National Foundation for Cancer Research is spending all donors money for mailing flyers and fundraising request to millions of people in USA. I got 20+ request in last year or so. Money raised is spending on executive's salary, travel etc. instead of cancer research. The CEO & former CEO made millions from this charity (family charity). Employee's are so frustrated with them & no leadership. If you wants your money to go for cancer research then donate to other wonderful charities like American Cancer Society etc.
NFCR is rotten at the top and have been for 18 years. This organization pays its top two executives a combined $750,000 per year in salary and benefits. These top two executives are husband and wife. The CEO (husband) is the son of the founder and, unfortunately, a machine for repetitive gross, inappropriate sexual comments to men and women in the office. The President (wife) is a tyrant that causes turnover to top nearly 70% annually. The only reason turnover is not higher is because of the abuse of H1B visas. Don't look to the Board for cleaning house: They are either friends of the CEO and President or absent.
Only 10% of funds raised at the organization went to cancer research, despite their tagline of "Research for a Cure." The other 65% that was supposed to be "program expense" is junkmail solicitations wrapped in cancer "education and awareness" pieces.
This charity is a fraud. There are a multitude of cancer charities that support real research for a cure. Don't waste your money to line the pockets of the crooked top.
I was a long term donor to this charity & we STOPPED supporting this charity. The CEO and the President & COO are husband and wife team & their salary is $750,000 / YEAR. Only less than 20% of the total revenue raised is going to Cancer Research. They spend most of their money on fundraising and salary of employees.
The National Foundation for Cancer Research does great work in the cancer research field. As I have learned from attending many of their programs and events, they fund brilliant minds in the field of scientific cancer research and their work continues to lead to major breakthroughs.
I always enjoy getting involved with their many programs and learning more about the research they currently fund. I have also had the opportunity to meet the scientists and learn about their work and some of the groundbreaking discoveries that will help future generations.
I suggest you find ways to get involved with NFCR and support their programs, as this organization seems to be growing and doing some amazing things in the research field. I know I have personally enjoyed learning about their work and can't wait to see where they go in the future.
This charity is well known to being affiliated as the Asian Fund for Cancer Research. Money that goes here, eventually ends up in China with lavish trips and "research" in China for COO, Dr. Ba. She runs NFCR to fund her lifestyle and popularity in China.
Review from Guidestar
Nothing more than a "junk mail" charity. So many solicitations every month, I cant count them all. PLEASE STOP!
NFCR has to be one of the most dysfunctional and least effective charities in the world. The President runs it like her personal concierge service and everyone is afraid to cross her when she actually comes into the office. The charity relies completely on direct mail and spends the VAST majority of it's funds paying the company that manages that. VERY little goes to cancer research. Makes me sick to imagine all those people that give us small amounts so it can go toward the President (wife) &CEO (Husband) salary (a total of about 1 million dollar) and raising more money. Most research money actually spent all goes to China so the President can look good there in her home country.
Time for a reboot. The place is dysfunctional. My advice to the Board is stand up and make NFCR great by focusing on the true mission of curing cancer. The groups budget for cancer research is less than 10%. Shameful.
The Board of this organization continues to allow CEO and the President of group (who are married to one another) to make over $750,000 year in salary, pay for lavish trips and fancy lifestyles, while organization continues to have a serious decline in funds to support cancer research. Research on the decline while salaries go up, this organizations Board should be ashamed. This is no way to manage a Charity.
This organization is well-known as one that supports the unethical and inhumane treatment of animals in the name of cancer research. The management of this group should be ashamed for supporting cruel research on dogs, monkeys, cats, mice and other animals.
Charity run by husband and wife making over $750,000 a year with additional perks as joining exclusive clubs with Foundations money, using foundation airline miles for personal travel and first class international travels. Board of Directors need take a look at other charities to see comparable salaries and bonuses. This is a charity and should be used to cure cancer, not make people rich.
I am so pleased that the anonymous poster below -- who creates a new fake account every time he posts -- is finally being honest and admitting that his rants on this page are all just personal attacks. You are the worst kind of coward. You are slandering a charity that has fought to cure cancer for over 40 years - just because you hate the woman who fired you.
