Mission: Tca educates texans about protecting the state's natural resources and builds alliances among a broad spectrum of the public interested in protecting wildlife habitat, water and other natural resources. The alliance holds outdoor events to connect people to nature.
Programs: Water recycling, storm water management, and water conservation: education campaign in the dallas area to disseminate information on water resource issues. Includes briefings to community leaders, information to media, and programs to educate about water recycling and use of green infrastructure when road-building. Target audiences include city officials, water utility employees, engineers, landscape architects, civic organizations, conservation groups, and regional planing councils. Corollary activities include dissemination of a video and exhibition of a trade show exhibit about water recycling.
protecting the neches river: education campaign to raise visibility for protecting the aquatic habitat and bottom-land hardwood forests of the neches river corridor. Project includes: 1. Raising visibility for the importance of the river ecosystem. 2. Supporting designation of the state paddling trails. 3. Improving recreational access to the river. 4. Assisting volunteers who monitor water quality. 5. Building support for land acquisition for the neches river natl wildlife refuge. 6. Forming a 'friends of the refuge' group for the neches river nwr. 7. Holding outdoor programs and giving programs to civic groups.
collaborative project development under authority of the healthy forest restoration act: project includes: 1. Locating and working with us forest service to protect sensitive ecosystems and key natural resources within timber harvesting and prescribed burning projects on national forest lands in texas. 2. Identifying and documenting areas of the national forests in texas with significant plant communities and unique features and promoting proposals for resignation of those areas as special management areas. 3. Commenting on a draft guidance documents, environmental assessments, and proposed management actions.
