Our experience with Pooch Savers was first-rate at every step of the adoption. We found their Rescue after a search on Petfinder, we went to look at the dogs, and they were exactly what we wanted. The adoption process was new to us since we adopted a dog 17 years ago who recently passed. Everyone was very helpful, especially Scott. It’s been two weeks since we brought two sisters home, and we couldn’t be happier with them! My wife, and I, couldn’t be happier with the help from Pooch Savers bringing home our girls!

Pooch Savers does such incredible work. They are truly the people who save “underdogs” so they can become Super Dogs! Our own sweet girl was rescued by them with lots of initial medical needs and a sad story. She is definitely a Super Dog now, healthy and so beloved! You guys are terrific!!

Can’t say enough great things about this rescue! We researched many rescues before deciding on Pooch Savers when we were looking to add to our family. Scott and Lisa take great care in finding the perfect fit for the dogs in their care and provided follow up support to help our boys transition into our home! We are forever grateful for being trusted with the care of our two rescues!

Pooch Savers was so kind and fueled my adoption interest. I could tell they really cared for their animals and made me feel confident that I was adopting from a good place. I was able to spend time with a pup and work with them to make sure they were a good fit, which I didn't expect. They're always so welcoming.

We stumbled upon this rescue by accident when we moved to the area and stopped by Petsmart on a weekend. We had lost our little gal about nine months prior and saw a pup that reminded us of her and knew we had to adopt her. The rescue was easy to work with, very friendly and upfront, and made the whole experience enjoyable. We ended up finding out that the gal was pregnant and since we have been fosters in the past for other organizations, we are happy to say we saw her through the pregnancy and foster the little ones for the rescue. They have been great in that regard as well, scheduling appointments, paying for supplies and food, and always happy to help when needed.

We adopted our dog Bobby from Poochsavers about a year ago. From our first encounter we were so impressed by their dedication. The people who volunteer with this group truly love dogs, and they really do believe in their mission for giving these dogs a second chance. They followed up with us to make sure everything was going okay, they had great suggestions for a smooth transition, and they still periodically reach out to us. We believe in them so much we give monthly donations. Our next dog will definitely come from Poochsavers.

We adopted Lola & Layla two years ago from Pooch Savers and Scott and Lisa were absolutely amazing! "Our girls" bring us so much joy and we cannot imagine a life without them now. The work that Scott & Lisa and team do to save, foster, & find homes for animals is meticulous and thoughtful, we felt like they invest tremendous time and energy into finding the "best" home, not just a home for the animals they rescue.
We feel privileged and honored to have been entrusted with the care of these two precious spirits and not a day goes by that we aren't grateful to have found them.

I have seen first hand the selfless, loving, dedicated work of Pooch Savers Rescue. They take in dogs and not only save their lives, but give them lives and a future. They take in the unwanted. They take in the injured. They take in the elderly. They take in the abused, the abandoned. Pooch Savers takes these animals in, many times from death row in a kill shelter, vets them, shows them love, and no matter how long it takes, finds them a safe, loving home. The heart of Pooch Savers is Lisa and Scott, and they give EVERYTHING to the animals. I have personal knowledge that every ounce of energy and their entire lives are devoted to saving animals. They are angels here on Earth. Animals that Pooch Savers saves are literally brought back to life by Lisa and Scott. Then, when the animal is ready, Pooch Savers has a conscientious adoption application process so that they know their rescued animals are going to have a future life of love and health and care. Pooch Savers deserves to be recognized as a GREAT nonprofit.

I was blessed to adopt Sparky May 7/‘21 after meeting him April 30/‘21.
May 11, Sparky had a seizure. Having no experience with dog seizures, it scared me.
I immediately called Scott, he immediately responded & FaceTimed with me.
Scott remained in very close contact with me (made the mistake telling me I couldn’t send too many pictures ) for the time I had Sparky.
After the 2nd trip to the emergency hospital, it was determined on June 26/‘21 Sparky showed multiple signs of meningitis and best thing for him was to release him from his pain. Through a river of tears, I held Sparky close through the process telling him what a good boy he was and I loved him SO much!
This was unexpected for me as well as Scott & Lisa - especially painful after having to release my Mini Schnauzer just 6 mos prior.
From day 1 after meeting Sparky until final adoption, I felt given above the bar support, encouragement and love from Scott, Lisa and volunteer Home Interviewer, Lisa. Their dedication is testimony to their commitment to saving lives of literally thousands of deserving dogs out there.
Even though I only had Sparky 50 days, I know with the support, encouragement, love given to me from Pooch Savers Rescue, he had the best last 50 days of the love, attention he deserved.
I’m forever grateful to Pooch Savers Rescue and Sparky has a forever place in my heart!