The truth is that NFCR is a GREAT NONPROFIT. Please stop the personal attacks and please stop pretending to be so many different people. We get it... you can stop now. For people wishing to help fight cancer -- this kind of activity is nauseating.
I have witnessed despicable behavior on this page. Shame on Great Nonprofits for allowing such hateful lies to be spread here by internet trolls with an axe to grind. In particular, one former employee of this charity - who was fired for misconduct - is using fake names and posting anonymously to repeatedly commit personal attacks. Just see the attack comment below this one. Do not believe the hatred. Dr. Sujuan Ba is a scientist and leader who has dedicated her life to cancer research. The National Foundation for Cancer Research supports leading edge science in the lab and has done so for generations. Shame. Shame. Shame.
I DECIDED NOT TO SUPPORT THIS CHARITY ANYMORE. I am a long time major donor to this charity. I was planning to incorporate National Foundation for Cancer Research in to my will and decided to do some homework. Then I found all these remarks about the President (Ms. Ba) and her husband CEO (Mr. Salisbury) on Guidestar, Charity Navigator and Glassdoor etc. I spoke to several employees and volunteers from this organization. They said many positive reviews are written by their employees (Ms. Zhao, Ms. Diamond, Mr. Wang etc.) and their consultants/vendors (Mr. Frame, Ms. Funt, Mr. Belmar etc.). I independently checked whether they are employees/vendors/consultant and is very true. That made me furious.
The Husband (Mr. Salisbury) and wife (Ms. Ba) together make $750,000/year as salary and benefit. They leave in a Mansion & drive BMW's. Members of several private clubs in Washington, DC, New York City, China etc. At least 25 employees left NFCR in last few years because of the toxic work environment. I am not sure the NFCR board is aware of this fact. These two executives are running the foundation. The FOUNDER is charged with FRAUD (for 25 MILLION dollars). They are trying to fool American public and making huge salary instead of supporting cancer research.
NFCR.ORG is a wonderful organization that is dedicated to finding a cure. NFCR helped coordinate the care of my father as well as the care of my best friend. My family has been so impressed with the organization that, in an effort to give back to those that have given so much, our daughter volunteered for them this summer.
What a great group of folks.
Keep up the good work, and let's find a cure together!
Clark Minker, Naples FL
i am stage 3 breast cancer survivor. I have know Sujuan Ba both professionally and personally for over 15 years and there is not anyone more devoted to finding a cure for cancers. I
Believe so much In what NFCR is doing for cancer Rsh that I have them in my will. NFCR is making great strides to curing cancer and Sujuan Ba and the rest of the staff are dedicated to making that happen.
DO NOT CONTRIBUTE or buy airline miles to support this group. If you do, they will NOT STOP asking you for more money. I have at least 20 letters, emails and even a phone call from them asking me for more money. I regret that I ever bought airline miles for their cause.
This groups idea of "Cancer education" is a flyer stuck in a fundraising packet...over 50% of all funds raised go into raising more funds...another $720,000/year go into the husband and wife's pockets.
I have personal experience with this charity, as my brother has battled cancer - twice. My experience is that the organization provides seed funding for research to some of the most exciting research concepts in this arena, so that scientists can test out new interventions. These research projects then have the potential to go on to get greater funding from NIH and other large institutions.
My perception is that some folks may not understand the funding cycle of doing real, innovative cancer research, and the vital role that "seed stage" funders like NFCR play.
In digging a little bit behind the numbers, here is what I have found:
Since inception until end of 2014, NFCR raised $484 million from public support and spent $331 million on research, and public information and education.
For the last 10 years, NFCR raised $152 million from public support and spent $112 million on research, and public information and education.
Charity Navigator show over 49% of ALL Expenses this charity go to fundraising. Fifty cents of every dollar! And that does not include salaries of husband and wife.
It takes sustainable financial support to move cancer research forward. Yet the spending capacity of the National Institutes of Health has declined more than 20% over the past decade. The success rates for research grant applicants have dropped from 30% to 14%! (Read the recent interview of the 2015 Szent-Györgyi Prize winner Dr. Fred Alt with Huffington post http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/04/30/nih-cancer-research_n_7180894.html).
Visionary organizations like NFCR are playing an increasingly important role for scientists to test their new ideas and transform research findings into new treatments and diagnostic tools that save lives. So proud to be part of NFCR!
