Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Arts & Culture, Ballet
Mission: The company exists to train dancers and to instill a deeper understanding of dance arts in our community. We pledge to offer professional training to aspiring dancers through our classes, training workshops and performance opporunities. We operate a repertory ballet company to provide professional performance experience and the essential element for our community outreach programs.
Programs: We partnered with the artscenter in carborro, nc and the durham arts council to provide our dance curriculum at those locations. We work with the nc symphony on two productions: holiday pops and a dr. Seuss musical. We commissioned a local high school theatre department to paint a backdrop for us, and we donated our studio space to arts in action, a national nonprofit that provides dance education through public schools. Passes were distributed to special needs populations to see our nutcracker production at no charge. We do not offer grants, but we did offer tuition assistance to five families based on financial need. As a tribute to the quality of training we provide, several of our dancers auditioned and were accepted into the following professional summer programs: american ballet theatre, american dance theatre, boston ballet, carolina ballet, the joffrey ballet, and the university of north carolina school of the arts. Our performing company was adjudicated and accepted into the south eastern regional ballet association/rda's national festival in phoenix, az.
