Girl Scouts is a very worthy program for girls. All girls are welcome regardless of any socioeconomic status, race and religion. Girls gain strengths by participating in activities that reflect their mission statement of building girls of courage, confidence, character by giving them oportunities to participate in STEM activities (science, technology, electronics and math) participating in leadership programs (Journeys) to help prepare them for college, in a fun atmosphere where they get to learn with other girls by doing, leading, and participating in skill-building activities (badges) to gain hard skills for the future. In addition girls have the oportunity to participate in travel expeditions (Destinations) to places in the US and throughout the world, whether as an internship type situation or service project or just for the fun and experience. So many oportunities are available for the girls to take advantage of. They learn to earn money to finance their interest projects and valuable budgeting skills through programs like the Girl Scout cookie program. Oportunities are truly endless.

Mission: Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.Our dream is that every girl who wants to be a Girl Scout has the opportunity to do so. Girl Scouting opens up new worlds to girls who might not otherwise have the means, from traveling abroad to community service. The sky's the limit in Girl Scouting.
Target demographics: Girls between the ages of 5-18
Direct beneficiaries per year: 3,000 girls
Geographic areas served: Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho
Programs: Provide the girl scout leadership experience to girls in 20 counties of central and eastern washington and 10 counties of northern idaho. Through the program, girls participate in experiential education which supports their academic learning. Specific activities include science, technology, engineering and math, financial literacy, outdoor education, civic participation, self esteem and anti-bullying programs. The council serves 3,800 girls with the support of 720 adult volunteers.