I was recently privileged to attend the 2015 Albert Szent-Györgyi Prize for Progress in Cancer Research, which is presented by NFCR. Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) gave an inspiring (and alarming) keynote address about the crisis facing cancer research funding in this country: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqNIidNEYY4 That is why the work that NFCR does is so important.
When I began volunteering at NFCR in 2014, I was absolutely blown away by the quality of the scientific researchers that this organization supports -- many of whom they have supported for decades. As a trained cancer researcher (Ph.D. in Medical Physics, UW-Madison), I recognize the critical role that NFCR plays. By providing these scientists with "seed funding" on a long-term basis, NFCR allows them to pursue truly transformative ideas wherever their research leads, without getting caught up in red tape. In terms of "bang for the buck" in the fight against cancer, there's no better model.
Thoroughly inspired by their mission and genuinely impressed with their remarkable track record over 40 years, I was thrilled to join the NFCR team.
I recently came across this science news release “NFCR-supported scientists discover key factor in brain cancer resistance”. The release says that scientists at a Research Center it funds just discovered a key factor in brain cancer resistance. I copied the link here if anyone is interested to read more. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/releases/292729.php
This organization does great work in supporting cancer research and one can clearly see this from the results produced with their funding. I’m impressed by what they do!
This charity is hardly charitable. Will not stop sending me mail despite multiple requests to stop. My husband and I receive more than 20 solicitations from them a year. The amount of money wasted on printing and postage could have funded 10 research projects. Please stop....biggest mistake I made was donating to this group.
From day one, NFCR has stood apart from larger cancer charities and government science funding institutions because we support the cutting edge research that those other groups can't and won't fund. NFCR is dedicated to supporting "high risk/high reward" cancer research and public education relating to prevention, early diagnosis, better treatments and, ultimately, a cure for cancer. With the help of 4.5 million individual donors over the last 40 years, NFCR has delivered more than $320 million in funding to cancer research leading to numerous breakthroughs, including prevention strategies, earlier diagnostic techniques, and new anticancer drugs and therapies.
As a professional currently working with many different charities, and in my former role on staff at NFCR, I can say without hesitation that this is a charity that makes every attempt to fund the best cancer research in the world. Take a look at the institutions the scientists they fund work for -- Yale, MD Anderson, Dana Farber, Georgetown. The impact of NFCR's work is far reaching, truly global -- and that's a good thing.
This year my business partner was diagnosed with breast cancer and without the assistance of NFCR's leadership team and science network, things could have turned out much different. Thankfully, she now has a clean bill of health except for a year's treatment of Herceptin (a drug which NFCR's funding helped create).
The fact that NFCR spends its money on research in the lab (as opposed to running high-profile awareness events, or courting company sponsorships) is what inspires me to support their mission. The fact that they've had the vision to seek out, and align the efforts of, the best scientists from all over the world shows to me that they know what it takes to accelerate the pace of bringing an end to this terrible disease.
I am a donor of the National Foundation for Cancer Research. As a cancer survivor and a scientist working in the field of biomedical research, I believe the research funded by this foundation is focused on addressing the key challenges facing the early detection of cancer and the drug resistance problems related to cancer treatment. I make my donations to encourage them to continue doing these research that would give cancer patients more chance to survive longer with improved quality of life.
On the Thanksgiving Day in 2014, I am very thankful for being given the opportunity to work at this foundation for 12 years, which has allowed me to make my personal contributions to the field of cancer research that brings clinical benefits to millions of cancer patients in the US and around the world. What I like most about this foundation is its mission to find cures for cancer by doing research and its collaborative approach to speed up the process of translating the research results from laboratories into clinical benefits to cancer patients. Since I joined this foundation in 2002, I have witnessed many research breakthroughs coming out of the research labs funded by NFCR, and more promising research progress will be made in 2015 and beyond. I will continue to work here and keep doing the very best I can to find cures for cancer and to save lives of cancer patients.
