A Warning About Sober Living America – Deeply Mismanaged and Unsafe
I am writing this review to strongly caution: anyone considering Sober Living America (SLA) as a pathway to recovery. While SLA presents itself as a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals find sobriety and structure, my experience was the complete opposite. This facility is poorly managed, unsanitary, and alarmingly unsafe.
1. Health Hazards and Living Conditions:
The facilities are infested with bedbugs; a serious sanitation and health violation. These infestations were found in both beds and rooms, and despite repeated complaints, staff took no meaningful action to address or resolve the issue. No one trying to get clean should be forced to live in these inhumane conditions.
2. A Sobriety Program in Name Only:
Despite its mission, SLA fails to enforce any real standard of sobriety. Substance abuse was widespread during my time in the program, with little oversight or intervention from staff. This is a dangerous contradiction for a program that claims to be a stepping stone to a sober life.
3. Rampant Theft and Zero Accountability:
Theft is a common occurrence. Residents’ belongings are routinely stolen, and staff seem either unable or unwilling to respond appropriately. The environment is chaotic and unsafe, especially for vulnerable individuals seeking recovery.
4. Inappropriate and Unprofessional Staff Behavior:
Some staff members insist on being called by nicknames, projecting an air of unprofessionalism that undermines any sense of structure. A particular staff member, an employee with driving responsibilities believed he had the authority to discharge clients, acting with an inflated sense of power that went unchecked.
5. Retaliation for Reporting Problems:
Perhaps most disturbingly, any attempt to raise concerns or ask for accountability was met with immediate retaliation, often resulting in discharge. This silencing of residents fosters a culture of fear and dysfunction, and is absolutely unacceptable for any organization—especially one receiving tax-deductible donations and charitable funding.
Final Thoughts
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Sober Living America has an ethical and legal responsibility to provide a safe, supportive environment for recovery. Based on my experience, they are failing to meet even the most basic standards. Donors, community partners, and regulatory bodies should take a hard look at how this organization operates.
If you are someone seeking help, or if you’re a family member looking on behalf of a loved one—please explore other options. Recovery is too important to risk in an environment as broken as this one.
I think this is a great place they really look out for me I mean Canton Georgia and the people here guest service and the director will help you through anything you're going through I just want to thank them for everything they're doing so if you need help don't be scared don't be shy reach out can't in Georgia is changing my life thanks to you all
My name is Scott V. I am an alcoholic with 5 months sober
Without the help of sober living I might not be alive today. This place was exactly what I needed when I got out of treatment care. The structured life and help they provide is life changing. Came here with no money. They helped find me a job. Provided transportation to and from work also to meetings everyday and church on Sunday
Great curricula program also. If you need help and want to give living a clean life. It's a good place to start
My name is Thomas Mull. I came to Sober Living of America on August 27, 2024. Since coming to the program, my life has changed so much. I was homeless and being here in Sober Living of America Newnan Campus has been a life saving blessing to me. I have a full time job, I attend both AA, NA, Church, and Community Meetings. Mr. Warren and Mrs. Brenda have been amazing staff here that care about us and our journey in our recovery. Thank you for all you have done in my life.
I graduated from a six month rehab then was released with no money, or job, or even a place to go. SLA took me in and through their program I was able to find work, get a car back, and begin planning for the next stage of my life. I’m thankful for this program and recommend it to anyone who is SERIOUS about recovery.
Hello my name is Alex I got to sober living America about a week ago. So far I really have not a single thing negative to say about this program and probably will not have ever negative thing to say this place has given me an opportunity to give me my life back I was a fentanyl addict who wanted to die everyday I woke up. This place is thrown me right into the middle of recovery they take us to meetings every day we have awesome spirituality groups different types of groups where we have an opportunity to share as a group build our unity we have great camaraderie. The staff is very attentive to our needs hard working even when they have downtime they still make time for us. Thank you again SLA I am so grateful for this opportunity!!
I am very grateful for SLA. I finally feel as though I can breathe. I can exhale...
Not to mention that the feeling of being able to give back is truly amazing
Almost 3 years ago I made the call to the help center that completely changed the trajectory of my life. I had hit bottom AGAIN. I'd exhausted relationships with family, my own son who was 13 at the time was even done with me, I had no money, and the only 2 outcomes I could see for myself was prison or death. I was on probation, had violated, and there was a high likelihood that the outcome of the court proceedings was going to mean many years behind bars. So, to be honest death seemed like the more preferable option. I was tired. I was physically and emotionally tired, tired of constantly trying and failing, of constantly getting my families hopes up and letting them down. Tired of failing as a mother, a daughter, hell as a human - and I definitely didn't want to live out the next 20+ years in prison, so ending it all was definitely tempting. But, obviously I didn't go that route. I decided for my son, my family, and myself I'd at least try.. one...more.. time. Before I left detox I got back on depression medication and set to calling a safe option to go to. Going home wasn't an option, I wouldn't last and I knew it. I'd been in recovery before, had a couple years under my belt, had worked the 12 steps... but I'd slowly stopped doing them. A problem I had was balancing life with what it meant to BE in recovery. Plus I was a heroin addict... so I ended up lying to myself thinking "I can drink alcohol, no big deal... I won't drink the same way I used." Wasn't long after drinking occasionally turned into daily, and excessively, then I was right back to using heroin. So before leaving detox, I heard of SLA, made the call and qualified and the rest is history. Because they don't require money upfront, the fact my family was loving me from a distance didn't matter. I was able to do it on my own, as far as the financial part. SLA allowed me to be in a place that while offering some accountability and supervision, I wasn't cutoff from society with life completely on hold. You get to still feel 'normal'. To live in an apartment, work a job, have a cellphone, go to the store, have over-night passes. These are all "small" things, but to those that have been in other treatment programs you understand what I mean. To those that have been to jail or prison, you get what I'm saying. People can sometimes be reluctant to go into "treatment" because they think certain rules are privileges are "rights" and fight against the guidelines that are in place. SLA has some rules, curfews, etc but it's not so rigorous that I find it unreasonable. Not for what you can get out of being here. Now don't get me wrong, it's not "perfect" at any of the locations. No program is. But the way I look at it, is you can go into one of these locations looking to pick it apart or have a victim mentality and completely miss out on the bottom-line. The bottom-line being it's a safe environment, safer than the streets.. safer than sleeping in your car, under a bridge, couch hopping, or at the mercy of yourself with no recovery. The bottom-line is you can come in with NO MONEY UPFRONT and have a roof over your head, lights and water, transportation to a job that you don't have to go out and find, transportation to recovery meetings where you can find a sponsor that will take you through the steps, and a curriculum that if you will honestly dig into it will help change your mindset. To be honest, there's more... but it requires an attitude of gratitude to see it. And it requires willingness and humility to really get anything out of it - and that's going to be true regardless of where you go. Today, for me, because I made that call to the helpcenter - I will have 3 years sober in September. I am happily married and in a HEALTHY relationship with trust, support and partnership. We both have our family back in our lives, a child on the way, and are at a place now where we can continue to grow and invest in a future. I don't believe this would have been the outcome if SLA had not been a resource that was available to me, so for that I am extremely grateful!
I have been with Sober Living for almost 5 years. It has been a great journey for me both spiritually and for my sobriety. This program has played a vital role in helping me get plugged into both God and a Recovery network that spans over multiple states. I highly recommend this program to anyone that is looking to get out of the grips of addiction and start a new way of life.
SLA saved my life. I was broken, on the verge of losing literally everything, and close to serving time in prison. As scared as I was, I came in a gave it a shot. This was in 2020. I never left. Still haven't. This place gives you the extra accountability you need while giving you space to also grown on your own terms. I had to relearn how to be an adult, and they held my hand every step of the way. I don't even want to think about where I would be right now if I had never found Sober Living America.
I have been with Sober Living America for close to 2 years, this time around. To me it has been a complete life changer. I have been a guest at several different locations and have learned something positive from each of them. The fact that they really do give second, and sometimes 5th and 6th, chances is amazing. And their "no money, no problem' policy to get in was extremely helpful. I would recommend this place to any and everyone who is struggling with a drug or alcohol problem.
I recently had the chance to stay at Sober Living America in Tampa, FL, and it was an incredibly positive and transformative experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and supported, largely due to David in guest services. David's dedication to ensuring every guest feels at home is truly remarkable. He goes above and beyond to address any concerns and provide the necessary resources for a comfortable stay.
Equally impressive is Charley, the director, whose leadership is marked by genuine care and commitment to each individual's recovery journey. Charley's approach is both compassionate and effective, creating an environment where residents can thrive.
The entire operation is seamlessly guided by Thomas, the regional director, whose wise and strategic oversight ensures that all aspects of the program run smoothly. His vision for Sober Living America is evident in the quality of care and the supportive community atmosphere.
One of the standout aspects of the program is the emphasis on building a strong, supportive community. The weekly bowling nights and beach trips are not only enjoyable but also essential in fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual support among residents. These activities provide a healthy outlet for stress and an opportunity to bond with others on the same path to recovery.
Adding to the overall experience is the fantastic climate of Tampa. With its warm, sunny weather year-round, Tampa offers an uplifting and invigorating environment perfect for outdoor activities and fostering a positive mindset.
Overall, Sober Living America in Tampa, FL, is a remarkable facility that offers comprehensive support for those seeking recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. With dedicated staff like David and Charley, under the wise direction of Thomas, residents are in excellent hands as they work towards a healthier, sober life.
The most pro⁵fit non profit organization I've ever encountered. Visit guidestar.org. the regional director showing favoritism when a fratanization occurred the man was allowed to stay. Extremely unprofessional they put additional in management that are not ready for the position. It's pretty much a way to make money off the needy people who need help . There is no one on one help or help to find the true reason for their addition so they can correct their issues.
Sober Living America will always be my family! I wasn't sure what to expect, but once I got there, it was the greatest decision I ever made. They taught me how to love myself. They taught me that I was worth recovery. They showed me how to live my life clean and sober and what steps I needed to take to do so. I can't even imagine where I would be today if I had never decided to take their offer on a new and better way of life.
My experience with Sober Living America has been great and very supportive. I am from Sober Living America STL and my director is Judy Moua and she is the best.
I came here to Atlanta Women's SLA, homeless from a Detox Center for Alcoholism. I was scared, homeless, and nervous. From the very first I was made to feel welcomed and loved. I just finished the 6 month course and will stay here as long as possible as I consider it home. I love the women here and try to be as welcoming to them as I was welcomed. The staff (Misty, Jen, and Karrie) are very helpful and extremely nice.
I have not been here lonh but so far it is GREAT !! they have provided me with work, transportation to work and all my meetings while also helping me learn how to stay off drugs and live a normal productive life !! And best of all i didnt need a dollar to come here !! They have provided me with everything !!
This place is not good for recovering addicts.I was there. They are a BUSINESS!I got kicked out for talking to a female. The true reason is because I was black. Also they lied about the reason I got kicked out to keep my money. They said I was selling drugs! They stole my money by lying!!! Please call me and I will show you proof they lied to take my money..I am teaming up with every organization that wants this program shut down..You should not exploit addicted people..
No place is perfect but after coming to sober living america in Macon, GA has changed and helped my life. Meeting many different individuals with many different situations let's me know that I'm not alone and there is help out there. All SLA members treated me with respect and help me with my tuff times through my recovery. I'm truly blessed to have come here
Ramirez Williams thanks
At the Chicago location and they have saved my life. Zach and Greg are always helping me even when I had lost hope in myself. Grateful.
Sober living america saved my life help me get sober and gave me tools and recourses to keep me sober as well as financial responsible.
This organization helps so many people. No money, no problem. They also promote from within. Saved my life. Very resourceful in the community, help get you to work and save money.
SLA has provided me with the environment to become sober, grow spiritually, and serve others who suffer with drug/alcohol addiction. The tools I have acquired here are useful in my every day endeavors to maintain my sobriety and be a productive member of society. Sober Living America has created an environment where I can be of service to God's children while also benefitting my recovery and spiritual growth. I owe the newness of life I am experiencing these days to SLA and love being a member of their team.

This program is awesome. The staff there are great. They helped me out alot. It's one of the best places you can recover overall. It's a clean and safe environment with resources that can change your life. I would definitely refer anyone who may dealing with addiction and wants to change their life.
I'm at the Birmingham AL location and this place saved me when I was in the most vulnerable situation I've been in. I couldn't recommend this place enough for anyone trying to find recovery.
I'm at the St Louis location. This is a great place to stay clean and sober. SLA offers so much more than the other programs I've been to. They actually care about my sobriety. If you want to learn how to stay clean I encourage you to give them a call.
Many people are complaining about SLA these days, but to be honest with you, "there are no perfect programs" However, if you are ready to get sober, back to work, or go to school and get on course with your life, SLA is the place for you. I am a proud graduate and I have been able to achieve many of my goals. SLA's curriculum has made a significant impact on my life-I have 253 days of clean time and became an AA Sponsor. All Programs Work If You Work It.
This place saved my life. They help you when other places can't. They get you a bed, help with employment, take you to meetings it's an amazing opportunity to get sober and back on your feet. They offer fellowship and friendship when you need it the most.
Hello. This is for Sober Living of America in Greensboro North Carolina. I am a current tenant of this facility. This program has inconsistent meetings. There is no morning meetings and I am told I only have to attend the meeting at 7:00pm. This is absured. People care about their recovery. I care enough to mention this world wide to ensure the safety and care of others. Thank you for investigating
Sober living America was been a huge tribute to my recovering process from drinking.and drugs.i was in a bad place when I first heard of sla they offered to pay for my ticket to Jacksonville 2 and but me up.i have grown as a person and more importantly have stayed sober and working the program to my best ability and have made a group of new friends that are going through some of the. Stuff I am
Absolutely Amazing place to get your life back. Come as you are and they will get you where you’re met to be in life. Specifically the Jacksonville 2 location has great management. Mike is a dedicated guy in recovery that just wants to be a helping hand in your life. Stop struggling in silence and call SLA!!!!
I've been here for a while now and it's really a good place to be I've been able to really work the 12 step program and I have a great group of friends that really care this is it man it works
I am blessed to be at Sober Living America. Here you will learn to cultivate spiritual principles and
a willingness to cultivate them. Our fellowship of like minded individuals is what makes us unique and allows us to support one another in our journey to sobriety. I came here with nothing and here I am gaining everything it's a 6 phase program but many stay for years they don't have enough s to rate as we call it SLA
Sober Living America has truly changed my life for the better. I am so grateful for this program, and my community here in Houston TX. I love being of service to others, and the rewards I get in return. If it wasn't for SLA, I would not be alive and sober today. God is good!
Sober Living America is a program that really cares about everyone who comes through it's doors. They helped me get food stamps and I went to work quickly. They even purchased a pair of steel toes so I could start working. This program changed my life and it can change yours too if you're ready for a change!
I came here as a person beaten down by addiction. With nothing in my possession except a bit of hope and willingness, I quickly began to realize this place was just the new begining I so desperately wanted. This organization asked me for no money up front, provided a safe place to live, lined me up with a job, and even provided transportation. I don't know of another sober living in Houston that provides transportation to and from work. This place is for people who are ready to work an honest program, and are willing to do things not just to stay clean and sober, but to learn life skills.
My name is Mickey, I'm so blessed to be a part of this wonderful program that has helped me restore my life. They have helped me build a steady foundation and the tools on which to create a better life upon. By introducing me to a sober network to create new relationships with people that help me stay on this path with God by my side and understanding that I need to have him in my life and surrendering my life and complete will over to him. They have also helped me have accountability In my life choice to help ensure on resetting my ways of thinking to be able to pause before making decisions and to play the tape forward to make the right choices.
SLA has changed my life! The principles behind the program are Godly and extraordinary. I came to SLA from another center and was greeted with kindness and love. They give you all the tools you need to succeed and focus on God, Sobriety and life skills to help everyone integrate back into successful members of society. I hope to continue to thrive In the program and give back what has been so freely given to me.
Sober Living America has saved my life in so many ways, not just one. I came here with the intention of just staying clean and sober. I came in doing what I was supposed to do and this amazing company took a chance on me and I've now worked for SLA as a director for nearly five years! Coming here made me realize that God's purpose for me was to help others and I decided to run with it. Thanks to SLA, I've learned not only how to stay sober one day at a time, but to put God first and to put others before myself. I am truly grateful for SLA and all they do to help people!!
I found out about Sober Living America in December of 2008. Arrived in Jacksonville 12/8/22 and was welcomed with no judgment to a clean and welcoming facility. Since then I’ve been introduced to the program of AA and have been given all of the tools necessary to live a happy and healthy life while being a contributing member of society. I would highly recommend this program to anyone battling addiction for anyone that has a loved one who is.
SLA has taught me how to utilize the tools of recovery to stay sober. It has allowed me.to use the tools.in a safe environment with some structure so that I can use them on my own in everyday life. Would recommend this program to anyone who has had enough and is willing to take suggestions that will save your life and create a whole new one to enjoy.
Im glad I had the chance to go to the Nashville Men's campus and completed their program. The staff is amazing! They have introduced me to myself. They have helped to get to the root of my problems so that I can now recover. I don’t know who this person is that I am becoming. But I LIKE him. If you are willing to be challenged and do some research/work on yourself and you are seeking sobriety, they will guide you on your journey!
I went to SLA in Atlanta as a last ditch effort to turn my life around. I'd lost everything & everyone a person can lose in life. I had no one. Nothing. I was a lost cause. A wasted life My whole family had washed their hands of me & I was beyond lost. I had nowhere on the planet to go. Then I went to SLA Atlanta. The Women's Director in Atl, as of Feb2023 talked such a good game. I fell for her facade bc I so desperately needed what SLA FALSELY PROMISED ME. I abided by the rules. I got clean&sober. I didn't fraternize. Did my Big Book & Step Work. Went to church. Groups. Meetings. Then after several weeks, my family could see a difference in me. Saw how hard I was working the program. Saw that I had finally found a place that was helping me get back to being me. There was no excuses, no incidents, etc. Just me doin the dang thing. THEY CAME TO SEE ME IN PERSON AFTER NOT EVEN TALKING TO ME FOR OVER 2 YRS! I WAS ON TOP OF THE WORLD. Then the Director of the Atl Women's Campus ruined everything for me. She literally kicked me out for accidentally spilling my cup of ice water in church. I WAS LITERALLY KICKED OUT OF THE PROGRAM FOR DROPPING A CUP OF ICE WATER ON THE FLOOR IN CHURCH. I DID NOT BREAK ANY RULES, DID NOTHING WRONG AND SHE KICKED ME OUT ONTO THE STREETS WHICH IN TURN, ALMOST KILLED ME.
If you want to get yourself cleaned from drugs and alcohol? SLA provides the tools to do so. It's a great program but you have to be willing to get your life back together. They do provide jobs and take you back and forth to meetings. You will not find a better program for what they charge. I'm at the Birmingham campus and I love it here.
When I came to Sla it was the only program that would except me at the time. Since then my recovery has grown immensely! Here at the Tampa 2 location I have found peace in my sobriety.
SLA has gone above and beyond helping me stay sober and staying plugged into recovery. They provide transportation to and from work, doctor appointments, meetings and stores. They have kept me encouraged and motivated - excited about recovery, and prayed over me. I’ve been to other drug rehabs and lived in other sober living environments, but SLA is a game changer. I can’t say enough good about this program!
When I came to Sober Living America, I was in all sense of the word...hopeless...I had nothing to my name or in my pocket...I had more than a broken spirit...They truly welcomed me with open arms...they took care of my immediate needs IE...Food stamps, clothing, food bank...they even helped place me into a job...Within the first 5 days I had been assisted with finding a sponsor, getting an AA Big Book and 12&12...and with the on property meetings, they helped lead me into a closer relationship with God and truly gave my life hope and meaning again...to this day I am still a part of AA and have been sober a little over a year...I can't completely thank AA for my recovery...but I can damn sure give them the credit they deserve for holding out their hand and showing me the way based on spiritual principles and suggestions! If you know a friend, co-worker or family member suffering with addiction...I highly recommend referring them to SOBER LIVING AMERICA.
The past couple years, as flown by and I have nothing to show for it , except burned bridges with family , I smoked meth everyday all day , never missing a beat , me and my gf lived the high life and those 2 years flew by , before I could even blink , I wrecked ,/lost 3 different vehicles, had multiple jobs , used and abused ,and stole from My family, I hit rock bottom, it was either jail or rehab , I was so lost ,but I made the decision , sober living is where I ended up and I can tell you that my life had done 180 degree turn , in just 20 day all I had to do is nothing, and stop using , you will be amazed the amount of help you will receive once in here , give it a shot it's worth it , and I can say that it's a much better choice than jail ,or worse dead
I'm at the Tampa 2 location. My experience has been great. Everyone seems to genuinely care about me and my recovery.
Very friendly and helpful place I can't describe how much they have impacted my life I am very grateful for the opportunity and have already recommended ASL to multiple people

