Mission: To provide continuing forums for exchange of information and education to members through association, speakers and meetings on oncology.
Programs: - hosted two successful conferences in west des moines - one of which recognized outstanding iowa fellows with awards - that featured experts who discussed the latest developments in oncology, hematology, and healthcare policy. - awarded two travel awards to help outstanding iowa fellows attend a national oncology conference. - sponsored two fellows educational symposia to increase their knowledge of oncology and support their transition to independent practice. - continued to support the ios quality award program to provide financial assistance to member practices in their quest to obtain qopi certification. - provided funding for asco's young investigator award to help promote excellence in oncology research. - continued to be an informational resource for multidisciplinary cancer care teams in ia through regular dissemination of oncology news and healthcare policy updates through the website and e-newsletter. - supported the iowa cancer consortium held in october. - submitted comments regarding the cms macra rule, opps and pfs rules, and the icer methodology for value assessments of oncology drugs. - provided members educational opportunities under medicare's new quality payment program (created by macra) through webinars, calls, and meetings. - joined ia fail first coalition to advocate on step therapy.