I worked at this organization briefly, realized they really don't care much about cancer but how to connect with privileged people from China and the U.S. Of course, ever since Ba and the president got married, they shifted their focus heavily to China. They spend tons of money on "fundraising" event in Cancun, Mexico, to accommodate government officials from China. And I remember Ba, the wife, who is Chief Operation Officer, only fly non-stop/ first class flight and is member of many luxurious hotels and clubs. They even bring their family businesses at work, asked employees to do paperwork for their son's passport and Chinese visa. They hired some really nice Americans to be the donor relationship officers, who usually make really friendly, nice phone calls to follow up. But remember, this is not the foundation who can fulfill your wish and help cancer research.
My experience has been positive with this charity- I care about research and that is their focus. They respond to my gift promptly and frequently send me updates on progress. I think we need to judge charities on the effectiveness of their stated mission.
I have been a Volunteer for NFCR for over 10 years. It his by far the single most rewarding experience I have ever had. NFCR funds cutting edge cancer research that saves lives. I have interacted with the entire NFCR team. It is a very impressive group their commitment to reach their goals never waivers.
I have Chaired a Fund Raising Golf tournament for over 6 years. Our Golf Tournament has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars that have gone directly to Cancer research. NFCR goes out of their way to help anyone find a Clinical Trial that could help save their life.
I am very proud to be affiliated with such an outstanding organization.

I have been a volunteer for National Foundation For Cancer Research for over 6 years.
The commitment to finding a cure to multiple Cancers is unbelievable!!
They are without a doubt the most advanced in working with the top scientist globally.
I am very proud to say that I volunteer for such a first class and caring organization.

My wife and I have volunteered for NFCR for over 10 years helping them with many fundraising events including auctions, golf tournaments, and fundraisers partnered with such charities as Wounded Warriors. We've seen much of the wonderful and cutting edge approaches to cancer treatment that they pioneered yield countless successful treatments. We are both very impressed with the number of leading cancer researchers that they have provided funding for resulting in unique lab bench to operating room protocols and methods of cancer treatment being delivered to deserving patients quickly and effectively. We are pleased and proud to be associated with NFCR, an outstanding local Bethesda, MD research charity and encourage others to experience the satisfaction of donating their time, money, and other resources to NFCR as we have for over a decade.

The most effective and expedient "bench to bedside" research teams in the business. Truly customized individual treatment plans are their specialty since no two cancers and patients are exactly the same. Very responsive to requests for referrals to the best oncology professionals and facilities. The vast majority of contributions go directly to research and not overhead. I have worked with them as a volunteer for over 8 years and never cease to be impressed.
My experience with National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) for the last 11 years has been wonderful. They have a unique way to distribute their funding to maximize the impact on cancer research. Do not take my words. Learn more about NFCR yourself. You will like it.
Several years ago I attended a Luncheon with a friend. It was a fundraising event for The National Foundation for Cancer Research. I have attended every year since then and was so impressed with what they are accomplishing I got involved in helping them raise funds.. What i admire the most about NFCR is their commitment to the exploration of cutting edge therapies and research by scientists who are making great advances in the fight against many kinds of cancer. I am very impressed with the staff as well.
I lost my grandpa to pancreatic cancer a few months ago and since then cancer research becomes my top 1 cause. I got to know this foundation via my friend who is a long-term donor of this organization and she told me lots of great work NFCR has done and then I decided to send in my first gift. Not long after my first donation, I received a thank-you phone call, not asking for any more money, but just thanking me for supporting their mission. The staff on the call was very caring and considering; I really felt she understood my pain and why I was motivated to donate. I think I will support this organization again in the future.
Curing cancer through research! Yes! I got acquainted to this group through a friend and after listening to Dr. Danny Welch talk about the need to continue to invest in research I am a believer. I did not understand most of what he was talking about on the science level, but I am glad there are folks like him out there fighting to cure this awful disease. Go Dr. Welch!
I was able to participate in the NFCR Annual Golf Tournament in Fall 2013 and was deeply moved by the difference this organization is making in lives around the world. It was impressive to see cancer researchers and patients together, both helping to make a difference. Great group of people. Passionate and considerate.

Research will lead to a CURE for cancer. This group makes a difference in thousands of peoples lives a year.
I was an intern with this charity for over 6 months and all the staff there are very diligent and working their best to raise more funds and awareness for cancer research. They treat every donation seriouesly and make sure the money will go to the most priomising research fields that can lead to new treament options for cancer patients.