Hey I am CJ wood and I am at Tampa too and I just wanted to let you guys know that this place is saved my life I wasn't on board at first but now I'm SLA all the way the staff are absolutely amazing I can go to them with anything any issue that I have and this is my home and I'm safe and I have a warm bed to sleep in and I have everything I need and when I don't have everything I need all I have to do is ask and it is given freely thank you so much for having me and thank you so much for loving on me I couldn't have made it without this place and I'm sober today because of SLA
I've been feeding my addiction since I was a 10 year old boy and woke up early in February and decided that at age 37, I needed to leave that behind. I was an educator but my addictions became so severe that I could not in good conscious continue molding the young minds under my charge. After a long road in detox centers I decided that I could not enter society and expect different behaviors from myself without seeking help, so I decided against going back to my hometown or my adopted hometown and wound up in Atlanta. This organization has welcomed me with open arms and given me a new lease on life. They've given me structure, community and, most importantly, the tools I need to continue my sobriety in effective and efficient ways. If it weren't for such a caring community, my demons would most certainly overtake me and I'd be back at square one...fighting to survive the relentless grips of this disease. Being here has given me the want to carry out God's will and helped me set achievable short term goals and the desire to get back to what what I was born to do: teaching.
I am new to Tampa 2 and have never been happier. The focus on Recovery here comes from a kind, loving place. Staff is fantastic and always makes time for each and every client. The campus is beautiful. SLA is changing my life. I have purpose, hope and peace.

I came to SLA in desperate need of sobriety, the staff welcomed me with open and encouraged me throughout the process. The best thing about SLA is they allow you have regain a sense of dignity. No matter how low you think you are they will give you the opportunity to rebuild your life through recovery. Coming to SLA is the best decision could have made.
I'm currently at SLA's Tampa 2 location. SLA has been a huge part of my success. They have provided me with a safe, clean, respectful place to live. Provided me with a fantastic job and transportation to amazing meetings. I've been able to establish a good relationship with my children again. Thanks to the supportive staff at SLA I am now on the right path in recovery.
I realized on my life's journey that i have come to a great place. Before i was a self centered and a lousy drunk. I came here at SLA 4.5 years ago and talk about a real life changer . SLA has Showed me the way through AA to stay clean and sober. I also connected a relationship with Jesus my lord and savior.
SLA is a amazing program love it and everyone is very helpful and very nice glad I made this my choice to come here
I feel the program is very incitefull. And the tools they give you seem to pe help full. I think it will help me to be a more productive citizen.
I have been living at Sober Living America for over a year now. They helped me in finding work, building a sense of community, and most importantly staying sober. The location I stay at is in Tampa FL, and the staff here are very kind and extremely helpful. I'm glad they were here when I needed help and would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for help when it seems noone is there for you.
I came to SLA in 2018 and it has truly changed my life. Since I've been here I have been introced to the AA program and now have a relationship with God. I have gained the tools I needed to learn to stay sober. My family is now back in my life and I'm very grateful. Without God, SLA and AA this would not be possible. I highly reccomend anyone struggling with addiction to call SLA.
Sober Living America gave me the tools I needed to be successful in my recovery to stay sober with purpose full of loving motivation. SLA Savannah gave me routine and structure teaching me how to apply skills I was seeking so that I could get my life manageable and maintain sobriety through the 12 steps and faith in God. The teachers here have the best interests and sincerely want all of the members to succeed. I got another chance at life and am truly grateful to this program. Mr. Walter Banks, Mr. Chris Hutto, Mr. J. Jerema have made a big impact in my life and I have the upper most gratitude for them, THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND EVERYONE IN THE PROGRAM! I love my life and love God. I wish everyone a healthy and full recovery one day at a time. God bless with love. - Jordan Vargas
I'm glad to be a part of a group of human beings who are trying for change. Big up to Walter Banks and the staff for truly wanting these men to succeed. So grateful for the St. George group of Savannah SLA.
Sober Living was the best decision I could have made to better my life. I’m so grateful for them. I am at the Savannah location and it has been just a great and new experience for me
I've been with this program for little over 6 months now. When I started my program back in NC I didn't think I would make it. But I put one foot in front of the other and kept pushing. I now live in Tampa and live a clean and serene life. Sober living of America has giving me the tools to change every area in my life. From self-care on down to getting out of my own way to help others. I would recommend this program to everyone who suffers from the disease of addiction. The staff cares about the residents as if they were family. I'm truly grateful for SLA.
SLA has taught me how to use the tools of recovery in my life to be successful. I would recommend this to any one willing and ready to change their life for the better.

#SLA Spartanburg I have been here over 9 months and this has been a blessing in disguise. I came to SLA broke, busted, and disgusted and have been able to develop into a great leader and role model that my family always knew I could be. I was given suggestions and decided to take advantage of them and run with them and I have never looked back. I have been able to deal with life on life terms and very stressful situations and maintain my sobriety only for them to make me stronger. I enjoy waking up in the morning and thanking God for another glorious day. I have come a long way and it all started with a few simple acts of kindness that was shown to me through once strangers that really cared. Would recommend this life giving program to anyone in need of help because that is what SLA has people in place to do, help and give back what was so freely given to them.
I came to SLA because I was badly addicted to several substances. Once I arrived the staff treated me like a friend and they really cared about my well being. They provided meetings on property and off. They provided for me what I could not do for myself. I am glad I made the decision to come to SLA.
I am at the Tampa1 location. I cam to Sober Living America to stay for a month. This organization not only changed my life, but also saved my life. I have been here ever since. That was 8 years ago.
I came to Sober Living America almost 17 months ago with nothing but a suit case full of practically nothing, I was homeless, hopeless, and addicted. I was fighting a CPS case for my youngest child strung out on meth and heroin and couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. Since my stay as a resident, working the 24 week curriculum based program, my involvement with Alcoholics Anonymous and my wonderful sponsor I finally have a life worth living today. I started out as nothing when I came here and now I am the Program Director of one of our Houston locations. I am present for my children today, I trust God today, and most importantly I get to help others today and give back what was so freely given to me from Sober Living America today. If you are struggling with addiction or have a loved one that is, Sober Living America offers the opportunity to break the vicious cycle of addiction and I would encourage any and every one to come to SLA to find a new way to live.
I’ve been at Sober Living America for about 6 months now and can honestly say, “this program is the reason I’m Sober and able to carry on”. Sober Living America has been the roof over my head, the meetings that helped my mind, and the Community that made me feel like family, Because of their Staff and Residents and Community; my mind, body, and spirit are stronger and more at peace then ever before.
I came into SLA with a duffel bag and not much hope or even desire to go on. I was struggling mentally, emotionally, financially and spiritually. As soon as I sat down to do my intake at the Marietta 1 campus I knew immediately that this was home. SLA was my why and I felt it instantaneously. So often in my addiction I struggled with why I was still alive and why I hadn’t been arrested and so many other why questions. When I came to SLA I found out why. Shortly after my arrival I was presented with the opportunity to come on to staff as a Guest Service trainee and I did. I went through training and learned invaluable information while gaining memorable experiences. The instructors are compassionate about recovery and it shows. But even more than simple recovery, they are compassionate period. Kenneth, Jerry, Tiffany, Caylan, Danny, Jason, and Justin are just a few of the amazing staff members and teachers who passed on knowledge to me that I have been able to use to not only stay sober myself, but to pass on to others as well. After guest service training I was selected for Director Training, which I entered and completed. I have now been blessed and entrusted with an opportunity to lead my own campus in Ft. Worth. I am currently surrounded with a group of men and women who have healing, sobriety, and growth on their minds. And even still I have a support system in place that is there to teach me and guide me as I continue this path. SLA isn’t perfect, and I won’t begin to lie and say it is. Do we have relapses? Yes of course we do, we are all addicts. Do we have people who mess up? We obviously do because we are all humans. But, at the end of the day there are far more positives than negatives and there are way way more good people than bad. Our directors, guest services, drivers, regionals, instructors, etc are all people in recovery who maintain their sobriety while also guiding others in their own paths of sobriety and for the most part, the majority of them do a very good job. No one is perfect. No one is flawless. But we all strive to be better each day than we were the day before.
(INDY) has been instrumental in my pursuit of happiness. During this process I've grown mentally, physically, and spiritually. From the beginning (with the no cost requirement to move in) I was able to focus on my purpose. Rather than the distraction of initial financial obligations. I have classes that educate me on the disease of addiction. It's helpful to me to learn all I can about what it is I'm up against. I get to go to outside meeting's which allow me to fellowship with men & women with whom I share a common goal. Instruction on how to stay stopped (one day at a time). I must say, along this road of recovery I've gotten to know myself. Some of the character traits I like (other's not so much). Being honest with myself enables me to see what I need to work on. With that, it's having the willingness to do so. Sober Living America (Indianapolis) has (more than sufficient) job tickets, and provide transportation to & from. Where they do that at? SLA (INDY) is not only in place to assist me with structure concerning my addiction; it also results in my becoming more manageable in my life overall. Meaning I'm becoming self supporting. I could go on & on about this opportunity. Which is exactly what it is ... An Opportunity! One that my gratitude has no end. If you, or someone you know are struggling with addiction. Take the first step into a bright future via Sober Living America ( Indianapolis) I did
I have given posting this review much consideration and prayer. I have concluded it is the morally right action to take. Ethically, I am convicted that this information should be shared.
I will construct the following comments in the order of Pros and Cons followed by concluding points. I must mention that my knowledge of SLA is limited to the Southeast region of the US, specifically North Metro Atlanta. I will use the terms “guest(s)” and “client(s)” interchangeably. I will utilize the term “visitor(s)” to indicate those who are on-campus to see clients, i.e. family, friends, partners, etc.
PROS:
-Prior to my stay in SLA, I was warned how trying it would be to get sober and stay sober in SLA. Recovery, I believe, is not for the faint of heart. SLA provides a surplus of additional requirements and difficulties which challenged me to pursue recovery with my whole being. I am stronger for it.
-When I came to SLA, I had no funds, no insurance, and nowhere else to go. There, I found a bed, a roof over my head, access to local food pantries, and eventually a job.
-I built a handful of healthy friendships with people in SLA who were actively pursuing recovery.
CONS:
-I was asked to complete a Google review of the company mentioning my campus the day after my admission, obviously with no experience of the program. It does not surprise me that so many reviews are positive as directors, and guest service employees check to make sure the review was posted. It doesn’t make sense to leave a negative review for a company that warns you upon admission that they make kick you out at any moment.
-SLA promotes 12-step based recovery. Yet, apparently, directors are not required to have thoroughly worked a 12-step program, have significant time engaged in lived sobriety, or be actively working a program.
-Directors often “play favorites” with guests, deciding who they like and dislike. This system is reminiscent of the hierarchical systems of prison rules and relationships. Whoever makes it onto the radar of the director as a less-than-favored person is often punished, held back in curriculum, or discharged. Favored guests frequently break rules with the director’s knowledge and suffer no consequences.
-Directors “borrow” money from guests but never repay them.
-Directors have paid clients for sexual favors then been relieved of the director position only to be placed on staff at a different campus.
-SLA dictates that fraternization should not occur between guests and that guests are not allowed to have visitors in their bedrooms. However, this ruling doesn’t appear to apply to directors, as directors have been known to date one another and even stay several nights in one another’s rooms. Directors are housed on-campus in the same apartments as guests.
-Guests have been known to fraternize with one another or have “visitors” (sexual partners) in their rooms over night. Even with knowledge of this, directors have chosen to make exceptions as it suited them and render no consequences.
-Directors have been suspected of using yet no drug tests were required of them.
-Directors have claimed that guests failed drug tests when no drug test was administered. -Directors were suspected of falsifying drug test failures yet not required to provide proof.
-Clients were restricted from taking necessary, life-improving psychiatric and medicinal medications simply because they would trigger false positives on the cheap urinary drug tests.
-Clients were told they would be discharged as they could not work immediately following near-fatal health issues or severe injuries.
-SLA promotes faith-based, 12-step recovery. However, clients were allowed to skip out on “mandatory” church attendance whenever they liked if the director favored them. Additionally, many recovery meetings were not 12-step based.
-The staff (directors, guest services, and drivers) are not required to have substantial knowledge of or experience with the 12-steps, even though they lead required meetings on the steps and readings from the book Alcoholics Anonymous. Staff would frequently have little understanding of how to apply the steps their own life, opting only to read and re-read materials created by SLA.
-Directors showed little concern for clients exhibiting mentally unstable behavior, including but not limited to untreated bipolar, untreated schizophrenia, paranoia, learning disorders, delayed development, and suicidality. The only time they displayed an ounce of concern was when authorities got involved, not for the individual themselves but for having to relinquish control over the situation.
-SLA seeks the support of local community resources such as food and clothing pantries/donations as well as financial donations from institutions like local churches. Financial donations are typically used to cover the programs dues for living at SLA. However, guests were advised they could only seek these donations through the director. Thus, the director had to approve it. Again, favoritism resulted in clients being denied this resource. Guests that took to seeking their own support without permission were reprimanded or discharged.
-Staff frequently ignored phone calls, texts, and GroupMe messages from clients.
-Drivers exhibited unsafe driving practices and showed aggression towards clients.
-In some instances, directors have known that guests were actively using and/or drinking while in the program. This behavior was allowed to continue without repercussion.
What do these experiences tell me overall about SLA, if I’m basing it on what has occurred at these campuses?
SLA employs inexperienced, unqualified, unprofessional staff. SLA prioritizes financial gain over any genuine concern for the recovery or wellbeing of clients. SLA campus structures and practices excessively resemble the hierarchical social relationships exhibited in prison. SLA staff are spiteful and manipulative, relying on favoritism to judge and rank clients. I would say that SLA is toxic and dangerous. Varying forms of addiction are taking the lives of people everywhere, and this program does so little, if anything at all, to bring any glint of solution to the problem. SLA does not uphold values deserving of its claim of being either 12-step based or faith-based.
The Oklahoma City Sober Living America location has provided me with the structure and accountability I need, especially coming right out of a treatment setting.
I was able to find a job, get a phone and food stamps in one day because of the transportation they provide.
Their curriculum has helped me with my recovery plan by going the meetings, finding a sponsor, working the steps and setting goals.
Sober Living America has provided me with a safe and supportive environment. If you are coming out of treatment or looking for a solid recovery environment I recommend SLA
I’ve been a resident in sober living America since August and since then Ive not only maintained my sobriety I’ve been learning tools to help me along in my recovery. I felt welcomed and safe, being a female that’s important when moving and living in a new place around ppl you don’t know. I didn’t have to worry about transportation or stress about looking for employment. I’m a felon and am on probation, but SLA had resources that helped me get a job an make decent money. Over all so far I’m vary happy with the program and how the treat the Residence with respect kindness and understanding I would recommend sober living in America to anyone who is considering a sober living program
This is my second time here, at Sober Living America. The first time I got comfortable and forgot that this is a battle that I have to fight for the rest of my life. This time I will do the program for me so that I can become a function member of society and live a clean and sober life. Sincerely yours Alexander Ingram.
If you are looking to get clean and stay clean, SLA Dallas2 is the place to do it. If you're looking for a free ride, not for you. Director and staff saved my life.
Hello all I'm Donald Hughes Just got into the he Dallas #2 campus. Loving he people and Jeff made it easy to understand with the entrance process. I would hope they recommend this campus
My girlfriend died of COVID-19 and I was lost and suffering from drug addiction I needed someplace to start over again and get some help God led me to Jacksonville Sober Living I am now clean and sober working and attending AA meetings l strongly recommend Sober Living America
My experience at SLA is beyond what I imagined. This serious but simple program was a lifesaver for me. The staff and guidelines are absolutely people friendly to those of us in need of a new way of life.
Came here for recovery. The staff is very helpful. They give you the tools to recover but they don't hold your hand. You have to want it and work for it. You have to take responsibility for your actions.
a scheduled (and without saying, stuctured) life similar to what I imagine most sober, functioning adults live. And with that said, I feel better about myself as a recovering addict. I feel closer to success than I've ever been, and it's because I know I doing right (finally).
Jayden Luffman -
SLA is the greatest rehabilitation facility I've personally ever been to, and i thank the lord, family, and Summit Ridge for directing me here to get help with my substance use and abuse. The staff here is genuinely the sweetest and most kind hearted people I've ever met in the entirety of my life on this earth, the residents here are also really helpful. I've never felt more at home since a little child. You can tell God is working in this facility, just because the spirit in everyone here is 100% genuine. I've been to one other facility I've went to in Dekalb Georgia and that one was a -6, while on the other side is SLA, the best and the upmost respect is being shown and taught here. I will recommend anyone I find that's struggling with addiction like I still am. I absolutely love this place. I forgot to mention the work ethic going on here, just superb.
Thank you everyone working here, much love.
My story is simple but yet very much so complicated. I started smoking drugs at a very early age. Through the year's I've dealt with nothing but heartache, disappointment, sadness most of being a disappointment to my mother and hurting her mentally and physically buy pawning her things and making her go and pay to get them back cause I had no money I done smoked it all up. Long story short I got in a little trouble and Had to do a little time. After I was released I figured why not start over and try this thing called sobriety and just see where things could go. see what results I could produce being sober. So now I'm In in a residential transitional housing recovery program. And got me a newly started job, making pretty good money.ive been going to meetings and doing a little networking here and there. So I know it's going to take me a minute but I feel that I'm on the right track. So far so good very blessed and highly favored
In my personal opinion you would be hard pressed to find another program with as great a success rate and as much amenities as SLA!they will truly change your life for the better!
Sober Living America is such an amazing program! I have been to many detox's, programs, meetings, etc in the past and none of them seemed to work. When I arrived at Sober Living America I was greeted with open arms by the kindest and most caring staff. While there, they helped me connect with God again. I felt safe, loved, valued, and suddenly not so alone anymore. I can go on and on about Sober Living America and what they have done for me. They provided me all the tools I needed to stay sober today and continue to grow. I eventually came on as a staff member and now have the opportunity to help others the way I was helped. I am eternally grateful for this program!!
My name is Mitchell and I am a resident of Sober Living America at the Greenville 2 location. This program is excellent for recovery and learning to live a sober life. They provide housing, work, transportation, and recovery. This program is a blessing as well as the staff members who help us daily. Thank you SLA.
My experience with Sober Living America has been a great one. They taught me the 12 Steps of recovery and how to live a better sober life. I am at the Greenville 2 location and this program has saved my life.
I've been here at Sober Living Of America for a year now. I was deep in my addiction of alcoholism I nearly died from it. This place is really the place to be to help with any addiction that is destroying our lives. They help you with jobs and getting into A.A meetings. They provide a new structured way of living to stay Sober. I'm glad i found Sober Living Of America. I honestly don't know where I would be without this place or without GOD.
I am currently residing at Greenville 1 and so far my experience is great,Wally is a great guy and he is all about recovery and helping his guys recover and live better lives,I am grateful to be here and glad to get what I can to be a better person
Since I decided I want to get sober I went to SLA and it has been wonderful. They've helped me get a structure back to my life that I couldn't keep myself. I'm relearning how to be me again, the me without drugs and how to be happy again.
SLA Jacksonville Fl. Has been a great step in my journey of recovery. Staff is friendly. They understand no one in recovery is going to be perfect. They get you into employment quickly. No sober living community is going to be perfect, no living situation is. SLA does their best to provide you with to tools to work on your recovery.
I'm addicted to opiates, if it weren't for sober living of America I don't think I would have made it. The people in this program saved my life.
SLA saved my life. I was broken, beat and in a dark spot in my life. Coming into the doors to open arms helped me relieve the things that held me captive for so long! Now I'm able to give back the tools that was taught to me to others. They showed me love! As a Director I do the same. Thank you SLA!
Sober Living America changed my life. They got me off the street and into an apartment and employed very quickly with little hassle. They provided transportation to and from the meetings and also helped me in my recovery.
Sober Living America has helped change my life for the better. I have been to 14 of their many locations and pretty much had the same experience on each campus. The way the program is outlined helps a knucklehead like myself learn discipline and consistency. The campuses I have visited are clean, safe, and welcoming, and help me to relax and focus on myself and make a lifestyle change. The different staff members really show that they care about me through their actions. They have giving me tools to help me with life situations and help me stay sober. I have found God, reconnected with my family, and even saved money, none of which I could do before coming to this program. My plan was to come here save money for a car and house, but I have far exceeded my expectations of these goals and decided to stay and continue to grow personally, financially, and spiritually. The goals have since evolved to me sacrificing and giving back to help someone else obtain what this company was able to provide for me. it truly has been a life changing experience and I am so grateful they took me in with no money and planted seeds, they are producing meaningful fruit.