Pooch Savers rescued Frankie (fka Murph) from a shelter at the Texas/Mexico border after he came in with a wound on his leg. Scott & Lisa arranged for him to be transported up to DFW and once here realized how serious his injury was and brought him to the ER. After an emergency leg amputation and blood transfusion (all covered by the rescue!) we fostered him but quickly realized he belonged with us permanently. We are so thankful for Pooch Savers for saving his life no matter the cost!

Lisa and Scott are incredible in their efforts to save every dog possible. Their passion for rescue is unmatched and they go above and beyond to find each dog the BEST homes, not just any home. Many of their adopters become repeat adopters, volunteers, and friends. There is nothing that they would not do to get a dog back to healthy and thriving and they do this all only off of the kindness of donors, often sacrificing their personal needs to ensure their rescues get everything they need.

PSR, Is one of the best rescues!!! Passionate, dedicated and committed, they work, 24/7. It’s never ending, effortless, and REPEAT!!! My experience with, PSR, has been very touching & heart-felt.

I came across a very sick & dying. One year old dog. Skin and bounds, very malnourished, this dog could not even lay down because she is so thin. Her body only allowed her to sit. This dog had been badly abused. So I took her in my home (with my three other dogs) And spent 8 months To completely rehabilitate her. Her name is Polly. At the time I found her. She had scars all over her paws and a big one by her eye. She has 107.3 fever. With bacterial pneumonia. So I had to train her and get her strong and healthy with nutrition.I believed in Polly and that she was going to make it through!! She went from being 30 pounds to 65 or 70 pounds. Which is where her weight should’ve been in the first place. Overtime I built a very strong bond with her!! Before I knew it she was happy, healthy and loving her new life. I couldn’t keep her. As much as I wanted to. I began looking for rescues that I was trying to find a place for her. So Polly could find her forever home. I reached out to numerous rescues everywhere, Texas, & out of Texas. No rescue could help me or even responded back to me. I wanted to give up & felt I had no hope at all.
Randomly one day I walked into Petsmart and saw, PSR, in the back. I shared my 13 month story with Scott and Lisa. And what I had been through. They’re the first rescue that wanted to help me and Polly.Even though they could not take her in as one of their dogs. They told me I was more than welcome to bring Polly up to their adoption events & they would try to help me get Polly adopted. This meant the world to me. Just them caring enough and wanting to help me. Got me through this experience. Polly was a very big dog… But… A very loyal, Playful and sweet girl!!Highly rambunctious and it was going to take a very special family for her to find her forever home.

*** (Keep in mind I have now had Polly for 13 months.Energy level is outrageously high. And I was desperately trying to find a place for her. she was really stressing me out. And everybody around me kept telling me to take her to the shelter. But I knew what would happen and there’s no way I was going to allow that. Not after her one year of life has been for her.)

I made a promise to Polly at the ER. I said,” if you fight for your life, I will fight for you. And take you home to help you recover.” This was a very emotional time for me being at the ER with her. The veterinarian wanted me to euthanize her. “Saying, “She’s not gonna make it through the day, I’m surprise she’s alive. She’s not worth the money spending on to save her.” I was quoted $4 or 5k to treat her.I wasn’t going to put her down. I wanted to give her an opportunity to see if her body would fight and recover at the ER. And to everybody’s amazement she pulled through the night and I brought her home the next morning.

So for the next 13 months I kept my promise and kept fighting to find her a place to live. For a family to love on her. She deserves the best& to the fullest! Having Polly up at these adoption events. Brought me so much hope!! I am very thankful and grateful for Scott and Lisa, graciously, Allow me to bring Polly to these events. Polly’s story does have a happy ending. Another rescue in a different state. Heard about Polly. And they drove down to Texas to come get her. And I’m happy to report she’s living a very happy, happy, wonderful life in Minnesota!!

The more I got to know Scott and Lisa. I can honestly say, “This is one highly commendable, Honorable and respectable, rescue.”Every dog they bring in becomes their family! They’ve been faithful and very loyal to the call!! And they keep on going. They care so much about what they do & it shows! It’s very extraordinary how they’re able to do this every day.