After losing several family members to cancer, I became passionate about cancer research. When I learned about National Foundation for Cancer Research and their innovative approach and scientific breakthroughs to-date, I knew it was an organization I had to support. They offer me great hope that we are winning the war on cancer and the next big breakthrough is just around the corner.
I first found National Foundation for cancer research through our team hosting a Play4theCure fundraiser. Our team hosted our fundraiser last Thursday and it was incredible to see all the players strengthening their teamwork outside of the sports. Most importantly we knew that the funds collected during the game were going to fund meaningful research.
If you spend time to compare the cancer research programs among charitable organizations, you will find the quality of the programs of National Foundation for Cancer Research are second to none. It is a small engine but it could find a cure, with continuous funding. Don't take my words, do your research.
I have been a supporter for the National Foundation of Cancer Research for over a decade. I am very impressed by their passions, commitments and devotions for the "Saving Life" projects they have been engaged with the top scientists in the world. They also have an amazing donor relationship program to keep donors aware of the breakthroughs of cancer research. Very pleased with the organization.
National Foundation for Cancer Research is an amazing organization that is passionate about finding a cure for Cancer. The "Play4theCure" campaign is an amazing opportunity for young athletes to get involved with a cause that's bigger than themselves. It allows youth to make a difference doing something they are passionate about!
I have worked with this organization for over 14 years. There is no group in America that has more passion to fulfilling their mission of curing cancer. Franklin Salisbury is the President and he brings this passion to work everyday. I am proud to work with this group.
Recently worked with Dr. Sreekumar Raghavakaimal from NFCR. Very professional and an excellent scientist in cancer research. The whole organization was top notch!
The group recently held a "Party for Life" in PA...it was a wonderful memory of Lucy Stankovich...what a wonderful person.
Look at the salaries of the leaders - they are married and together take home more than half a million dollars of your donations. It is outrageous that they have been allowed to continue operating. Many well-intentioned donors think their money is going to cancer research and not the fat salaries of the administrators and direct mail companies. If you give $100 to this organization $57 dollars goes to the profit-making companies that send the mail asking for money, $6 goes to the personal salaries of the leaders, and a mere $37 goes to cancer research!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! see charity navigator.
Looking for a cure for a sickness that kills thousands each year is something that needs to be of the utmost concern of all of us! This organization has proved for a very long time to be committed to towards putting their money into research that has resulted in some important discoveries in the search for a way to eradicate this disease once and for all! I will continue to stand behind them as I have for quite some time now.

Thankfully, my family has never had to experience the horrors of cancer firsthand. But like most of us out there, that's not say it hasn't had an impact on my life. I have had to watch close friends go through the sorrow of losing a loved one and it is a feeling of hopelessness to go through. I connected with the National Foundation for Cancer Research because they give me a sense of hope that one day we will discover a cure for cancer and that one day we will never have to experience the sorrow of losing a loved one in such a way.

Not the largest cancer non-profit but so far, in my experience, it has been the most personable. Everyone who I have spoken to has been very helpful and their phone staff is very knowledgeable about their organization. This is an organization with a good reputation and a long history of working to help fund cancer research.
Review from CharityNavigator
This charity's mission is a fine one. It focuses on metastatic cancer research, where hardly anyone else does. I will continue to support this charity. All the negative comments are most likely attributed to folks who have had bad experiences directly with this charity. As my mother said (who also died of ovarian cancer in the nineties, stage 4 when it was diagnosed, I wish I knew of NFCR's work then) "Don't say anything if you have nothing nice to say"
Review from CharityNavigator
I give to the Relay for Life every year and so do not give to all other cancer foundations. However, I do not think "second request" is appropriate for all the world to see on the envelope they send. What are they trying to prove, that humiliation will work?
Review from CharityNavigator
This foundation has a very low rating. A huge portion of donated funds gets spent on fundrasing and not on cancer research. The CFO and COO are married and together take more than $500,000 in annual salary (this also comes from your donations).
Was looking for an area nonprofit to donate to. They guy on the phone is nice. But doing the research on them... how embarrassing for their COO Sujuan Ba.
