Mission: Capaw is organized to develop and implement leadership programs that prepare, motivate and empower asian pacific women to increase the number and improve the quality of asian pacific american leadership in america.
Programs: Apawli program - this is the signature leadership program. The three, one-week program for apawli begins with foundational aspects of whole-person leadership. Included in the program were physical aspects such as yoga. Session 1 feb 1-3 san francisco, ca build a strong foundation physically, mentally and emotionally to take on challenges faced in society, work and community. Session 2 oct 18-20 seattle, wa fulfilling your potential, whole person leadership, story of self, transcultural leadership, power & authenticity, people first, by design, session 3 apr 11-14 washington dc aapi women in leadership, skills in campaigns and communities (apaics), studio aapi (media training), inspirational speaker from comcast, apawli alumni panel, reception.
regionals - 11/4/2017 in houston, tx. Theme was leading into the future: creating opportunities for aapi women across communities. This event was in partnership with the houston community college. It was a one day conference, coaching resource center, marketplace and reception/networking. The event included many local leaders in houston, including representation from amegy bank, titan management, shell, bp, wal-mart, aarp, comcast and cole chemical. The conference included speakers and supporters from both private and public sectors. Topics included, leading with your whole brain, leadership skills & managing the generations, civic and community engagement, transitioning careers. Attendees were approximately 100.
summit bi-annual summits provide communities across the nation to gather together for multiple days to discuss issues, learn new skills, connect with each other, and support and celebrate themselves and our communities. Every other year is used to vet sites, cities and on ground support for the program which is slated to occur every other year.