This program literally saved my life. I came here over 2 years ago broken, hopeless, and beaten down by my poor decision making and consequences of those decisions. I had nowhere to go and no money to get there if I did. My family was fed up with me and I was just waiting to die, speeding up the process with drugs and alcohol. They took me in without an entry fee and introduced to me to a better way of living. They welcomed me with love, patience, tolerance, and a discipline I so desperately needed to stay focused and sober. I found God through the curriculum and meetings they offered. They help me learn how to budget and save financially, and maintain and appreciate all the new material things and relationships God blessed me with in this new sobriety. I made mistakes and they loved me more and supported me through those tough times. If you really want to find a new way of living and not just existing, or just want to be sober, this is the place that will help you and give you tools for an unimaginable life. I am forever grateful for what SLA has done in my life and allowing me to see it happen to so many people who take what this program offers and applies it.
Sla truly saved my life and allowed me the opportunity to integrate a relationship with God into my life. I was able to find a sponsor and obtain a network of people in recovery that truly has my best interests at heart. I wouldn't be where I'm at today if it wasn't for Sla and God.
from lost to found. from broken to whole. I came into SLA not caring whether I walked back out the door or not. I learned how to live life on life's terms. I was loved until i learned to love myself. I was taught life skills I had no idea I needed. Would highly recommend to anyone wo is looking for a new way of life.
When I say Sober Living America Saved my life. I truly mean it. I had lost all hope and desire to keep going. because of circumstances beyond my control..... No Money. Amazing program for anyone struggling with alcoholism and addiction! Gives you the structure and introduces you to a 12 step program. Gets you a job in the first week and provides transportation to and from work, meetings, church, doctor's appointments, and stores.
I have fought the disease of addiction and alcoholism for 35 years. I entered 9 different rehabs and sober living places during that 35 years only staying sober for 30 days at a time. I would go back out to the same chaotic life every time. I am now 8 months clean thankws to Sober Living America.
I came in as a resident to the Greenville 1 location in 2018. I have now been the director of the same campus for 3 1/2 years. This place is amazing and has saved so many lives. From day one, walking into a place that puts recovery over money. If you are looking for a place for you or your lived one to find recovery SOBER LIVING AMERICA IS THE PLACE
i have been a resident at marietta 2 for a month. staff is great. apartments are nice. all in all i’ve found this place to be very helpful towards my recovery.
I'm a resident at Marietta 2 and I've been here going on 4 months. I just want to say that our new director is awesome and this program has given me a new outlook on recovery and hope for the future!
My name is Chris Davis and i came to this program when I realized my life was unmanageable and that I needed stability in my life . I was homeless bc I had burned so many bridges and my family had turned my back on me due to my bad choices and drug addiction. I waisted 15 years of my life and I was in and out of jail and prison , even attempted suicide a couple times . Long story short . I absolutely love this program and I give it 5 stars . Also I want to add that the campus is awesome as well. We have the best director/ regional director! Thank u Scott caris and Bryan Dowd . Y’all saved my life and I’m at peace now. I luv u guys !
THE S.L.A. HAS GIVEN ME BACK HOPE AND MY LIFE BACK ITS A SLOW PROCESS BUT I HAVE GOOD PEOPLE TAT ARE WIT ME EVERY STEP OF THA WAY THEY WORK ME HARDER BUT I KNOW IM WORKING TOWARD A GOAL TAT I WANT AND NEED IN MY LIFE THANK YA S.L.A. IN CANTON AREA FOR GIVEN ME LIL BY LIL MY LIFE BACK
I came to Sober Living America September 2020. Before I came in, I had been struggling with drug and alcohol addiction for 38 years. I am not the same woman I was when I walked into the doors of SLA last year. I was introduced to the 12 step program and I was lead into a relationship with my high power who I choose to call God. Because of the SLA guidelines and a few simple suggestions , living the 12 steps and having a recovery sponsor. i now live a life of freedom from addiction. I am able to love myself. One of the great things about SLA is their vision of NO money, No problem. I had nothing but a pack back when I came in. No money. They accepted me into their program with open arms. I am forever grateful for SLA.
Sober Living America has saved my life! They provided me with everything that I needed to succeed from work boots, clothes, food stamps, etc. Plus, the meetings they offer onsite as well as the facilities are on point!
SLA helped me to turn my life around. Without them who knows where I would be. It gave me time to focus on my recovery and start working on myself. Thank you so much SLA.
Sober living helped me transition into a sober responsible adult again. This program teaches men and woman how to be accountable.
I started my journey in 2019 I honestly wasn't serious about my recovery at that time I needed to deal with court consequences that is what first got me there. I did fail because of that reason and ended up worse that before. When I asked to return I was given another chance and took it seriously now I am approaching 18 months of soberity and now have accountability and reliability in my life. As a result I have good quality relationships with others and can keep the things in life I gained. I was invited home for Christmas not from a since of obligation but because my family wants me to be there so it will be my first holiday that I have attended with family that I am wanted in many years and I wouldn't trade that for anything in the world.
When I first got to the Atlanta 2 Men's Campus I was homeless, broke, and had no idea where I was going in life. This program has given me the tools I've needed and the opportunities I'd hoped for in order to succeed in life. They have been able to help me get a reign in on my addiction and enabled me to find a great relationship with a god of my understanding. They have done for me what I was unable to do by myself. A special shoutout to Kenneth Woods and Brandy Saunders who have helped me greatly and allowed me to grow and succeed alongside many others!
My name is Jeff Davis. I'm a Regional Director for Sober Living America. I came into SLA May 7th, 2018. I struggled with drugs and alcohol since i was 17 years old. I came in looking at 20 years in prison due to multiple drug charges. The funny thing is I had been living a double life, teaching school and coaching football but drinking and doing drugs also. It took 28 years for me to get to the point of complete surrender. On June 13, 2018, I overdosed and died in a motel. I am very fortunate I'm not a statistic. I have been sober now for 2.5 years and because of SLA, I have found a new purpose in life. I have found a new career with SLA and helping others like myself.
Sober living actually saved my life it's self sufficient what you put in is what you get out of it it taught me how to take things one day at a time I've meet some great some people and patched up my relationships with my family I'm so grateful to be here
Sober Living America has played a major role in saving my life through recovery. Coming here right after right rehab was the best decision I ever made, and I am so grateful for all they have done for me. From the very first day I was here the staff has been caring, accommodating, and motivating. They truly love on you until you know how to love yourself, and even then, they love on you some more.
Sober Living America was suggested to me, and I am so glad that it was! I didn't know what to expect when I walked in the doors in Birmingham Alabama, but it was everything that I didn't know that I needed. I had never been really introduced to the 12 step program of Alcoholics Anonymous. I needed the other guests to tell me that I wasn't alone and that, they too, had the disease of addiction. SLA was able to show me the path to recovery, and then I was able to show others that same path. I can't imagine where I would be today if it weren't for Sober Living America. They will always be my family.
I came to Sober Living of America a broken person. They have led me to develop a relationship with God and the 12 Steps. It has completely changed my life. Today I am sober, happy, and truly blessed with gifts from God.
I had been battling addiction for 26 years. I was at the end and felt that there was no hope. I had lost my family, my home, everything. Sober Living America took me in. They gave me a job and a place to live. They taught me how to live clean and sober 1 day at a time. Now I have almost 4 years of sobriety and I work at SLA; giving back to others that come in looking for help.
SLA has immediately provided me with stability. I didn't have to worry about how to get a job or if it would pay enough. They provided. I didn't have to worry about how I was going to get there. They provided transportation. I didn't have to worry about what meetings to go to and how I would get there. They have on site meetings and off site meetings they take me to. Most importantly I walked in comfortable. The staff is just like me. They understand! They're real with it. Every body there showed me love from the 1st day! Oh, and the apartment is super clean and nice. Its not too clustered and I only have to share a room with one person so I can find peace in my room whenever.I highly recommend.
So we're living America has been a great great resource to me and help me find employment beatings and peer counseling and I really do like it here
am currently located at the Spartanburg SLA campus and feel like I have finally found the perfect place for me to succeed. I have been in several treatment centers and sober living houses in the past few years but I believe this is the perfect place to learn responsibility and work a 12 step program all while saving money and creating a sober network of friends. We have a new director Chase Norton who trained under Wally and he along with the staff here show tough love but are always available when we need guidance and direction. I would recommend this place to anyone trying to find a place to start a new exciting way of life.
This place has genuinely saved my life, if you are willing and ready in your recovery it is the best place for you to go to truly turn your life around. I honestly have no idea where i would be without SLA and i am eternally greatful. I am in the Louisville campus.
Horrible, horrible place. Cold, unhelpul staff who play favorites with the residents, dirty rooms with few utensils and repetive meetings that were uselss. Every morning we had to watch the same video of Denzel Washington addressing college graduates. Some residents had seen it every day for SIX MONTHS. The SLA I stayed at is in Atlanta and the director is an imperious, rude and unprofessional woman. Thank God I found a better place to stay as I would not recommend this place to anyone.
SLA is an awesome program. The Macon facility has been an amazing program to be associated with. They offer weekly covid testing and or covid vaccination appointments. Great meetings hall. I would definitely recommended this program to anyone seeking sobriety and a fresh start on life.
Sla saved me from addiction. It one of the best places ive been for recovering addiction. They help u with the steps of aa. Help u restore structure back n ur life. Im at the Greensboro 2 location.
I've been with SLA for 5 months , now. I am very excited about my growth and the restoration of my family. Through the kindness, acceptance and accountability of the staff at SLA, I am learning how to live life, sober! Thank you, SLA for your patience with me!
This place has been an absolute blessing helping me get back on my feet while keeping my recovery first...
My experience here has been wounderful at SLA, i love what this program has in store for my future... i couldnt of asked for a better oppertunity
It help me work and find out how I really was and find out what I wanted in life and how I can be a better person for my self and my family and friends life's good when you find a way out of addiction and sla gave me some tools to figure all this out one day at a time
I have nothing but the upmost respect for SLA this is my second go around and since I have been at the Atlanta location I have worked up to my 6th step and I have a HG and a church that I love. Ken and Amir are adamant about our recovery and truly show us love and tolerance. I wish I could leave 10 stars.
I am grateful for SLA Atl 1. Straight from the start I felt at home. The staff are very respectful and they made sure that I received the best chance at recovery. They have a Big Book Study every morning at 9 that rocks. I am learning a lot about my mind state and the disease of addiction.
Sober Living America is a great place for recovery. Very welcoming, surrounded by staff who truly care and want to help take this walk in life with you. They go above and beyond all measures to make sure you get a sponsor and build a network to utilize for recovery.
Thank you, Nashville 1

My name is Dianna , I am so grateful for this program they have been amazing and so understanding! My Director Recayah is awesome ! She’s so down to earth and has really taken good care of us here ! I highly recommend anyone in need of help to transition in life to contact Sober living ASAP they are all so kind and eager to help ! Love and Peace
I got to Sober Living America in Louisville KY and I really needed the stability and push that SLA provided. I have the opportunity to be around people just like me that have gone through the things I’ve gone through and understand. I’m learning to be responsible and to meet life on life terms sober. Highly recommend this program for anyone that wants to get better.
Sober living America is great it has worked wonders for me. I gave my mind body nd soul. To the program nd its blessings upon blessings. I'm grateful for sober living.
I'm loving it here in Atl 1. So far it has been a good stay the staff is very respectful and they are taking care of my needs. I have gotten a sponsor and I will start work soon.
This isn't the first sober living environment i've lived in but i'm confident after just a couple weeks here that this is the one i will suceed in. I've lived in a lot of poop hole places infected with negativity and false hope engulfed in fake motives and i can honestly say that this place is different. The staff here are more than helpful and the vibe here is not just focused on recovery, but naturally make you want to give all to get it. This place makes sobriety attractive and fun. Jason and Recayah go out of their way to not only make sure you get settled in and understand all the rules and guidelines, but to make sure youre comfortable as you settle in as well. They set you up with the tools and mindset to strive for a better life. Honestly have no complaints and am glad and very grateful to be apart of this program. Forget other places. If you want to recover from a hopeless state of body and mind, stop procrastinating and get you ass here. The future's looking beautiful. Blessed.

sparta2 This campus of women have been amazing to me and I couching of a better place to recover and work. I have learned life skills and more about myself since being here. This ace saved my life.
#Sparta 2.
I came here needing a fresh start in life. Again. This has been a great experience for me. I have met the most awesome ladies here. The meetings and the camaraderie of my roommates are helping me with my recovery goals.
I have been with SLA for about 7 months a graduate of the program and have enjoyed every moment of it it has been life-changing and a great experience did the director and staff members of the Spartanburg SLA great and helping people get through the hard time of addiction it has been a game changer and I have enjoyed every moment of it a great experience liar your read it come on Red John
Before arriving at SLA, I've tried these transitional sober living programs, and none of them had helped me as much as SLA has. Most of these types of programs are just work camps, but SLA is different and you can really tell the staff cares for the guests.

