Programs: Alternatives to domestic violence program (advp):founded in 1977, the mission of advp is to work cooperatively withother local service organizations to end domestic violence in spokanecounty. Advp, the county's only state-recognized domestic violenceservices provider, furnishes safe shelter, transitional housing, legaladvocacy, and counseling to survivors and their children. Advp servesapproximately 13,000 women and children annually.
ywca eceap:ywca eceap is a community-based, family-focused, comprehensive,pre-kindergarten program designed to help children and their familieswho are in poverty. Eceap prepares three and four year olds to succeedin school, while also helping their parents progress towardself-sufficiency. Ywca's four eceap sites serve 240 children and theirfamily members each year.
women's opportunity center programs: the mission of the center is to empower spokane's economically disadvantaged women to increase their earnings potential and pursue financial independence. Approximately 2,300 unemployed and underemployed women annually receive job readiness assistance,financial education, referral services, and emotional support. Program components include the job readiness program, our sister's closet - a free professional clothing boutique, and a staffed computer lab.
