the tasc community grant initiative is a two year program focused on prevention and early intervention because children are approached at a young age to try drugs and alcohol. As a result, parents need research-based education and guidance on how to raise drug-free kids. Youth need additional education about the risks associated with substance use with the goal they will be influenced not to use. In arizona, 13 years old is the average age of first time drug use (source: arizona youth survey). 90% of adults suffering from addiction developed the problem between the ages of 12 to 20 years old (source: treatment research institute) underscoring the need to reach this population. Tasc provided grants to 6 organizations to help support education for youth drug prevention.