I am a re-admit from a different location, but since I've been in Atl 1, I have received nothing but the upmost respect. They have helped me obtain a job and a new sponsor. I will recommend SLA to anybody needing help.
The staff at SLA is amazing and has accommodated all of my needs! They go above and beyond to make my time away from home in recovery stress free and exciting!
I am so thankful for SLA Atlanta 1, I literally had nowhere to go. I was homeless and broken. I was introduced to a sponsor from AA my first night here and I can truly feel the love and camaraderie here. The staff has been wonderful. I'm grateful my friend hooked me up with this facility
So far so good, I have only been here a few days but I feel like I'm in the right spot. I was sent here with nothing but the clothes on my back, and they had a clothing closet which I was able to get some clothes. My first day here I attended a Freshman Orientation which showed me that all I have to do is look at the next 24 hours. The staff here in Atlanta 1 have been a tremendous help. Ken, Amir, and Dylan have not hesitated to go out of their way to assist me. I have applied for Food stamps and will be working in the next few days. No Complaints here.
#Sparta2. I love this place. The staff is wonderful! Made some great sober friends that I will have for life. Without the help of God and this place, I couldn't have turned my life around and be where I'm at today!
Staff has been a great help !! They helped me keep god first, sobriety and be social with sober people. Staff are always available to help any time of the day !

I'm 14 months sober but I've been in sober living America before I had such a great experience I decided to come back the people are so supportive and I know I can stay sober here! Thanks Sober Living America. #louiville
Sla is an amazing place. It helps you learn how to live life again and through your journey you will meet some amazing ladies and gentlemen. #Louisville
#sparta2 Is a wonderful facility and everyone is so welcoming. This place really changed me for the better and saved my life and I am now in a great place in my life, I highly recommend SLA for a place of recovery!
My experience has been fine but there is some issues with people taking stuff but that's the men that you're with their all alcoholics and drug addicts and a lot of them don't leave that when they come in so it is what it is but you know I guess it's the best it can be with this many sick people around so it's helping me got my last resort so big blow where I am a really good to be there

I came to sober living America stressed out , anxious and physically ill, I was ready to go back and use because of what I was going through, but instead I picked up the phone and reached out! When I called SLA they immediately picked up and first listen to me, then they went over their program and accepted me the way I was. Again “ Accepted me the way I was”! To be honest it was a blessing from my higher power! Since I have been here everyone has been amazing, everyone has helped restore my sanity, spiritual, And health well being, ( mind, body, and soul) . I have been able to relax and smell the coffee. I look forward to every day that I am being blessed with. This is by far the best choice, The best thing that has ever happened to me! Thank you! I am so grateful for the people in the program. For any one that is going through the something similar or has a loved one that is suffering pick up the phone, and reach out . There are people out there who really care and want to help. Thank you to all the staff in Louisville! To all the staff in the program!
I am currently ready to finish up the 30-day Pinnacle program in Colombia. I can honestly say that I have been given the tools to make the transition to my hometown and continue working on my sobriety. Kenny and Melissa make this a very comfortable and desirable place to be well educated on your journey to a new and better life.
Initially my view of SLA wasn't the greatest but as I've continued to stick and stay, my opinion has changed. The services offered are truly amazing and a Godsend. If you suffer from addiction or alcoholism, Sober Living America is definitely a place to get clean while getting your life together and on track. The services offered are definitely worth the cost. What is your life worth to you. If you're considering going to SLA, it could be a life saving decision.
I've been a drug addict and alcoholic for 20+ years. I've been in and out of several different rehab centers all over the united states. I came to SLA Louisville almost 2 years ago broken and strung out from alcohol and meth. I was running like I had been my whole life and didnt really know what to do. I was ready to give up on life and had no reason left to go on so I thought. SLA took me in and gave me a place to stay and gave me the tools I needed to live and enjoy life on life's terms. Today my life is better than it has ever been. Because of them I have a great job and make more money than I've ever made in my life. I have a true relationship with my family. I also have people that I've met here that have become just like apart of my family that I'm truly grateful to that have showed me the way. It has truly been a life changing experience thank you Sober living America for saving my life and teaching me a new way to live.

Before coming to SLA Louisville I had no place to stay and was jobless. I also had a bad meth and alcohol addiction. I have been clean for a little over a month now and have been working and learning how to live life again clean and sober. when I came here I had given up on life and was ready to die. Today I have so much to live for and am learning how to live and enjoy life without the use of drugs and alcohol. Thank you SLA
This place saved my life, they help you find a job, take you to meetings and are very structured and recovery focused. I have almost 90 days sober! The staff here is great and very helpful. They really give you a chance to start a new life, clean and sober. I've been to many different recovery houses and programs and this one has been the best so far in terms of practicality and recovery. I'm so glad I made is here and can't wait to continue my road to recovery here at SLA #Louisville!
I am grateful for Sla Atl 1, it has allowed me the opportunity to be able to get my life back in order. I will not tell you that this is the perfect program or residence because to each his own. But for me it is, I have been able to attend AA meetings and I have found a sponsor. I am currently reading thru the Big Book and I am learning about myself. Everyday I am faced with challenges as every addict is, but I am able to face those challenges with the help of God and my peers. When I first got here I was not satisfied with the living arrangements, but I was grateful that I had someplace to lay my head. I was homeless before here and my family had completely turned their backs on me (not that I blame them). Today I am willing to do whatever it takes to stay clean & sober and SLA has pointed me in the right direction.
as of today located at Duluth it has been very positive and very good keeping me under the high power of life. im very grateful for the chance to change my life around.
The people I've met through this program have helped me more than anything I've ever experienced. I came with no money and was given a place to live and employment.
S.L.A. is a great program for those who are fighting with addiction. If it weren't for this program I don't know where I would be right now but I have learned so much about how to battle addiction and I have learned how to control it instead of it controlling me. Thanks to all who have helped me on the difficult journey.
SLA Spartanburg is a wonderful place with wonderful caring staff. They were there for me when no one else was. The director there as well as SLA really helped me up when I was down and out. I'm looking forward to my new life that SLA has so graciously help me get started.
This is a program that has helped me get sober and stay sober ! I was welcomed with open arms and have found a place i can call home ! I've met some awesome people here that have helped me through this journey as well ! SLA has truly given me a second chance at life and to actually get it right this time ! I DO NOT regret my decision in coming here ! So with that being said if anyone is looking for a safe place with genuine people who actually care then DO NOT hesitate to call ! They are here to help and put you back on track ! ....SINCERLY R.J. ❤
I needed a place to go and work on bettering myself and to quit using the drugs that were ruining my life. SLA came out of nowhere, got me off the street, and found me a job. I am satisfied thus far.
sparta2 this is the best sober living I have ever been in. I was greeted with so much support and felt so welcomed. I came with nothing and every girl here has stepped up to help me. I'm surrounded by so much love here.
I was at Sober Living America Duluth 2 campus. It was the best experience of my life. The staff there was great! They helped show me the way, teaching me about the 12 step program of AA showing me how to get a sponsor. My life is so much better today. I never though taking a chance at sober living America would be the best decision I would ever make. If your looking for change in your life give this program a try.

I've been here at Spartanburg campus since late March 2020. They have provided a safe, stable and sober community living environment. While they encourage us to maintain a professional work schedule, sobriety comes first. The director has made sure to maintain a personal relationship with each client. Sadly we've seen many leave, but it's been there own doing. Wish for more off campus activities with the guys.

I Moved to get away from alcohol addiction. My addiction knows no zip codes. This has been a 10 year battle. I have lost 3 relatives to addiction. SLA had their doors wide open. All are welcome. I've been here 6 months now. You can get clean & sober here, but first YOU must put in the work. SLA really should have a better screening policy. I've seen some folks that have no business being here. They truly require more mental health care. Van schedules need to be clad iron. Rules are great but need to be put into action for ALL & not case by case unfortunately. Attending outdoor meetings should be priority one. This is best for building a network. Staff are nice & accommodating, but very overworked & less than poverty payment is unacceptable. Guest can work program & become part of staff even with minimum clean time. This is pretty risky. More focus on meeting & work attendance & less on having 'a zero balance'. We came here to get clean & sober, not work & babysit others. You can achieve it if, you stay focused, positive, HONEST, willing and accepting. We didn't choose to be addict⁹s. When guest choose to be assholes, they can leave.
SLA has been a great support toward my recovery. I feel like home when I am here. They really care about your recovery.
Indianapolis - So far my experience here at Sober Living America has been wonderful. I have experienced another chance of life with the help of the wonderful staff and and encouragement to make better life choices which help bring the best out of me. I've been to many places but I have to say this has been the best experience and help I have ever received. Highly recommend this place if your looking to change your life for the better! Two thumbs up for SLA!
S.l.a. is a wonderful program it allows you to focus on sobriety, and also work and gain structure to yourself. It feels great to give my self a second chance and sla allows that
sla has helped changed my life for the greater good before sla i was headed to a very dark place and now my life is rapidly getting back on track. being in the sla community where the energy is very beautiful i have not wanted any alcohal or drugs i am completely sober thanks to the program sla has provided and i am very thankful i would recomend sla to anyone who wants to change theyre life for the better
i came here looking for help with my addiction and was welcomed as soon as i called and was greeted with open arms . i am very excited about being here and cant wait to see what the future holds
#sparta2 it has been a wonderful experience being here at sparta 2 SLA. This was the best decision I ever made because it saved my life. I would recommend this to anyone out there struggling with addiction
SLA is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. as a helpless, hopeless junkie ive tried everything to get clean. in the past, ive gone to treatments and recovery homes and feel like ive been left to fend for myself, and if you dont have money or insurance then forget about it. SLA will let you come in without a dollar to your name and then GIVE you a job AND provide transportation. it truly is a second chance for anyone who wants it.
SLA is the first one that truly seems to have my best interest in mind. they are serious about recovery , which is most important. but in order to recover, i feel like you need to have a sense of purpose. they have that covered with the job etc. 10 out 10 would reccomend for anyone who feels like they are out of options and that they have no hope. SLA will give you hope and the tools to build a better life.
#sparta2. Even tho I just got here, I really enjoy it so far. I'm about to start a great job and really excited about my future here. This place rocks.
#sparta2 I absolutely love this place and would recommend to anyone struggling with Addiction or Alcohol. Best decision I could have made for my future.
My experience at SLA has been very rewarding this far.Its helped me tremendously in my attempt to maintain a sober life.i recommended this program to anyone who wants to change their life by living sober.
Sober living has given me a multitude of chances and continue to accept me with open arms despite a list of screw ups. I am trying my best and working the program after being in my addiction for so long. I am worn out and tired but I still find the motivation and strive for my recovery thank you Atlanta!!
am so grateful to Sla and what it has provided for me. I am now on staff and I'm loving the relationship i have been cultivating with my Higher Power.
I came into SLA a broken man,, Since I have been here i have learned how to live life on life's terms. I have a sponsor and i have just recently completed my 4th step. I am slowly learning who I am. The staff here in Atlanta 1 has been so helpful.
Background: 13 years of drug use, 5 years living with a mental illness.
For the past 4 years of trying to get into and staying in recovery, SLA has done more for me in 4 months than what I could do on my own. I've tried the other rehabs and transitional rehab homes and they never worked for me and even were more restricting. Sober Living America helped me find really good work that I was able to excel in, a good meeting structure, and curriculum that actually gets you to dive deep into and study the AA literature. This program had gotten me closer to being an independent member of society than what I could ever hope to achieve on my own. If it has worked for me, than it can work for you.
I am a guest here in Richmond and it is has been the best thing I have done for myself. I am about to complete the program in 2 weeks. I have been to a far different place and it didn't work for me. But this program has changed my life forever. I am very grateful to be part of this family. I would not trade this for anything or anyone.
My name is Janice this program is great it gives you a great opportunity Ina lot of ways come on down join our great family
I am a guest at Richmond VA and my name is Brian. I think this is a great place. They have been very warm and nice to me more like making me feel like family . Got me started right with meeting, fellowshiping, and helped me with getting a job. I would recommend this program to anyone that is in need of help. This is the best decision I have made for my self.
Sober Living America has really helped me change my life and grow as an individual. I found a whole community if support and encouragement
Hello, my name is Billy Farmer and I am an addict. Sept 27 2020 I was truly lost with no hope. Four years in and out of treatment centers trying to get clean but never working the steps of AA and being honest with myself that I was powerless over meth. Then I reached out to Sober living of America a place that I had been to once before but walked away because I hadn't gave up trying it my way yet. Thank God they received me with open arms. I've now completed my first month of the freshman phase which was in Jackson Mississippi and am currently starting my sophmore phase in Spartanberg S.C which is closer to home. I am truly blessed with having this chance and I will forever be greatful to Sober living of America for guiding me thru and helping me see just how important honestly working the steps of AA can begin to change your life dramatically. Thank you Shane Mitchell for accepting me in Jackson Mississippi and getting this old country boy to believe and thank Julious in Spartanberg for accepting me in with open arms to continue this journey. And thank you SLA for all you do helping alcoholics and addicts find a better way!
This program is the most unorganized unwelcoming program I’ve ever been too.they tell you on the phone they will help you get recovery and to meetings and lead you into a relationship with god, but DONT take you to church and do nothing but down you and talk to you like a dog. They pretend to be your friends and act like they care when they truly don’t. They truly need to be shut down.
My experience has been a true blessing of coming into the program so welcomed and with people who are so genuine I truly think it’s going to be a good road ahead of me but I will leave that to my higher power to decide because the best thing yet is letting him lead and guide me on this new journey of recovery because my way has never worked and I just feel as if I’m in the place I need to be
#sparta2 my experience this time has been awesome i have had a whole turn around this time this program has truly changed my life and im very thankful
I cannot reiterate how grateful I am for SLA. I'm in Spartanburg, SC and have been at this campus for approximately 14 months. The staff and program have been extremely supportive and the culture is one of family and brotherhood. I would not be where I am in any capacity without this place. Thank you to Julius F. and his staff for affording me an opportunity for a life with living. God bless SLA.
I've been with sober living America for years. They treat me like family and have always been there for me in my time of need! Great people and staff!
Sober Living America is a program that has not only helped me get back on my feet but has given me the tools to move back into the world and maintain my sobriety. The network I created here will help me well into the future and the community here has been like a family to me. If you're ready to make a change and want to put your all into it this is definitely the place to do it!!

My name is Jimmy and I am guest at GSB2. My experience here has been life changing. It has been one of the best things I have done for myself. I Would recommend this to anyone who needs help and guidance in life. The staff here is amazing from guest service to the director thanks for the opportunity
My name is Jon Colegrove. I moved to Florida 2 yrs ago to come to Sober living america. Since that time I have gotten a lot of support from the staff at Tampa 1 as they have become my friends and support group. Even through my troubles at several times during this period i have continued to get support. Even when I left S.L.A. voluntarily I was welcomed back when I knew that I needed to come back.
Thanks
Jon Colegrove
I had a very good experience things are working out good I learned a lot I'm starting to understand more about me and others through this program and I am a guest at gsb2 I hope I said that right
been clean for 2 and a half years off the needle meth and heroine...my bottom was a super dark bottom... had a recent slip w methadone just to take it for pain..but it wasnt my script.. spent 25 days in hell... found sla and it was a solid chance to get out of my home town that always seems to drag me down...and here i am in atlanta mens 2 making the best out of this decision... so far in this location corey and michael have been awesome... i will have 90 days in just a few more days
I am grateful to SLA Atlanta Men because they have allowed me to get some sort of balance in my life. I have been introduced to a sponsor and the Morning BB study has actually given me insight to this disease of addiction.
This experience is the best move I could have ever made in my life this campus treat & show so much respect with actual skilled knowledge that is very helpful in my recovery. I'm greatful to Allah & SLA!
My name is Jamie and Sal is a great place for recovery. Been very open hearted to me and all the new comes. All in all this has helped me get back to being a better person.
I came to Sober Living America a broken man. My spirit was at zero balance. In sufficient funds. I literally just had the clothes on my back. I just knew that I was tired and desperate for a new way of living. Since being at SLA I followed the suggestions. I prayed, went to meeting,, got a sponsor and did step work. I don't know when I just know something began to happen. I believed that God had something way better for me. I began to like myself. I began to fall in love with recovery. I wanted to recover more than get high. SLA provided a refuge to change everything. If it was about only not getting high I accomplished that 30 days in. Sixty days in yet I quickly learned in order to say I am recovering I had to do some uncovering. See I still had pride, ego, fear, low self esteem, pain, abandonment, loneliness to name a few dictating my life so it was not only about the door. There was prayer and more. Time to get honest with God, myself and another person. It was about doing step work and then living the step work. I dealt with forgiveness of self. Grieving the loss of my daughter. Another aspect is working and paying my fees consistently. I took a job that at the time was the only job available. I stayed and endured. Eventually I was able to get a great job giving back to youth . I see them I see me. I get paid to do this. SLA has been the vessel to position me for success one day at a time. Just for today. I met staff like Jody and Teri Hall who are givers and demonstrated what thinking of others is about. People like Jeff Davis and Robert Johnson who saw greater in me when I could not see it. I try to give what was freely given to me. SLA Charlotte/Greensboro.
I am a resident here at SLA Greenville, and I want to say that if you're serious about a life change this is the place to be. The director, Wally is a really good guy. I mean he's stern, but he's also fair and gracious come on and help yourself.
#Sparta2 I have loved my time here learning about AA and restoring my relationship with God. I have a new found freedom and it is all thanks to this program
#sparta2 thanks to God I found the best place to recover. The director and all the ladies here I love and getting to know. Thank you SLA
#sparta2 SLA saved my life. I came to sla Oct 3rd, 2019 an never been sober before. They showed me a new way to live, how to work a program, get a sponsor, work the steps, and put Gods will before my own will. They helped me get a job an how to hold my self accountable. 6 months later i graduated an got a car. I learned how to be patient an how to be ok w being uncomfortable. Since then i have rekindled my relationship w my family an kids. An in 2 wks i will be moving out n my own apartment working at a good job and having my youngest son who is 14 come move w me. I love 3 hrs away from my 3 older girls but they said change people places an thing an im sick an tired of being sick an tired. Thx u sla for being the building block an help me look forward to my future being healthy an sober.... Keeping it one day at a time!!!!
Sober living has given me a new chance at rebuilding my life. They've gotten me a stable job, comfortable living quarters, and a renewed commitment to 12-step recovery as a means to becoming self-sufficient in a sober environment. I get to attend lots of AA meetings and am learning to be accountable and disciplined in my life. They've given me a chance when no one else would. I have and will continue to recommend them to anyone trying to get clean and sober and get their lives back together!
Hi, my name is Valerie M. I came to Sober Living America to learn how to live a sober and happy life. When I first got here I was very quiet and to kept to myself. I'm learning and growing each day thanks to SLA. I'm doing great and moving forward in my recovery. I have become a house senior and enjoy the responsibility. I still have struggles but I have a group of staff and friends here always willing to talk and lend a hand. It is a simple program if you want it, do what we have all done that are here.

