a wonder to watch. They highly deserve financial support and praise from the community they serve so well.

When I think of Kids Around The World I think just one thing, WONDERFUL! I have never been on a trip to put a playground in but I have had the opportunity to remove a playground. I have helped get these playgrounds around to be shipped to the desired locations. The whole refurbishment process is hard work and we are very thankful for here at the East Coast location in Watsontown, Pa to have a great bunch of folks that come together and knock these playgrounds out for shipment. <br> <br>I look forward to many more years helping out this organization in any way that I can. The purpose of this organization to impact the lives of children for Christ should warm everyone’s heart. From a finance point of view from what I have seen Kids Around The World does an amazing job of stretching every dollar. while i am an attorney, it has been my passion to open doors for our lgbtq folks to enter whatever profession they wish; i focused on pastors, the armed services and the political world…those doors are pretty much open now, but there is still sooo much work to do, and ELM on the church-side of my passion is doing exactly the right things…i am so proud of my involvement, of the continued work and vision being done by my successors, and so proud also of those friends before me who so early on saw what needed to be done to have lgbtq candidates accepted in pastoral ministry and began this work 25 years ago...

The Foundation supports the educational activities at the David Davis Mansion site in Bloomington, IL to connect visitors and students with the Davis family's story, particularly their connection to Abraham Lincoln and their impact on life in Central Illinois. <br> <br>Outside the mansion, Sarah's Garden is a major asset to historic gardens in the U.S. Many of the plants are 100+ years old, chosen to Sarah Davis herself. It is not a recreation, but a restored original garden. <br> <br>I have volunteered for this group for six years and it has been a pleasure working with the site staff, our board members and the public who support the mansion's programs. It has been one of the most valuable experiences I've had in local volunteer service. The mansion brings people together in a special way! <br> <br>From the site's website, you can learn more about the DDMF's mission: <br> <br>The David Davis Mansion Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, incorporated in June of 1986. Its mission is to help the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency engage, enlighten and entertain visitors with the stories of the site, of the David Davis household, and of their special relationship with Abraham Lincoln and others. <br> <br>The Foundation's membership is comprised of mansion volunteers and citizens in communities throughout the nation who support the mansion through private fundraising efforts. This is a WONDERFUL organization with terrible new leadership now. Its such a sad thing to see when an entity has the means and capability of changing more and more lives but constantly focuses on the negative workplace politics. It shows in the management how the other staff works, and working with this organization, they have such wonderful employees who truly care. I am afraid though with the President they have now and her negative attitude will effect everything in the coming future!

Cabrini Connections and its partner, Tutor/Mentor Connections, is one of the most comprehensive and forward-thinking tutor/mentor programs in Chicago and perhaps in the country. In my interactions with the program and its founder, Dan Bassill, I've been repeatedly impressed by the ways in which TM/C utilizes social media and technology in order to make Cabrini Connections, as well as tutor and mentor organizations throughout the city and beyond, more effective and efficient. I don't think any other tutor and mentor program focuses as much on the bones of organizing, implementing, and advertising programs and ideas connected to tutoring and mentoring as does TM/C.

The UCEF is an extremely well organized cost effective organization that assists hundreds of students who otherwise could not afford a college education. It also supports many orphans/street children, the handicapped and many other needs in the Ukrainian community. I can not think of an organization where money is better spent.

As a coach in this organization, it is my opinion that the people in charge have stopped caring for the league. The organization of the league is haphazard at best at the coach and parent level. Phone calls to the commissioner go unreturned. The phone number listed for northwest is disconnected. A Verbal Request for copies of tax exempt documents went unanswered, and now i have been forced to make a written request. This does not give a favorable image when most Non profit organizations will glady let you see their documents. The league is dying in the hands of the current board yet they seem in different about it. One board member abandoned his team at a game that he himself scheduled, and left a 12 year old in charge against adults.

PFHOCS gives to the most needy people in the area. I think their service is one of a kind and their passion to provide is second to none.

The Building Fund, has given me a chance to see a part of the world that I have read about and hear stories about. I traveled with members of The Building Fund to Ghana, this July 2008. The tour was excellety arrange by Jessyca Dudley, and allowed me to see the great work being done by The Building Fund, as far as allowing young students to receive a better educational opportunity. The Building Fund was well received at both schools and the adminstrators expressed, words and actions, how much they appreciated the work of The Building Fund. I will be working with The Building Fund to help in any ways I am able to.

The Cystic Fibrosis Institute is doing some marvelous things for people with Cystic Fibrosis. They are developing new and innovative ways to help grow the awareness of Cystic Fibrosis. Also they help encourage children and young adults with Cystic Fibrosis to live their lives to the fullest.