Review from CharityNavigator
I am a long time employee of NFCR. I lost a family member before I joined this organization. I researched many charities before choosing NFCR. Because of the way NFCR funds and chooses the science and projects, more discoveries have reached the patients. They are a leader in "Targeted Therapies". Cancer treatment is and will be very personalized medicine. NFCR's management team (and staff) are caring and dedicated professionals. Our donors have access to ALL of our management team. Our donors are the reason for our success. Donations are spent on CANCER RESEARCH. The board of directors are involved, we are audited every year, and we are the most open group you will find. All finacial documents are posted on our web site (www.NFCR.org). If you, like myself, have lost a loved one or dear friend and want to make a difference in the progress of cancer research, do you own checking, I am sure that you will choose to support The National Foundation for Cancer Research.
Cancer research is important to me as I have lost people dear to me to cancer and I like to support a charity where research is the emphasis. Liz K.
I have lost two family members to cancer and I know exactly how devastating it is to the cancer patients and their families…but I do believe that one day cancer can be cured, and this has to be achieved by cancer research that is continuously delivering new treatment options for the patients. That’s what NFCR is doing and that’s why I am supporting them.
When my sister died from cancer I turned to NFCR to help make a difference. I read all of their mail and read all about the research projects they are working on. I knoe that my money is being used for true science.
I trust this organization because it selects the real top-notch cancer researchers in the field - that's how a donor's money can be put to the best use.
NFCR is supports cancer research! Without NFCR, much of the breakthroughs in the past 5 years would not have happened, as their foundation level funding structure is not adapted by larger charities and pharmaceutical companies.
After researching many cancer related charities I came across NFCR. I found there, my dollars made the most impact. They fund established leading cancer researchers pursuing their newest most innovative ideas. The research NFCR funds is truly groundbreaking because it allows brilliant minds the ability to pursue NEW ideas or approaches to cancer. This provides crucial initial data on uncharted areas. With this data researchers can obtain larger government grants and expand. But other grants don't allow for this type of seed funding though. It is NFCR's funding that leads to real breakthroughs in cancer. I have loved working with NFCR and hope more people can understand the significance and need for this type of funding. They aren't a big flashy name. They are all about real science. Check out what their researchers say...http://nfcr.org/about-nfcr/testimonials
Though prevention is important and NFCR educates the public on how to prevent cancer, they are also committed to finding a CURE for cancer, and their research is crucial to finding one. I believe research will cure cancer instead of just preventing it.
To control CANCER we need to develope 1) an effective approach to prevent cancer 2) very sensitive early detection tests and 3) new targeted cancer therapies. National Foundation for Cancer Research is a world leader in Cancer Research and funding scientists working in these 3 areas. Many of these discoveries are now transilated into more effective cancer treatments and diagnostic tests. That is why I donate to National Foundation for Cancer Research.

Just attended the Annual Szent-Gyorgyi Prize for Progress in Cancer Research with the NFCR....what a great charity and a great vision. Cancer will only be cured through RESEARCH! Keep up the great work!
PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS CHARITY. Mr. Franklin Salisbury (President) & Mrs. Sujuan Ba (Chief Operating Officer) are HUSBAND and WIFE. Together they take home about $650,000 / year. Looting money from American public. IRS should investigate this charity.
Review from Guidestar
It is difficult to learn from the charity itself how much goes to support cancer research.
Review from CharityNavigator
Several of my family members and friends were impacted with cancer. The cancer incidence are going up. To control cancer we need to develop more effective cancer prevention approach and early detection tests . I supported few cancer charities in the past. After reviewing many of these cancer charities I came to the conclusion that NFCR is one of the leading charity that support these kind of research. That is why I decided to support NFCR and is the only cancer related charity I support.
my aunt died from pancreatic cancer three years ago...it was very
devastating for the family and that is why I donate to cancer research.
this org's approach is right on target...curing cancer thru research, that's
where i see hope . I only wish the cure will come sooner...
Review from Guidestar
NFCR consistently has been visionary in funding the types of cutting edge research that have led to breakthroughs in cancer research. These are paradigm shifters, game-changers that make possible insights that never before were even on the horizon. NFCR was one of the first cancer research charities to support research at the molecular level to gain understanding in the role of oncogenes and DNA in tumors. The money spent by NFCR for research has gone a long, long way, with a ripple-effect far beyond the initial research findings. This is a fact which scientists know but not one which is easy to quantify for an obvious reason. It is hard to put a number on "quality" just as it is hard to put a number on "integrity." And NFCR has both---at the top of the scale.