SLA Charlotte 2 Campus of North Carolina. I came into this campus in March of 2020. My life was completely hopeless and I was completely at my bottom. SLA took me into their program with no insurance, money,or any self worth. I came in with my cloths in hand. I have since started my journey back to living a sober life and way of living in society again. I had to be completely willing to work the program that was outlined for me. At times it seemed like it would not ever get any better and as I became willing to do the work. The staff here, Patrick O'donnell, Cody Motzner, and Kevin Miller have been great with working with me to make positive choices and changes. Life is a journey not a destination, and look forward to graduating from the program in september 2020. A special Thank You to sober Living America for helping me get my life back.... Much Love to the program and the people who have made it possible.... Kiesten Pflugbiel
#sparta2 I just want to say that I am so grateful to be here. This is a great program I couldn't ask for a better help for recovery and all the people that work here are great they really care and are a big help so thanks!!!
#sparta2 Sober Living America is the best thing that has ever happened to me. It has completely changed my life, how I live, and my outlook on everything. Highly recommend
This nonprofit took me off the street and fed me helped me get a job and transportation to and from work. Great and caring staff. I went from an EVERY day user to just picking up my 90 days
#sparta2 I have been in Sober Living America for almost a year and have experienced a great deal of growth. I have been given many resources and tools regarding how to stay sober and have been successful in the program. I have learned how to work a twelve step program and how to implement these steps into my daily life. I have gained a strong network of women and achieved stability in many areas of my life. Sober living America has given me another opportunity at life and I am grateful I have given it the chance to work miracles within me and around me. It has been a significant part of my recovery and a huge stepping stone that has prepared me for the outside world. I have gained much experience, strength and hope with being in this facility and plan on continuing on in the program to ensure longer term sobriety.
#sparta2 I am at the women's campus and have been so blessed to be here. The staff have been so helpful in making sure I am getting adjusted and learning about myself and recovery. I am getting the tools I need to learn how to live life on life's terms. I am so grateful to be here and this program is saving my life.
I like SLA Columbia. The staff is really nice and help me a lot. I like AA and love going to church. I want to continue to learn and grow here. I like living in apartments and I like being around people that are like me.
God is so good. I was looking for a place to go that was centered around God and He led me to Sober Living America. I am in Columbia and I love the apartment style living. The staff is so nice and they helped me get a job and really help me figure out AA nad the core values of the program and why it teaches what it teaches. I really enjoyed the morning meetings and learned a lot. I alos like the fact that they help us go to outtsid meetings so that whenever I graduate I have a netweork.
I'm in Columbia SLA. I came here 6 months ago with nothing and now I have the tools the life skills i need to be successful in my sobriety. They helped me get a job, the helped me understand the program of AA, and they provided with transportation and resources to get my health in order. I really love it here and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for help, or looking to help themselves.
I thought I was living a normal life until alcohol starting to get the best of me. Then it happened..DUI after DUI (2 yrs apart). It got so bad my own family was sick of me. I went to court on a eviction notice from my Own Family. I was so Drunk at 10am I cussed the Judge out. He sentenced me to 60 days in the County Jail for disorderly conduct. Just so happen my little sister was there when they put the handcuffs on me, she stood up and said your Honor. You know the Family and you knew his Dad he is just like his daddy...hes Drunk now. The Judge said I will get him a bed at Morris Village. 7 days later in the county jail they told me to pack up that my lil brother taking me to Morris Village. This is when I started my journey to getting sober. While I was at Morris Village I kept hearing about a place called Sober Living of America for alcoholics so when I got close to my 28 day stay at Morris Village I gave SLA a call to see if I could get a bed for my problem. Not too many questions later a had a bed at SLA. I have been here for a lil over 10 mths now. Been Sober for over a 1yr now. The best I have ever felt in my life finally Sober. This place has done wonders for me,great staff that works with you sober, found GOD,money in my pocket, family talking to me wanting us to do things together not being pushed away like i have been in the past from them. If you have trouble with Alcohol or Drugs find a program that will help you out if not SLA find one that will help you. It made be your last chance. I can say I'm SOBER. My only one Wish..Wish my Mom could see me this way...SOBER.. Thanks.

My experience here at sober living is awesome.
I don't know how to explain it. This place has help me so much and has change my life. I could not done it with out them helping me. Tiffany our director has help me so much. She has tought me to love my self and she loves you no matter what the situation is. She the best director sense I been in sober living America.
So very grateful to SLA Atl 1, I was welcomed with open arms and immediately felt as if I was at home. I was plugged into recovery on my first day and found a sponsor by my 3rd day here. The staff are well concerned about our livelihood. In the words of Ken "We care more about your life than we care about your feelings." That right there let me know that he truly believes in our recovery even if we may not like the truth's that the staff are telling us. I would recommend SLA to anyone needing help with Sobriety and God.
I'm glad I was able to come here to Atlanta 1, I had couldn't get my SSC due to covid -19 and the staff pooled together to help me order my Birth Certificate so that I could gain employment. The Director Ken, has helped me tremendously along the way. He has shared with me his story and I can tell he is passionate about his and our recovery.
I came to SLA Columbia from another local program. The program that I came from didn't really give me tools for success. In Columbia I got set up for success. They helped me get a great sponsor who I work the steps with and also participate in a lot of leisure activities with him. I really like the church that we started going to recently. We were going to zoom church but I'm happy church is back open. Bryan is great. He really helps me understand the steps. I love the community and how to pay it foward. It is a great program for me.
I am in Sober Living America in Columbia. I am really greatful to be here and the opportunity that has been given to me to turn my life around and to control my alcoholism. The staff here is amazing. I also got a very good job and get along great with everyone in my apartment.
I came to Sober Living America from Salvation Army ARC in Va. Beach Va. after finishing their program. I am an alcoholic and have been struggling with the disease for several years. I came here to transition back into a regular living society while still being involved in my recovery. I stayed here several months. The fellowship here is really great, the Staff is caring and very helpfull as well as a good recovery centered program. They provide transportation to out meetings as well as their own inhouse meetings. We have a spiritual meeting every day as well as a off campus to Church every Sunday now. They also help you to find a good job and provide transportation to and from work. I went to another recovery house but came back here to SLA. I have been to several recovery houses around the country but SLA is by far the best I have ever been to. It treats the whole man, mind body and soul. I consider it my home for now.
my names is Vanessa sober living change my life. I was homeless didn't have no where to stay got in touch with sla and enter the program. Im clean and sober. They got me a job at the chicken plant and i enjoy going to work everyday. I get visit with my children once a month and i enjoy every bit of it . I have a level head and now i can think a little clear now that im not using. without sla i don't no where i will be.thanks for everybody in the program.
#sparta2 Great Recovery Place. Staff is Awesome. Meetings are great this place has really helped me with my recovery and to get back into society. Would Definitely recommend this place.
#sparta2 ive been at SLA a year and ive gotten everything ive needed out of this program and more . Our director Tiffany Mosley does a wonderful job very grateful i got to known her
I have been here for one month and I love it. Kereen holds the best meetings and always has good experience, strength and hope and is always supportive, and Patrick and Kevin and Kiersten have been absolutely instrumental in my recovery. They are always available when I have a problem and they are really good listeners. I could not get through this program without them. I have had nothing but a good experience while here and Im very happy with the services I am receiving. I wish the counseling would be through the rest of the time here but Im glad I at least have Scott's phone number to call whenever I need. My roommate has made being here a lot easier as well as the girls in my apartment and I wouldnt trade them for the world.
Patrick, kiersten,,ms .kereen, and kevin are great. they are always professional and helpful at the same time. when i came to this program a bitter person and a addict that made an excuse about my addiction.through the care that they have for the members here . i can honestly say im today 15 days clean in my sobriety because of them . is not just about getting me a job or giving me a place to stay they truly and honestly care. i would recommend this program to anyone who is looking to recover from addiction
Hey Im Valerie Jones I have been here at SLA for four weeks now and they are awesome here they have a wonderful program here to help you stay clean and sober. Im thankful and grateful through my precious Jesus to be here and all you have to do is let go and let God. The program works it really does and thank you for taking the time to read this.God bless all of you and take care.
When I got to SLA I was in dire need of help. I had just gotten out of rehab for the second time. I had no where to go and no one was willing to help. I thank god I had gotten into SLA when I did. They accepted me with no money upfront, and helped keep me on the path to recovery. I am now 2 years clean and ecstatic at how much better my life is now. Thanks to SLA I have a job, I have my recovery and I can say that I am a happy human being.
I'm at the atlanta mens 1 campus and since I got here almost 3 months ago I have always felt comfortable and welcome. They make sure we are going to meetings and helped get me a sponsor that i felt good to talk to. They hooked me up with a good job that i actually enjoy doing too. Thank you sla for giving me an opportunity to get my life back on track.
#ATLMen's1 is awesome. This community is really tight knit and everyone looks out for each other. The staff is always available and try to do everything they can to help all of us residents. I was here for about 4 months and decided to go back home to try it on my own and that did not work out so I called back and they gave me another chance to do it right. I cannot thank the staff here enough and definitly recommend this place if you need help staying clean
Proceed with caution! This is, by far, the most poorly managed social services/recovery oriented organization I have ever encountered or experienced in my life. It is merely an overpriced, glorified homeless shelter. They do not drug test or search anyone's belongings to ensure the safety and/or integrity of the community. While they seem to pride themselves on accepting new clients with no immediate funds available (simply stating they will "find you employment and allow you to pay back any accruing/past due balance") in all reality, you will find that their primary focus is, and will consistently remain throughout your stay, the MONEY, above ALL else, including your recovery. They boast being a 12 step influenced program, yet they barely, if ever, bring you to 12 step meetings or even hold you accountable to attending them. In fact, their staff, who are merely other residents who are "hired" on as "staff", but are paid, minimally, under the table, do not "work a program" themselves. So much for "Lead By Example". The program is a veritable revolving door, thereby promoting chronic relapse. All I can say is "buyer beware", and if you're looking for a decent recovery community, this is a very risky choice.
I'm here at the atlanta men's 1 campus and have nothing but great things to say about it. The apartment i'm in is clean and everything works, the roommates are awesome and I have a bed to sleep in. Coming in from living on the street I am so grateful to have a bed and a roof over my head. The staff (Cory and Calvin) are great guys that really care about all the residents and take the time to get to know us and they always make sure we have what we need. They make sure we are going to meetings and doing what we're supposed to and I think that is awesome cuz Im used to just doing whatever I want. This is place is a great start if you really want recovery. A+ in my book.
Atlanta Men's 1 has been great so far, corey and calvin welcomed me in and made me feel comfortable as soon as I got here. They showed me to my apartment with a bed already made for me and introduced me to my roommates who offered to help me with anything I might need. The atmosphere here is like its a big family and that has made getting settled in really easy. I got to go to a meeting my first night here and they are helping me get a sponsor cuz I am used to NA and was wary about going to AA but they gave me advice that has me excited about attending AA now. I look forward to my stay here and woudl reccommend this place to anyone needing help
I transferred to ATL Men's 1 last week from a different campus. I did not want to transfer at all and was kinda mad that I had to, but after getting here and talking with the staff I could not be happier that I ended up here. These guys really care about the residents and push recovery hard, it was awesome to feel that they actually care about my well being and that they want the best for us. I am starting a new job that sounds like it will be a great fit for me and pays well. I was at the other campus for about 3 weeks and didn't get to go to a clothing closet so I was having to wash the few things I had multiple times a week, Corey and Calvin gave me basically a new wardrobe so I am set-up now. This place seems to run really smooth and the community is pretty tight from what i've seen, I like the atmosphere. We get to go to outside meetings twice a day too. Thank you to this staff and the program in general, I appreciate everything thus far!
I'm at the Atlanta Mens 1 campus and this place has been great since I walked in the door. Corey and Calvin have made sure I had everything I need and helped me get a sponsor cuz this is the first time im in a program so I didn't really know what to do. My bed was made for me when I got here and I felt like I was home. The counseling sessions are really helpful and I am starting to open up at the AA meetings. I can't thank sla and the staff at my campus enough. Really glad I came here!
I've been at the Atlanta Men's 1 campus going on 2 months now and it has been awesome! I came in with no where else to go and my family barely speaking to me. The staff has always made sure I have what I need and have pushed me to work my recovery as hard as I can. I am already seeing that those promises they were talking about really come true if you put the work in. My family reaches out to me and actually wants to talk to me, they even brought me to see my little brother graduate. No way that would have happened if it wasn't for sla. I am gainfully employed at a job I actually like, I have a great sponsor that is pushing me to work the steps and I have hope for my future for the first time in a long time. I highly recommend this place if you want a better life and an opportunity to start moving forward from active addiction. Thank you to Corey, Calvin and sla for helping save my life.
Atlanta Men's 1 has been a life saver for me. I came in with nothing to my name besides the clothes on my back and no hope that I could get my life back on track. The staff here made me feel welcome and comfortable as soon as I arrived, they had a bed already made for me and had plenty of extra clothes that I could go through and keep. Corey and Calvin made sure I had something to eat and didn't go hungry until I could get my first paycheck. I got a good job and started working within a week! They even got me work boots. We get to go to AA meetings every day and anytime I have needed to talk, Calvin and Corey has been not only available but willing to sit down with me and talk thru anything going on with me. The staff here truly cares about us residents and I can't thank them enough for giving me an opportunity to get my life back on track! SLA is a great place and ATL Men's 1 is the place to be
I've been at the Atlanta Men's 1 campus for a couple months now and it has been life saving to say the least. I came down here from New York beaten, broken and bruised and needed to find a new way of life. The staff has been great since the day I arrived, always there to help me with anything I need. They are always available and give me hope that I can be successful again by sharing their experiences with me and pushing me to work the steps. This place has been a blessing for me! Would recommend this program to anyone that needs help with this disease!
I have been in SLA for few months in Atlanta 1 recently transferring to a different location Duluth 1.And To be honest it has really added structure to my life especially at this location.Sean Smith the director is a great director. If I had any needs or questions he was there to answer me and help me.My stay has been great and they willing to work with you as long as you are willing to put forth the work yourself.I have been able to rebuild my life and everyone see a change in me.Don't believe the hype cause this program has helped me save my life and build a better relationship with my wife and kids.So I advise anyone if you have a desire to change your life and build stability and a new self confidence when it seems all hope is lost.No point in procrastinating SLA is a good program. If you seen me when I first came I was a hot mess but now I'm striving for perfection inside and outside. All I can say is.Look at me now
#Atlanta Men's 1 has been the new start I needed! I came in beat up and broken, I had lost my nephew to an overdose the morning I came in here. The staff welcomed me with open arms, made me comfortable and told me it was going to be okay. They talked with me about my nephew for awhile, telling me similar stories that they had went thru themselves which gave me hope. I got set up with food stamps, work boots and a job within the first week. I have started working with a sponsor and get to hit meetings every day. If you truly want help in living a positive life and staying clean, this place is where its at
I've been at Atlanta Men's 1 for almost 2 weeks now and this campus has been nothing but a blessing for me, I had been to different locations in the past but the staff here goes above and beyond for all of the residents. I came in with the clothes on my back and no food, I was worried to say the least. Corey and Michael sat down with me and immediately took that worry away by setting me up with clothes and plenty of food before I even got to my room. I could see that these guys really care and they shared their experiences with me. They got me a good job that I like to do and always check in to see how I'm doing and if they can do anything else to help. Highly recommend this place if you want a new way of life!
So far this program has helped save my life and get it back on track. I have relapsed multiple times in my attempt to remain sober. The leadership has worked with me thoroughly to maintain a plan of action and accountability. They helped me get work within the first 2 days of being there and provided food as well as transportation To and from work as well as for grocery runs. The living arrangements are good and overall a great program. The people there are very understanding and friendly yet adhere to proper rules for the sake of sober living. They also provide letters as needed for court issues or work.
Nothingbut great things to say about Sober Living America and Atlanta Men's 1. I was at one of the lowest places in my life when i made the phone call to SLA telling them i needed help. They welcomed me with opened arms and couldnt have made the process any easier. They were very accommodating to my physical ailments and made sure that i was confortable as soon as i arrived. It's been 4 months since i made that call and i am ever so thankful that i did. I cant thank SLA and the Atl 1 mens team enough!
I came to SLA 5 months ago with absolutely no idea how it would change my life. I was hopeless, burned almost every bridge I had, and didn’t know how to love myself or anyone else. During these past five months I have reconciled relationships with loved ones I never thought I would. I have learned more about myself, and formed friendships that I will cherish for the rest of my life. SLA’s patience and understanding with every individual in this program really sets them apart from other organizations and actually gave me the impression that I was cared about and that I can beat my addiction. Forever grateful.
I've been in sober liveing America 14m and happier then I've been in years this is one of the best places of recovery I've. Been in I've been in twenty this the best meetings work they take you to and from when the time is right you can move into the company and work for them if thats what you would like to do i have chosen to do so because i want to give back to the recovery program that saved my life
I came to the SLA Atlanta Mens 1 campus 4 months ago not knowing what to expect. The staff welcomed me into the program and helped assist me with everything that I needed to get back on my feet. They helped me gain employment, placed me in an apartment with a few others guys that are apart of the program who helped me get adjusted. This place truly saved my life and I would recommended it to anyone that I know.
A family member told me about SLA and at that point I was willing to do anything as long as I could just get help so I googled Sober Living America, called the help center number that is on the websites main page and after a 5 minute phone call i was accepted into the program with no money down, all I had to do was get a bus ticket to the greyhound station closest to the Atlanta 1 campus and once I arrived there on the bus then staff picked me Up immediately. I’ve been here for 3 months now and this place has truly changed/saved m life. I couldnt recommenced this place enough to anyone seeking help with addiction. I can’t thank all of the staff members enough!
I was literally at rock bottom when i called Sober Living. I came to Atlanta Mens 1. My life was total chaos. I wanted to go to sleep and never wake up. But I made the call and they told me they would take me. I wasn't used to people saying they would take me in. In the two months that I have been here my life has changed so much. I have friends. I have a great job. I have a sobriety network. This place has given me hope and changed my life. The staff here is caring and dedicated. If you are struggling with addiction, do what I did and make the call.
I am currently at the Greenville 2 SLA location and my experience here at this location and SLA in general, is going great, I love it. Its helped me alot and kept me sober, as of yesterday I am 2 weeks sober and progressing foward. The staff members are great and know all about recovery and I would highly recommend this program.
Sober living america has given me an opportunity at a new life. They have given me the structure and tools to really make a difference in this transition of my recovery. I am truly grateful for this program and all it has to offer.
#Spartanburg SLA has taught me a lot. I have been here for over 3 months and did not think I would ever make it. When I came in I was welcome with open arms and they showed me the way to stay sober. The meetings are great and full of knowledge and experience. Would recommend to anyone.
#Spartanburg This is a great place to get the help you need. I came here and my expectations were exceeded. I have met a lot of great people and got the tools I need to stay clean and sober. This program works if you work it.
Very clean apartments with staff members that are truly dedicated to making you feel as comfortable as possible while going through what is a very difficult time for most. This has been the best experience for myself and my loved ones. I would recommend SLA to anyone who is willing to do whatever it takes to begin a new life.
Sober Living America has given me a second chance. The opportunity to become self sufficiant and grow within a strong knit community and develop not only a solid relationship with my family, but also with others in a healthy way. Ashton Spears (Marietta 2 Director) has a true and genuine care and respect for the residents here. She has shown me what accountability is and what leading a sober life has to offer. I am truly grateful for SLA and the staff that work very hard to meet my needs and guide me towards a better life.
I am writing a review from the Atlanta Women's Campus. I have been here, voluntarily, since 11/22/19. Although I will graduate this month, I plan to stay a full year, based on my experience, thus far. The staff truly cares for the clients and have the wisdom to pass on to us from their own experience, strength and hope. I think of it as filling my "toolbox" with all the tools necessary to use in order to live a sober and meaningful life when I leave. The living arrangements are also fantastic, in that you can build a great network with other addicts and alcoholics, such as myself., to rely on when life shows up (good and bad.) Program fees are very reasonable, transportation is provided, a variety of outside AA meetings are available, as well. The most important thing for me is the availability of the staff to us, at all times. I give SLA Atlanta 5 star!
I came to Atlanta Men's 1 Wednesday of last week on 05/06/2020. It was nothing I expected from previous experiences. I was greeted with open arms and welcomed home. It was the most pleasant experiences I could've asked for being in such a difficult time. I was given hope and another chance to fight this disease with my fellow SLA brothers at my side. I couldn't be any happier of where I'm at, or any prouder of myself that I am here and have made it this far. I would also like to give a special thanks to the staff (Corey Cullen, Eric Matthews, and Michael Risner) who are at my location (Atlanta Men's 1) giving it their all and consistently doing everything they can do in their power to help those in need and that suffer from the disease of addiction!
I came to ATW SLA with nothing and had a terrible relationship with family and myself. Taking the suggestions from SLA I got a sponsor, went to meetings, and got my literature. I made a new family here, we had thanksgiving dinner and i felt like i was at home, for Christmas even though i was away from my mom, dad and other family members I was still with the family i made in SLA. Being here I was scared 7 hours away from home and everyone i knew and now i wouldnt wanna be anywhere else. SLA holds me accountable, they provide me with a sober network and help me get in touch with myself again. The promises have started coming true, I got to visit my great grandparents, my twin that i hadnt talked to for 2 years texted me, my mother in active addiction saw what i was becoming and started going to meetings herself. I scheduled my first ever dentist appointment in SLA and was able to pay for it with no help. I can take care of myself now and without SLA that would have never been possible. This program gave me Faith, Hope, a Home, a Family, a Job, and the ability to feel like i could contribute to society in a positive way instead of being in jail or being homeless. This program lets me be a better person and helps me be a positive influence to my family members in addiction. ATW Womens SLA gave me myself back!!
After 10 years of into intravenous drug use, 5 failed rehab/half way house/program attempts and 12 jail visits I finally accepted that my fait would be “jails, institutions and death” if I didn’t make a change but I had hit a point of hopelessness. I had tried every way possible to quit just like I had tried every way possible to use without having to face the consequences that came with it. Neither one ever lasted very long before failing miserably. I don’t come from “money” nor do I have insurance so I thought that getting into a program that would actually be able to help me was next to impossible but a family member told me about SLA and at that point I was willing to do anything as long as I could just get help so I googled Sober Living America, called the help center number that is on the websites main page and after a 5 minute phone call i was accepted into the program with no money down, all I had to do was get a bus ticket to the greyhound station closest to the campus and once I arrived there on the bus then staff picked me Up immediately. I’ve been here for 3 months now and this place has truly changed/saved m life. I couldnt recommenced this place enough to anyone seeking help with addiction.
What SLA has done for me is help me to get my life on the right road, to a better life clean and sober. I feel good about myself, which I could not have done without SLA. I've become a better person and learned to be more responsive about everything I do. I do like SLA and anyone that needs help, this is the place to be. A real good program to get your life back on track and a good staff. I just want to say thank you for everything.
God brought me here. I find hope and love here. Darkness filled my soul, but the people here brought me back to the light
Sober Living of Columbia has really turned my life around. It has helped me focus on my sobriety and all that is important in life. I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone. Bryan Dowd has been a great inspiration for me as well.
I don't have a long story to tell, just "my truth". Seven months ago I called SLA after yet another failed attempt at sobriety. I had just reached the end of hope. What then? I couldn't do it on my own. I had no idea how.
Two days later, I arrived in Canton, Georgia tired of it all, but just desperate enough to try again.
It has not been easy, in fact I wanted to walk away many times, but I found what I had been missing all along...a recovery family that loved me and would never give up, even when I did.
Our staff at Canton has stood behind me supporting every step I've taken, asking only one thing from me...Willingness. They gave me all the tools, then simply let me do the work!
For anyone who can't find sobriety here at SLA, simply put, they just weren't ready to give up fighting a losing battle.
I have to personally thank my Canton recovery family for all they have done. Eveyone, from transportation (Steve, Tristan) and job development (Trevor)to guest services (Matt, Jasmine) and our director John Turk...I thank you for all that you do!
#SLA Spartanburg I have been here over a year and this program has been a blessing. I came in and needed love and they showed me a ton and showed me how to live life sober and have fun. They have held me accountable to do the right thing and it has instilled discipline and structure in my life that I needed and will carry with me the rest of my life.