I enjoy going to the adoption events on the weekends. Their is a Contagious energy. So much love goes on at these events. They are making a difference. It brings so much positivity & hope. And with the world we live in today. We ALL our seeking for this.

Thanks PSR, for all you do!!! You guys do so much!!! It takes a special kind of person to be in the rescue, industry, doing what you guys do every day!!!

Kindest regards,

Melissa

I have known Lisa and Scott for about two years. We live in San Antonio and I was on petfinders when a beautiful little dog named Peanut came before my eyes. He had all kinds of health issues and I reached out to the rescue who had him, Pooch Savers Rescue, in Dallas, to contribute to his care. Since that time I have been amazed by the compassion, love, and untiring efforts that Lisa and Scott of Poochsavers expend for all their animals, most who have extreme medical problems. Most other rescues would walk away but not them. Since that time I communicate regularly with them and come to see them every time I am in Dallas, which is 2-3 times a year. My husband and I contribute regularly to this organization, even more than to similar groups here in San Antonio. They work tirelessly for the most needy of the rescue animals and devote themselves completely for their passion. I cannot think of another animal rescue group I respect more.

I met 8 yr old, 5.5 lb. Sparky at a Pooch Savers Rescue event at PetSmart, Plano, Tex. April 30/‘21 and was blessed to adopt him May 7/‘21. Still grieving from loss of my Mini Schnauzer Dec. 30/‘20 plus family & friends in 2020, there was an empty spot in my heart to love another dog.
From the moment I picked Sparky up, I knew PSR cared about this adoption and that Scott & Lisa Brooks as well as Lisa Devany had my back.
Sparky had a seizure 5/11/‘21 - scared me, didn’t know what to do. Called Scott, he answered & immediately FaceTimed with me to observe Sparky.
Long story short, I only had Sparky 50 days. Turned out Sparky’s seizures were more than epilepsy - most likely meningitis affecting several areas of his brain.
After seeming to be doing well, Sparky had a massive cluster seizure June 26/‘21 that he couldn’t be brought out of when taken the 2nd time to emergency hospital. He wasn’t going to get better - best thing for Sparky was the gift of being released from pain and disfunction, no quality of life to look forward to.
Scott and Lisa kept in contact any time I reached out ( I almost velcored myself to them), providing me with mounds of encouragement & support, love through those 50 days and several days after Sparky crossed the Bridge.
I have so much respect for Scott, Lisa, PSR as I experienced seeing their depth of commitment, love, support to Fosters, Adopters, every dog in their care and their intense desire to share the need for the huge number of deserving dogs that need the gift of rescue.
As painful as it was to lose my sweet, adorable Sparky, it’s a good feeling knowing I had the privilege of loving him, giving him the quality of life he deserved in his finale days even if it took “a village”! I couldn’t have asked for or imagined as much as I was given from Pooch Savers Rescue! It was a great reminder that we don’t know how much time we have and to make not just the days but the moments count.
Thank you Scott, Lisa & Lisa, all of PSR!
I love the way you welcome each of your rescues to PSR and mission statement -
Saving one dog will not change the world, but for that one dog the world will be changed — and so was mine.

I met Scott and Lisa of Pooch Savers at an adoption event almost ten years ago. What most impresses me about them is that they take on some of the most difficult cases and they don't give up on them, no matter how long it takes. They take pregnant dogs, special needs dogs, elderly dogs, dogs with challenging medical conditions, and they work to find solutions. They once had a litter of tiny puppies, and they all got adopted. But one of them, Louie, was returned to them when his adopter could no longer care for Louie. By that time, he was almost 80 pounds. It took two years before Louie was adopted again. A few months later, he was returned again when his owner was deployed and his pregnant wife didn't think she could handle Louie and a baby. It took another year before Louie finally found his forever home. Early this year, they got Willie from a hoarding situation in Houston. Not only was Willy a senior at nine years, but he had cerebellar hyperplasia. As difficult as that might be for, potential, adopters, Scott and Lisa networked Willy and found a great home for him. They are undeterred by challenges; no matter what it takes, they will do everything they can to find loving homes for their rescues. They typically have 15-20 dogs at their home at any given time. Their hearts are huge; they just wish they had more space to accomodate even more. They spend every Saturday and Sunday holding adoption events for their babies and haven't had a vacation in years. They are amazing. we need more, people like them.
