It's worse this year. While there are plenty of scam organizations taking advantage of people to the tune of 80-90% of their income going to the fundraisers, in this case the firefighters actually LOST money because the fees were so high by the professional fundraiser scam artists.

In looking up this organization with the Attorney General's office in Illinois, I discovered that 80% of the money goes to pay for fund raising, and no where on their tax return does it show money going to the disabled firefighters. Which tells me basically that they are doing little to no good.