#SLA Spartanburg This has been a great place to get my recovery. It has helped me with connecting with meetings, a sponsor, service work, getting a job, and all that you would need to be successful at life and in recovery. The staff is great and really cares about what is best for you and will set you up with the best plan for your situation. Would recommend to anyone.

#SLA Spartanburg This has been a great place to learn and grow in not only myself as a person, but my personal recovery. I came here with an open mind and willingness to do what it takes to stay clean and sober. I have gained the tools I need to be able to stay clean and live life on life terms. The location is great with a lot of stuff to do and fun activities. Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to start there recovery and willing to work for it.

I am a resident at Sober Living America, Greenville 2 Campus. I can tell you from personal experience about how this program has saved my life and continues to help me through life in a positive, drug free way. By far the best program I have ever been in. The staff helps me with any issue or question. Everyone is very supportive when it comes to struggling with recovery.
SLA has truly changed my life. I'm at the Greenville, SC campus. We have a wonderful, dedicated, and caring Director who is genuinely committed to helping his residents on their journey to recovery. His passion is contagious and a daily inspiration. I would recommend Sober Living of America to anyone who has struggled with addiction. Believe me when I say, miracles are happening here ' one day at a time!'
#Greenville 2 - SLA Greenville 2 saved my life. If it wasn't for the compassion of the staff and the programs that SLA provide, I wouldn't be as far into my recovery as I am.

It has its ups and downs, but that Is any program. I love the women who are on staff in Sparta2 they have all impacted my sobriety in one way or another. I have grown in many different ways since I have came to SLA, and love the woman looking back at me in the mirror. I highly recommend this program to anyone who is trying to get clean and get somewhere in life.

SLA Greenville 1 has been a great experience. They keep recovery first and have an outstanding staff. Everything in my life has fallen back into place since I’ve been here. Thanks Wally
9 Months ago I was found on Cobb parkway after a month long binge. I was heavily intoxicated and had little to no hope for life in general. After detox, I was asked if I wanted to give Sober Living a try... I really didn't care at that time, so I said "sure"... honestly I planned to be druck an hour after I got there. Those guys really showed me a way... a way of life, happiness, and laughter I had not had in a long, LONG time... they healed me from the inside out. I could not be more greatful for all they have done for me... the joy they have helped me achieve in my life. 9 months sober now... wow that is MONUMENTAL for me, a hopeless alcoholic. I could not recommed this program enough. They will love you until you love yourself... but you won't always like the way they love you. They will help anyone who is seriously willing to make a change in their life... and will be frank and honest with you. For an addict, truth is not always something we like to hear, but is something were desparately NEED in our lives. My brothers and sisters in recovery, I love them with all my heart... give it a try; it will change your life if you want it to!
SLA Atlanta women’s is the home I wish I always had. If I ever need something, the ladies who reside here and the ladies who work here are always there for me. Jen is the best director I could ask for! Cait, who works for work development, always makes sure I am comfortable at my job and have everything I need. She’s such a mature and amazing young lady. I am so glad that I came to SLA it has given me the stability and accountability that I need.
Sober Living of America- Atlanta's women campus- took me in when I had absolutely nothing. The staff loved me when I was difficult and until I was able to start loving myself again. They help you learn how to live a "normal" life again by helping you find meaningful employment and take you to daily outside AA meetings. If it was not for SLA and the staff here I would not still be sober. I will forever be grateful for this program and the staff here.
I am in the Atlanta women's SLA program . My life has changed since I began the program. Initially I was resistant to the program and process. However, I quickly realized I needed to humble myself and remain open to suggestions from others that will promote my recovery journey. Today I have a great sober network of women in recovery who understand the difficulties of addiction.
#Spartanburg Robert Cartee. I have been in a lot of other programs and this is by far the best. They take you to and from meetings and work as well as other needs you may have. This program works if you work it. Just admit you are powerless and need to surrender. Turn your life over to God and all will be well.
#Spartanburg This is the best program I have been in. I have learned a lot from the leaders in the community. It works if you work it. Get a BB, sponsor, homegroup, do your assignments, and make your meetings, thats all you have to do.
I’ve been here in Charlotte SLA for a couple weeks now and it’s a great place to be! Now that I’ve had time to get settled and meet everyone, I am feeling blessed and so grateful to be part of the SLA family and program! It is uplifting, informative and we are all enjoying our newfound sobriety together! I highly recommend this program for anyone who is serious about making the choice to live your best life now!
Sober Living America has changed my life for the better. Their forever helpful staff gave me the tools I needed to maintain sobriety and guided me to the right path towards a better future. Thank you SLA for saving my life.

#SLA Spartanburg This is a great place to come to get the help you need. Great atmosphere and awesome people who made me feel right at home.
#Spartanburg I came to this location without knowing what I was getting in to. I have learned tools to stay sober. The easy part was getting clean but staying that way is what SLA has taught me. Dealing with life on life terms everyday.
I like this program. It helped me get a job and get back and forth. They also have a lot of recovery. They saved my life and kept me off the streets with no money. I'm ready to conitnue to get my life back together and see how much I grow.
I really like Sober Living America in Columbia. Everyone here is so friendly and really took the time to make me feel welcomed. I love the fact that we go to AA and live in an apartment. The morning meetings are great and really help me understand things. I can't wait to learn more.
Sober living America men's Atlanta 1 campus has been amazing. Great staff, great campus and a great program. They helped me get a job , start work, save money and stay sober.

Sober Living America-
Not my experience but...this place in Atlanta said they had a bed, so she went. She is currently in a 2 bedroom apartment with 5 other girls. She is sleeping on the couch. There is mold all over the bathroom and tonight she was bitten by a bed bug. I have pictures. I saw the videos and it is disgusting. She wasn't supposed to work for 30 days but, she's not even 1 day in and the director Kaitlyn (or whatever you call it) was looking up ways for her to pass a drug test (marijuana) for a staffing company. If it's sober living, how in the hell are you going to teach someone how to pass a drug test? They want you to go work at a chicken farm for $8 per hour, even with no criminal record. 2 guys showed up and went into the girls apartment around 11 tonight, I heard it. And if this place is a 501 (c) how can they charge each resident $800 a month? There is no wifi. They won't let you use the phone (even to pay your phone bill to reactivate it). There is no food. You must provide your own (they tell you they are taking you to the food bank and they never do). There is also no toilet paper you can use. You must provide your own. No towels, wash cloths, or anything. They literally give you a roof in a shady apartment, and rides to meetings and work. That's it...And this is a 501(c)? They told us a bunch of lies and we bit hard. No way would I ever send anyone to this facility (Women's Atlanta).
Charlotte 1 is a super awesome place to find recovery. Renoda, Ryan, and Lori are very very supportive. They are everything you could ever imagine and need to teach you to stay sober and live life on life terms. #charlotte1
Sober living America literally saved my life. After years of self abuse with addiction and alcoholism, SLA took me in with no money down. They helped me rebuild my self confidence and find myself worth again with in depth meetings. They helped my find a job and provided the rides to and from the job and meetings. As I gained some sobriety and showed my commitment, the Guest Services staff member helped my find a better paying job. I came into Sober living America completely broken with a hopeless state of mind. I thank SLA for everything I have today. It's not just the materialistic things I've gained, but my self esteem and work ethic has improved dramatically. I've dedicated my sober time to SLA by assisting other new comers and teaching them what I've learned by my example and knowledge gained in my sobriety. Sober life 24 hours at a time.
Sober Living America has been a true blessing for me and has helped turn my life around. The staff was great when I came the first day and the meetings are on point and very informative. The apartments were clean and comfy - they beat anything I had at the time! The jobs offered were what I needed at the time - it was a job and got me back on my feet headed in the right direction. If you are looking to get and stay clean and get your life back on track I HIGHLY recommend Sober Living America!
#Spartanburg So glad I came to this location from Charlotte. I came to get recovery and found a whole new way of life. I was given the tools for success and made the best of it. Couldn't ask for a better program.
#Spartanburg SLA is a great place to come and get the help you need. It is focused on recovery and they get you set up for success. I came all the way from Missouri and am glad I came to this location.

Would be lost without this place. Helped me through some of the hardest times of my life. The housing here in Columbia is great and the people in the community are caring and helpful.
This place is awesome ! They give anyone a chance at a better life no matter what obstacle as long as they honestly want to get sober.
My name is Matthew. When I first came to Sober Living America, i was overwhelmed with the amount of love and kindness all the staff members showed me. They filled me with hope and courage. After a few months the opportunity to be a driver for Sober Living America became available to me. This program has done so much for me, I am extremely grateful everyday. I pray for continued growth in my recovery both mentally and spiritually.
WOW!! This place is a lifesaver this program is a blessing Corey and Dalton,David,Allan. They have made this such a easy transition they helped me get on my feet and get a job and really focus on my recovery Thank you guys so much
I don't even know where to begin about Sober Living of America, Atlanta 1 to be exact, other than to just speak from my heart. When I was forced to make the phone call to get help, I wasn't useful to anyone or anything other than stealing, lying and getting high. I didn't want to do anything else. The staff at SLA couldn't have made things any more simple for me too get help. It literally took a SINGLE PHONE CALL. They told me that they were here to help and that all I had to do was book a bus ticket and they would pick me up at the bus station and help me with a hand up, not a hand out, from there. Sure Enough, when I got to the Greyhound station they picked me up, we arrive, they did my intake and set me up in an apartment with a couple of other like-minded guys who had been where I was and were more than welcoming in my arrival. SLA truly save people's lives and I can say that from experience because they have went above and beyond to save mine along with countless others. It may not be "Passages Malibu" like you see on the commercials on tv but to be honest, I don't know a single addict who has the means to go to a 5 star facility like that. If you don't have insurance or wealthy parents and think that you are beyond help because you don't have the money like I did, then you're wrong. This place is the real deal and I would reccomend this place to anyone that is sick and tired of being sick and tired. Thank you for everything SLA!!!!!!!
I absolutely love this place! SLA has shown me love and compassion, and even more so believed in me when no one else did. This is a wonderful program, especially for people who need to learn life skills and responsibility.
It has been a great positive experience, I have 135 days sober, with the help of staff and community. There is great leadership and support.it is making the transition to a quality of life that I've been missing. The meetings are great and the staff is firm but fair. at Thank you SLA.
Hello,
I'm a client at Sober Living America. A recovery center for alcohol and drug addiction. I'm writing this to not only inform you about this treatment center, but to express my gratitude also. Not only does Sober Living America provide a structured environment away from drugs and alcohol. They provide a place where I can focus on my recovery more without the stresses and strains of things like gaining employment, transportation, meetings, paying my utility bills, paying my rent, and having others like me to hold me accountable and that I can confide in. They provide all of that, and it is Incorporated into the program fees for my treatment. Which is a phenomenal deal considering all that's provided. So not only am I getting all my basic needs I'm also paying for my own treatment. I feel like the staff here are truly genuine about how much they want to see each and everyone of us achieve long term sobriety. They're awesome!! When I got here. Like most others. My life was completely unmanageable. They have placed me in a stable, manageable way of living so that I can take action in the 12 step program of recovery. They're curriculum is brilliantly set up so that I can take it easy and gradually grow and excel through this process. Sober Living America has helped me tremendously and I know that as long as I follow suggestions and do the next right thing I'll not only achieve long term sobriety. I'll also become SUCCESSFUL! Thanks,Sober Living America!!!

