Mission: Peoria Friendship House Of Christian Service was founded in 1951 by the Peoria Council of Churches to enable communities of faith to reach out to Peorias communities in need.
Programs: Community support/emergency services - offers assistance with basic living needs to families and individuals in emergency situations by providing crisis intervention in the form of food, clothing and rent and utility assistance. Rent/utility assistance - approx. 100 people served; food pantry - approx. 3,700 people served; other community development - approx. 300 people served.
educational programs - provide education, spiritual counseling, and transitional services; after-school program and summer camp program provided a safe learning atmosphere for approx. 40 children.
dress for success - friendship house serves as the fiscal agent for dress for success peoria; through this program, women are provided with interview-appropriate clothing and follow-up assistance to help them become self-sufficient; the program assisted approx. 500 women.