This organization supports top-notch cancer researchers and very innovative programs. I googled some of the scientists it funds and I was impressed by what they have accomplished. NFCR connects donors to the best research minds and continues to fund the type of cancer research that will make a difference.
Review from Guidestar
NFCR is one of the most effective cancer research charity in America. NFCR funding made possible discoveries that lead to new approaches to treating cancer, i.e., targeted cancer therapies and companion molecular diagnostics, anti-angiogenesis drugs, preventions like lycopenes, to name but a few.
The lives saved, the hope and promise these novel cancer therapies are giving to cancer patients should make anyone want to contribute to NFCR.
Review from Guidestar
This charity is sickening. The CEO and the COO are married and together bring in over $500, 000 a year!! (over $260,000 a year each????) They have a small mom and pop charity that supposidly dilligently works toward finding a cancer cure lol. Not sure how you do that when you have to take 500,000 out of the income every year. This is a scam!
Do not contribute to this charity. This world would be a better place without people like this in it. The rich get richer because we allow them to.
NFCR is a great company with amazing and friendly staff. My friends and I first volunteered for the company in the summer of 2008 and we continue to do so throughout the summer of 2009. Our "boss", Erin Stewart Chen, is one of the best leaders. She works so well with both her co-workers and us as high school volunteers. She provides us with specific information and works with us every step of the way to help make this foundation even better. The company itself works for a great cause, and that is why my friends and I enjoy volunteering for this outstanding foundation every year.
I am very impressed with the professionalism, passion and hard work of the NFCR team. I am a Marketing & Communications Intern, and I work directly with Erin Stewart Chen on fundraising, branding, partnership strategies and online media. NFCR is definitely an organization that is constantly looking for creative ways to improve, reach out and expand. The team is not only highly competent, but also motivated and passionate about the cause. I really enjoyed working with NFCR and I look forward to continue working with them!
NFCR keeps notching up its own high bar when it comes to supporting cutting-edge cancer research. NFCR has a remarkable record of looking over and beyond the current "paradigm" to catch a glimpse of the future---and then finding the most brilliant and innovative scientist to conduct the research, such as genetic approaches to cancer research. Scientific breakthroughs occur with radically transformative insights. Cancer research is no exception. And that's why NFCR has played and continues to play such a vital role in finding a cure for cancer.
I had the pleasure of working with Erin from the NFCR on a Metastatic Breast Cancer Fundraiser at Pocmont Resort. We had a fun filled day with info booths, Q&A's, Videos, games, DJ Dinner dance and more. Over $7,000 was raised and all monies were donated to the NFCR for metastatic research. They were hands on and amazing to work with. The NFCR had a booth at our fundraiser as well as stayed throughout the whole event through the late evening hours. Their website is informative and easy to navigate. I thank them for their hard work and efforts and I look forward to working with them again!
After being diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer, I started a fundraiser. NFCR has been wonderful. They are one of the few organizations whose research focuses on metastatic disease. What really attraced me is that all the money goes right to the researchers, no overhead. Their website was easy to navigate so I could find the info I needed--they even have a how-to for fund-raisers. In addition, the staff is amazing--we worked with Erin Stewart-Chen who soon felt like one of the family--she came to our event (from MD to PA), had a table, and participated in everything. NFCC, while it may be a big organization has such a small, intimate feel to it. I even got an email from teh doctor our money went to saying, "Thanks." Erin and NFCR were ready to help in any way they could and I look forward to many more years of working with NFCR.
I have had an excellent experience working with the NFCR. I contacted and researched many non-profit organizations committed to cancer research, and was attracted by the NFCR’s track record and approach. The NFCR has been incredibly supportive and transparent in their communication with me. Together we are currently raising funds– and I am 100% satisfied and convinced that both our efforts and collected donations will make a difference in the fight against cancer. If you are looking to work with others in an effort to cure cancer, I recommend you contact the NFCR about donating your time or making a financial contribution. The people are amazing to work with, and the successful research projects they have funded speak volumes about the organization’s effectiveness.