I've been in SLA for a month now. Since being here, slowly but surely I've seen progress in my recovery. From studying the "Big Book", to the greatly needed meetings, I've come to see that I can overcome my addiction. The road to recovery isn't easy but thanks to SLA, I have a place and point to start my life back over.
Wow, it has literally changed my life for ever. I was broken , afraid and felt unloved. The program along with the 12 principles of AA, has changed my life forever I'm forever grateful and thankful for SLA.

Sober Living America changed my entire life. They loved me untill I learned to love myself, and showed me hope in situations that seemed hopeless. They truly are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am here at the Marietta 2 location, and I have grown to everyone here like they are my own family. I couldn't be more grateful for where I am in life right now, and without Sober Living none of this would be possible.

#spartanburg... I have been in and out of treatment for over 15 years. I was broken and hopeless and ready to give up trying to get clean. I heard about Sober Living America through friends that use to be just like me but now seemed happy and full of life. I am so thankful I took one more chance on myself and came here. Spartanburg is amazing. I am far away from home but feel right at women recovery with women who were just like me. I now have my family back and have an amazing group of women in my life. I will forever be grateful to this company who has given me the skills to be the Woman and mother I was always meant to be.
I have had a wonder experience here at sla in Columbia S.C. the staff and director have really helped guide me and w my recovery so much. This is an amazing place and I am so glad to be apart of this community.
I arrived at the Atlanta Men's 2 location with almost nothing and they got me set-up with food, clothing and a good job within a week. The staff here (Corey and Keith) are a big reason that I am actually still here, they made me play the tape all the way through when I was having severe thoughts of using and sat and spoke with me until I was back in the right mindset. They have shown me how to live clean and sober! I can't thank SLA and the staff here enough. If you want real recovery then this is the place for you.
When i first heard about sober Living america at detox i had never heard about a 12 step program at a transition house. When I arrived at the Atlanta Men's 2 campus I didn't know what to expect. But I was suprised how Corey and Jody loved on me and made me feel like i was part of a family here at sober living america. This is an experience that I am glad i didn't miss . Sober living America has put me in recovery that I have found to be a way of life. It has changed my way of thinking in a way that I could have never dreamed of. Thanks for the oppurtunity to start a new life.

This place has saved me from a life on the streets. After being released from incarceration I had no place to go and things looked quite grim, but because of SLA College Park I have a home that provides much more than shelter, I have a family. Due to the wonderful support of the staff and the encouragement received I am well on my recovery path and know that with the stability I receive here that I will have a sober and prosperous future.
Sober Living College Park has been the best thing that has happened in my life in a long time. I came here unemployable, and not worthy of life. Now I have a job, and I am learning how to live life on life's terms.
#Nash 1 -Sober Living America has so far been a huge inspiration to me and has given me hope that a full recovery is possible. The women and men here are very supporting and encouraging with a positive atmosphere. Our recovery matters. People before Personalities! SLA curriculum helps build the foundation to a solid recovery and to once again, be a productive member of society.
I do believe God has been moving me in the direction I should go. I made it to SLA After completing the 28 day program at JACOA in Jackson, TN. Since being here My life has started to take a turn for the better! I am starting to rebuild my life taking it one day at a time. The curriculum is awesome and Ms. Paula is A Godsend she has really given me the encouragement and tools to begin to lead a life of sobriety, and I look forward to seeing what my life has to offer me living in a sober community and attending 90 meetings in 90 days and obtaining a sponsor is my current goal that im working towards. SLA is the best place for me right now. I'm excited to see what my life will be like in the near future.
# Nash 1- I came to Nashville SLA nearly 3 months ago, and has became one of the best decisions I have made at a time where good decisions were few and far between. My friend had strongly recommended SLA having graduated the program and was now living a life I wanted. I am so grateful for this chance and SLA will forever be apart of my story.
Im Brandon Im still new here.So far people have been very helpful.staff have been super friendly and very helpful. im grateful for SLA and ATL2 MENS
I am a retread as it goes in the rehab world, but since I have came to SLA College Park I have been shown that it is more to recovery than just reading a book and attending meetings. I was introduced to a sponsor who has been guiding me to God and a program which consist of working the 12 steps. I have just completed my 4th step and I can say that it brought up some feelings that i didn't want to feel, but it allowed me to see myself. I am truly grateful to Ken who is an awesome, understanding and caring Recovering Addict/ Director. The time he spends with us newcomers lets us know that he truly wants the best for us.
I am grateful that I came to SLA, College Park has given me a new sense of freedom. The staff here is wonderful and Nicole the Work person help me get a job on my 5th day here and also helped me obtain my foodstamps.

#ATL2 my experience here at SLA has been an amazing change for life. It has totally helped me go day by day sober. The men here are very supportive and so is the staff and the director. It has tough me responsibilitys as an adult and it has also gave me basic structure on how to like my life sober.
#Columbia - Work development in Columbia has worked miracles in my life. When I came here I was jaded and addicted. Now I have a full-time job and a heart full of motivation for the people I serve on a daily basis. Thank God for Sober Living America's Columbia location! Great staff, great apartments, great vibes.
I live at the Atlanta Men's 1 campus of Sober Living America. I have had a great experience since I walked in the door. The staff is extremely welcoming and made me feel very comfortable, the facilities are clean, and the emphasis placed on 12 step recovery is exactly what I needed to build a network in AA and begin the process of recovery from my addiction.
I have been here only 2 days and, through the classes i have already attended i feel i have already gained useful information and insight to remain sober. I would suggest this program to those who really want to conquer their addictions. The staff are recovering addicts so they know their stuff.
I've been here at the Atlanta Men's 1 campus now for 2 months. The staff are wonderful and genuinely care about the residents and have been very supportive to me personally. Jody, Corey, Josh and Dalton have made me feel very welcome and have gone out of their way to make me feel as comfortable as possible. Thanks guys I will never forget it and I am grateful for this opportunity.
Sober Living America is a fantastic place that provides you the tools and opportunity to start living life the correct way. You can come in the program with no money to your name and they treat you like family, I knew I was in the right place after being here a few minutes. Recovery comes first here and that's what I needed. The staff really cares about each and every resident and will do anything to help the next person struggling with addiction stay clean. If you need help with alcoholism or addiction this is the place for you!
#Atlanta Men's 1 I'm happy that i came to SLA, especially for all the meetings that we go to and the jobs that SLA provides us with. I came to SLA homeless without a penny to my name and now I am gainfully employed, have a place to live and most importantly I am clean and sober. All of these things are because SLA gave me the tools I needed to start living independently again. The staff cares about recovery first and foremost and that was very welcoming to come into. I would recommend SLA to anyone struggling with addiction! This place saved my life!

#Columbia! – I’m currently a resident at SLA. My experience so far has been great. They took me in with nothing but the clothes on my back. I was fed, given a bed to sleep in, and I was loved when I hated myself. My 30 days is approaching and I am very grateful considering I could not string together 30 minutes on my own before I came here. SLA got me a job, transportation to that job, and keeps me accountable for my recovery every single day.
Very helpful when it came to my recovery and providing me the tools to be successful. They also assisted me with the food stamp process and made sure I was able to go to a food bank and start working as soon as possible.
Columbia - I have been to two of the Sober Living America Campuses. Columbia, SLA has been extremely welcoming and kind. All of the staff has been very helpful and I believe there is a great group of people here that will help me find my way back in Recovery again. I am extremely grateful for SLA.
I came to Sober Living America's Columbia location a couple weeks ago. Everyone here is very cool and supportive. I have a full-time job now and am sober. Happy to be alive today and happy to be in Columbia.
#Columbia! I came to Sober Living America looking for a new start trying to get my life together. It has done wonders for me. The leadership here is amazing, everyone lifts each other up all the time and the people and staff here have made a huge difference. It has given me the tools to get and stay sober and learn how to live life on life's terms. The program has taught me so much. They really care about you and your sobriety and are so genuine. I have recommended this program to a few people who I know it has changed their lives as well. I highly recommend coming here if you are looking for a new way of life.
# Columbia!
Sober Living America has been a great experience and I am blessed to be at the Columbia location. My life changed when I came here and it provided me with stability. They hooked me up with a full time job and taught me how to live sober. I got back on my feet here.
#COLUMBIA
Really happy with how friendly everyone is at the Sober Living America Columbia location. The program basically saved my life at this point and I am grateful to be here. It works if you work it. Excited to see what God has in store for me.
#Columbia Sober living America in Columbia is keeping me strong and sober. I have a positive attitude and am blessed to be here. It is truly helping me!
#Columbia relocation has been a " GREAT EXPERIENCE" for me, my sobriety and beginning recovery. Since October 18,2018 my life has taken a upward and successful spiral. My life went from dead end to a new beginning. The opportunities that I have been giving when I thought all avenues were shutdown my "GOD MADE A WAY OUT OF NO WAY" and"TURNED MY DARK CLOUDS INTO DAYS". The staff that were here when I arrived were what I called a together "TEAM". After being here for 6months, completion followed by graduating and now currently on staff as GUEST SERVICES the opportunities that were given to me." I CAN NOW GIVE BACK TO OTHERS" because staff that we have created thus far is known as the "SQUAD".
#Columbia Sober living america has taught me many things about how to handle my drinking , and the thoughts im having about it in general. Im very thankfull for this program. It also helped me find God again in more ways than one. They helped me find a job and get me off the streets also. Wouldnt change this experience for the world. Thanks a million SLA.
Welcome to Sober Living America! Where we specialize in rehabilitating while integrating back into society. This program has been paramount in my path to recovery. I'm Brandon, and God used the "Pinnacle" program at Sober Living America to save my life. Given the severity of my situation, it was great to have the option of coming in the door and not working for the first 30 days. The counseling I received 3 times a week by a state certified drug and alcohol counselor was just a plus! I showed up to the Greyhound station in Atlanta, Ga on Halloween of 2018. I wasn't there 20 minutes and the program director of Atlanta Men's came walking up in a donkey costume calling my name. We hopped in the van and headed to my new apartment. I was jaded and confused about life, but my new brothers there taught me that I didn't have to live like that anymore. That was 10 months ago. Now I live at one of our locations in Columbia, SC and couldn't be happier. There's nothing like closing your eyes at night and knowing you are in the center of God's will for your life. I chose a life of service to others and to God and I wouldn't have been able to do that without Sober Living America. Today, I am sober and highly motivated. I see myself as a soldier on the front lines of the war against drugs and endless fight against alcoholism. We lead through the trenches out here and make the most out of life. Are you struggling with drugs and/or alcohol? Well then maybe you should give us a call @ Sober Living America. I shouldn't be here today to share my story, but here I sit. I owe it to Sober Living America and the amazing God I serve that broke the chains of addiction in my life. Call now and be blessed. The ball is in your court. 877-430-0086
No complaints I am just grateful that I found the last house on the block with the lights on. The staff here in College Park are loving and tolerant, but they are serious about there recovery. As in all residential programs there are going to be ups and downs, but if you focus on God and your Recovery everything else will fall in place. Ken is a great Director who is plugged into an extensive network of recovering addicts and alcoholics. Brie is the best driver in the world, Nicole is on point as the work aspect goes, and Lindsey is adamant about making sure everybody gets what they need to start "Living" again.
I am enjoying the recovery and my stay here in College Park. The staff have been very accommodating, and my needs are being met. I am learning that there is "Great Wisdom in the AA Big Book"
I am extremely grateful for SLA College Park, I came with literally nothing but the shirt on my back. Since I've been here I have been able to obtain my ID and Social Security card, and I will be working in the next day or two. I have also been introduced to Alcoholics Anonymous which I never new existed. I am now learning about why I am what I am. The Staff here is Wonderful.
I read a lot of reviews from other companies but Sober Living America great review stood out the most! I wasn't sure if i'm going to stay long with the program or not since this is my first time trying any program like SLA. However, after getting into the program, I can said that i'm going to stay longer. They have clean room for you, great staff and if you don't have a ride, they will drive you places. I would definitely recommended anyone who is thinking about joining a in-house program to help you stay sober.
SLA is a recovery program that works if you work it. I greatly recommend this program to anyone who is struggling with there addiction.
This program is helping to save my life. Before Coming here I was beaten broken and had nothing, and being here is helping me to build myself up, and rebuild my life.

Upon coming back to SLA Charlotte, I was previously a driver for them. Very reliable company. I've been sober from alcohol for over 10 months. I found a sponsor thanks to Danny Perkins (SLA staff member) and Ryan Attaway. I attend meetings when possible, unless I'm working. Thanks to SLA I was able to get plugged in, and worked the steps.
#SLA Columbia
when i first came here in November of 2018 i was depressed broken and i need of recovery..i was greeted with open arms not judged and was excepted and they staff of sla Columbia let me know there was a better way and that my life would change for the better if i just gave it the program a chance...so as desperate as i was i have worked the program and true to there words my life is slowly changing for the good thank god,,this program has helped me find myself and given me the tools to stay sober thank you sla....
#SLA Columbia
My experience here at SLA has been pretty good, I was able to grow a relationship with my son and stay clean and sober. I was able to get hired on fulltime at my job and save up for my future. This is the first time I been in a recovery program and want it to be my last so I wont be leaving until I know I'm ready to leave and live life on life terms.
#Columbia I owe a great deal of gratitude to SLA. they have really helped me to humble myself and to really understand what it is to be a productive citizen. i have come a long way and i have a brighter future ahead of me. Always remember that there is no right way to do the wrong thing.
#Columbia SLA,
To tell the truth, this location was my last choice and I had to physic myself to come here. My first couple of months was disturbing. But through good advice and building great relationships with people and being involved with church. I found the silver lining in it all and also realized that this is where God wanted me. Me personally would advise anyone wants to come to SLA , I would tell to come to Columbia , even though it isn't the prettiest place but there is recovery.
Previous Stories
To be honest, this was the last SLA location I wanted to go to. When I first got here I had problems with some of the people and was skeptical about staying. Thankfully I have positive people in my circle that told me to pray and stay grounded. Needless to say I'm happy I took their advice. It turned out to be the best decision I've made in a long time . I found a great church, friends and people I can call family. Oh yeah the area is "homey" as well. Everything is convenient for me ie: gym, church, work, and stores. Because of this location I was able to get my mental health issues handled. Even though, they're days I want to rage , but that's just life and I've learned how to cope with difficult situations. I would definitely refer people that are in need of sobriety to this location.
#SLA Columbia
My experience here was nice and the staff are awesome. i am grateful to be here and be clean and sober. i am thankful that i was able to come in with all my court order mandates. They were able to help me stay clean and sober and accountable

I would kindly recommend Sober Living America to any one. Sober Living America is a recovery that is located in a very rare neighborhood which isn't a bad thing despite of your situation. In my experience, i believed i was ready for a new beginning and a new life. So i was ready to give it a try to. But I also realized this was the strongest thing i have ever done. So anybody is welcomed.
Sober Living America, College Park. Ken, Nicole, Lindsey & Brie are a great staff & easy to get along with.

I arrived at SLA 2 days ago and so far my experience here has been great. They welcomed me with open arms. I have been able to go get the things that I need with the help of the staff. I am now looking for a sponsor with the help of the staff. They make sure that I am making the meetings and that's something that I need in my life right now.
#SLA Columbia. My name is Valerie and I am a August 2019 graduate of Sober Living America's awesome program. I have been a round-the -clock drinker since 2010 and have attempted 5 treatment programs both inpatient and outpatient over the past 9 years. I am proud to say that I have been sober and thriving since my first day here and cant thank John and SLA enough for giving me and my family a new life.
When I came to Sober Living America (College Park) I was scared and nervous, I didn't know what I was getting myself into. All I knew was that I needed help and SLA seemed to be the place to get it. Since I have been here, I have learned a lot about the disease of addiction and how it affects the lives of those around me. I have a sponsor who is guiding me thru the steps and I'm beginning to establish a network. The Director Ken has helped me tremendously and the morning meetings that he runs has showed me that there is "Great Wisdom in the AA Big Book." I'm grateful for Sober Living America.
Sober Living America saved my life, the staff and residents make you feel at home. It's a great place to be here in College Park!
Hi my name is Brian, and I want to share my experience thus far. I enjoy what Sober Living America has help me accomplish since being here. I never though I'd be in any kind of AA, or NA group yet alone have a sponsor who helps me in recovery. With the help of staff here at Atlanta #2 I have been set up with the tools to stay clean and sober. Thanks staff for helping me out and taking me in off the streets with no money in my pocket. You still helped me anyway. I will be forever grateful!!!!
I have been at SLA Lawrenceville, GA city 2 for a little over two months. It is a great place if you are here to get sober and follow the rules. There is a weekly payment of $180 plus a $4 service charge. That is the first priority with SLA they will work with you the 1st 2 weeks until you get your 1st paycheck. They make sure you have a place to work and can make the weekly payment. Be ready to give everything you make except for $36 you get to keep for the week until you have got what they call a $0 balance which includes 1 extra week after that you can start to save a little. It only takes 5 to 6 weeks if you are working full time to accomplish this. Most guys here work at a chicken plant in north GA. During this time you are in a three bedroom apartment with 6 other guys and sometimes they will share food or on occasion SLA with take you to the food bank. They are a spiritual and AA based program and you go to an AA meeting everyday and church on Sunday unless you are working. There is weekly homework assignments that are very good and help you stay sober and work through the AA Big Book. The main program is designed to get your firmly set in a good sober routine and reconnect you spiritually with a higher power. It is designed as a six month program and you get a nice certificate of completion. Then there are other options you can get to to stay sober. As you show your commitment the staff will help you in anyway they can or are permitted. I am very pleased with my experience to date and through SLA i have got a 2nd chance on having a happy, productive, healthy life. Thank you to the staff, the upper executives and the guys that stay in the program with all of them this work / sober living program would not be what it is and be able to help so many.
Avoid this Company at all COST! JIM D is the devil.
He has people in active addiction running communities.
Steve F is going to kill someone drunk driving. Atleast when he does this post will help shut sla down.
CASSY F DOGS THE ENTIRE COMPANY AND THEN SUCKS UP.
So many overdoses and noone investigates.
3 hangings is one year.
Farthest thing from a non profit.
I came into Sober Living America on June 25th. I am a Heroin Addict. I have never had any clean time before and wanted to try and get clean and sober. SLA gave me the tools to help me in my early recovery and continue to bring out the best in me every day. Sober Living America has truly given me a new lease on life! Thanks SLA!
I arrived at Sober Living America Atlanta in April of 2017. I was broken, busted, and disgusted. I had been living a life which caused me to hurt the ones that I love the most. I was given employment, transportation, and taken to meetings. They equipped me with the tolls I needed to begin my recovery. I would recommend SLA to anyone seeking a new way of life! Thank you SLA!
This program and the amazing people that run it saved my life...LITERALLY!! I battled alcoholism and addiction for 20 yrs. and this is where I found the ability to LIVE again...to LOVE again...myself and my fellow neighbor...I would highly recommend this program, and I have, to anyone that is struggling with addiction and can't seem to find their way...I thank God every single second of every single day for allowing me this opportunity...Thanks Wally Ahrem...Thanks Levi Jones...Thanks SLA!!!!
Sober Living America has saved my life in so many ways it's hard to even put into words how grateful I am for this program and the staff members especially the director Wally Ahrem and Lindsey guest services they have help me so much and are big key points to my life and my recovery. If it wasn't for this program I would be dead without a doubt. So I would like to thank Sober Living America and all the people that are part of it for helping me find a better way of life if it wasnt for the God of my understanding and this place I wouldn't know what to do with my life. Today I am happy and smiling again coming up on 3months sober thanks to SLA.
#SLA Columbia
I like SLA Columbia. The people here are so welcoming, kind, and generous. They helped me anyway they can. Helped me by giving me a place to lay my head, find a job, taking me to food bank, getting me clothes, giving me advice that i can either take or leave, and helping me along with my program. I am so glade that they took me in and accepted me in there community. They all treat me like I am their family. I thank GOD that there is a place that cares so much about people like me.

My road to recovery has overall been satisfactory. The program is definitely built on faith accompanied by a desire to become sober and to help others. I came to Sober Living America (SLA) in December of 2018, my family and friends could see a difference in my behavior and decision making. The support of the staff which includes the Directors, Guest Services, Work Development and Drivers assisted me tremendously during the process. I would recommend SLA to individuals that are seeking sobriety and would like to live a better life.
I am so grateful for my time at Sober Living America-Spartanburg II. The staff is super friendly and helpful and they truly care about me. The campus is very nice and clean.
I live at the Spartanburg, SC women’s campus of Sober Living America, and I have had a great experience. The staff is extremely welcoming, the facilities are clean, and the emphasis placed on 12 step recovery is exactly what I needed to build a network in AA and begin the process of recovery from my addiction.
I really like it here and really am thankful for everything that this company has done for me. the directer Wally is an awesome guy and easy to get along with and a good dude to have around. A down to earth guy who has your back. This place is a golden opportunity if you want and need the help, but only you has to want it. Take the chance and have them change your life for the better, you wont regret it.
SLA has been a gr8t experience for myself. Along wit the staff and director they helped me become a stronger minded individual with the confidence to regain self-control and be a functioning adult in society. I would suggest SLA to any and everybody looking or seeking help.
Since I took a stand in finding a new way of life instead of the living in the death of addiction . I am well pleased for the help of sober living of America in Macon, Ga. I have a grateful heart for the director and staff. I made a decision to call SLA. for help and I received everything that the staff said the would supply, I was give a job, clothing ,etc. Staffing is and has been a great support into my recovery as promise , except for my decision to complete all the curriculum that was give in Four phases. I will stand behind S.L.A program and all recovery.

Sober Living America is a God sent program. I came here to the College Park campus totally broken and I had almost given up on life itself. When I came here the staff welcomed me with open arms and I immediately felt at home. I was offered food and clothing before I was even in the system. The Director Kenneth Woods is loving, kind, and tolerant, but he also shows tough love and instills God and recovery in every conversation we have. All of the staff here truly cares about our recovery and our lives. This was the last house on the block with the lights on. And I'm glad I took the opportunity to come.
So when I came here to Sober living america a few days ago, I was so excited about recovery. It turns out that the staff was very helpful. I was able to go and apply for food stamps, and get some food from the food bank.I got a sponsor yesterday and I'm now ready to work the 12 steps of recovery. I couldn't thank SLA Atlanta 1 for all of the support that they have given me to make me feel comfortable in being here.

Since being at Sober Living America I have had the best experience. everyone went above and beyond to welcome me in a time in my life when everything was overwhelming. The people at SLA, my roommates, our director here in Columbia, SC, have all become family! They have exceeded the expectations I had when coming into my first experience with getting sober. They have shown me this is much more than just staying clean, its gaining family, friends and more people than you can count to encourage you when you need support the most. I cant say enough how much SLA has impacted my life thus far and cant wait to see what will come next.
My name is Kevin Laufer and this is a review of my current stay at Sober Living America in Columbia, South Carolina. I want to start this by mentioning this program has absolutely saved my life. I was at a homeless shelter in downtown Columbia and had concerns about my abilities in staying sober. Ever since becoming a resident here my entire perspective on life has changed. I have a stable job, a comfortable living situation, and I am surrounded by people who truly care about the well being of other alcoholics and addicts. The staff here has been a blessing in terms of pushing residents towards the right direction we need. I finally have the accountability in my life I so desperately needed. The AA/NA meetings we attend are beyond beneficial and church on Sunday mornings are the highlight of my weeks. I am completely grateful for this program and would recommend entirely to anybody struggling with life issues in need of accountability.
I'm a recovering herion and meth addict. Sober Living of America in Spartanburg SC has changed my life. In a short 30 days of me being here, I'm finally getting my life back, AND IT FEELS SO GOOD. Anyone who is wanting a change for the better, needs to try this thing out. If you are willing to regularly participate and work with a sponsor on your twelve steps, there's not doubt that you will recover. Bayley Kappleman is our director and goes ABOVE and beyond to hold us accountable and push us towards our recovery. She is very caring, and lets us know that we are worth it. She's made a huge difference in my life. And in my recovery.
THANK GOD FOR SECOND CHANCES.
THANK GOD FOR RECOVERY!!
my experience with the sober living America has been one of the most fantastic things that ever could have happened in my life it has changed my life it has given me hope and I encourage anyone with an addiction to give yourself a shot at a new beginning comes join us sober living America the staff here is wonderful, where can you go and get a job a place to stay and transportation just coming in the door, the program can give you a new beginning the choice is yours
I was literally at rock bottom when I made the call to Sober Living America. I wanted to go to sleep and never wake up. I had nothing. But I picked up the phone and they said "No money? No problem." My life has changed so much in the two months Ive been here. I have friends. I have a great job. But most importantly, i have hope. If you are struggling with addiction, do what I did and make the call.
I came to SLA CHARLOTTE 1 back in February. So far, it has been a great Life-changing experience getting back into society. The staff here is very helpful and are always there when I need them. I would recommend this program to anyone wanting and willing to stay sober and work this program.
Sober Living America- Spartanburg 2 Women's has been a true life saver for me. The staff here, Bayley, Mary, Dana, and Crystal have been so supportive and helpful on this journey. You can tell that the staff cares about all the residents! The apartments are very clean and I love the location.
SLA has changed my view of life especially staying clean and sober. I enjoy being around the fellowship as well as the staff. Since coming to SLA Canton I have accomplished many thing such as holding down employment. Learning to stay clean and sober and how to maintain my sobriety. I would highly recommend this place if you have been struggling with overcoming addiction. I thank SLA for allowing me to stay and help others.
First of all this is NOT a non profit. This is a for-huge-profit company. They charge $800/month per person with about 8 people living in a small apartment thats maybe $1,000/month. Besides rent the only thing they pay gor is their gas money and the $100/week they pay their 3 staff members. They have people who havent finished the program running the program. At one of the locations the director stole everyones rent money and left and they are still making everyone pay that rent money again. A woman had a stroke and they left her on the floor for several hours. I have honestly never seen a place so bad. Do not donate money, they dont need it. They arent a nonprofit and this place deserves to be shut down.
I have been to many different rehabilitation programs over the course of 10 years and never have i stayed longer than a week. But I have finally found my place here at SLA Womens Center in Atlanta, a place where i feel comfortable and content for the first time in my life. I feel like i am finally on the road ro recovery and things are finally clicking for me here. The staff is great, they can be hard sometimes but they are serious about our recovery. I do feel like my life will be changed here at SLA. God is really moving here at Atlanta womens>
Since coming to SLA Atlanta Mens 1 I have learned that I need recovery in my life. With the help of the staff, I have a sponsor now to work the 12 steps with. They have taken me to the food bank and has found me employment. I never thought that they would be taking me to and from work. I came onto this program with no money down and they still took me and showed me that I'm worth my recovery. My purpose of coming here is to start my life over and get my live straight for my daughter. I want to be the father for her that she deserves.
A place that helped and gave me the tools to rebuild my broken life and to manage the unmanageable world I was living. A place were I learned how not to be a tornado in my own life and others life. A place were I found faith, peace and acceptance. A place were hope returned and place were Grace was given to Me. A place were I began a new journey and a new path to travel.
#SLA Columbia

They made sure i had food to eat and are helping me to get some clothing as well as other resources that i will need. I look forward to expanding my recovery at sla in for the future.

Sober Living America is progressively changing my life in so many great ways! Since my admission, I have been able to begin finding myself again, who I am, what makes me happy, and I am regaining my independence! I had forgotten how great it feels to feel life and happiness inside me for way too long and I say that with very much joy. Life is so much better surrounded by so many positive, encouraging, and motivating people that put a smile on my face that stays there all day. I'm learning to love laughing again and looking forward to waking up to a new day every day. I have been blessed with a job that I really enjoy where my recovery is also #1. I am excited to see what the future holds for me but there's no rush because it's one day at a time and I am loving living in the moment. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to be here and for the people that help make it happen!
Sober living America Marietta 1 is an amazing campus the staff here has been amazing and has treated me like family since I got here. they have helped me do a complete 360 in my life I have learned how to deal with a lot of issues in my life thanks to the help and suggestions from them and my sponsor. my life has gotten a lot better its not perfect but thanks to SLA everyday is literally better than the last I got a job and actually been able to hold it, they also helped me get a sponsor and work the steps which I really needed to help me in my recovery I would recommend this program to anybody who is really serious about there recovery and is willing to do anything to get it!!!
Sober living america is awesome. There really helping me focus on my recovery from addiction. From the minute I got here everyone including staff has been welcoming and encouraging.
I came to the Canton Sober Living America location from doing 14 &1/2 months in prison RSAT and scared to go back to where i grow up . Because i didn't want to go back to my old ways like I've done the other 3 times I got out of prison. So I came here from selling and doing drugs for over 30 yrs and to keep myself out of prison. So by coming to Sober Living America Canton GA I've got 17 months clean and have my family and kids back n my life that would not talk to me or trust me. but after 90 days of working this program and staying in my big book I've got my kids back in my life my parents are now talking and helping me out now in my life.. So this place has change my life in so many ways. The staff here are amazing especially Jordan he has helped me in so many ways and helps to keep me in my program as well as going through the big book with me.
SLA Greenville
Nikki was not only professional but friendly as well. She provided great services for SLA in regards to their guest services department. It was overall a good experience!
SLA Greenville is a great place with great staff. They care for the poor coming through the program and do all they can to help clients in their recovery!
My name is Ashley Cosby and I am a resident at SLA Greenville SC. we have a great staff and director. Also I'm really enjoying being here. The meetings are really helping Me. I'm really glad that I came here
My journey so far in sober living America has been great. Everyone is very welcoming including staff. They have helped me with everything I needed to get back on my feet. I am very grateful to be a part of this program and I don't feel alone in this world anymore.
Sober Living America is a JOKE! The staff make up fake email accounts and post phony reviews to get better ratings. There are 8 men crowded into every four bedroom apartment, and it is full of loud noisese, rude people and horrible smells. The staff constantly threaten residents, residents get into fights and the staff are two faced and sarcastic at best. Best of luck, but avoid if you can.
Review from Guidestar
Staff is very helpful. They let me come in with nothing but still felt comfortable. Great community. Feels great to be around people who are going through what I have been through.
Sober Living America has opened my eyes to a new future that I didn't know was possible. When I was in active addiction I thought I was a waste of time and Sober Living America has shown me that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I now have 110 days sober because of this amazing program
I came to College Park SLA 2 days ago and I was nervous at 1st but now I'm starting to see that i just might have a chance at this recovery. Staff here helped me with food that they gave me out their own refrigerator just to make sure that I was not hungry. I was so overwhelmed by the act of kindness that the director did for me. Staff has a plan for me to get a sponsor, and start working soon. I'm trying to get clean and sober so I can regain the love from my child who's too young to understand why I'm an addict but being here and making meetings are helping me one day at a time.
I came to SLA a few days ago to College Park. I can see the environment here is welcoming. Staff has helped me with food and I'm going to get a job today with their help. They gave me sheets for my bed and take me ti and from meetings. I'm not used to this but they are working with me to help me get a sponsor to work the 12 steps. i've never been so ready to get started on my recovery.
I was down on my luck and needed a solid foundation to build on. I have a felony record and an eviction in my background. Its hard for me to do almost anything that requires a background check or credit check. Sober Living America has given me a new chance at life. They got me a job and I have a roof over my head even with all the problems with my past. I am grateful there is a place like this that gives people like me a second chance at life.
It's been a life changing experience of the promises of living a clean and righteous life, family restored, permanent job and having joy, peace and love in my heart. To God be the Glory

I would recommend this program to anyone I knew struggling with addiction and alcoholism. The staff was very helpful in getting me settled in and went the extra mile to to help myself and the newcomers. The apartments are very clean and in nice neighborhoods so I felt comfortable from the start. They gave me transportation to and from work and meetings. I was able to get a sponsor right away. That with the tools this program provided me to get started in my recovery have changed my life in major ways.
This program has been nothing but a life changer for me. I was able to come in with no money, the staff helped get me a job right away, took me to get food stamps, and to the local food bank until I got back on my feet. They provide transportation to and from meetings which makes finding a sponsor and working the steps a whole lot easier when you are first getting started in your recovery.
I have had an absolutely wonderful experience with Sober Living America. They took me in without any money at all, which for most addicts like myself is crucial because I had no money and no more support from my family at that time. When I got to SLA, they took me to get food stamps, which I need very badly. They then took me to find employment, and they helped make it such an easy process. I started going to meetings and found a sponsor as well as a home group. I started working the steps like SLA and my sponsor highly recommended.
Me coming to sober living america College Park has been a rewarding experience for me. Making the decision was tough but the support that I have received so far is astonishing. They do Curriculum recovery assignments, take us to meetings, and help us get a sponsor. I came in with no food and until they could go to the food bank the staff made sure that I didn't go hungry by feeding me and offering me some food to take with me to my apartment. I just want to say thanks to the director Eryka for cooking last Sunday and all of the staff for helping me get back up on my feet.
So I've been here in College Park for a week now and things are starting to turn around for me. The staff has helped me with getting my Social Security Card, apply for food stamps, tomorrow we are going to see a doctor. I love the fact that the director makes sure that I make my meetings. It helps me become more responsible and fight for my recovery. I'm working on the 12 steps and building my relationship with my family and GOD. This is the best thing for for and I'm glad that I made the decision to come.
There's no doubt in my mind that SLA has saved my life. I've been a heroin addict for 17 years and by the grace of God I'm still alive. Sober Living is the only place that has accepted me for who I am and not what I have to offer. I couldn't ask for a better staff with Shannon, Frank, and Brian!! I love this place and for the first time in my life I can say I love myself!!
My story had been full of broken promices and relapses ! I was High fuctioning as far as job and home life had been but, there was still clouded thoughts and would end up in places that would have if kept returning would soon have me drunk again ! I chose to live sober and knew that i was not ready to live by myself because of recurring thoughts and actions ! I chose Sober Living America because of the reconnection to the AA program and the structure of living in a sober community this is what I needed and is totally thankful for the chance to be accepted into the program ! I did what was asked and attended meetings and eventually moved to staff job and loves the ability to help others on their path to recovery !
I struggled with alcoholism for years. I thought there was no hope left. Until I found Sober Living America. This place has truly changed my life. I have a new sense of purpose and confidence in my life. Very thankful a place like this exists and that I have found it.
Sober Living America Savannah GA
Sober Living America has changed my life. I came into the program broke and homeless. They never asked for any money upfront and helped me get a job and introduced me to AA.
This is community based recovery, teaching us about the 12 steps of Recovery. We pay our own way and learn how to reintegrate back into society. We attend meetings daily and go to church on Sunday. We even get to enjoy going to the beach on the weekends. The best part is I have my confidence back and I am reunited with family and loved ones. I have also made friends for life.
